The Players And The Protagonist Want To Kill Me – Volume 1, Chapter 11

Chapter 11: Oh my god, NPCs are stealing monsters from players

“Oh damn, a boss spawned!”

“Oh god, we can’t hold on anymore, where’s the protagonist? Go get Ye Hao!”

“Quick, use Identify !”

Soon, a player desperately approached Megil, cast Identify, then took a screenshot and posted it to the public screen, only to be surrounded by several town guards and killed, meeting their demise.

[Name: Megil]

[Identity: Mayor of Dawn Town, Guard Captain (Temporary)]

[Strength: Level 11 knight (11-20)]

[Threat level: Difficult]

[…]

“A level 11 knight? That’s outrageous! We’re only at level two or three, what can we do?”

“We can’t even see his Skills and Equipment. The level difference is too much.”

But regardless of how much the players complained, Megil had already charged into the midst of the players. Although he wasn’t riding a horse, at this moment, he transformed into one!

“Follow me, Charge!”

Megil roared, and the guards behind him followed his command closely, like a sharp sword piercing through the defenses that the players had built painstakingly.

This battle was not only to defend Dawn Town but also to preserve his position as mayor. Megil, with bloodshot eyes, looked at the players as if they were his archenemies.

“Why the hell are you yelling so loud!”

“The boss is charging over, quick, hide!”

“Where the hell is Ye Hao? Where’s the protagonist?”

With a difference in levels close to ten, with the overwhelming superiority in rank, Megil moved through the battlefield as if in an uninhabited land.

Even without using Skills, the players were still brushed aside by Megil and met their demise.

“Heroic Spirits! Stand behind me!”

After endless calls, Ye Hao, who had been missing for a while, finally appeared.

“Fortress of the Sacred Shield!”

Ye Hao raised his sword and shouted loudly, surrounding himself with a gentle white light. A milky-white shield appeared around Ye Hao and the players within a diameter of ten meters.

“Oh damn! The protagonist’s awesome!”

“Brother Hao’s Skills are so cool! Those guards couldn’t even touch us anymore!”

“When can we start learning such cool Skills?”

Before the players could finish their exclamations, Ye Hao raised his Longsword again, wearing a smug smile on his face, and shouted loudly once more.

“Aura of Glory!”

Whoosh—

Instantly, every corner of the battlefield was covered with dazzling golden light. This golden light spread out from Ye Hao, turning him into a small sun.

“Oh damn! It’s blinding me!”

“I feel like I’ve stared directly at the sun today!”

“Damn, is that really Aura of Glory? It feels more like a flashbang!”

Ye Hao smiled. The golden light on him didn’t keep shining like this, but within two or three breaths, it had already shrunk and disappeared, eventually turning into a ten-meter diameter golden halo around him.

The players within the halo instantly felt their attributes enhanced and filled with courage.

“Does this game really make you feel like you’ve been buffed? Even emotions are affected?”

“I can sense the power coursing through my veins!”

“Shatter the darkness with thunder!”

The players roared in defiance and prepared to counterattack against Megil and the town guards.

With the help of Ye Hao’s two major amplification Skills, the power gap between the players and the guards began to narrow. The battle gradually shifted from the players being slaughtered to a stalemate, and as time passed, the scales of victory began to tilt slowly towards the players’ side.

Players could continuously consume Experience points to Resurrection, once their stamina was fully restored, they became tireless, indifferent to life and death.

The guards were different. After fighting for so long, they had begun to feel tired. Although this group of thugs seemed weak, they seemed impossible to kill.

Gradually, some town guards noticed something was wrong. They found that the thug they had previously chopped in half had somehow reappeared in front of them.

He was still shouting arrogantly, “Your grandpa is back again!”

“They are demons! Undead demons!” A town guard shouted in horror.

“Heavens above, what are we fighting against?!”

The town guards who noticed the anomaly were far more than one or two. The increasing number of guards uncovering the thugs’ ability to resurrect sparked widespread fear, triggering a chaotic retreat.

Starting from the first guard who dropped his weapon and fled, it was like lighting a fuse, and large groups of militia guards began to flee in panic.

“Cowards! You cowards! Deserters are not allowed!”

Megil exclaimed angrily with a red face and a thick neck, but he couldn’t stop the rout of the town guards.

“We can’t continue battling in this manner,” Megil muttered anxiously, eyeing the knight among the players whose entire body was glowing, realizing he wasn’t equipped to confront someone like him.

“We need to find the Lord, only by relying on the Lord can we survive.”

Considering this, Megil reorganized the remaining guards who hadn’t fled.

“Everyone, heed my command: Charge toward the Mayor’s Mansion and break through!”

Megil shouted, rallying his guards. His bulky frame charged like a wild boar, directly knocking down any players in his path.

“Oh no, the boss is trying to escape!”

“Where’s the mage? Cast Firewall! Cast Dilemma! Cast Frostbolt!”

“Umm, have Mage Apprentices learned these Skills? We only have Fireball, Waterball, and Gust.”

“Warriors, catch up and stop him!”

“This AI is incredible! Will it retreat if it can’t win?”

As one group fled and the other gave chase, they quickly reached the Mayor’s Mansion.

Megil was already in a sorry state at this point, his exquisite armor soaked with a mixture of sweat and blood, the lining of the armor sticking to his woolen shirt, making him feel very uncomfortable.

“If only my horse were here,” Megil cursed to himself.

With his horse, he could unleash knight Skills—could these thugs corner him like this?

Despite appearing weak, Megil couldn’t comprehend why these thugs possessed numerous mages among them. And so, enduring a relentless barrage of low-level spells, even with armor for protection, he sustained significant injuries. Only around a dozen guards remained by his side.

In the eyes of the players, Megil’s HP was only twenty percent left at this point, which was the sure kill line. Usually, bosses would enter a Frenzy state and unleash various finishing moves at this time.

A group of players stood ready, on high alert.

“The L…!”

Just as Megil was about to seek help from the Eagle Lord in the Mayor’s Mansion, a Fireball hit him squarely in the face.

“Well done!”

“You interrupted his big move, brothers, charge!”

“Let’s kill the boss, and loot the Equipment!”

The players shouted various slogans as they rushed towards the cornered Megil and his guards.

And every time Megil wanted to speak, a Fireball would accurately hit him in the face.

Standing at the back of the player team, [Scheming Frog] had a cold smile on his lips. A flaming fireball spun in his hand, waiting to be thrown at the boss when he tried to speak.

Back when he was mingling in various ARPG online games, he was known as the boss mechanism expert, relying on interrupting boss Skills during their casting animation was simply basic operation.

“Radiant Cross Slash!”

At this moment, a righteous shout rang out from behind the players. A huge cross-shaped sword energy suddenly flew out, chopping down on Megil, who was left with only a sliver of health, and then the residual force pierced through a small house behind Megil.

Poor Megil couldn’t even shout out the Lord’s name before he died, nor could he ride his horse.

“Oh no…”

“Damn it, I almost got the first kill! Who’s the idiot? (▼皿▼#)”

“Oh my god, NPC and players fighting over mobs!”

“So after battling fiercely for half a day, the boss is nearly defeated, and the protagonist lands the final blow? It seems he even received a substantial heal?”

“Why is he acting like a dog? (╯‵□′)╯︵┴─┴”

Cough, cough—

Seeing the increasingly unfriendly looks from the players, Ye Hao coughed awkwardly. He quickly tried to smooth things over:

“Justice will eventually prevail over evil, Megil’s fate is of his own making. Thanks to the help of all Heroic Spirits, Megil’s armor, weapons, and the money he saved up can be considered as additional rewards for all Heroic Spirits.”

The players’ faces looked better now. They had obtained quite a bit of Equipment and experience from killing the guards earlier, and the protagonist getting the final blow was probably part of the plot. As long as he didn’t compete with them for the Equipment dropped by the boss, everything was fine.

“Yeah, there must be a lot of good stuff in the mayor’s house. Let’s go in and plunder.”

“Let’s go together, those guards are broke, I haven’t seen the currency of this world yet!”

“You slaughtered my guards, killed my servants, and now you want to rob my money? You’re causing quite the havoc in my territory, aren’t you being too arrogant?”

Just as the players were preparing to enter the Mayor’s Mansion together to plunder, a cold male voice filled with anger, like a fierce wind in the bitter cold of winter, swept past their ears, sending shivers down their spines.

They looked up at the sound, their confusion gradually turning into shock and stupefaction.
