The Players And The Protagonist Want To Kill Me – Volume 1, Chapter 33

Chapter 33: My Eagle Lord lives openly and aboveboard.

“Source of the Wilderness? What’s that?”

Sivey asked the system with confusion, sensing a colorful sphere within him that radiated a primitive and wild energy.

“Ding! Unique world item detected: Source of the Wilderness. This is the origin of Breath of the Wild, containing various forms of this essence,” the system responded.

Listening to one thing and understanding another, Sivey was speechless. Wasn’t this just redundant? It felt like stating the obvious. Forget it, there was no point in arguing with this stupid system.

Sivey patiently continued to inquire, “So, what is Breath of the Wild?”

“Ding! The item, Breath of the Wild, is the rule of natural forces. Pure natural beings can awaken the power in their bloodlines by perceiving the differences in talents from the Breath of the Wild.”

“Can I perceive power from it? I think I’m quite pure,” Sivey asked, curious with a serious expression.

“Ding! No!”

“So what use is this thing for me? Am I just becoming a humanoid WiFi for spreading Breath Of The Wild?”

Sivey complained. He felt quite annoyed; he got a reward for a critical strike only to receive something useless.

“System, which creatures are considered pure natural beings?”

“Ding! It’s hard to describe. For example, the horse under the host.”

Sivey looked down and saw his loyal companion, the dragon-blooded horse, looking back at him with big, round eyes surprisingly filled with joy and infatuation.

“!? My horse, something’s wrong with you!” Sivey exclaimed.

He liked beast-eared girls, that was true, but horses? Definitely not, especially a stallion.

Forget it, mares were no good either.

“It seems to be caused by the Source of the Wilderness. According to the system, I’ve essentially become the catalyst for the evolution of natural beings, which is why my horse is getting closer to me and showing that expression,” Sivey concluded, trying to make sense of the situation.

“And the range of perception of the Source of the Wilderness should be limited. Other horses around here have no reaction at all. That’s actually a good thing; I don’t want to be swarmed by various birds every day.”

Sivey had a sudden realization, contemplating how to best harness the power of the Source of the Wilderness for the benefit of his territory.

Should he start a super breeding farm?

Perhaps raise chickens the size of cows, fish capable of leaving the water, or pigs that could birth twenty young at once?

As a lord, not a farmer, expanding into such ventures might enable him to cultivate and domesticate Demonic Beasts using the essence of the wilderness, thereby breeding stronger warhorses.

But it was evidently not that straightforward.

The system had mentioned that whether natural beings could awaken the power in their bloodlines from the Breath of the Wild depended on their innate talent.

Some creatures might gradually awaken upon initial exposure to the Breath of the Wild, while others might never grasp its significance and simply approach it instinctively.

Take his dragon-blooded War-horse, for example; it showed no special reactions at the moment, just a look of mild ambiguity when gazing at him.

For now, Sivey couldn’t discern any clues; he would have to return to Eagle Territory and conduct personal experiments to gain a clearer understanding.

As there was no deliberate speeding up on the way back, Sivey and his troops arrived at Dawn Town the next morning.

He planned to stay in Dawn Town for a while, to allow the soldiers to recuperate and to transfer ownership of Dawn Town to Saintess.

Players were very persistent about this, insisting on signing a contract, even though Sivey could revoke it at any time.

But soon, Sivey realized that Players and demi-humans were not as foolish as he had thought.

In the mayor’s office of Dawn Town, Player representatives stood solemnly on both sides of the room.

In the middle of the conference hall sat a square table, with Sivey and Demi-Human Saintess Zoe sitting across from each other.

Zoe was still wearing a patched but very clean sacrificial robe, with fox ears and a fox tail, her snow-white long hair falling gently behind her, giving her a beautiful and holy appearance.

However, her eyes seemed a bit unfocused.

Sivey couldn’t help but take a few more glances at this lovely fox-eared girl, wondering if he should sponsor her to make a new sacrificial robe.

“Eagle Lord, if you have no objections, let’s start drafting the transfer contract for Dawn Town.”

Avatar solemnly brought out a parchment scroll and placed it in front of Sivey.

Sivey looked at the parchment scroll on the table in surprise and found that it had been blessed by the God of Order.

Wow, where did these Players get it from? Did his Eagle Territory still have temples dedicated to the old lady, the Goddess of Order?

But Sivey didn’t say much. He took out a quill pen and quickly wrote up the contract, signed his name at the bottom, and pushed it to Player Avatar.

Avatar and the Players were puzzled by the contract; they couldn’t understand the words of the Cain Continent and had to rely on Saintess Zoe for help.

Ever since Eagle Lord sat in front of her, Zoe had been a bit absent-minded.

Not because of what had happened before, but because she always felt a very comfortable aura emanating from Eagle Lord, making her unable to help but want to get closer, to lick him, to rub against him.

And as the Eagle Lord stayed in front of her for longer, this feeling became stronger, gradually reaching the point where it almost affected her consciousness.

So much so that when the Player stood in front of her for a long time, waving his hand in front of her eyes for a long time, she didn’t react.

“Sister Saintess? Saintess? Oh no, has Saintess taken a liking to Eagle Lord? This look is not right?”

“Ah…?”

Avatar’s muttering suddenly brought Zoe, who had been staring blankly at Eagle Lord, back to reality.

She looked at the Player in front of her with a puzzled look, then glanced at Eagle Lord with a playful expression. Her face turned red in a flash, and she hurriedly lowered her head in embarrassment, saying, “Is, is there something wrong?”

“Uh…” Avatar was a bit speechless. It turned out Saintess had been daydreaming all along and hadn’t heard anything.

Saintess and the protagonist Ye Hao were both unreliable. This group of NPCs was becoming more and more difficult to handle…

Avatar sighed in his heart, then patiently repeated, “Well, it’s like this. The Eagle Lord has already drafted the contract. Could you please help review it? If there are no objections, we’ll sign it. If there are any issues, we’ll discuss them.”

Zoe looked at the scroll and read aloud, “…now transfers all the powers of the original Dawn Town mayor, Megil, to Demi-Human Saintess Zoe, including governance, … effective immediately, Demi-Human Saintess Zoe becomes the mayor of Dawn Town for an indefinite period, Eagle Lord guarantees the effectiveness of the contract and may not terminate it…”

She read this sentence several times, always feeling like there was a problem somewhere, but it seemed there was no problem at all.

She was confused and looked up, her pleading eyes falling on Avatar.

Avatar was taken aback, thinking, “What are you looking at me for? I don’t understand the rules of your Cain Continent either!”

There was no choice; since Saintess Zoe was their favorite NPC, they reluctantly accepted her quirks.

So Avatar could only nervously ask Eagle Lord, “Eagle Lord, as a Count, you wouldn’t play any word games in the contract, would you?”

Sivey almost burst out laughing at this, but he smiled sincerely and said, “As a person, I am quite rigorous and very honest. I’ve written the contract very clearly, and the transfer of Dawn Town’s ownership from the original mayor, Megil, to Zoe has a clear beginning and end, so if any problems arise in the future, we can trace them back.”

Avatar nodded and exchanged a few words with the other Players, but they couldn’t figure it out. In the end, they handed the decision-making power over to Saintess Zoe.

Zoe scrutinized the contract and Sivey’s face repeatedly, then bit her lip and signed her name on the parchment scroll with a determined expression.

After Zoe signed her name, the parchment scroll trembled and emitted a bright white light before shattering into light particles and disappearing.

But in the depths of their minds, everyone felt a “Supreme Will” sweep through.

They knew the contract had taken effect and had been recognized and protected by the Goddess Of Order. Anyone who violated it would be punished by the gods.

A sunny smile appeared on Sivey’s face. He leaned back comfortably in his seat, clapped his hands, and congratulated, “Congratulations, Demi-Human Saintess. From now on, you are the mayor of Dawn Town.”

Demi-Human Saintess Zoe was also very pleased because this heralded the demi-humans finally having a true home and would no longer need to keep wandering around.

And with the protection of the Goddess Of Order in this contract, she didn’t have to worry about Eagle Lord reneging.

However, just then, the eerie voice of Eagle Lord rang out:

“So now, let’s talk about the tax issue of Dawn Town, the affiliated town of Eagle Territory.”
