Grab The Heroine and Run Away Ch.18

2/5

After Xu Heran finished getting ready and prepared to leave with Xin Nuo, her usually stern manager suddenly pulled her aside, speaking with a serious tone.

“You’re still young. You must take care of yourself and avoid doing certain things right now.”

“?” Xu Heran looked at her in confusion, slowly nodding, “Oh…”

What’s going on?

Her attitude was seen as agreement in Cui Qi’s eyes. Cui Qi sighed and reiterated, “You might debut as part of a girl group, even though it’s a two-year limited group. But during your idol days, it’s best not to do anything that will disappoint your fans.”

Xu Heran didn’t think she could debut, but she immediately nodded in agreement with Cui Qi’s words.

“Well, as long as you understand,” Cui Qi sighed heavily. She decided that once she returned to the company, she would immediately come up with a plan to handle the artist’s romantic public relations.

On their way to the recording hall, Xin Nuo looked at Xu Heran, who had been frowning the whole time, and asked gently, “What’s wrong?”

“I feel…” Xu Heran scratched her chin, “Is Sister Cui going through menopause?”

Xin Nuo looked at her in confusion.

“She just said a bunch of random things to me earlier,” Xu Heran whispered, “She was sweating and blushing the whole time, which fits the symptoms of menopause. Should I let her rest for a while and have her come back to work after I eliminate her?”

Xin Nuo then asked what Cui Qi had said. Xu Heran truthfully recounted it, and suddenly, it hit her, “Could it be that someone secretly dating in the training camp got exposed?”

“Mm-hmm.” Xin Nuo recalled the way Cui Qi had been looking at her in Xu Heran’s room, a subtle smile playing on her face.

Xu Heran didn’t see her expression, but thinking about what Cui Qi had told her afterward, she suddenly stopped in her tracks.

No dating!

That’s right, now that the Xu family hadn’t withdrawn their investment, Xin Nuo could debut from “Starlight Girl.” Even though the incident where she had “confessed” to Xin Nuo had caused a commotion, who knows which arrogant bastard might not be able to resist Xin Nuo’s charm and insist on going after Nuo Nuo?

Nuo Nuo is so kind, but those bastards are more and more disgusting, their methods becoming more and more vile. Nuo Nuo might be strong after experiencing storms in the future, but what if she’s deceived by those scoundrels who act like gentlemen now?

The more Xu Heran thought about it, the more upset she became, the more uncomfortable she felt. She stopped in her tracks and grabbed Xin Nuo’s hand, holding it to her chest.

Xin Nuo: “…?”

“I have something very important to tell you,” Xu Heran looked at Xin Nuo seriously.

Xin Nuo smiled slightly, “Please, go ahead.”

“I think Sister Cui makes a lot of sense. Since we’re here to participate in the program, it’s for the sake of debuting! Those who can debut receive votes from fans, one by one. If we debut and start dating, won’t those fans who voted for us be very disappointed? Isn’t that right?” Xu Heran held onto Xin Nuo’s fingers tightly.

“Well… that’s true,” Xin Nuo pretended to listen attentively, nodding slightly.

“So, when you debut, you must stay true to yourself and definitely not be snatched away by the dogs—cats and dogs by the roadside!” As she spoke, Xu Heran’s voice carried a noticeable hint of gritted teeth.

“Mm~” Xin Nuo responded in agreement, her voice echoing in her throat, but her brow slowly furrowing.

What’s the sudden… meaning behind this?

“Starlight Girl’s debut group is limited to two years. When the group disbands, you can do whatever you want. By then, you’ll have the strength that no one can question or obstruct. If you want to date, want to get married, you can do it however you like.” Xu Heran said softly, but her eyebrows involuntarily drooped. She mumbled, “I’ll support you too.”

She couldn’t ignore the uncomfortable feeling in her heart.

Xin Nuo was her idol, and as Xin Nuo’s most loyal fan, she should support Xin Nuo in finding her true happiness.

Xu Heran told herself in her heart.

Beside her, Xin Nuo relaxed her brows, a trace of darkness flashing in her jet-black eyes.

“I currently don’t have any thoughts of dating,” she said softly, “But fate in this world is so strange, no one knows what might happen in the next second.”

Just like how she was reborn, and the little princess whose soul was swapped.

Xu Heran let go of Xin Nuo’s hand, unable to conceal her disappointment in her eyes.

“But,” Xin Nuo’s lips curled up, her fingertips emerging from her sleeve. Her index finger hooked onto Xu Heran’s pinkie. The training outfit she was wearing was Xu Heran’s. Xu Heran liked oversized coats, and even though she was two centimeters taller than Xu Heran, the clothes were still quite loose on her.

The slender and delicate-looking girl with black hair smiled as she playfully swayed her fingertip. Her long eyelashes trembled, and when she lifted her gaze, the light in her eyes poured like a river of stars.

“Xu Heran, if you walk with me until the end, I promise you that I won’t enter into a romantic relationship with anyone else in the next two years.” Xu Heran’s pupils slowly dilated as she stared blankly at Xin Nuo. Xin Nuo leaned slightly forward, the scent of roses on her drifting to Xu Heran’s nose. She heard Xin Nuo’s voice, filled with a playful tone, “And also, if you’re not by my side watching over me, what if I can’t resist and get tempted by the cats and dogs by the roadside? You wouldn’t know, right?”

“…”

Makes perfect sense!

As Xu Heran walked, lost in thought with a dazed expression, she didn’t notice that Xin Nuo had been holding onto her finger the whole time. The two of them were walking hand in hand like elementary school students after school.

The other trainees on the road didn’t find this odd, and they raised their hands to greet the pair.

They had already accepted the fact that Xu Heran and Xin Nuo’s relationship had improved. Especially considering Xu Heran’s recent behavior, they were willing to include her again. They even joined Xin Nuo in calling her “Little Princess.” While they used to call her “Princess” mockingly due to her arrogance, now they called her “Little Princess” because they genuinely thought she was beautiful and adorable.

If Xu Heran hadn’t been so impolite and dismissive from the start, and hadn’t constantly rolled her eyes at others, perhaps nobody in the training camp would have disliked her.

“Good morning,” Xu Heran greeted Haya listlessly, her arms crossed as she stood on the platform, sighing and feeling preoccupied with Xin Nuo’s words.

To walk alongside Xin Nuo and debut together?

How was that even possible? She was about to be eliminated this time!

But if she didn’t debut alongside Xin Nuo, she wouldn’t be able to spend time with her. What if she got entangled with those jerks?

Xu Heran anxiously bit her sleeve, glanced around, and took a quick run, dashing to the third row where Xin Nuo was seated before the host came over.

“Nuo Nuo, do you really have to debut?” Xu Heran anxiously bit her lip, wanting to reason with Xin Nuo. “Look, with my current vote count, I could be eliminated any minute. I won’t even make it to the top forty-two!”

“Is this okay? After I get eliminated, I’ll be your assistant. You won’t have to pay me a salary. I’ll support myself!” Xu Heran held up her fingers, telling Xin Nuo, “I’ll take care of my own food and lodging. If you’re thirsty, I’ll bring you water. If you’re hungry, I’ll bring you food. If you’re tired, I’ll even… uh…”

Xu Heran scratched her head, smiling at Xin Nuo with an attempt to be endearing.

“No thanks,” Xin Nuo intentionally turned her head away. “It’s not like I made your vote count so low.”

“Sigh.” Xu Heran hugged Xin Nuo’s arm with both hands, resting her chin on Xin Nuo’s shoulder, looking pitiful as she gazed at her with droopy eyes. “It’s all my own fault. Can’t you cut me some slack? Look, you know, in yesterday’s live performance, there’s only seven days left for voting. Even if I wanted to work hard, I wouldn’t have time!”

Xin Nuo turned her head, her glossy black eyes glancing to the side as she coldly regarded Xu Heran. She asked in a faint voice, “Am I to blame for mentioning it late?”

“It’s not that, wah wah wah, I really want to be with you, but I really can’t do it, I just can’t, I swear!”

Xu Heran clung to Xin Nuo, wailing and sobbing. The other trainees found them amusing and chuckled as they watched, covering their mouths, wondering what the two of them were up to.

“How about I be your assistant? I’ll sing to help you sleep every day, how about that?”

When Lin Weining approached, she heard Xu Heran’s voice. She looked surprised as she saw Xu Heran tightly hugging Xin Nuo, with Xin Nuo’s arms locked in her embrace.

“So, Xin Nuo needs someone to sing her to sleep?” She playfully teased. “I didn’t know I was rooming with someone like that.”

Seeing someone approach, Xu Heran awkwardly let go of Xin Nuo’s hand.

“Feeling better today?” Lin Weining asked.

“Thanks to you all last night, I’m much better now,” Xin Nuo thanked Lin Weining.

“It’s nothing,” Lin Weining glanced at Xin Nuo’s complexion and smiled, saying, “Hmm, your makeup looks great today. There’s no sign of illness. People probably won’t notice anything wrong during the live broadcast later.”

“Live broadcast?” Xu Heran straightened up with a sudden motion.

Is today’s recording still a live broadcast?

“Yeah, did you forget?” Lin Weining glanced at her in surprise, “After the performance ends, the next day there’s a live broadcast to announce the on-site voting results. It was the same process last time. In addition to announcing the vote count, there’s also interaction with the audience, increasing your exposure and also an opportunity to gather more votes.”

Xu Heran’s eyes slowly widened, and she immediately looked at Xin Nuo.

Xin Nuo blinked innocently, pretending not to know, and still in her light and airy tone, she asked, “What are you looking at me for?”

“Hehe~” Xu Heran raised her hand and poked Xin Nuo’s arm, leaning closer to her with a smile, “So, you had it all planned out, didn’t you? Were you hoping I’d gather votes for myself today?”

Xin Nuo innocently shook her head, “I never thought of that.”

She turned to look at Lin Weining, “So, today is a live broadcast?”

Lin Weining: “…”

?

Isn’t this something everyone knows? Could it be that she got it wrong?

Lin Weining puzzledly grabbed Sun Lingxi who was passing by, asking her, and only after getting a definite answer did she finally feel relieved.

Right, she didn’t get it wrong.

“Hehe.” Xu Heran playfully clung to Xin Nuo like a little sticky note, muttering, “If you didn’t want me to go, you should have just said it. Did you have to see me pitifully begging you to be happy? Heartless, I even gave you half of the bed last night!”

“No, it’s not like that, why would you think that?” Xin Nuo looked at her in surprise, “Don’t you want to agree with me? Do you want to see me in a relationship with someone else?”

Xu Heran got caught in her words, immediately lowering the corners of her mouth and commanding fiercely, “No way!”

Xin Nuo shrugged as if to say, well, you said it, but it doesn’t count.

Someone got angry and squinted their eyes.

“Hmph, just you wait. It’s just vote gathering,” she used a domineering gaze that said, “No matter how many, I can get them all,” and stared at Xin Nuo for three seconds, then immediately asked her timidly, “Before the end, as long as I can make it into the top forty-two, will you agree?”

Xin Nuo smiled, lifted her hair behind her ear with her hand, and said slowly, “No.”

Her dark pupils sparkled, like flowing ink in an inkstone, covered by a pool of bright light from the sunlight.

“Didn’t someone say they’d do a backflip or something?”

Xin Nuo leaned down, smilingly said, she lightly blew a breath into Xu Heran’s ear, her tone slightly teasing.

“For this, I also want you to stay until the end.”
