The Players And The Protagonist Want To Kill Me – Volume 1, Chapter 80

Chapter 80: Weakening

“Hey hey, stop taking screenshots, look!”

“Huh? The city gate is open?”

In the surprised gazes of the Players, the tightly closed gate of Winterfell suddenly began to slowly open.

Most Players didn’t react. Clearly, the defending side had the advantage, so why would they open the city gate and take the initiative to attack?

But Avatar and other Player representatives quickly guessed Sivey’s intention.

“Eagle Lord intends to destroy our Resurrection point. Last time in Black River Territory, he must have seen our Temporary Resurrection point.”

“And…”

Avatar said, sneakingly inputting on the public channel:

“Our Temporary Resurrection Crystal is quite conspicuous. The protagonist Ye Hao is standing next to it like a 36-watt light bulb. This reflection alone is like three big light bulbs. Eagle Lord isn’t blind…”

“Brothers, let’s withdraw some people back to protect the crystal. Although we brought a lot, once it’s gone, it’s gone, and setting up a new crystal will also require a thirty-second cooldown.”

Soon, half of the veteran Players followed the command and returned to protect the crystal.

They also noticed that there were fewer guards on the city wall, and the pressure of the siege had decreased. Now, protecting the Resurrection point was the most important thing.

The gate’s cable was lowered, and the hard obsidian magic stone gate “thudded” onto the ground, raising rolling dust.

A deafening sound of footsteps came, shaking the ground slightly.

The Players widened their eyes and looked up to see a neat formation appear under the majestic Winterfell, with the mighty eagle flag fluttering in the sky, rustling.

The Crusaders’ shiny armor gleamed brilliantly. They held their longswords tightly to their chests, the blades shimmering with cold light, piercing the sky.

With shields held in their left hands in front of them, even the height at which they held the shields was identical.

They seemed to be one, with even the eyes behind their helmets showing the same indifferent expression.

In front of the formation, Eagle Lord wore dragon crystal armor and a helmet. His sharp gaze swept over the Players, and his long Health Bar unfolded above his head, with the crimson Threat level flashing, emitting a murderous aura like a raging sea.

Looking down from the sky over the battlefield.

The strict and orderly Winterfell army formation contrasted sharply with the constantly changing group of scattered Players.

The air stagnated for a moment, and the Players felt their lips dry.

Some excited Players had already sent screenshots of identification spells to the public channel:

[Name: Reyna]

[Identity: Crusader]

[Strength: Swordsman Level 18]

[Skills: Shield Bash, Military Formation]

[Equipment: Crusader Shield, Crusader Longsword, Standard Crusader Armor]

[Threat level: Common ~ Difficult]

[Eagle Territory reputation: 1 (They are obscure, but they are the lord’s sword)]

They could only see the Crusader’s information because the level of the Player taking the screenshot was higher than that of the Crusader. But when they looked at Eagle Lord’s information, it was still a bunch of glaring question marks.

[Eagle Lord – Sivey Golden Lion (Skull)]

[Sky Knight – Level 52 – nightmare]

It’s the familiar recipe, the familiar taste, the familiar nightmare, except that the two words that were still somewhat reddish have turned pitch black.

“Hey… brothers, don’t hesitate, we have more people now… we can crush them.”

“Yeah, that’s right!”

After a brief silence on the public channel, accompanied by one or two encouraging messages, the Players also reacted:

“Brothers, why are we afraid when we’re all at an average level of 15, and there are over a thousand veteran Players at level twenty?!”

“Don’t forget our mission! We must rescue His Highness Saintess!”

“For His Highness Saintess!”

“Death comes like the wind, always by my side!”

“Soloing bosses, rage-exploding Equipment!”

“Rua! Rua!”

The Players’ morale immediately soared, and their gazes toward Sivey were once again filled with determination.

But Ye Hao was feeling uneasy. Seeing Eagle Lord breakthrough as a Sky Knight was disgusting enough, but what about the old man in front of him who was blocking his way?

Why did he also breakthrough as a Sky Knight?

Who the hell is cheating?!

Looking at the surging Qi of the old knight Clement in front of him, Ye Hao couldn’t help but curse magnificently in his heart.

“Damn it! You dare to invade the world with just this? It’d be good if your broken world wasn’t invaded.”

“Do you even have an ounce of awareness in your heart?”

Buzz—

“Ye Hao!” A grand and majestic voice suddenly resounded in Ye Hao’s mind, startling him, and he couldn’t help but pray silently in his heart:

I hope it didn’t hear the things I just cursed at it.

“My world has made a breakthrough in connection with this world, so I can temporarily modify the rules of this world for a period of time.”

Behind Ye Hao, a blurry projection appeared, visible only to him. He seemed somewhat unstable, with part of his body slowly disintegrating.

In the projection’s hand was an azure blue planet, and one could vaguely see the dazzling light in his eyes.

The grand existence turned its gaze toward Eagle Lord in the distant army formation, murmuring:

“Is this change your means of self-rescue, Cain? If even after giving it your all and only making this little progress, then you cannot escape the fate of destruction.”

The grand will flickered for a moment. Ye Hao suddenly felt that the surrounding environment seemed to be out of place, and an overwhelming pressure swept over him, as if he had become an anomaly in this world.

The speed of the grand will’s projection collapsing also accelerated. His eyes flashed, and he pointed a finger, sending a beam of white light towards the Players confronting Eagle Lord.

After doing all this, he shattered and dissipated into specks of light, disappearing without a trace.

The surrounding sense of dissonance and pressure also disappeared.

At the same time, the Players received a Tip from the Quest system:

[Main boss found, Eagle Lord Sivey Golden Lion]

[Due to the large level difference, starting to adjust…]

[Adjustment complete!]

[Sivey Golden Lion’s damage taken from Players is now forced to be True Damage]

“Damn! That’s real damage!”

“What does that mean? Does it mean we won’t miss when attacking Eagle Lord anymore?”

“Maybe. Before, we couldn’t break through his defense because of his high-level Equipment and Qi protection all over his body.”

“Now, according to the Quest, his Qi protection mechanism should be weakened.”

“Wow!”

“I told you, how could a game release a Quest that we can’t beat? Now it seems normal.”

Unlike the Players’ excitement and happiness, Sivey felt a sudden chill throughout his body. He had a premonition that something bad had happened to him.

He had been weakened, not in terms of attack but in defense.

This meant that hoping Players would pile on him to death was no longer a luxury…
