My Childhood Sweetheart Gradually Puffed Up CH.16

Chapter 16: The Cat Named Banben Spoke (Part One)

But until the weekend came, Fu Chengque hadn’t found an opportunity to see Banben.

Wen Yu noticed that Banben was getting fatter by the day, so he took the initiative to chat with Fu Chengque about it.

【Wen Yu】: Banben needs to get a cat vaccination and arrange for neutering.

【Wen Yu】: Are you free this weekend? Let’s go together.

【Fu Chengque】: So particular, vaccinations too? If neutered, it can’t have babies anymore, right?

【Wen Yu】: It can’t have babies if it’s not neutered either.

【Fu Chengque】: [Cat Rage] Why not! Half of it also counts as my cub, besides…

【Wen Yu】: Hold on.

【Wen Yu】: Banben is a male cat.

【Fu Chengque】: …

【Fu Chengque】: Ah, you should have said that at the beginning.

【Fu Chengque】: Boys, then forget it.

【Wen Yu】: ?

【Fu Chengque】: I didn’t expect you to know these things, I didn’t even know.

【Wen Yu】: There’s a lot you don’t know, like my past life as an idol.

【Fu Chengque】: Shut up.

【Fu Chengque】: I’ll hit you!

Having set plans with the girl next door for tomorrow, Wen Yu sat leisurely at the table, writing and drawing to relax.

After his rebirth, Wen Yu had been living with a relatively relaxed and carefree attitude, not worrying about food and drink for the time being.

Behind him, Banben took cat-like steps and quietly leaped onto his bed, curling up comfortably, so elegant that not even the slightest sound was made.

Today, talking about cats, Wen Yu realized that he couldn’t even afford the money for Banben’s vaccination and neutering.

After all, the cat was brought back by him and Fu Chengque. If even this simple financial pressure had to be transferred to his parents, then there was really no need to keep the cat.

So, it seemed that he had to find a way to get some money.

He couldn’t help but recite the three guidelines he had set before:

“First, keep grades and abilities high; second, make sure there’s plenty of money; and finally, have lots of friends.”

“I didn’t expect that I would have to do it myself.”

Originally thought to be a joke to tease Fu Chengque.

Thanks to the attribute bonuses, his grades have been steadily improving, and in his spare time, he can think about other things without any hindrance.

Even for Wen Yu, it could be considered a combination of work and rest.

And he had some special advantages, so it shouldn’t be difficult to make some money while lying down…

“I am both a prophet and a prisoner.”

Knowing a little about the direction of future timelines, but also trapped in these stubborn thoughts because of it.

Wen Yu’s sigh wasn’t without reason, as he had long discovered that this world was similar but different from his previous life, with subtle but significant differences.

For example, the Internet. According to his previous life, it should be between 2011 and 2013, but the development of Internet entertainment here was much faster during that time period. WeChat was already popular, and short videos were starting to show their potential.

“If I want to make more money, I should start with WeChat, which I’m more familiar with…” Wen Yu rubbed his temples. “Low entry barriers, minimal startup capital requirements, the new media industry where you can enter and exit quickly, emerging markets with little competition.”

Who knows if the stock market, virtual market, and other things he hadn’t paid attention to were the same as in his previous life.

“There really aren’t any particularly good ideas.”

Wen Yu felt a bit depressed; this was being a prisoner.

But then he suddenly felt happy again:

“And being a content creator is so simple, just make a ‘Try Not to Laugh Challenge,’ and you can embarrass yourself all year round.”

Having figured this out, Wen Yu regained his vigor and became cheerful again.

Wen Yu didn’t notice that behind him, the cat named Banben was standing upright, listening intently with its ears perked up.

The cow-patterned cat Banben was somewhat surprised—

Humans can speak!

Hey! Did you hear that? There are actually humans who can speak now!

Aren’t humans supposed to be creatures that only make inexplicable noises like babbling and yelling?

They shouldn’t have evolved language capabilities.

I didn’t expect the new partner to be an outstanding figure among humans, breaking through the sky and evolving language capabilities!

They can finally speak, but their handling of language is still too cumbersome, a long string, not concise at all.

For example, the phrase “I am both a prophet and a prisoner,” couldn’t it be expressed clearly with a simple “meow up, meow down”?

Weak, so weak.

We still need to learn from the senior cats in this regard.

But Banben was still very excited. Finally, there was a human who could speak, and he couldn’t help but “meow” loudly a few times.

[Human, you’re very smart!]

[Come over here, I want to tell you about my glorious history!]

Wen Yu heard the cat’s call behind him and realized that Banben had come in at some point and was still sleeping on his bed. How could he sleep with all that fur on his bed at night?

And still calling out!

“Why are you meowing, hungry?”

“Get down, get down, rolling around in a bed full of cat hair.”

Wen Yu added some cat food for Banben and took the opportunity to lock it outside the door.

Back in the bedroom, he plunged back into his plans for the future, completely forgetting about his own superpower…

Living room.

Banben was a bit speechless.

It was too optimistic about human intelligence. Although the new partner was already a genius among humans, it was limited to making some sounds and couldn’t understand advanced cat language at all.

It sighed.

“Humanity still has a long way to go.”

“But what he said is still very valuable…”

“Wow! The food is really delicious!”

***

The next day.

Fu Chengque came over early to play with the cat.

She couldn’t wait to try out her own superpower. She even had a premonition that the Nobel Prize was beckoning to her.

Banben had been playing around in the living room late at night, and now he was just falling asleep when Fu Chengque woke him up.

“Banben~”

“… … …”

“Banben, Banben.”

“… … …”

“Banben, why don’t you speak?”

Banben was immediately furious. What was this completely unevolved, super weak human doing making noise in the middle of the night? Not knowing how to speak, making a racket there!

“Meow!”

[Too noisy, go away!]

Fu Chengque’s face froze in excitement.

Shock, confusion, doubt, anger…

Emotions intertwined in her mind instantly, to the point that her delicate face didn’t know which expression to choose.

She hadn’t slept all night in excitement yesterday. She had imagined countless scenes of the first intelligent conversation with Banben, this non-sentient creature, full of excitement and longing, incredible.

Perhaps many unsolved mysteries would be answered on this morning, such as:

Why cats always love to push cups on tables;

What would happen if humans defecated directly in the cat litter box, what would cats say…

These are undoubtedly Nobel Prize-winning studies, and the great Empress Chengque will also raise the banner in biology…

But she never expected that the first sentence she understood from a non-sentient creature’s speech—

Turned out to be profanity!

Dreams, shattered.

Wen Yu came out after washing up and saw Fu Chengque squatting beside Banben with a blank expression, feeling quite puzzled.

“What’s wrong? Weren’t you just excited about playing with the cat?”

Fu Chengque remained stunned.

“Haha, I get it. Did you disturb Banben’s sleep and get scratched by it?”

Fu Chengque looked at Wen Yu and said softly:

“Or maybe it’s better to destroy it. This world is too filthy.”
