My Childhood Sweetheart Gradually Puffed Up CH.38

Chapter 38: I Looked for You in Your Bed, But You Weren’t There

On Thursday and Friday, everyone’s mood fluctuated greatly.

After each exam, Fu Chengque always compared answers with her desk mate Wen Yu. If they matched, she’d be delighted; if not, she’d pout in disappointment.

After the last exam ended, Wen Yu estimated that he was secure in the top five, but the top three would depend on his classmates’ performance.

Although his comprehensive learning ability had improved significantly, his foundation was weak. Catching up so much in six months was already impressive.

When Wen Yu saw Fu Chengque packing up and heading home after the exam, he caught up with her.

“Fu Chengque, why are you in such a hurry?”

“I have something to do.”

“You have something to do right after the exam? When did you get so busy?”

“Oh! I’m running late, I’ll see you next week, Wen Yu!”

Then she hurried away.

Wen Yu didn’t try to catch up.

Fu Chengque’s words touched on some sensitive topics for him.

In his previous life, he also went to and from school with Fu Chengque, but one afternoon of a certain month, she, like she is now, hurriedly ran out, Wen Yu tried to catch up, and Fu Chengque also said, “See you next week, Wen Yu.” Then from the second week onwards, their time together to and from school became once every two days, then every three days, then every five days, until there was no more.

He wasn’t sad, just regretful.

At that time, he still thought that childhood sweethearts should be childhood sweethearts for half a lifetime, but later he realized that with just one thought, one action, even family members could become estranged, let alone Qingmei.

After realizing this, his affection and longing for Fu Chengque diminished a lot, he only worried about whether his childhood friend was healthy.

Moreover, everyone has things to do. He himself is not relaxed this weekend, he must go to the Nancheng, discuss personnel expansion and work arrangements, and most importantly, he has to give some rewards.

This is crucial for whether he can buy a large and good location for the mountain.

Lou Xuanli and the others may have different plans for the future, but at least for now, they are dedicated and have no other thoughts. What rewards should be given…

Wen Yu returned home leisurely. Mother Wen had already prepared a table full of dishes, and Father Wen had also come back early, tidying up the table and opening a bottle of beer.

“Xiao Yu is back, wash your hands and sit down for dinner.”

Wen Yu did as he was told, and the family quickly sat down to eat.

“Xiao Yu, how did the exam go?” Father Wen took a sip of his drink and asked.

“Just asking! We haven’t even taken a few bites of the food yet, and you’re asking.” Mother Wen was unhappy. “Xiao Yu, eat your food first, don’t mind him.”

“It’s okay, Mom. I feel okay about this exam. I can guarantee top five, but if I can’t make it to top three, then I don’t know.”

The couple were overjoyed at his words. “Wow, that’s great, top five in the class, not bad at all.”

Isn’t it good? Just over a year ago, Wen Yu’s grades were still in the bottom half of the class. Some subjects were even close to the bottom.

In just one year, his overall grades had climbed to the top five in the class. He should be content.

More importantly, Wen Yu wasn’t climbing from freshman to sophomore year; he started climbing from senior year. As long as he maintained a stable mindset, his university entrance exam results wouldn’t be bad at all, unlike those who tried to boost their scores in freshman year but dropped in senior year.

In an instant, the amount of food on Wen Yu’s plate increased significantly.

The atmosphere was right.

“Mom, Dad, I want to go to Nancheng tomorrow, is it okay?”

The couple paused their chopsticks.

Father Wen was a little surprised, “What are you going to Nancheng for? Is it arranged by the school?”

“No, I’m going by myself. I saw there’s an electronic keyboard exchange exhibition there, and I want to go take a look.”

“Electronic keyboard? You’re going alone?”

Mother Wen said with some concern, “Xiao Yu, don’t get obsessed with miscellaneous things at this time. The university entrance exam is coming soon.”

Father Wen immediately criticized, “What are you saying? Xiao Yu is so grown up, almost an adult, he understands these things himself. Just finished the exam, I think it’s okay to relax with some music.”

“But still, he’s going alone. How can you not worry about your son getting into trouble?”

“Nancheng is so close, what can happen? Go, I said!” Father Wen became indignant, “He’s a man now. If he can’t come back from such a trip, then he shouldn’t come back at all. When I was his age, I had been working in Guang Province for two years…”

“Okay okay, don’t talk about your crappy old stories.”

After arguing, they finally reached a consensus.

Everything was ready, departure tomorrow!

At night, after Wen Yu finished washing up and lay in bed reading a novel, Fu Chengque sent a message.

【Fu Chengque】: [Excited cat] Wen Yu, guess where I am?

【Wen Yu】: Well, you’re not at home, I’m in your bedroom, nothing in the cabinet, even checked under the covers, no one there.

【Fu Chengque】: ???

【Fu Chengque】: What are you sweetly doing in my bedroom!!

【Fu Chengque】: I’m warning you, just because our relationship has improved a little lately, doesn’t mean you can act recklessly.

【Fu Chengque】: Hurry back to your doghouse.

【Wen Yu】: Your bed isn’t good, it’s hard, needs to be changed.

【Fu Chengque】: !!!

【Wen Yu】: But it smells good.

【Fu Chengque】: I’m going to bite you.

【Fu Chengque】: Wait… Oh, you’re playing tricks on me again. You don’t have my house keys either, hahaha.

Wen Yu also got excited. He put on his slippers and ran to the neighboring Fu family. He saw Father Fu watching TV in the living room and happily greeted him.

“Uncle, watching TV?”

“Xiao Yu, looking for Qiao’er? Qiao’er isn’t here today… Come, watch ‘Iron and Blood Hong’an’ with me for a while.”

“Uncle, I’m busy too. I’m not looking for Chengque. I’m just going to her bedroom to grab a book she borrowed from me and hasn’t returned.”

“Oh, okay. Go ahead.”

That’s the advantage of living next door.

Wen Yu entered Fu Chengque’s bedroom, messed up her neatly folded quilt, and then took a picture.

Then he neatly folded it back, randomly picked a book from the bookshelf, and returned to his own room. He sent the photo to Fu Chengque.

【Wen Yu】: [Image]

【Wen Yu】: See, you’re not in bed at all. Why didn’t you believe me?

【Fu Chengque】: ?!?!

【Fu Chengque】: You’re really sleeping on my bed! I’ll shark you when I get back.

【Wen Yu】: I’m lying down, do it yourself.

In another city, lying on Lou Xuanli’s bed, Fu Chengque was almost furious. After a while, she suddenly realized that her parents were at home.

So she quickly sent a message to her dad and immediately received a reply: “Wen Yu just came by, went to your bedroom, grabbed a book, and left.”

You got me, Wen Yu!

To trick me like this, putting in so much effort.

Fu Chengque’s head was buzzing with anger. She felt like she was too easy to fool, not only easy to fool, but also slow to react.

The system was useless too, not giving her any reaction ability, letting her be bullied.

And deliberately setting tasks that she couldn’t complete at all, making her struggle…

Sob sob…

If this continues, before becoming Empress, she might not be able to live anymore.

She had planned to bring some gifts for the left-behind child Wen Yu, but what’s the point now? Just let him die!

***

The next morning, Wen Yu’s mom packed his things, and he set off for the Jiangcheng railway station with his bag on his back.

It’s rare to go to the provincial capital city, should he bring some local specialties and gifts for Fu Chengque?
