Grab The Heroine and Run Away Ch.30.1

At 7:30 in the evening, the trainees all rushed back to the dorms, sharing delicious treats brought from home. Everyone showed restraint, and the staff responsible for equipment checks pretended not to see, even getting chased down by the trainees to be treated to some, and after they came out of several dorms, they were so full that they didn’t need dinner.

“Has Little Pearl and Xin Nuo come back?” someone holding snacks knocked on the door of dormitory number one, asking.

“Yuzu said they met Pearl’s nanny car at the entrance, they should be here soon. Put the things on her table—uh, stool,” the fourth person, Sasa, stood up and enthusiastically pulled out the stool from under Xu Heran’s table, which was piled high with snacks.

“Wow!” the newcomer cheerfully placed the items down, casually giving Sasa’s backside a pat, “Thanks, babe.”

“Hey~”

The two girls playfully poked each other, poking each other back and forth.

“Ugh…” another girl who brought snacks shook her head in disdain, wearing an expression of “the moral decline of society is unbearable to witness,” and was pulled by Sasa to join the fray.

Laughter and merriment filled the dormitory, soaring into the sky, lingering hesitantly in the fading twilight, reluctant to disperse.

Xu Heran, stepping on the twilight’s tail, walked out of the director’s office, gave Xin Nuo a thumbs-up while leaning against the wall, waiting for others. Xin Nuo was wearing a hat, lifting her head slightly, her voice cold, “Things better be as you said, otherwise…”

She had a backup plan, after all.

“Sister Nuo Nuo~” Xu Heran pulled Xin Nuo into a hug, her hand rubbing her back, “You can relax, okay? Love you~”

“Step away, it’s hot.”

“I’ll fan you, whoosh whoosh whoosh—” Xu Heran puffed up her cheeks.

Xin Nuo was even more displeased, intentionally quickening her pace. Xu Heran caught up with her steps, wrapped her arms around Xin Nuo from behind, and lifted her off the ground by her waist, using her abdomen to push her forward, carrying Xin Nuo in her arms and moving ahead.

“Xu Heran!” Xin Nuo was startled, her hair swaying with Xu Heran’s footsteps.

“Hehe, I’ve figured it out. The reason I haven’t been able to carry you upside down, Nuo Nuo, is that I haven’t gotten used to your weight yet. Let me carry you more, I’ll get used to it. Not only will I be able to carry you upside down, but I’ll also be able to twirl you around!”

“…”

Xin Nuo didn’t want to, but her mind automatically conjured up an image of herself being carried by Xu Heran while performing tricks, causing her face to darken. She felt that the version of herself that was willing to entertain such associations was just too much!

Spending too much time with Xu Heran would turn anyone foolish!

“Watch me run like the wind!” Xu Heran shouted while carrying her.

Xin Nuo remained impassive. Fine, let her carry her. After all, it wasn’t her who would get tired.

Not only trainees were hurrying back, but also staff members and managers from various companies. They looked surprised at the duo who zoomed past like lightning—well, they quickly cleared the way.

Xin Nuo didn’t exert much effort. Standing in the doorway, her expression was leisurely. She raised her hand to flick off the nonexistent dust on her clothes and calmly addressed the breathless Xu Heran, who was bent over with her hands on her knees.

“Embarrassing.”

“…Hey!”

Unscrupulous Nuo Nuo strikes again!

Exhausted, Xu Heran pulled herself up the steps’ handrail and climbed up. Her legs were trembling, and she wasn’t sure where she found the strength to run so far while carrying Xin Nuo.

“Next time, I’ll carry you on my back. It might be better!” She said as she crawled up the steps, her legs trembling.

Xin Nuo had initially intended to support her while walking, but upon hearing Xu Heran’s words, she immediately sneered, taking two steps at once up the stairs. In no time, she stood on the top platform, arms crossed, looking down at Xu Heran slowly making her way up the stairs.

The dormitory building was brightly lit, and the bright light at the entrance hall illuminated Xin Nuo. Her elongated shadow was cast long, cascading down the layers of stairs.

Xu Heran stood right in her shadow.

“I can’t go on.”

Xu Heran struggled, feeling her knees sore and swollen. Her calves hurt too.

There’s nothing difficult in the world, as long as you’re willing to give up.

Someone who had a change of heart let go of the railing, turned around, and lay on the steps, hands placed on her stomach, a serene expression on her face. She closed her eyes and shook her head, “I’m going to die.”

Seeing Xu Heran’s attitude of lying on the steps as if she intended to stay there forever, Xin Nuo sighed. She couldn’t do anything about her. She turned and walked into the entrance hall, pulled out a bottle from the stack of mineral water, and returned to Xu Heran’s side to water the little pearl.

“Is it dirty?”

“It’s fine, anyway, it has to be washed.”

Xu Heran kept her eyes closed, contentedly allowing Xin Nuo to feed her water, letting out a comfortable sigh.

This moment couldn’t have come any sooner.

While convincing Xin Nuo, Xu Heran was also convincing herself, so she lay even more at ease.

Xin Nuo: “…”

To ensure that the trainees could train in peace, many pots of mosquito repellent plants were placed around the dormitory, and the daytime cleaning staff also sprayed insecticides and mosquito repellents, which seemed to have some effect. At least when Xu Heran lay on the ground, there were no annoying buzzing mosquitoes.

Xin Nuo sat on the steps next to Xu Heran, looking down at her phone. It was not even eight o’clock yet.

The noise from the building behind them was getting louder.

“Hmm, why do I feel it’s a bit noisy?” Xu Heran, lying on the steps, raised her head and looked at the dormitory building behind her. After resting for a while, she felt much better, although her knees were still hot and swollen, and her leg muscles were a bit tense.

Xin Nuo also found it strange. The dormitory building was never this noisy before. She could faintly hear someone shouting “Xu Heran.”

Xu Heran and Xin Nuo exchanged glances.

“Bang.”

A window on the second floor opened, and Jiang Qiong stuck her head out, shouting loudly into the distance, “Xu Pearl—”

The empty training camp echoed with the word “Pearl.”

“Jiang Xiaoqiong has the potential to sing high notes!” Xu Heran quipped to Xin Nuo. She raised her hand, waved at Jiang Qiong, and shouted, “I’m here!”

Jiang Qiong immediately withdrew her head.

With a “bang,” the window closed in front of Xu Heran.

Xu Heran: “…”

After a short while, hurried footsteps approached the staircase, and Jiang Qiong and Haya rushed out one after the other. Both were holding their phones, and they surrounded Xu Heran and Xin Nuo, excited and furious, saying, “Look! Xu Yanran is secretly causing trouble!”

“Right now!”

“Huh?”

Xu Heran was lying on the steps, a phone pressed into her hand.

On the screen, a girl with red, teary eyes seemed as if she had been drinking. Her face was flushed, her gaze unfocused, and she murmured repeatedly, “Why does she hate me? Aren’t I her sister?”

“I just wanted to be her family, for her to recognize me as her sister… Did I do something wrong?”

“What does the grudge of the previous generation have to do with me? I really like her…”

As she spoke, large tears rolled down the pale face of the crying girl. She looked extremely aggrieved, and it was hard not to feel sorry for her as an onlooker.

In the live broadcast, countless viewers immediately began typing comments like “Don’t cry, it’s not your fault.”

“Talk to her properly, Little Pearl isn’t unreasonable.”

Xu Yanran gave a bitter smile, “I’ve talked to her before. She just doesn’t like me. I don’t know what else to do.”

After saying that, she looked a bit scared ahead, raised her hand, and made a shushing gesture at her mouth. “My manager isn’t here. I’m doing this secretly, secretly broadcasting to everyone. I’m sorry, I’ve been suppressing myself for too long, I just wanted an outlet to vent.”

Beside her, there was a bottle of liquor from a certain brand, nearly empty.

In the barrage, some people began to suspect that Xu Heran might be bullying Xu Yanran in private. Others brought up incidents from past shows where Xu Heran had been unfriendly to Xu Yanran.

“So, is Xu Yanran really Xu Heran’s sister? And Xu Yanran is an illegitimate child?”

“An illegitimate child wants the daughter of a woman who hurt your mother to recognize you as her sister? Ugh, it’s a bit disgusting.”

“But what happened before involved the elders. How can you bring a child into this?”

“Oh, your dad cheated, betrayed your mom, and you want to be all lovey-dovey sisters with the child of the woman who hurt your mom?”

“But she’s innocent! She didn’t even want to be born!”

“Since she knows Little Pearl doesn’t want anything to do with her, why does she keep trying? She should just live her own life, right?”

“Constantly calling her ‘Little Pearl,’ and being a die-hard fan of Xu Heran. Everyone knows what her fans are like. Heh.”

“???”

“What about us?”

“The malice towards Xu Heran in this live stream is too much, isn’t it?”

“Don’t people know about Xu Heran bullying Xu Yanran? She has such a bad temper! Yanran, don’t have any expectations for someone like her. Focus on your training and debut!”

“…Starlight Girls is an investment by the Xu family. Xu Yanran’s ranking dropped significantly this time, yet Xu Heran jumped from 59th to 5th. I refuse to believe there’s no trickery going on here! Was the production team manipulated by Xu Heran to intentionally suppress Xu Yanran?”

“I think Xu Heran stole votes from Xu Yanran!”

“………………”

“At first, I felt a little sorry for Xu Yanran, but reading these comments—hilarious. Are you guys serious?”

“And some people don’t know that Team Ten’s stage had millions of views? Starlight Girls’ first stage to break two million views. Are you telling me it’s fake?”

“Haha, Xu Heran stealing votes from Xu Yanran. I’m counting on this joke to get me through the year!”

“Exactly, their direct video reached millions of views, and this contestant who went viral three times already stole fifty thousand views from your direct video. It’s terrifying, report it quickly! How can such a thing happen!”

“If you think there’s an issue with the votes, you can check directly on the official website~ then report it, and you might win tens of thousands in rewards~”

As the live stream’s discussion went off track, suddenly a barrage of messages appeared: “Yanran, don’t cry. Hugs, we sympathize with you.” “It’s okay, speak up if you feel wronged.” “You’re a poor child, we understand your grievances.” Comforting words were followed by a barrage in support of Xu Heran: “Our so-and-so’s illegitimate child is living happily with the original family. Hope Xu Heran can be more magnanimous. We’re all family.”

“Don’t cry, we all know what Xu Heran was like before. Now she’s just pretending, right? She doesn’t even recognize her sister, so selfish!”

“Ugh, she just wants to use Xin Nuo for herself, trying to steal the spotlight? Look how she’s befriending whoever has a higher ranking. She’s just stepping on others to boost herself, those who understand will get it.”

In the frame, Xu Yanran’s nose was red. Suddenly, she got angry, slamming the table and angrily addressing the audience, “I won’t let you call her my sister. She, she… She just doesn’t like me!”

Xu Yanran’s expression seemed to carry some hidden meaning, as if she had many secrets locked inside, but for some reason, she didn’t dare to voice them. So, she repeated herself.

“She just doesn’t like me, that’s all.”

As Xu Yanran spoke, she started crying again, full of sorrow.

A new round of comfort and mockery towards Xu Heran flooded in, mixed with Xu Heran’s fans retorting and the onlookers of fans from various groups who had arrived upon hearing the news.

“Quite a lot of keyboard warriors.” Haya clicked her tongue disapprovingly, shaking her head, a hint of disdain in her eyes.

Jiang Qiong looked worriedly at Xu Heran. On the other hand, there was Xin Nuo, her beautiful face adorned with a smile, lips slightly curved. She rested her chin on her hand, savoring the performance on stage like a spectator.

Xu Heran pursed her lips, her brow furrowed, her gaze not on her phone but fixed on a distant streetlight.

The evening’s ambient light cast onto her clear eyes, those blue-purple irises more delicate than a doll behind a shop window, giving off an otherworldly sense of virtuality.

A bead of cold sweat slid down her pale face, dripping onto her neck, tracing along a straight curve and seeping deep into her skin.

Seeing her unhealthy complexion, Jiang Qiong reached out her hand and comforted, “Don’t watch anymore, we all know she’s deceiving people.”

Her palm had yet to land on Xu Heran’s shoulder when the girl who had been lying on the ground suddenly sprang up, her face pallid, eyes wide open, forehead beaded with even more sweat. A pained groan escaped her throat.

“Heran?” Xin Nuo’s body trembled unconsciously, and without thinking, she grabbed Xu Heran’s arm.

As summer began and the temperature rose, Xu Heran had just engaged in intense exercise. Her skin, which should have been burning hot, felt as cold as ice. When Xin Nuo clasped her arm, she felt rigid muscles beneath her touch. Her whole body was tense like a fully drawn bowstring.

Xu Heran’s mind went blank, overwhelmed by pain.

“Help—cramp, I have a cramp!!!”

She shouted loudly, her phone landing on the ground with a snap as she yanked at her clothes.

“Ah!”

“It hurts so much, my leg!”

“What? A cramp!”

The three who had initially felt an inexplicable sense of “how did this develop” due to Xu Heran’s sudden distress immediately transformed into concern upon seeing her painful expression. Jiang Qiong was at a loss, Xin Nuo, usually calm, raised her hand in a slightly anxious manner, and before she could act, Haya had already stepped in.

The tall girl grabbed Xu Heran’s awkward leg, holding onto her ankle and straightening her leg, pressing her foot downward.

“Don’t worry, I have experience with this!”

“Sob sob sob!” Tears streamed down Xu Heran’s face from the pain. Her hands slapped the ground forcefully, reminiscent of a crab flipping its belly on the beach, trying to crawl up. The agony in her leg dissipated with Haya’s assistance, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief. Her vacant gaze turned toward the sky, an aura of disarray surrounding her.

A pearl lost its dream.

Jiang Qiong pursed her lips, trying not to laugh.

Unexpectedly, just as Xu Heran, who had “escaped death,” had set her leg down and was about to sigh leisurely, the pain that hadn’t fully subsided swooshed back, and she immediately clutched her leg.

“Help!!!”

The miraculous healer Haya intervened once again.

“Ah—”

By the windows of the sixth dormitory room, people stood craning their necks, looking downward. Every time Xu Heran let out a painful scream, the onlookers shivered in unison.

“What’s wrong with Ran Ran?”

“She’s being possessed! Possessed!”

“It doesn’t sound like it’s because of Xu Yanran’s anger.”

Could Little Pearl possibly scream like this because of that?

Someone leaned against the window, asking, and Jiang Qiong quickly got up, cupping her hands around her mouth. “Xu Pearl has a cramp!”

The girl questioning by the window turned to the trainee standing next to her. They exchanged glances and burst into laughter. The entire dormitory building, which had been filled with an aura of anger due to someone’s live broadcast, was instantly filled with a cheerful atmosphere.

“Such a pitiful Ran Ran, how did you get a cramp, wah wah wah? Oh right, your grandma gave us pig’s trotters to bring, quickly give our Little Pearl some to eat, like for like.” The trainee smiled mischievously as she rummaged through her bag.

“And my spicy chicken feet!”

When Xu Heran was finally assisted back to the dormitory by Xin Nuo and Haya, supported on either side, she was warmly comforted by the practicing trainees in the hallway. When she returned to her dormitory, she was startled by the mountainous pile of snacks on the table.

“Tonight, you should still sleep in your own room.” Xin Nuo said as she packed the snacks into a box. Without waiting for Xu Heran to pout, she immediately added, “Or do you want to climb the ladder with that injured leg?”

“Why do you call it an injured leg… whose leg is injured!” Xu Heran grumbled discontentedly, leaning against the wall. She hadn’t taken a shower or changed clothes yet, but Xin Nuo wouldn’t allow her to go inside.

“Sister Nuo Nuo, can you sleep with me tonight?” Xu Heran tried to secure a benefit for herself.

“Sure.” Xin Nuo found her some clothes to wear. She was concerned about letting Xu Heran sleep alone. To avoid the tragic scenario of someone waking up in pain with no one around to help, she decided to stay.

“That’s more like it.” Xu Heran said contentedly, her eyes turning mischievous. She continued in a sweet voice, “Then, Sister Nuo Nuo, can you shower with me?”

Xin Nuo paused in her actions, giving her a sidelong glance.

“What if I get a cramp in the bathroom and fall—oh!”

Xu Heran’s head got covered by a piece of clothing.

“First of all, there’s an anti-slip mat in the bathroom, and secondly, you’re sixteen, not sixty.” Xin Nuo pointed toward the bathroom with disdain. “Go take a shower, you’re filthy!”

“Hmph!”

Xu Heran pulled off the clothing, annoyed. “Don’t underestimate a pearl just because it’s poor. Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river. If you don’t want to shower with me now, don’t even think about asking me later. For the future, I advise you to answer this question carefully!”

Xin Nuo tapped her fingers.

“Xu, Heran.”

“Okay, Sister Nuo Nuo, I’m going to take a shower now, wait for me~”

Watching someone deftly hop into the bathroom on one leg, Xin Nuo couldn’t help but laugh.

Xu Yanran entered the dormitory with inexplicable excitement and guilt. On her way there, she had imagined various scenarios: Xu Heran rushing out to confront her, herself appearing vulnerable in front of the camera and the practicing trainees while crying, or the surprised looks from other trainees after learning about her relationship with Xu Heran.

She didn’t realize that simply having the identity of “Xu Heran’s sister” would fill her heart with a sense of vanity.

However, when she returned to the dormitory, she found that things were different from what she had imagined, except for the occasional furtive glances from a few people.

Xu Heran didn’t come out to confront her, didn’t shout at her. The other trainees merely cast a brief glance at her before looking away. Most of them were lying on their beds, listening to music.

No one paid any attention to her.

What’s going on?

An unnamed anger surged in Xu Yanran’s heart. She had envisioned so many scenarios, embellishing confrontations in her mind repeatedly. The reality was completely different from what she had imagined!

No one cared about her at all!

The contrast made her furrow her brow tightly. She wished she could grab a passing trainee by the collar and directly ask her, “I’m Xu Heran’s sister, aren’t you supposed to have something to say to me?”

Passing by, Jiang Qiong didn’t even look at Xu Yanran. She raised her hand, holding a dark object up to her mouth.

“Dong me dong me, this is Dong Guai, over. Please respond.”

The dark object emitted a red light. The other trainees on the beds immediately got up and looked interestedly at the object in her hand.

After a while, accompanied by the sound of electricity, a crisp “1” came through the intercom.

Jiang Qiong: “…”

“Can’t you be a bit more dramatic!” Jiang Qiong reproached, “Dong me dong me, are you okay?”

Xu Heran lay on the bed, having had several tubes of blood drawn for examination. Two gentle female doctors were massaging her leg muscles.

“Dong me okay! Dong me oh ah—”

The agonizing screams mixed with the sound of electricity in the intercom, sounding very painful.

Jiang Qiong shouted desperately, “Dong me, you have to hang in there! Dong me—”

She raised her hand, extending it toward Xu Heran’s dormitory with a pained expression, deeply immersed in the suffering of her friend, in agony.

Xu Yanran: “????”

Others: “Hahaha!”

In the brightly lit room, Xu Heran, lying on the bed, slammed the intercom into her blanket with a “pop.” She had just tried to twist her body to escape when she was immediately held down by the alerted doctor, leaving only her hands flailing on the bed.

“Such strength.” The doctor was sweating profusely.

Xin Nuo sat on the bed, watching the doctor treat Xu Heran. Initially, they all thought it was a regular cramp until Xu Heran continued to have cramps several times in a row, her right leg numbed to the point of losing sensation. Seeing Xu Heran’s pale face without a trace of color, Xin Nuo felt a surge of seriousness and immediately contacted Cui Qi.

“Calm down, the muscles are too tight. Once they’re massaged, it’ll be fine. Does your knee hurt?” The doctor comforted her.

It hurts!

It hurts so much!

Tears welled up in Xu Heran’s eyes, and she couldn’t even speak. Xin Nuo furrowed her brow even tighter. She stood up, knelt beside Xu Heran, hugged her head, her fingers pressing against the back of her neck, while her other hand supported Xu Heran’s cheek.

“Good girl, let’s endure it for a moment, just a moment.”

Xu Heran, who had been struggling frantically just now, suddenly seemed like a locked flame, the expanded fire shrinking in an instant. She tightly shut her eyes, both hands clutching the bedsheet, cold sweat dampening her clean forehead, which Xin Nuo gently wiped away.

“It hurts so much.” Xu Heran’s voice, full of grievances, squeezed out from between her teeth.

Xin Nuo’s heart inexplicably clenched in response. She rubbed Xu Heran’s cheek, applying slight pressure, and pulled her into an embrace. Xu Heran simply let go of her hands and directly hugged Xin Nuo’s waist, pressing her head against Xin Nuo’s chest, as if that could shield her from this suffering.

When the massage finally ended, everyone in the room let out a collective sigh of relief. The doctor applied the prepared medicine to Xu Heran’s leg, binding it with a bandage. Once both legs were done, the doctor stood up, clapped their hands, and looked down with a smile, saying, “Such long legs, so slender and long.”

In the disheveled blue sheets, the beautiful girl’s legs were bound with bandages from her soles all the way up to her knees. Her calves had a delicate and attractive curve, made even more pronounced by the bandages, resembling a thin sword sheathed.

Xu Heran’s body went limp, and she weakly said, “Thank you.”

Finally, she was liberated!

Xu Heran turned over, allowing herself to lie flat. She rested her head on Xin Nuo’s thigh. After the medical staff left, she let out a voice of profound emptiness and said painfully, “This is the price of growing up.”

Based on her family history and medical records, the doctor deduced that Xu Heran was experiencing growing pains. The age at which girls experience growth spurts might be a bit later for most, but nothing is absolute, as individual differences play a role. Especially since the doctor had never seen a child… suffer like this?

The two renowned pediatricians from the private hospital chuckled as they left.

Afraid that she might experience cramps again, Xu Heran didn’t dare to move. The cool sensation of the medicated treatment on her leg was comforting. She lay there for a while, feeling somewhat relieved. Looking around, she asked, “Where’s Sister Cui?”

“She went to the hospital to wait for your test results,” Xin Nuo replied, her fingers playing with Xu Heran’s hair as she braided a small plait for her. “Sister Cui really cares about you.”

Normally, a work assistant could handle this kind of task, but Cui Qi had gone herself to be there when the results were available. She had arranged for an assistant to take care of Xu Heran during the training camp.

“Hehe.” Xu Heran used her fingers to touch her face, wanting to feel the small braid that Xin Nuo had made. However, Xin Nuo swatted her hand away.

In the room, only Xu Heran and Xin Nuo were present. Xu Heran whispered, “Has Xu Yanran finished her livestream? How’s everything now?”

A hint of amusement flickered in Xin Nuo’s eyes, not the kind of joyful or delighted smile, but one filled with curiosity, like a spectator watching a fire from across the river, ready to applaud and comment at any moment.

Xu Heran was taken aback by her own thoughts. She raised her hand, pinching Xin Nuo’s chin and shaking it, saying, “Spill the beans.”

“Not in pain, and the courage has grown too,” Xin Nuo tried to remove her hand, “Can only deal with childish troublemakers, huh?”

“…”

The mischievous child became angry, a rebellious streak emerging. Swiftly, she grabbed Xin Nuo’s hand and lightly bit it near her mouth. After Xin Nuo tapped her head, she pouted, pressing Xin Nuo’s hand against her head.

In her thick hair, the neatly braided plait gently tapped against the spot on Xin Nuo’s wrist where veins were hidden.

“I told Sister Cui about that matter. She’s aware of it, so let’s focus on recording the show,” Xin Nuo, accustomed to handling everything herself, felt a sense of trust from the company, making her quietly await the outcome. It felt… somewhat relaxing?

“Let her enjoy tonight.” Xin Nuo smiled, her fingers sliding into Xu Heran’s hair, following the direction it fell. “Xu Yanran has worked hard doing so much. How could we not make her happy?”

Otherwise, we wouldn’t be living up to our clever Little Pearl. Using the excuse of saving money, she didn’t seek marketing assistance, but of course, they already spent a lot of money to have a big screen that would reach even more viewers.

Xu Yanran wanted attention and a topic, so let’s indulge her.

“Sigh,” Xu Heran suddenly sighed, “Our Xu family and their Xu family have had no relationship for a long time. I don’t know what they’re thinking. Why do they have to compete with me? Can’t we all just stay clear of each other like strangers? Xu Yanran is still young; she’s been led astray.”

She grumbled, “And besides, wasn’t it that man who wronged my mother? If there’s really revenge to be had, it should be me.”

“You?” Xin Nuo raised an eyebrow. She lay down on her side, propped up her face with her palm, and looked at the falling window curtains, imagining how Xu Heran would seek revenge on someone.

“You’re just a shrimp!” The round Little Pearl rammed into the bad guy, then lifted the villain, playfully spinning them around like a twirling flag, and then “whoosh,” threw them into the sky.

The bad guy exploded into fireworks in the sky.

“Hiahiahia, I’m shrimp fried rice!” The round Little Pearl stood with hands on hips, proudly declaring, wearing a small pair of sunglasses on her face.

“Poof!” Xin Nuo burst into laughter at her own imagination. She let go of Xu Heran’s hand, lay down beside her, and turned off the light. “Time to sleep, shrimp fried rice.”

Xu Heran: “???”

What rice?

Hmm, feeling a little hungry.

She couldn’t eat while lying down. She didn’t want to trouble Nuo Nuo to feed her.

Although she really wanted to, Xu Heran shook her head, considering how hard Xin Nuo had worked all day.

Forget it, sleep!

Transcend Entertainment, formerly a famous film star in the entertainment industry, had fallen from grace after an extramarital affair following a divorce lawsuit, and had left the acting career to start his own company. Father Xu, suffering from headaches, had a company with a relatively modest reputation. However, since Xu Yanran’s live stream tonight, countless people flocked to Transcend Entertainment’s official account to leave comments.

“May I ask if you’re really the Mr. Xu who let go of the billions from the Universal Group and refrained from cheating on the young lady, only to find a third party?”

“I looked through some old news, and someone said he cheated because Mother Xu had married abroad and had a child from a previous marriage. This Mr. Xu was uncomfortable with it, so he cheated with his recent graduate assistant.”

“Oh my god, what era is this? I’ve seen pictures of my mother-in-law when she was young. Calling her ‘exquisite beauty of an era’ wouldn’t be an exaggeration, right? This Mr. Xu must be blind as a bat!”

“Can only say, fortunately, the Xu surname guy looks decent. He didn’t drag down our Little Pearl. That’s his only contribution.”

“Mr. Xu, may I ask, what was your intention in sending Xu Yanran to Starlight Girls?”

“Is Xu Yanran’s livestream true? Is she really Xu Heran’s sister?”

“Sister? Our Little Pearl is with her mother. We have the Xu surname~”

“Quick, suppress these comments for me!” Mr. Xu slammed the table in frustration.

“Suppress, we can’t suppress them!” The secretary was almost in tears. There were too many enthusiastic fans of the show, and many who were interested in stirring things up or criticizing Mr. Xu’s behavior rushed in to watch.

“Who gave Xu Yanran the courage! Didn’t I tell her to stay quiet and wait until after her debut to use this for publicity?” Mr. Xu was exasperated. “Now that it’s out, is she afraid of being eliminated?”

Sitting quietly on the couch, Mother Xu, who had always been gentle and weak, spoke softly, “Yanran is also afraid. She dropped in rankings significantly this time, and she’s still so young. Both you and I are not by her side. It’s inevitable that she lacks direction.”

“And,” she continued softly, “Husband, didn’t you say the Xu family was only influential overseas? This is China. If you help Yanran a little, won’t this matter blow over? Yanran’s reputation can also spread.”

The word “idiot” lingered on Mr. Xu’s lips, but he clenched his teeth and held it back. Veins bulged on his forehead, and his face turned bright red.

He really wanted to say.

For fuck’s sake, I was just blabbering because I had too much to drink! How the hell did you take it seriously?

You should just take a man’s drunken words lightly, why the hell would you believe it!!

Back then, he was deceived by Mother Xu’s identity. If he had known that Mother Xu was the sole heiress of the Universal Group, he wouldn’t have been cheating on her. He would have kneeled down and begged to serve her like a dog! By the time Xu’s old man passed away, he would have become one of the key figures in the Universal Group!

It’s all Xu Menglan’s fault for not leaving any sentiment or emotion. She caused him to lose not only face but also money, a complete defeat.

He held a grudge and there was no way he would speak well of the Xu family.

But—

That didn’t mean the Xu family could compete with the Xu family! Money flows, it’s not fixed to one territory! Universal Entertainment was established overnight, and from organization to filming to broadcasting Starlight Girls, it took only two months. During the golden time on Hai City TV, it dominated the headlines and swept the internet!

Moreover, the trainees of Starlight Girls were the cream of the crop from the best entertainment companies!

This is the Xu family’s ability!

However, a man’s dignity doesn’t allow him to slap his own face.
