I Obviously Just Want to be a Minor Character CH.13

Chapter 13: The Mad Woman? No! It’s a Female Vampire!

The note Xu Qianqian gave Su Ming wasn’t anything complicated. It was simply a contact number.

However, it seemed to be Xu Qianqian’s personal number, completely different from the work number she used to contact the school and her classmates.

This number could only reach her assistant, while the personal number could reach her directly.

“Making herself sound like some celebrity.” Su Ming complained, then contacted Xu Qianqian.

“You called later than I expected. Looks like you’re quite patient.”

As soon as they connected, Xu Qianqian spoke up before Su Ming could say anything.

In other words, she hadn’t expected Su Ming to wait so long before contacting her.

“I’m sorry.”

Su Ming’s tone was harsh, clearly upset.

“It’s fine.” Xu Qianqian responded to his apology, but it was unclear whether she was playing dumb or genuinely confused. “When do you have time?”

“When do I have time?” Su Ming glanced outside the window at the dark night and narrowed his eyes. “I’m pretty free right now.”

Xu Qianqian fell silent.

She felt that Su Ming might be flirting with her.

It was already late at night, and he said he was free. Wasn’t he telling her that he would come over to see her in the middle of the night?

“I was wrong, your patience isn’t as good as I thought,” Xu Qianqian said. “Since you’re free right now, let’s meet at our usual spot.”

“Usual spot?” Su Ming was stunned.

Before he could ask, Xu Qianqian hung up the phone.

Su Ming almost cursed out loud.

“Can’t you explain yourself before hanging up?”

Was this a form of revenge?

For what he had done earlier.

It seemed that the Demon-Hunting Academy’s queen was as vengeful as Su Ming.

Fortunately, Su Ming had already guessed where the “usual place” Xu Qianqian mentioned was.

Su Ming put his phone away and looked up.

As soon as he did, two large faces appeared before him.

“Done?” Ye Bai asked, his face filled with nosiness. “What did you guys talk about? Tell us too!”

Ye Bai was still quite curious as to what a Minor character, who had nothing to do with Xu Qianqian, could possibly talk about with the famous cold beauty of the academy.

As for Lei Hao, his ears were perked up like a rabbit’s, and he stared at Su Ming with a stern expression.

“What usual place? What could you possibly have in common with Xu Qianqian?”

Lei Hao’s eyes shone with an eerie green light as he stared at Su Ming.

“You want to know?” Su Ming pointed at the door that was still banging. “Go outside and draw some attention. I’ll tell you then.”

Lei Hao and Ye Bai responded at the same time.

“Goodbye!”

They slipped back to their beds and fell asleep.

If they really went out, that wouldn’t be called attracting attention. It would be called suicide.

There was still a long road ahead. There would be plenty of chances to interrogate them in the future. There was no need to rush.

“…”

Su Ming watched the two people who returned to their beds and fell asleep in a flash, then fell into silence.

“Come out…”

“Come out…”

The ghostly cries outside the door continued.

The night deepened.

When midnight arrived, the boys who had to go to school tomorrow finally returned to their dormitories and prepared to sleep.

The knocking on the door finally stopped, allowing Su Ming to leave the dormitory.

“Once I become invincible, I’ll send all these bastards off to guard the border of the Base City.”

Su Ming declared that he would not be a gentleman if he didn’t get his revenge, then left the dormitory, left the academy, and headed toward the outskirts of the city.

Xu Qianqian’s meeting place could only be this.

Sure enough, when Su Ming arrived at the suburban area where he’d run into Xu Qianqian and the suspicious group that night, the Demon-Hunting Academy’s most popular girl was already waiting for him.

“You’re the first man who made me wait for two whole hours.”

Xu Qianqian stared at Su Ming.

“I’m truly sorry.”

Su Ming once again offered a very insincere apology, and his tone was even more forceful than it had been on the phone.

After all…

“This is all thanks to you. I’m sure you won’t mind, right?”

Su Ming wore a rather twisted smile.

Xu Qianqian wasn’t angry at all, but instead gave Su Ming a curious look.

“You’re also the first boy who’s spoken to me with such a forceful tone,” Xu Qianqian said lightly. “From this, I can tell that you’re indeed different from the rest.”

“Thank you for the compliment,” Su Ming said without the slightest bit of modesty. “Unfortunately, I’m not here to listen to your praise.”

Xu Qianqian nodded nonchalantly. As her gaze lifted, her expression became much more serious than before.

The Demon-Hunting Academy’s most popular girl stared straight at Su Ming until he felt a little uncomfortable.

“What are you doing?” Su Ming asked in annoyance. “Have you never seen a man before?”

Xu Qianqian didn’t pay attention to Su Ming’s words and only smiled.

The smile was very faint, but she really did smile, and it was a very pretty smile. Even Su Ming couldn’t help but admit that this woman really did have a good-looking face.

“I just wanted to see you up close,” Xu Qianqian said. “I’ve noticed you for a long time, but I’ve only now taken a good look at your appearance.”

Su Ming no longer maintained his act after hearing this.

“I’m quite curious.” Su Ming looked at Xu Qianqian. “Our campus beauty actually noticed someone like me. It’s really strange.”

“Perhaps.” Xu Qianqian didn’t refute Su Ming’s words and said frankly, “If not for my encounter with you a few days ago, I may have only silently kept an eye on you. We probably wouldn’t have crossed paths.”

“Oh?” Su Ming lifted his eyebrows and asked, “Why is that?”

“It’s very simple. There was no need to do so.” Xu Qianqian met Su Ming’s gaze and said, “With your performance in the academy, we were destined to be two people from completely different worlds. If we had crossed paths, it would have harmed you.”

You’re doing the same thing to me now, aren’t you? Su Ming wanted to say this.

But Xu Qianqian’s words made Su Ming realise something. Before this, Xu Qianqian hadn’t discovered Su Ming’s true identity. She thought Su Ming was an ordinary Minor character. Therefore, Xu Qianqian didn’t intend to interact with such a person, much less have any contact with him. It wasn’t until the two of them had a chance encounter that Xu Qianqian noticed Su Ming was hiding something.

Then the question arose.

“If you think we’re people from completely different worlds, then why did you notice me?”

Su Ming was puzzled.

Xu Qianqian didn’t play coy. “It’s very simple.” She looked straight at Su Ming. “Because of your blood.”

“My blood?” Su Ming was stunned.

Seeing his reaction, Xu Qianqian explained to Su Ming.

“As everyone knows, we hunters are life forms who have plundered the power of spirit demons and possess their blood,” she said. “Although we aren’t spirit demons, we still have the same blood as them, the same power, and even the same characteristics.”

“Of these hunters, a very small number will become overly similar to spirit demons due to bloodline issues or other factors.”

Su Ming had heard his teacher mention this before.

It was said that some of the hunters would undergo strange mutations because their bloodline was too compatible with their bodies.

For example, some people would grow horns, some would grow tails, some would even grow scales and sharp claws.

These hunters would defect from the human form in some way, and many would view them as heretics, monsters, or even outcasts.

“I am one of those people,” Xu Qianqian said.

“Fortunately, my abnormality isn’t reflected in my appearance but rather in a desire that nearly all spirit demons have.”

What desire was it?

The answer was about to be revealed.

“Drinking blood.” Xu Qianqian said, “I want to consume a certain amount of blood. Although it’s not as severe as a spirit demon’s bloodthirst, I must consume blood every so often.”

In other words, Xu Qianqian wasn’t a madwoman but rather a vampire.

Su Ming subconsciously held the wrist that had been bitten by the female vampire and took a step back.

“Don’t worry.” Xu Qianqian seemed to find this funny. “It’s not a big deal for me not to drink blood. At most, I’ll just feel like I have anaemia. Unless I’m severely injured, I won’t lose my mind over it.”

Now that Su Ming understood, he realised why Xu Qianqian had been so impulsive, violent, and irrational that night. She had been severely injured.

The injury had made the spirit demon blood within Xu Qianqian’s body stir, causing her to instinctively seek out blood. That was why she had become like that.

However, it wasn’t all bad.

After consuming blood, the side of Xu Qianqian that leaned towards the spirit demon would also activate, allowing her to use regenerative abilities and quickly heal her wounds.

By consuming Su Ming’s blood, she had managed to regain her rationality and recover from her severe injuries.

“I noticed you because I felt a bit of restlessness when we brushed past each other.”

Xu Qianqian finally explained why she had paid attention to Su Ming.

“Your blood seems to be a bit special to me.”
