My Childhood Sweetheart Gradually Puffed Up CH.18

Chapter 18: Sweetness

Back home, Wen Yu took out a cat treat to reward Banben for being relatively well-behaved outside.

As he fed Banben, he remembered something eerie—

Was the dumbass superpower working?

[Cat Language: A special ability that can be understood as a superpower. Cats can understand what you say, but you can’t understand what cats say.]

If that’s true, can Banben understand what he says?

He thought for a moment and decided to try with Banben.

“Banben?”

“Meow.”

“Can you understand what I’m saying?”

“Meow? Meow meow meow!!”

Suddenly, Banben seemed ecstatic, spinning around him like crazy and bumping him with its head.

There were slight signs: Banben might actually understand what he’s saying.

Unfortunately, Banben was just a cat and couldn’t speak. Otherwise, having a conversation with it, a different species, would be truly amazing.

He happily took out a cat treat and a can of food, asking Banben, “Which one do you like? If you like both, bring them together.”

Banben hesitated for a moment, then reluctantly brought both to his feet.

Wen Yu decided to take back his earlier words. This superpower wasn’t entirely useless.

At least he could conveniently raise a cat. Come on, being able to directly ask a cat what it likes to eat is super cool.

So, the human and the cat played harmoniously for a while, and it was evident that Banben was quite happy.

After playing for a while, Wen Yu collapsed on the sofa and remembered something. He solemnly said to Banben, “If someone finds out that you can understand what I’m saying, they’ll either capture you for research or capture me for research… So, you must not reveal that you can understand this, understand?”

Banben solemnly meowed.

The next day, Wen Yu went out early to throw out the trash, and coincidentally ran into the cousin of Fu Chengque from next door coming out.

They had met before, so they weren’t completely unfamiliar with each other, but their relationship was distant.

Seeing the handsome neighbor going out, Lou Xuanli greeted him first.

“Hey, Xiao Yu, going out?”

“Just throwing out the trash. Where are you going so early, Sister Xuanli?”

“I’m going for a run, haha, it’s a habit I developed in university.”

They went downstairs together, with Wen Yu lagging behind a bit. From behind, he indeed felt that Lou Xuanli had a well-proportioned figure, with two long, firm legs.

“I say, you guys need to exercise more too. I was watching Qiao’er yesterday, although she has good stamina, she doesn’t seem to exercise regularly…” Lou Xuanli spoke energetically.

“In high school, we usually sit for long periods. On weekends like this, we should go for a run.”

Wen Yu chuckled, playing along, “Sister Li is right.”

“Haha, the young man is really enlightened.” Lou Xuanli turned her head and looked him over, “You’re handsome, really quite handsome. Your looks are quite striking, no wonder Qiao’er can’t stop talking about you.”

When they reached the ground floor, Lou Xuanli began warming up, but Wen Yu didn’t leave immediately. He took the initiative to ask about something he wanted to know.

“Sister Li, can I ask you something?”

“Hmm? About the university entrance exam? Let me just say, my university entrance exam results were not good.”

“No, I wanted to ask if you’re interested in making money…”

This conversation ended up lasting for half an hour.

After they parted ways, Lou Xuanli jogged while reminiscing about what Wen Yu had said just now. If he hadn’t seemed extremely serious and articulate, she would have thought this teenager was crazy.

During the conversation, Wen Yu first asked about her professional situation. Lou Xuanli thought the young man was interested in university majors and enthusiastically introduced hers for a while.

Then he asked about her job, which was a bit awkward, being just an intern;

Finally, he mentioned the internet, WeChat articles, short videos, and so on.

And from this, he brought up the ultimate question: What’s your view on new media?

What’s the view? Lou Xuanli hadn’t even heard of these things.

So in the latter half of the conversation, Wen Yu talked on and on.

Lou Xuanli’s head was spinning, and in a daze, she exchanged contact information with him. There was some sort of magic that made her say, “I’ll think about it,” and that’s how the conversation finally ended.

What did they talk about?

Lou Xuanli’s head was a little clearer now, and she summarized in her mind:

How to make money quickly through both ethical and unethical means, with Wen Yu planning and supervising while she implements and executes.

Earning over ten thousand a month isn’t a dream.

To her, who barely made it through the month with last month’s income of 1359 yuan, Wen Yu seemed even more persuasive than a con artist, but…

Many of the things he said, she could vaguely sense in her own career and life, but she couldn’t grasp them.

Today, when Wen Yu spoke, she suddenly felt enlightened: it seemed like what he said was actually true!

Otherwise, why believe him?

Besides, she was so poor, what did she have to lose by taking a chance?

That night, Wen Yu received a reply from Lou Xuanli: I can try, but if it doesn’t work out, I’ll just disappear.

This sentence had another meaning: if there’s even a hint of deception from you, I’ll disappear.

Wen Yu saw through it without pointing it out, and just replied happily: Let’s cooperate well.

Then he sent the plan he had made to Lou Xuanli.

Taking the first step, Wen Yu breathed a sigh of relief.

The next day was Monday.

On the way to school, Wen Yu was alone.

After changing seats, Fu Chengque seemed to deliberately avoid him in the morning.

What’s with the avoidance? We’re still going to sit together later.

When he arrived at school, Fu Chengque was already in his seat.

“Why did you leave so early without waiting for me?” Wen Yu asked Fu Chengque.

“I… I went for a run with my cousin in the morning… I got up early so I left early!” the girl replied.

Liar, Lou Xuanli said she went home last night.

Wen Yu didn’t expose her and just smiled before sitting down.

After the quiz, the teachers of each subject accelerated the pace of learning to leave enough time for review in the second half of the term.

Fu Chengque was very serious in class, and Wen Yu didn’t want to disturb her.

But during the English class, which she was good at, she secretly started to doze off.

Under the desk, a piece of candy was passed over the middle line and reached Wen Yu’s side.

Wen Yu looked at Fu Chengque with a puzzled look.

A note was pushed over on the desk, with a sentence written on it:

“Bought it yesterday while hanging out with Sister Li, couldn’t finish it, saved one for you.”

Wen Yu took it, and accidentally brushed against the girl’s delicate arm, her skin smooth and delicate like jade.

Fu Chengque recoiled as if shocked, glaring fiercely at Wen Yu.

Wen Yu wanted to say that he hadn’t looked down under the desk, so it was indeed accidental.

Seeing that Fu Chengque wasn’t angry, Wen Yu cheerfully unwrapped the candy and, taking advantage of the moment the teacher lowered his head, slipped it into his mouth. The whole process was smooth and skillful, without any hesitation.

Fu Chengque felt like applauding.

Wen Yu then wrote on the note, “Sweet, very delicious, wait for me to go to school together tomorrow?”

Fu Chengque read it and replied, “We’ll see, if it happens, we’ll go together.”

【Wen Yu】: Okay, I have a headache in English class.

Fu Chengque: Haha, your English is the worst. But if you sincerely beg, there’s a stewardess who can teach you if she’s available.

【Wen Yu】: Really?!!

Fu Chengque: Of course!

【Wen Yu】: You’re not angry? You’re so generous?

Fu Chengque: I’m happy when you beg me, why would I be angry?

【Wen Yu】: Then I’ll beg you. Where do you know the stewardess from? Why didn’t you introduce her to me earlier?

Fu Chengque smugly took the note, read it, and then entered a brief moment of stillness before a suppressed anger appeared.

She tore the note apart and said softly:

“Wen Yu, I’ll hit you.”
