Grab The Heroine and Run Away Ch.1
Hey guys
We’re so excited to finally bring you this wonderful GL novel! And let me tell you, this is gonna be a long one with an average of 7,5k words pr. chapter.
I want to say a special thanks to my editor sinensis who’s been working so hard to research and edit this novel, so that everyone can get the best possible experience when reading.
And finally, this chapter can be considered a teaser of what’s to come. We won’t be uploading chapters consistently just yet, but when we do, we plan on uploading every other day. So, look forward to that.
As a sidenote, sinensis has created an “introductory” chapter for everyone to read. If you don’t already know what Idol Survival Shows are, and all the other special concepts that are explored in this novel, then I highly recommend you check it out.
“Let’s go together, running toward the sun.”
“Even if the wind and rain are fierce, the journey is exhausting- never give up on shining dreams…”
The sweet melody reverberated within the dressing room. Xu Heran, leaning in the makeup chair, was awakened by it. She opened her eyes, her expression vacant, staring blankly at the vanity.
“?”
Where did the music come from?
A tablet was placed on the vanity in front of her, and the music that had woken her up was playing from the tablet.
The camera on the screen zoomed in, focusing on the girl positioned at the center front.
Xu Heran’s expression grew even more dazed. She widened her eyes, the dark pupils slowly misting over with a layer of water vapor, staring directly at the girl on the screen.
“Huh?”
Why couldn’t she remember filming this program, let alone standing in the center?
That talent agent who was dead set on handing her over to some investor, whom she had slapped hard and hadn’t shown up for three months since, how could he possibly bring her this kind of opportunity? That scoundrel and the company were all liars!
“A dream,” Xu Heran wondered, but her gaze remained fixed on the screen.
In the video, the girl standing in the center was radiant and beautiful, with everyone behind her becoming her backdrop. The young girl shone brightly, even more luminous than the stars on a summer night.
Xu Heran became even more certain that this was a dream, or perhaps a beautiful dream that reality didn’t dare to imagine. As she stared at the video, unable to look away, the cheerful and enthusiastic singing drew to a close, and the program’s logo slid in.
Beneath a golden crown, the golden letters of “Starlight Girl” sparkled, “Bling Bling.”
“What???”1
Starlight Girl?
“I was just reading ‘Starry Path’ again before going to sleep, and now I’m dreaming of participating in a talent show from the novel!” Xu Heran slapped her face and said speechlessly, “But, if it’s a dream, I wonder if I can see my little Nuo Nuo.”
Thinking about her “idol” Xu Heran became delighted, sitting in the chair and crossing her legs. She also thought that this dream felt quite real; even the stiffness from sleeping for a long time on the chair could be… Wait, no, she had never felt pain in her dreams!
Xu Heran suddenly froze, her pupils dilating abruptly as a strange conjecture surfaced in her mind. Her eyes swept over the unfamiliar environment once again.
The dressing room was quite spacious, with a dozen makeup tables arranged in rows. Among the neatly organized surfaces, only the one in front of her was in disarray, as if someone had vented their anger and deliberately swept the items off the table. Bottles and jars were scattered around the floor, shattered lotion and foundation mixed together, solidifying on the white brick surface like scars.
But whether it was the broken makeup bottles, the surroundings of the makeup table, or the walls on all sides of the room, there were logos with golden crowns that she had seen in the video everywhere.
The golden-pink “Starlight Girl” characters were particularly conspicuous, as if afraid she wouldn’t see them clearly.
Goosebumps rose on Xu Heran’s back, and her fair skin instantly bristled with chicken skin. She jerked her head and looked at the mirror.
In the mirror, a stunningly beautiful girl stared wide-eyed, lips slightly parted. On her youthful and tender face, there was soft and smooth skin as fair as water, without a trace of the torment of poverty.
Bright incandescent lights illuminated the entire makeup room, and the fill lights around the mirror were like demon-revealing lights, exposing all the flaws on her face. Yet, the girl in the mirror had almost no flaws, except for the current dumbfounded expression. Beneath her ridiculously long eyelashes, the blue-purple pupils shone like gems in the bright light.
“…”
Silently, Xu Heran stood up and approached the makeup mirror. Her rosy fingertips rested on her lower eyelids, gently pulling them downward. A faint mist of water vapor appeared in her eye sockets, and the pristine white of her eyes gradually turned a shade of pink, contrasting sharply with the color of her pupils.
Within that blue-based iris, with the pupil at its center, there were several delicate threads of purple lines winding and twisting. These lines became even richer and more intense when touched by the light, dreamily resembling the stardust of a galaxy enveloped by the night.
She wasn’t mistaken; it was indeed a blue-purple color.
Xu Heran took a small breath.
Could it be… colored contact lenses for her pupils?
Such a remarkable eye color, she had only seen it on one person, no, it should be one character’s description.
In the early stages of the novel “Starry Path”, this eye color was mentioned when describing a character. In a talent show, this character repeatedly mocked and belittled the female protagonist, Xi Nuo, out of resentment, trying to suppress and insult her, before eventually withdrawing from the show. Later, she attempted to use her family’s influence to obstruct Xi Nuo’s path to stardom, but ended up meeting a nasty fate.
Xu Heran.
Because of the same name and surname, she had skipped over this part of the story several times, feeling embarrassed. Later, she stumbled upon a segment of the novel’s description and became curious, so she reluctantly clicked on it and found herself captivated by the character Xi Nuo.
In the story, Xi Nuo was kind and beautiful. She participated in a talent show to enter the entertainment industry and earn money for her sick mother’s medical expenses. However, her beauty attracted a pack of wolves, hungry wolves at that! These wolves surrounded Xi Nuo, wanting to possess her, break her wings, trample her dreams, insult her dignity, and seize everything from her.
Xi Nuo became like a toy in their hands, a tool displaying their power. In the process of being seized by these hungry wolves, she suffered harm and deception time and time again. Her mother, who was already sick, was affected by all this and passed away.
In the mire of darkness, the originally fragile girl stood up resolutely, relying on her determination. She faced the wind and waves with gritted teeth, eventually shattering all obstacles to reach the pinnacle.
The hyenas, wolves, tigers, and leopards that once blocked her path had their bones strewn across the steps leading to the summit.
Every time she saw Xi Nuo standing on the deserted rooftop in the dark of night, toying with a lighter while gazing at the brilliantly illuminated city, Xu Heran’s eyes always welled up with fervent tears. Just like Xi Nuo, she also crawled through the darkness. When exhausted and in despair, the novel “Starry Path” became the only place she could find solace.
Xi Nuo was her idol, her belief.
She regarded Xi Nuo as her future, yearning for the day when she could coolly tell the darkness, “You’re worthless,” just like her idol did.
But then!
“How did I become Xu Heran?” She raised her hand and pinched her own face hard. The stinging sensation from the soft flesh was not fake; she had actually turned into a supporting character from the novel! A supporting character who opposed her idol!
Or worse, a malicious supporting character with the same appearance as hers, but with ten layers of beautification effects!
Xu Heran’s body stiffened. She hadn’t fully comprehended her changed identity when suddenly, in the program playing on the tablet, a name appeared.
“Rankings Announcement for Round Three of ‘Starlight Girl.’ The Starlight Girl who secured fourth place is — individual trainee, Xi Nuo!” The host exclaimed loudly.
Xi Nuo!
That name was instantly caught by her ears. Xu Heran immediately cast aside her astonishment and excitedly leaned over the table. Her entire body felt a rush of blood due to this name, her milk-like fair skin turning a light shade of pink, extending all the way to behind her ears and gradually trickling down. Lowering her head, she gazed at the girl appearing on the screen, captivated.
She had imagined what Xi Nuo looked like, but she realized that her imagination fell short by a factor of ten!
The hall in the video was quite large, and at this moment, all the lights converged on Xi Nuo. A torrent of radiance cascaded down upon her, a lavish favoritism. The moment she appeared, no one could shift their gaze away from her; she was the center of all brilliance.
Those watching outside the screen were entranced, their gazes fixed on her. The original host was of mixed race, with slightly deeper eye sockets and even the eye color being the result of a genetic mutation. However, Xi Nuo’s pupils were very dark, like indelible ink. Few people possessed such dark and radiant eyes.
In this moment, she locked eyes with the blue-purple eyes outside the screen.
“Thank you, thank you everyone for your love and support,” Xi Nuo lifted a strand of hair near her ear and spoke in a gentle tone. The trainees seated below and Xu Heran, who were still leaning over the table, simultaneously released sighs. This made The girl who had intended to express her gratitude felt a bit embarrassed. A shy smile appeared on her typically composed face as she lifted the microphone to her lips and tilted her head with a faint smile.
Xu Heran’s heart was struck, and she murmured with a choked voice, “Nuo Nuo, mama’s Nuo Nuo, sob…”
Enthralled by the natural beauty of the paper person coming to life, Xu Heran inserted her hands into her hair, swaying left and right. Taking advantage of the fact that no one was in the dressing room, she kept calling out Xi Nuo’s name, “Nuo Nuo looks so pretty”sob…
A girl who had just entered the dressing room halted her steps, looking puzzled at the closed door.
Host: “Although Xi Nuo is an individual trainee, she has won everyone’s recognition with her astonishing beauty and outstanding talent! She leaped from fifty in the first ranking to tenth, and now in this ranking, she has progressed again to secure fourth place, successfully entering the debut position. She has become one of the most outstanding trainees in the training camp! So, do you have anything to say to everyone?”
Xu Heran pouted, her eyes still reddened. She knelt on the ground, arms cradling her face, unable to hold back her sigh, “That’s right, our Nuo Nuo is just that excellent! Who wouldn’t love our Nuo Nuo!”
“This ranking means both encouragement and pressure to me. There are many friends among the trainees who are more talented than I am. Everyone has the potential to surpass me,” the girl in the camera lowered her eyelashes, her pupils shimmering with fragmented light. In the depths of her pupils, it seemed as though a small flame burned passionately.
“Sob, sob, Nuo Nuo is truly modest!”
“But I will also work hard to hold onto this position. I want to thank the star-makers who have supported me all along. It’s your support that has allowed me to stand in this position. I will strive to create a more perfect stage and repay everyone’s love!”
“Squeak, squeak, Nuo Nuo is so warm-hearted!”
Xu Heran looked at Xi Nuo, feeling a sense of admiration no matter how she looked at her. She had completely forgotten about her own current situation. However, when Xi Nuo was giving her speech, the camera suddenly switched to the seats behind her. Among rows of beautiful girls who were crying or smiling, a girl in the center of the fourth row, rolling her eyes, stood out.
Although it was a distant view, that sense of disdain almost seemed to pass through the camera.
Xu Heran became furious in an instant, “Who the hell dares to roll their eyes at my precious Nuo Nuo!”
Her anger flared, but the camera quickly snapped back, and it was impossible to see who had rolled their eyes. Xu Heran had a sudden idea, she stretched out her hand and tapped on the tablet, reopening the barrage settings that had been closed in the lower left corner.
The next moment, a dense barrage floated in from the right. Those white, red, purple, and green messages, of varying speeds and sizes, conveyed just one point of view.
Having finally found her target, Xu Heran straightened her posture, slammed the table hard, and cursed along with the barrage:
“What the hell, Xu Heran, are you crazy?”
“Xi Nuo, you’ve never provoked her, so why the hell is she rolling her eyes at you!”
“You piece of shit!!”
“Oof.”
The door of the dressing room was pushed open from the outside, revealing a girl in a short-sleeved top and long pants. She leaned slightly forward, with her hand resting on the doorknob. A white baseball cap was pressed on her head, its brim low, almost covering half of her face. From Xu Heran’s angle, she could only see the girl’s pursed pink lips.
“Looks so tall,” Xu Heran tilted her head back, her anger not yet dissipated, her brows furrowed in thought.
The girl in her line of sight was tall and graceful, like a flower blossoming in tranquil silence after a spring rain. She hadn’t even stepped into the room, but her distinct fragrance permeated the space, reaching Xu Heran’s nostrils.
“You… good?” Xu Heran raised her hand tentatively, trying to speak.
“Ha.”
The shallow and almost illusionary chuckle dissipated in the air. The girl at the door lifted her chin slightly, her dark eyes beneath the cap’s brim locked onto those of the person inside the room.
Her cold gaze fell upon the tablet rolling with barrage messages. Then, she turned her attention to Xu Heran. Her indifferent eyes lingered on Xu Heran’s still-angry face for a moment. She remained unaffected by the sudden burst of excitement in Xu Heran’s eyes. Her cold gaze shifted downward, tracing the contours of the young girl’s vibrant body, eventually coming to rest on her knees, which were pressed against the floor.
Xi Nuo: ?
The author has something to say:
Xu Heran: What does it have to do with me if I scold Xu Heran?
Question: Why does Xu Heran have blue-purple irises?
Answer: Because of a unique genetic mutation that makes the protagonist a Mary Sue!
The story begins — croak croak. In this story, I want to try writing a long one, where the two heroines will start from the talent show and become more and more outstanding! I hope everyone will support these two beautiful swans of Meng Meng!
Also, there’s one very important thing: because it’s the entertainment industry, the variety shows and settings mentioned in the story are inspired by real-life ones. The most important point is that this story has no prototypes at all!! This is really important, thank you dear readers~ a bow and a heart~ love you to bits!
