On a warm and cozy afternoon in winter, small dust particles danced in the sunlight. Jiang Ci sat with her legs stretched out on a cushion, carefully studying the assembly instructions for the baby crib.
As soon as Huo Zhenzhen learned of her pregnancy, she immediately spent a lot of money to buy a baby crib.

“Lu Xingxue, you put it together wrong!” Jiang Ci couldn’t stop laughing as she pointed at the bed board.
Lu Xingxue finished examining the pattern and also laughed.
They had to take it apart and reassemble it. Jiang Ci hung onto Lu Xingxue’s arm, hindering her from going back to work, and kept laughing.
“Are you laughing at me?” Lu Xingxue tried to move with small gestures, afraid of bumping into Jiang Ci.

“Ice cream.” Jiang Ci’s eyes flickered as she looked at her.
Jiang Ci hadn’t tasted ice cream since she became pregnant over four months ago. She was being extra cautious due to her pregnancy. The doctor listed many things she needed to be careful about and ice cream was among them.
After the winter arrived in G City, the weather suddenly became cold, and the floor heating was turned on in the house. She has been feeling hot these days. Pregnant women are already more sensitive to heat, let alone craving for ice cream. She knew it was embarrassing to ask, but she couldn’t resist and hesitantly brought it up.
“The doctor said no,” Lu Xingxue’s reply was particularly official.
“But I want to eat it,” Jiang Ci said, full of expectation, and kissed Lu Xingxue on the lips, repeating, “I want to eat it.”
Lu Xingxue patiently said, “You have to follow the doctor’s advice.”

The evening sun poured in through the large glass window, backlighting Jiang Ci as she sat there. She had cut her hair short, almost chin-length, with a small face that was untouched by makeup, fair and lustrous, making her look very young. But underneath her loose dress, her small belly was growing larger every day due to her pregnancy.
Lu Xingxue suddenly felt a subtle sense of guilt, which reached its peak at night.
“Mmm…” Jiang Ci’s eyes were like water, biting her lower lip.
“You’re so sensitive today…” Lu Xingxue continued to lightly tease her from behind, kissing her shoulder. ” Is it because we haven’t done it in a while?”

Lu Xingxue swallowed her voice.
Lu Xingxue sleepily opened her eyes and found that Jiang Ci was not by her side. Thinking she might have gone to the bathroom, Lu Xingxue waited in a half-asleep state, but suddenly woke up again.
Jiang Ci still hadn’t returned, so Lu Xingxue got out of bed, pushed open the door, and found that Jiang Ci was not there.
“Ah-Ci?” Lu Xingxue called out.
She wasn’t in the room, nor on the third floor, so Lu Xingxue went downstairs to look for her. Outside, it was still pitch black, and the occasional sound of utensils clanging sounded particularly crisp in the quiet early morning.

Lu Xingxue felt more and more sorry for her as she listened: “Ah-Ci, this is our child, and there are many difficulties that I can’t bear for you. But for everything else that I can do, I don’t want to miss out. Please let me participate at any time, okay?”

“Do you want to eat anything else?” Lu Xingxue asked.

“What’s wrong? Is your stomach uncomfortable?” Lu Xingxue knelt down nervously and put her hand on Jiang Ci’s stomach.
“She’s moving,” Jiang Ci said.
There was a barely perceptible tremble on her belly, and the little one had started to move in the womb.
