I Obviously Just Want to be a Minor Character CH.5
Chapter 5: I’m Really a Clever Little Genius
In the silent darkness, a group of suspicious people suddenly appeared in the outskirts. The sound of their footsteps brought a hint of hostility to the air.
Su Ming, hiding in the grass, stared at this scene and looked at each suspicious guest.
Everyone wore masks, some covering their entire face and some only half of it. Regardless, none of them could be clearly seen.
However, they all wore the same battle uniform and carried weapons on their bodies. It was clear that they were not people to be trifled with.
Su Ming was certain that these people were either hunters or warlocks.
A group of twenty to thirty people, and they dared to run out to the outskirts in the middle of the night. Su Ming didn’t believe that they weren’t confident in their abilities.
The next thing that happened confirmed Su Ming’s thoughts.
A masked person at the front gave some sort of order to two people in the crowd, making them walk out of the line.
The two people spread their hands out, and circles appeared on their palms one after another.
Without a doubt, these two were warlocks.
They began to cast a spiritual technique, causing streams of light composed of particles to sweep out like sound waves.
Su Ming’s heart sank.
“They’re using the Life detection technique?”
Life detection was a mid-level spiritual technique, ranked forty-fifth in the hierarchy. It was a detection-type technique.
This technique could be used to detect life within a certain range.
Su Ming recognized this spiritual technique. Without hesitation, he opened the backpack interface and pulled out a bottle of medicine.
It was a hidden potion. After consuming it, one’s own life reaction would be reduced, and the user would stop almost all of their life activities for an hour without any discomfort or side effects.
This type of alchemy potion was usually used when entering extremely harsh environments.
For example, in a swamp filled with poisonous gas or deep underwater, consuming such a potion would allow one to not need to breathe or metabolise. People could explore those harsh environments with this potion.
Sometimes, some people would also use this potion to play dead in order to fool their enemies.
This alchemy potion was not cheap. At least, ordinary students did not have the conditions to carry it around at all times. Only professional hunters and warlocks would carry it.
Su Ming had also received a bottle of the same kind of potion during a lucky draw event and kept it in his bag until today.
After taking it out, Su Ming soundlessly consumed the potion.
That was right, he planned to use this potion to hide from the suspicious figures detection.
“Life detection” was a spiritual technique used to detect life.
In other words, as long as one wasn’t a living being, they wouldn’t trigger a reaction from “Life detection.”
Although Su Ming didn’t know much about this suspicious group, he couldn’t be sure what they would do if they discovered someone nearby. He wouldn’t gamble with his own safety.
So, Su Ming had no intention of exposing himself and instinctively chose to hide.
The particles of detection swept over him without triggering any life response.
But the two warlocks didn’t stop there. They began to walk around, continuing to search.
The masked man waved his hand, sending the other suspected hunters off in different directions, as if they were searching for something.
“Could it be that they’re here for me?”
Su Ming’s heart sank in the grass.
But soon, he dispelled this thought.
“I never revealed my true strength this year, nor did I ever take on any missions that would draw attention to myself. They have no reason to come after me.”
Furthermore, Su Ming had only decided to run out of the academy at the last minute tonight. No one knew he would appear here, so it was unlikely that this suspicious group had rushed over in such a hurry, not afraid of alerting him.
On top of that, a group of twenty or thirty people composed of hunters and warlocks would be overkill to deal with him.
Based on these considerations, Su Ming believed that these people were unlikely to be targeting him.
Besides, there was no reason for them to be.
“But if that’s the case, what are they looking for?”
Su Ming only had this thought before giving up on the idea.
The reason was simple: it had nothing to do with him.
“Let’s just get out of here first.”
This was all Su Ming could think.
A suspicious group appeared in the middle of the night outside the city while searching for something—no matter how you looked at it, it didn’t seem like a small matter.
Regardless of their goal, it was certain that getting involved would cause serious trouble.
Su Ming had no interest in courting trouble.
Don’t forget, his dream was to live long enough to become invincible.
Su Ming was still far from being invincible in the world, so he naturally wouldn’t voluntarily get involved in such a suspicious incident.
“I’m leaving, I’m leaving.”
Su Ming planned to quietly slip away.
But in the following second, Su Ming stopped in his tracks.
He suddenly had an idea.
“Don’t tell me they’re going to pull out some cheesy trope at this point?”
Countless TV shows and novels flashed through Su Ming’s mind at that moment, allowing him to easily find similar cheesy scenes.
For example, when he was preparing to quietly leave, there would often be a forced plotline that would drop.
Such as kicking a can or knocking over a bottle. Either way, it would be some sort of “accident” that would cause him to be discovered by his enemies.
This was a cheesy plotline that appeared in countless stories and was also known as a forced plotline.
Su Ming had the feeling that he was currently experiencing this very same situation.
“Please don’t.”
Su Ming wanted to cry but couldn’t.
He knew that he might be overthinking things.
However, as someone who aimed to become a Minor character, Su Ming knew that in such a cruel world, if he didn’t think more, be more cautious, then he would most likely end up being a mere extra.
Did Su Ming want to be an extra?
Don’t joke around.
He didn’t want to be an extra who could leave the stage after getting killed, but rather an extra who could continue to survive, not be noticed by anyone, and secretly grow stronger.
Therefore, Su Ming was willing to think more, consider more, and be more cautious.
Only then could he live longer and become stronger.
In other words, Su Ming didn’t want to encounter any accidents.
“Why don’t I just use Heaven and Earth Reversal to kill all of these people?”
Su Ming couldn’t help but think this.
But it wasn’t realistic.
It wasn’t that Heaven and Earth Reversal didn’t have the power to do so, but rather that Su Ming knew he couldn’t use it.
Just now, Su Ming seemed to have already grasped the technique of Heaven and Earth Reversal, but as the saying goes, “The family knows its own affairs.” He was certain that even if he continued to grasp it, he wouldn’t be able to use Heaven and Earth Reversal.
The reason was very simple: his spiritual energy was insufficient.
As a powerful spiritual technique that was almost at the ceiling of high-level spiritual techniques, one could imagine how much spiritual energy was needed to use Heaven and Earth Reversal.
Su Ming had opened quite a few items in his bag that could increase his spiritual energy, and his own spiritual energy had long since surpassed that of a student. However, even with this level of spiritual energy, he was still unable to use a high-level spiritual technique that was almost at the ceiling of all techniques.
As for relying on his own strength to fight them head-on…
Su Ming looked at the many people on the other side, then looked at himself alone, and decisively abandoned this idea.
It wasn’t like he was at the age to act like a Long Aotian anymore. Did he really think that after transmigrating for only a year, he could fight the heavens, earth, and universe?
Su Ming wasn’t that kind of person.
Before he knew the other party’s strength, it was impossible to fight them head-on, and it was also impossible to expose himself. He could only think of ways to continue surviving.
“Since I can’t beat them…”
Then why not… join them?
Su Ming had an idea.
He opened his bag and took out a set of black combat clothes, then put them on while putting a mask on himself.
Don’t ask why he had these things in his backpack. The answer was simple: because he was a professional.
In this day and age, if you didn’t have a set of night camouflage or tools to hide your identity to do shady things that no one else could find out about, you couldn’t even call yourself a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Su Ming had long considered the possibility that one day he might encounter an emergency situation where he would need to use his full power. Therefore, so that he wouldn’t expose his identity at that time, he had always been preparing all sorts of tools to hide his true identity.
And now was the time to reap the rewards of his foresight!
Thus, Su Ming quickly dressed himself up and then quietly stood up from the grass.
“Crack.”
At almost the same time, a branch broke beneath Su Ming’s foot.
Yes, he had stepped on a branch.
“—!”
In an instant, all the suspicious figures around him turned their heads to look in Su Ming’s direction.
Su Ming’s heart was as calm as still water under the gazes of so many people. He even wanted to curse out loud!
I knew it, I knew it!
Su Ming cursed under his breath as he began to act like the rest of the people around him. He pretended to be searching for something as he slowly patted the grass.
At this moment, Su Ming was like a very insignificant Minor character in a group of suspicious individuals.
The others looked at this clumsy companion who was dressed similarly to them but had rather poor motor skills. They clicked their tongues in displeasure, then continued working.
Not bad!
Su Ming gave himself a mental pat on the back for his quick thinking.
Sure enough, this group was quite large. As long as they didn’t purposely count the number of people, they wouldn’t notice that there was a spy among them.
As long as he quietly mixed in with them, he could be an insignificant Minor character.
Being an insignificant Minor character was definitely the safest option!
Su Ming would not accept any objections!
Afterwards, he would quietly leave the group and leave without anyone noticing!
I’m such a clever little thing!
Just as Su Ming was laughing in his head, a voice suddenly rang out.
“I found it!”
This sentence broke the heavy silence on the scene.
