Grab The Heroine and Run Away Ch.26.1

“Sorry for disturbing you…” Lin Weining abruptly closed the door.

Why didn’t I knock?

Even though I returned to my own dorm room, why didn’t I knock?

The kind-hearted girl swallowed her saliva. Although she had just stepped into Xinran’s door, it shouldn’t suddenly offer her such a big candy—wait a moment, wasn’t the one just being lifted Xin Nuo?

The blushing girl couldn’t help but cover her face with her hand. Out of politeness, she replayed the scene she had witnessed a minute ago three times in her mind.

After a brief calm, she looked up at the door number.

“Knock, knock.”

“Can I come in?”

A muffled “come in” came from inside the room.

Xu Heran was squatting on the floor, her hands pinching her ears. As Lin Weining entered, she smiled brilliantly at her. Lin Weining subconsciously returned the smile, but she noticed that the girl squatting on the floor had a red mouth, nose, and cheeks… the usually gentle girl couldn’t help blushing along.

“Um…”

Why!

Why did I have to blush on their behalf!

Lin Weining shouted inwardly.

“Big Sister Weining, have you eaten?” Xu Heran, squatting on the floor and pinching her ears, asked her.

“Um, yes, I have. How about you?” Lin Weining sat on a stool, turning to look at them. She didn’t have the courage to ask Xu Heran why she was squatting on the floor. She had probably been punished by Xin Nuo.

“Ignore her.” Sitting on the stool, the expressionless girl said coldly. Her slender legs were crossed, and her delicate shoulders leaned against the back of the chair. She sat with an air of arrogance.

The girl’s smooth arms radiated a gentle light under the lamp. Her slender fingers held a silver fork, and she gracefully picked up a strand of carrot with deliberate slowness, placing it by her lips. Light spilled from the corners of her eyes and fell onto the girl squatting near the stool.

“By the way, pearls should count as stones, stones don’t need to eat.” Xin Nuo said coldly, her palm-sized face showing red blotches, a result of Xu Heran’s rubbing.

“Ugh…”

Xu Heran pouted, her mouth drooping.

“Hmm?”

Xin Nuo glanced over, and Xu Heran immediately closed her mouth, tilting her head to look at her. Xin Nuo took a bite of the carrot strip, chewed it slowly in her mouth, and then furrowed her brow.

Nuo Nuo doesn’t like carrots.

“Give it to me!” Xu Heran quickly said.

She rested her chin on Xin Nuo’s leg, her eyes sparkling. She opened her mouth wide, her lips red and teeth white, “Ah—”

“Nope.” Xin Nuo deliberately threw the bitten carrot strip into the trash can. “See this piece of carrot? I won’t give it to you even if you beg!”

“Whine, whine, whine…” Xu Heran pretended to cry.

“Do you realize your mistake?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

“Would you dare again?”

“I wouldn’t dare.”

“Hmph.”

“Nuo Nuo, I love you~”

“Hehe.”

Lin Weining: “…”

Lin Weining: “…”

Lin Weining: “…………”

It seemed like she was once again being ignored.

Well, whatever.

She was satisfied with her knock! Thanks for the hospitality!

Lin Weining smiled happily, lowered her head to fiddle with the mp4 in her hand. Her ears stood straight up, regretting that she didn’t have a phone and couldn’t share this beautiful scene with the Xinran Sisters!

What a perfect picture of the queen taming a puppy!

However… well, thinking about the image of Xu Heran hugging Xin Nuo, a worried thought emerged in Lin Weining’s mind. Something seemed off—was it Xinran… or Ranxin?

No, the name Xinran doesn’t sound good. Heranxin, Heranuo, Fuelburn, Ranuo?

Right, Heranxin has a nickname, so… Sincerity?

“Clap!” Lin Weining clapped her hands, excitedly exclaimed, “This is it, ‘Sincerity’!”

Sincerity and a promise, only Heranxin!

Xu Heran and Xin Nuo’s gazes followed, landing on Lin Weining, who was happily and foolishly smiling.

“?”

Is this how Weining acts in private?

Xu Heran thought to herself, secretly stretched out her leg that was squatting, and smiled at Xin Nuo’s gaze, “Nuo Nuo, did you know? Pearls aren’t stones, they’re organic gemstones.”

“Pearls might not be stones, but ‘pearls’ can still mean stones,” Xin Nuo’s expression remained cold. She pulled a nearby chair over. “Sit here.”

“Hehe.” Xu Heran was pleasantly surprised, quickly got up and sat on the chair, her voice immediately sugary sweet, “Thank you, Sister Nuo Nuo.”

“Good girl, eat first.” Xin Nuo’s gaze softened. She reached up and tucked a strand of Xu Heran’s hair behind her ear, whispering softly, “Once you’re full, you can go back.”

Xu Heran, who was happy for less than two seconds: “?”

“Do you see the bed next to Sister Nuo Nuo?” Xin Nuo chuckled softly. Her brows and eyes blossomed like elegant flowers, exuding a faint charm. Her laughter was as alluring as a flower, captivating and enchanting, especially for captivating puppies.

“Tonight, I won’t let you sleep.”

“Whine—”

Early the next morning, Xu Heran got up early, relying on her natural good looks and without any makeup. She waited at the door of Xin Nuo’s dormitory.

“Morning,  Little Pearl.”

“Good morning, Heran.”

“Did Ran Ran sleep well? Let your sister give you a hug.”

Occasionally, passing trainees greeted Xu Heran as they walked by, saying all sorts of things, taking the opportunity to tease her.

“Good morning!” Xu Heran was in high spirits, brimming with energy. She let herself be hugged and teased, along with a bonus smile, making anyone who saw her feel better.

“Waiting for Xin Nuo? Well, we’ll head over first. See you later!” Sun Lingxi waved with a mischievous smile, “Bye~”

“Sure!” Xu Heran pressed her index and middle fingers together, touching her forehead and pointing forward with a cool demeanor, saying, “See you later.”

“Click.”

The door behind Xu Heran suddenly opened, and she lost control of her body, tilting backward and stumbling into a cloud of rose fragrance.

“I hear your voice so early in the morning.” A slightly hoarse and lazy voice came from above Xu Heran’s head. The person who had fallen simply leaned against the shoulder of the one who opened the door, tilting her head back and saying with a playful smile, “Nuo Nuo, good morning!”

Xin Nuo wore a pink short-sleeved training shirt vest, a gray jacket draped over her shoulders, her hair scattered, still wearing a white baseball cap. Her black eyes beneath the brim gazed calmly at Xu Heran.

“Get up, you’re so heavy.”

“No way!” Xu Heran, who had initially wanted to get up, heard this and intentionally pressed herself onto Xin Nuo, even puckering her lips and making a “muah muah” kissing sound. “Here’s a good morning kiss for my beloved Sister Nuo Nuo.”

“Go away, you’re so gross.”

Xin Nuo pushed her away in disgust.

“Hehe.”

The trainees who were rushing to record the live performance had left, leaving the dormitory building quiet. The two of them walked side by side outside.

“Tomorrow is the Dragon Boat Festival. Are you going home, Nuo Nuo?” Xu Heran asked Xin Nuo.

“Yeah.”

Not only was she going back, but she also needed to undergo a comprehensive examination by her mother. Right now, the most important thing for Xin Nuo was her mother’s life.

“Can you take me with you?” Xu Heran said pitifully, “I have nowhere else to go!”

Her family was all overseas, and due to the time difference, there was hardly anything she could do in a day.

Xin Nuo glanced at her. “Why should I take you?”

“Look! Tomorrow, everyone is going back to celebrate the festival, and I’m left all alone in this deserted training camp. Look at how fragile and delicate I am. What if someone tries to bully me while you’re not around?” Xu Heran pretended to be pitiful.

The girl with the cap sneered, “Fragile?”

“Delicate?”

She chewed on these two words, and suddenly recalled yesterday afternoon when Xu Heran had lifted her up. A hint of warmth appeared on the face beneath the cap’s brim. Following this trend, it wasn’t far from the scene of Xu Heran’s “Nuo Nuo lifting up” fantasy becoming a reality.

So she coldly retorted, “If someone tries to bully you, just lift them up and throw them out.”

“Can’t you do that?” Xin Nuo teased, “Don’t you like lifting people up?”

Xu Heran was speechless, pursing her lips, feeling extremely guilty.

After all, the events of yesterday were too intense, and she had even been so excited that she couldn’t sleep for most of the night. It was hard to forget.

She observed Xin Nuo’s expression, cautiously approached, her arm pressing against Xin Nuo’s body, and said with a playful smile, “Why would I want to hold anyone else? My embrace is only for Nuo Nuo!”

My heart, reserved only for Nuo Nuo!

The image of the girl shouting under the spotlight still echoed in Xin Nuo’s ears. Her lips hadn’t yet curved into a smile when she suddenly remembered the morning incident—someone saying, “Let Sister hug you,” and someone obediently complying.

“Heh.”

Xin Nuo’s lips suddenly dropped, the corners of her eyes fell, and like fluttering butterfly wings, they lifted, revealing a hint of darkness.

“Little trickster.”

The soft, alluring voice murmured softly, and Xu Heran, who was very close to her, felt goosebumps rise on her arm. It was as if Xin Nuo was whispering in her ear, exhaling those two words with warm breath.

Xu Heran suddenly found herself speechless, a strange feeling surging within her, leaving her flustered and tingling.

She remained stunned for a good three seconds, until Xin Nuo ahead raised an eyebrow and turned to look at her.

Beneath the clear summer sky, the blue expanse unfurled like a gentle curtain, pristine and transparent, devoid of clouds.

The girl bathed in sunlight stood within this curtain, her profile distinct, eyes slightly narrowed, leaving long traces at the corners. The trees by the cobblestone path rustled with a “swish-swash” as the emerald leaves danced in the wind. Just as a leaf was about to descend to Xin Nuo’s feet, Xu Heran suddenly moved.

She swiftly stepped forward, arms outstretched, and abruptly embraced the person.

“Nuo Nuo.”

Xu Heran’s chin pressed tightly against Xin Nuo’s shoulder, inhaling her scent deeply, whispering, “My good Nuo Nuo.”

“I really like you…” Xu Heran murmured, her eyes half-closed.

“I just want to hold you…” Xu Heran chuckled softly, her expression taking on a more serious note. “You have no idea how much I like you.”

“If you don’t like it, I won’t hug anyone else in the future.”

“Besides, they’re not like Nuo Nuo, who is all fragrant and soft,” Xu Heran’s eyes held a mischievous glint, “Nuo Nuo is the best to hug!”

“…”

Xin Nuo’s throat moved, suddenly realizing the implications of Xu Heran’s “fragrant and soft” comment. The doubt that had started to creep into her heart due to Xu Heran’s sincere words was immediately extinguished by a spark of anger.

“Xu Heran!”

“Stop making things up!”

“Hehehe~ See! I said it! Nuo Nuo is indeed soft!”

“And sweet~” Xu Heran winked her left eye, her smile mischievous. She opened her lips slowly and silently, trying to get Xin Nuo to read her lips.

“Round and—”

“Enough.”

The person let go and sprinted away.

“Why won’t you admit it? This is my empirical knowledge, and practice is the sole criterion for testing truth, don’t you understand?”

Xu Heran ran down the road cheerfully, and Xin Nuo removed her cap, angrily chasing after her.

“Stop.”

“I won’t unless you admit that you’re soft!”

“Are you saying you’re soft or not?” Xu Heran even made a “slurping” sound, intentionally swallowing saliva, opening her arms and making circles, “Wow~”

“Xu Heran—”

Next to a trash can outside the recording hall, two people were eating when a gust of wind swept past them. Neither of them flinched, raising their hands to shield their food.

A second later, the person who had rushed out came back, waving with a cheerful smile, “Hey, Xiao Hua, Haya!”

For some unknown reason, Laurel had gained the nickname “Xiao Hua” one day, her expression blank as she raised her hand.

She held a plastic bag with steamy corn inside, a layer of condensation forming on the bag.

“Where did you get that?” Xu Heran reached out unceremoniously.

At that moment, Xin Nuo caught up, took a deep breath, and with one hand grasped Xu Heran’s arm, raising the other hand.

Smack, smack, smack.

It landed on her buttocks.

“Ah!”

Xu Heran jumped up with a yelp, playfully turned around, and handed the corn to Xin Nuo, whose face was either red from anger or from running, “Nuo Nuo, I was wrong, please have some corn.”

Xin Nuo finally managed to give Xu Heran a good smack, feeling instantly relieved. She leaned on Xu Heran’s shoulder, catching her breath, and took the corn. She took a small bite, “Where did the corn come from?”

“Bought it,” Laurel said.

Haya shrugged her shoulders and tossed the thoroughly gnawed corn cob into the trash can, “Got the timing wrong, woke up early, came here and found out there’s no recording scheduled. It happened to coincide with the old lady.”

“She was buying corn from the old lady just outside the railing.”

Laurel also happened to notice an old lady who pushed a tricycle and sold corn on the road outside the training camp every day. Their training time happened to coincide with the departure time of office workers, and by then the old lady’s cart would only have a few corn cobs left. So, they bought them all, allowing the old lady to finish work early. However, Laurel didn’t think it was necessary to mention this.

Xu Heran nodded as she munched on the corn, “You’re quite resourceful!”

Laurel was puzzled.

“You even had cash on you!”

Laurel: “…Just a habit.”

“A good habit,” Xu Heran gave her a thumbs up.

The four tall girls stood by the trash can, munching on corn. Some hurriedly arriving trainees saw them, suppressed their laughter, and greeted them.

Jiang Qiong yawned as she walked over, leaning against Laurel. She grumbled unhappily, “So annoying, Xu Yanran caused a scene last night, claiming someone stole her stuff and threatened to search through other people’s luggage.”

“Huh?” Xu Heran raised an eyebrow upon hearing Xu Yanran’s name.

Jiang Qiong recounted how Xu Yanran had accused others of stealing from her luggage last night, then smirked, “From what she was implying last night, it seemed like she was accusing me.”

“I told her to check the surveillance footage, but she didn’t dare. What kind of person is she!” Jiang Qiong angrily took a bite of the corn, the sweet taste instantly soothing her heart.

When Xu Yanran caused a scene last night, she asked her what she had dropped. At first, Xu Yanran stuttered and hesitated, but when pressed, she suddenly became indignant and claimed it was a limited edition bracelet her father had given her. It was something Jiang Qiong could never afford in her lifetime.

Jiang Qiong initially thought it was an SD card that Xu Yanran had dropped. She was about to call the staff and demand that they search for it. She wanted to involve the police to investigate and show her what something that the common people could never afford looked like.

However, when she mentioned calling the police, Xu Yanran immediately refused. She said not to bother, not to cause any negative impact on the program because of a limited edition bracelet.

This situation sounded a bit strange.

Xu Heran thought.

“I said it was noisy in the corridor last night,” Haya yawned, “I was too tired to go out and check. If she dares to bully you, just let me know.”

“But, I happened to call home last night, and I ran into the staff cleaning the room. They said the original camera had been accidentally damaged, and the SD card inside was missing. The recordings of the trainees’ conversations with their families were all gone,” Haya casually added, “According to the staff, the one who broke the camera was Xu Yanran. Did her bracelet fall in there?”

Jiang Qiong, who was nibbling on the corn, froze.

SD card?

“No wonder,” Laurel suddenly said, “The program notified me that if there’s a need to re-record scenes of contacting our families, they’d rather not. Too troublesome.”

Even if they recorded it, it couldn’t be broadcasted. That irritating feeling in the throat.

Haya patted Laurel on the shoulder.

Xin Nuo discarded the corn, pulled out a handkerchief to wipe her hands, her movements deliberate. She smiled gently, “I think, there’s no such coincidental thing in the world.”

“Huh?” Haya and Laurel looked at her.

Xin Nuo was composed, she raised her head and smiled at Xu Heran. With her guidance, the other three all turned to look at Xu Heran. Upon this inspection, it turned out that the usually cheerful and enthusiastic Little Pearl had furrowed eyebrows, pursed lips, and appeared somewhat agitated.

“Did I tell you guys…” Xu Heran hesitated for a moment, then whispered, “Xu Yanran, she’s actually my half-sibling on my dad’s side.”

Haya and Jiang Qiong immediately widened their eyes, even Laurel’s deadpan expression showed a hint of disbelief.

“Her, you?”

Haya sized up Xu Heran, thinking about Xu Yanran’s not-so-tall stature, her pale and delicate face, and frowned.

These two people didn’t seem alike at all.

“I take after my mom,” Xu Heran explained, “She’s the child of a scumbag and a mistress.”

“Oh~” The three of them spoke with varying degrees of intonation.

No wonder.

“Also, I feel like she’s not very friendly towards me,” Xu Heran continued.

“You’re being humble,” Jiang Qiong immediately chimed in.

During the ranking recording, Xu Yanran’s comments were more than just unfriendly; they practically pointed at Xu Heran and accused her of relying on money and her appearance.

“But she’s quite bold, daring to come on this show,” Haya smiled, raised her hand, and patted Xu Heran’s shoulder, “It’s a good thing you turned over a new leaf and chose a different path. You abandoned the princess’s throne for the role of a Little Pearl. Otherwise, you’d be the one feeling miserable right now.”

Suddenly, they understood why there were frequent reports of Xu Heran “bullying” the trainees, with the bullied often being Xu Yanran.

“What does she want?” Xu Heran furrowed her brows, turning to Jiang Qiong, “Could it be that because you and I have a good relationship, she wants to tarnish your reputation by accusing you of theft?”

She asked Jiang Qiong.

“Doesn’t seem likely,” Xin Nuo whispered, “It’s probably more about why she smashed the camera. What dark secret is she trying to hide?”

That was a tough one to guess.

Xu Heran sighed.

Beside her, Jiang Qiong frowned, wanting to say something but hesitating for a moment before ultimately keeping silent. She wasn’t sure about the contents of the SD card in her possession yet. She didn’t want to get Xu Heran’s hopes up prematurely.

The atmosphere grew somewhat silent. Xu Heran touched her chin and raised her voice.

“Don’t be afraid. When the soldiers come, the generals will block the water and the earth will cover it. We stand upright and fear nothing from her,” she said, puffing out her chest. “Xu Yanran is two months younger than me. At least in terms of experience, I’ve surpassed her!”

Someone was incredibly confident. “I’m more mature than her.”

Everyone: “…”
