Grab The Heroine and Run Away Ch.32.1

“???”

“What’s wrong, Bowl? Wake up, Bowl! Open your eyes and see what you’ve posted!”

“Bowl Teacher! Don’t fall asleep!”

Xiaowan Can Eat a Lot is a well-known fan of Xu Heran and Xinran CP. Her Weibo post was like pouring water into hot oil, causing a burst of sizzling sparks.

The Weibo post was made at 7 p.m., just when many office workers had just returned home from work. They ordered takeout, freshened up, and continued to admire the outstanding performances of the three artistic masters from the Xu family. The fans who cared most about this were Xu Heran’s fans and Starlight Girls’ fans. This evening’s Weibo post immediately attracted countless views.

Immediately, many people skipped meals and showers, holding their phones in front of their homes, fingers ready to tap the screen.

“Bowl Teacher! How much money did Xu Heran give you? I’ll offer ten times that!!!”

Apart from Pearl and her fans, the fans of Xin Nuo, who had already changed their name to the Knights, couldn’t sit still either. Xinran, ah! After all, her Nuo Nuo is up there too. This is one of the reasons they accepted Xinran and her sister.

In their eyes, Xu Heran is good-looking and matches well with Xin Nuo. The two handsome faces standing together are a delightful sight. Moreover, Xu Heran is now both charming and adorable. She follows Xin Nuo around like a big sister every day. Although she can be mischievous at times, they can tell that Xu Heran listens to Xin Nuo. With such a warm and clingy sister-in-law by Xin Nuo’s side, his smile is even bigger than usual. Of course, they approve of this match!

The Knights and the Pearl Fans refer to each other as in-laws, addressing Xu Heran and Xin Nuo as daughter-in-law and son-in-law. Everyone’s relationship is harmonious and peaceful, but—

How could Xu Heran possibly do that!

Could that soft and clingy little spoiled brat possibly top?

Crying on one side and giving it her all… Wait a minute, brain, stop right there! Don’t entertain such terrifying thoughts—thinking about it, it even feels a bit cute. What’s going on? No, no, Nuo Nuo Mama supports you!

So, Xu Heran must have secretly given money to Xiaowan!

The incident of Xiaowan going to visit Starlight Girls in the evening had been mentioned in the comments. At that time, they had even expressed their envy towards Xiaowan, urging her to take more photos of her own cub to share.

Now that the photos hadn’t been taken, Xu Heran had obviously won Xiaowan over!

Little Pearl is leading her astray!

In the midst of thousands of fans, the lonely supporters of “Pengran Xindong” held bowls of milk carefully hidden, watching as the comments urging Xiaowan grew more and more, hesitating and halting their steps towards acknowledging the relationship.

Even they themselves were starting to wonder if Xiaowan had made a mistake or if Little Pearl had done something to cause a misunderstanding?

Xiaowan didn’t reply to the comments, but around ten o’clock at night, she uploaded an illustration again.

Xiaowan Can Eat a Lot: Snatched back, little wife~

The illustration was done in an ancient style.

The sky was blue, white clouds drifting, and two swallows played by the willow branches. A person walked under the willow tree.

She was wearing a bright red wedding gown, her eyes curved into a smile, a piece of grass in her mouth. One hand was on her waist, while the other rested on the thigh of the person carried on her shoulder.

The person she was carrying on her shoulder was a bride. She wasn’t just passively carried; her legs were raised, the intricate red wedding dress danced around her, the phoenix collar at her chest was soaring. One hand half-lifted a red veil, revealing her beautiful face with a hint of panic, disheveled hair and scattered hairpins. The abducted bride had a blush on her face, and her other hand was pressed against the head of the bandit who had snatched her. The groom’s hat was tilted, pointing towards the sky.

This bride-snatching bandit wasn’t a man; she was dressed in men’s clothing, her bright red wedding gown cut with traces of sword marks, looking as though she had undergone intense combat during the bride-snatching. White bandages peeked out from the torn wedding gown, protruding from the trailing end.

The startled bride had long and slender legs, half-bent, her knees pressed against the bandit’s collarbone, and the raised chest below confirmed the bandit’s female identity.

The laughing expression on the bride-snatching female bandit’s face was relaxed and bright, but her body was marked with splatters of fresh blood. Behind her, red footprints extended into the depths of the forest, a broken sword lying far away on the ground, and a body could faintly be seen lying prone on the ground…

In this situation, one couldn’t help but suspect that her clothes had been stripped from the original groom.

“What the heck! What is this!”

“Bandit bride-snatching? And she’s wounded, oh my god!!!”

“Friends, I now have goosebumps all over me. So, this bandit is Little Pearl, and the bride is Nuo Nuo? At this time, Teacher Bowl posted this picture. Could this be the real reason Teacher Bowl abandoned Xinran and joined Pengran Xindong? Did Xu Heran snatch Xin Nuo?”

“………………”

“How did she snatch him? A game? Is there a game segment recorded by the program today? Then Little Pearl carried Xin Nuo with her girlfriend power and kicked Teacher Bowl into Pengran Xindong with one kick?”

“I don’t know how Little Pearl kicked, but this picture by Teacher Bowl has kicked me into a deep pit. I request the people above to help me cover the soil. Tonight, let’s raise our glasses and together, for our bandit-like hero, shout ‘Well snatched!'”

“Make way down there, I’m jumping in too!”

Xu Heran and Xin Nuo had no idea that today, they would be caught up in the whirlwind stirred by their assistant, Yu Wan, who appeared calm and quiet with her round face and eyes, and a not-so-tall stature. With her own efforts, she had managed to drag numerous people into the Xinran pit, and now, with a single artwork, she had caused countless people to switch allegiances, shouting praises for Xu Heran’s prowess!

The longtime dormant fans of Pengran Xindong were teary-eyed as they emerged from the depths, holding their milk buckets and cautiously asking, “Is it really happening? Although there aren’t many, I have some resources here. Want something to eat?”

Former fans of Xinran had already scrutinized all their videos for the sake of fan service, but they never expected there to be new resources. They definitely had to give it a try! As for why they were supporting a panda cub’s milk bucket?

“Yeah, I just want Xu Xu to drink more milk and grow taller quickly. Once she’s taller than Nuo Nuo, no one will doubt Pengran Xindong’s position anymore… right?” The fan spoke with wisdom.

“…”

“Fu, fu, fu…”

Xu Heran took a sip from the straw, sitting cross-legged on the bed with her blue-purple eyes clear and innocent, looking at Xin Nuo.

Xin Nuo crossed her arms, leaning against the cabinet by the window, staring at her coldly.

“Fu, fu.”

The milk box in her hand had already deflated, and the straw made a faint gasping sound.

“Um, my ear’s a bit itchy,” Xu Heran released the squashed straw from her bite, whispered softly, raised her hand to rub her ear, and suddenly thought of something, her suspicious gaze drifting over to Xin Nuo, who was still watching her.

“I suspect someone is secretly talking behind my back in their mind, and I won’t say who it is!” She wore an expression of “You better not let me catch you.”

Xin Nuo coldly pressed her lips together, her voice low and melodious, sounding like someone had thrown an open rose onto a soft carpet, petals falling, fragile veins breaking, floral essence moistening the surface, fragrant fragments wafting in the air.

“Is that so? Well, I happen to think…”

“Someone’s getting their bottom slapped today, and I won’t say who.”

Her tone was slow, “I can only hint to you, this person is between you and me.”

“Fu—”

Xu Heran was startled and took a deep gulp of milk, but nothing came up. She pretended to remain calm, threw the milk box to the ground, slid her feet into the sheets, and pulled them up with force. As she lay flat, the blanket was securely draped over her.

“I’m going to sleep, goodnight.”

With that, she remained motionless.

Xin Nuo didn’t speak. She stood upright, running her hand through her hair.

Outside the window, the winding cobblestone path led to various parts of the training camp. The simple-shaped streetlights were like loyal sentinels, casting a gentle glow. A few trainees who only returned to their dorms at this hour chatted and laughed, stepping onto the stairs with youthful and radiant faces, and instinctively lowered their voices as they entered the lobby.

Xin Nuo coldly withdrew her gaze, pulling the curtains shut.

Inside the blanket, Xu Heran, who had been sneakily observing, immediately closed her eyes the moment Xin Nuo turned around.

“Xu Heran, throw your milk box into the trash bin.” Xin Nuo was in her pajamas, short-sleeved top and shorts. Her two long, smooth legs were as delicate as jade. As she stood on her tiptoes, searching for a hairpin from the cabinet above, the muscles in her legs tightened slightly, and the rounded and pinkish curves were slightly outlined by the light.

“Gudong.” Xu Heran closed her eyes again, pretending not to see or hear.

“Xu Heran.” Xin Nuo stood there, her gaze shifting to the bed, and she used the teeth of the hairpin to comb through her hair before sweeping her waist-length black hair up and securing it with a pearl hairpin.

“And your calcium tablet, brush your teeth after eating and go to sleep.”

Xu Heran: “Hoo~”

Pearl was really about to get a beating.

Thinking of the embarrassing scene in front of others during the day, Xin Nuo’s gaze turned heavy. She looked at Xu Heran, who had feigned death with determination, and smirked.

“Thud.”

The mattress trembled, and Xu Heran perked up her ears, sensing Xin Nuo’s footsteps. She probably sat down at the end of the bed.

As long as I don’t go out, Nuo Nuo can’t do anything to me.

Xu Heran thought happily.

Just as she was entangled with whether to secretly lift the blanket to sneak a peek at Xin Nuo, a slightly cool hand quietly slipped under the covers. It caught her off guard, but then decisively pressed onto Xu Heran’s ankle with force.

“Ah!”

Xu Heran jolted and sat up, meeting Xin Nuo’s dark and stern eyes.

“Oh, awake?” Xin Nuo raised an eyebrow, her smile almost a smirk. Her palm moved upward, pressing at the center of Xu Heran’s calf, where the most flesh was.

“Hiss— I was wrong, sister! You’re my real sister! Have mercy!”

Just two days of pain had already etched into Xu Heran’s nerves, making her legs tremble uncontrollably. Dancing too much made her muscles tighten, and with that tightness came cramps, and with cramps came pain. So, throughout the day, she had to massage her leg muscles multiple times. During the day, it was manageable with the help of assistant sisters, but at night, there was a specialized doctor who came for massages and medicine. These doctors wouldn’t show mercy just because Xu Heran was in pain. They applied steady, precise, and ruthless pressure, turning a pearl into pearl powder.

Now, someone’s hand was getting close to her leg, and Xu Heran instinctively pulled her leg back.

The doctor’s original words were to massage more, and using a bit more force was fine.

Xin Nuo smiled gently at Xu Heran, following the doctor’s advice.

“Good girl.”

Now she knows how to call her sister?

Was it late or not?

“Ah—”

“No shouting, disturbing the peace.” Xin Nuo’s hand remained on Xu Heran’s leg, mimicking the doctor’s techniques for massaging her. Well, she added a bit more pressure.

Xu Heran clenched her teeth, stretched her neck, and suppressed her voice, “Nuo Nuo!”

“Sister Nuo Nuo, you’ve already had a massage today, no need for another one~ Oops!” She said fearfully.

Xin Nuo was looking for an opportunity during the day, how could she let her off now?

“Feeling uncomfortable? Is sister’s technique good, or is the doctor’s technique more comfortable? How about I help you from now on?” Xin Nuo said with a smiling squint.

Nuo Nuo was a devil.

The thought flashed through Xu Heran’s mind. She took a deep breath, pressed both hands against the bed, and seized the chance to roll out. Xin Nuo’s hand missed, and Xu Heran’s leg “whooshed” out of her grip.

“Why run, no running allowed!”

Surviving the ordeal, Pearl sat on the ground, arms propped behind her, legs tucked under the bed. Her blue-purple eyes scanned Xin Nuo’s expression, catching a hint of provocation. She sighed and shook her head, “Sister Nuo Nuo, you’re a grudge-holder.”

Xin Nuo knelt on the bed, her fair palm pressing into the soft sheets. Upon hearing Xu Heran’s voice, she coldly smirked, “If you’ve got the guts, come up here!”

“Hehe.” Xu Heran blew her bangs and her gaze slid down Xin Nuo’s face. The loose pajamas draped over her slim body, and the light gray shorts clung closely to her. The lace edges at the bottom pressed against the gap between her thighs. Her slender legs rested quietly within the blue air-conditioned blanket.

Hmm~

Xu Heran licked her lips and lightly bit her tongue tip.

“Come up… well, it’s not like it’s impossible.” She murmured, her azure eyes growing heavy, like the sky darkening with shadows before a storm.

“I’m a grateful pearl. If Nuo Nuo helps me with a massage, then I should help Nuo Nuo too.” Xu Heran tilted her head, “In the Pearl family, we help each other!” After saying that, she pulled her leg out from under the bed.

In the center of the bed, Xin Nuo’s heart suddenly raced. She suddenly remembered that this was the exact expression Xu Heran wore whenever she had a mischievous idea!

“I didn’t say you should come up, just don’t run away.” Xu Heran grinned mischievously as she got up and knelt by the bedside.

“I don’t want to deal with you.” Xin Nuo pretended to be indifferent and pulled a pillow over.

“No way! Sister Nuo Nuo has to deal with me!”

At the edge of the bed, a slender figure leaped up. Before she could get close, she was swatted by the pillow. The pearls were tough and not afraid of pillows. With the pillow in hand, she attacked, grabbing Xin Nuo’s wrist.

“Xu Heran!” Xin Nuo angrily shouted.

“Shh— Don’t disturb the peace.” Xu Heran said with a smile, holding Xin Nuo’s wrist with one hand and pressing down on her resisting leg with the other. Then, she clasped her hands together, exerting force from her core, and lifted Xin Nuo’s entire body into her embrace.

“Ah!” Xin Nuo “thudded” onto the bed. She didn’t know when she had been laid down on the mattress. Xu Heran sat beside her, holding up her leg, a triumphant smile on her face.

“I’ll give sister a massage.”

Xin Nuo’s dark pupils dilated. Given Xu Heran’s strength, she—

“Ah!”

Xu Heran’s fingers were quite long, and her joints protruded when she exerted force. The pads of her fingers pressed against Xin Nuo’s soft skin. Xin Nuo tilted her head back, her chest arching high, clothing sliding down to expose her slim and flat waist to the air.

“How’s it feeling, Sister Nuo Nuo? Comfortable?” Xu Heran’s eyes curved innocently as she asked, “Is my technique good? Although I may be a bit inexperienced, if Sister Nuo Nuo is willing to let me practice often, over time, I’m sure my skills will satisfy you!”

“Xu… Heran… Mmm!”

Xin Nuo clenched the bedsheet tightly, her slender neck forming a taut line, her collarbone area rising and falling. A slight sheen of sweat emerged on the smooth skin around it.

You’re done for, Xu Heran!

Xu Heran was a clever little pearl. After just two days of suffering, she had already learned about certain acupoints and the most fatigued muscle areas in the legs. Of course, she wasn’t randomly massaging Xin Nuo. She couldn’t bear to treat Xin Nuo carelessly, and besides, she was already exerting less force during the massage for Xin Nuo.

“Here, take a deep breath. Did you slack off during your stretches? This area is quite tight.” Xu Heran earnestly massaged Xin Nuo.

Huh.

Xin Nuo slowly ground her teeth.

“Oh, speaking of which, didn’t the doctor say that it’s good to massage the feet regularly for the body? She even taught me about acupoints.” Seeing Xin Nuo lying stiffly and seemingly giving up on resisting, Xu Heran let go of her leg, held her ankle, and touched the sole of Xin Nuo’s foot.

“Is this the kidney reflex zone, N—!”

Xu Heran’s words weren’t even finished when two straight legs instantly coiled around her waist. Xin Nuo forcefully twisted her body and used her leg muscles to pin Xu Heran down onto the bed.

“Hiss— Xu Heran, you dare bite me again?” A hint of red appeared at the corners of Xin Nuo’s pitch-black eyes. She sat atop Xu Heran and gave her head a hard pat.

“Innocent! I accidentally bumped it!” Xu Heran raised her hand in surrender. Bumping her teeth hurt too!

“Where did you bump it? Should I massage it for you?” A certain pearl inquired without any sense of self-preservation.

Sitting on top of her, Xin Nuo looked at Xu Heran’s bright smile, and the more she thought about it, the angrier she became, and the angrier she became… infuriated!

“Xu Heran! You’re so dead!”

“Ah—”

In Dormitory 1, five people silently got out of bed, exchanging knowing secretive smiles with each other.

Hmm, things got quite intense next door yesterday.

Sasa nudged Lin Weining with a playful expression. “Ning Ning, tell Little Pearl to take it easy.”

“Stop fooling around.” Lin Weining was putting on her shoes and couldn’t help but laugh.

Sasa burst into hearty laughter, leaning against the ladder at the foot of her bed, observing Lin Weining’s expression.

Angel Entertainment sent a total of seven trainees, and after three rounds of eliminations, only she, Lin Weining, Jian Yueyin, and the precarious ranking of 34th, Mary, remained. She had gone from 13th place to 4th place for debut, and this time back at the company, her manager’s expression was relatively mild, but it was different for Lin Weining. Among the trainees nurtured by Angel Entertainment, Lin Weining was one of the highly valued ones, but she had suddenly dropped from first to seventh place. Her manager scolded Lin Weining bitterly.

At Angel Entertainment, not only stars but also trainees and managers bear significant pressure. Only by nurturing outstanding artists can managers climb the ladder. As trainees, their status within the company isn’t high, and the status of the managers who guide them isn’t very high either. He held high hopes for Lin Weining, and her drop in ranking was a greater blow to him than it was to the trainee herself.

He vented his own stress onto the trainees, and Lin Weining had been in a low mood since returning to the training camp.

But when she returned to the dormitory after training last night, she found that Lin Weining was much more cheerful. She was even humming a tune, probably feeling confident about the next stage.

Seeing her mood improve, Sasa finally breathed a sigh of relief. She turned her head to the girl next to her and said, “Hey, Yueliang, with our extraordinary trump card Yueyin, are we going to use one of her songs?”

After the last stage, their trust in Jian Yueyin’s lyrics and music had significantly increased.

Mu Yueliang stuck out her tongue. “Guess~”

“I guess you don’t dare!” Sasa suddenly dashed over and playfully patted her on the buttocks, half serious and half joking. “I don’t know about you, little cutie, but this time the winner’s reward is quite generous. Even if you originally chose a song by Yueyin, you wouldn’t dare use it now, right? But you’re in Team 2, Youyou’s in Team 3, and I’m in Team 5. Let’s make sure we don’t clash with our song choices!”

She raised her voice so that Youyou could hear as well. Among these three trainees, who shared a similar style and had high rankings, they were all sweet and adorable girls, and they were all team captains, so they had a greater say in choosing songs.

Mu Yueliang was similarly concerned about this issue. In Team 3, aside from Youyou, there were also two other trainees from her company. Compared to Sasa’s team, she was more worried about Team 3. However, as the captain of Team 2, she absolutely couldn’t show any signs of weakness.

“Hehe, well, the truth will be revealed on the stage!”

“Let’s battle!” Sasa imitated a snake pose.

“Oh, we’ll just go with the flow. Being in the top three is satisfying enough for us.” Youyou hugged Sang Shiyi’s arm, waved to everyone, and had a calm and easygoing expression.

Mu Yueliang, Sasa: “…”

Oops, we forgot there’s still Team 3 here!

The covert exchange of information about songs, just like what they were doing, was happening in other dormitories too. Everyone briefly chatted and then stopped, focusing all their attention on training.

Just as they were laughing and getting ready to go to the cafeteria for a meal, a loud shout suddenly echoed through the corridor.

“Xu Heran!”

The Universal Entertainment manager stormed forward with determined steps, a frosty expression on her face. Her nervous assistant followed behind.

Haya leaned against the door frame, holding up her walkie-talkie. “Hey there, hey there! Run! Your manager is going to murder Pearl!”

“Creak.” Cui Qi halted her steps, her gaze ablaze, and turned her head to look at Haya.

Haya: “…”

“Cough, what a lovely day today.” Haya lowered her hand and whistled.

“Today, I’m having the director confiscate your walkie-talkie!” Cui Qi retorted coldly.

Haya immediately begged for mercy. “Please, Sister Cui, spare me! I’ll report! Last night, Little Pearl wasn’t sleeping honestly. She was making a ruckus with Xin Nuo in the room! We all heard it!”

In fact, after hearing the noise from next door, everyone had gathered around the wall to eavesdrop. Haya was the most gleeful listener!

“What?” Cui Qi raised an eyebrow, flames igniting behind her eyes. She marched to Xu Heran’s door, rapping on it as she shouted, “Xu Heran! What did the doctor say? To rest more, isn’t your leg no longer hurting?”

“If you don’t rest, does Xin Nuo rest?”

“Did you carry Xin Nuo on your shoulders yesterday?”

This morning, when her assistant showed her the fan-drawn picture, she was so shocked that her heart almost jumped out of her chest. She knew that she could eat a lot, but she hadn’t expected this much. Her assistant, Yu Wan, was not only Professor Ji’s friend but also a fan of Xu Heran.

Since she drew this picture and even said it made her heart race, it must mean that Xu Heran had caused a ruckus again yesterday!

Behind the door, Xu Heran resisted with her back against the wall.

“I didn’t!”

“Do you have any evidence?”

“If you don’t have any evidence, then it means I didn’t do it! I, Xu Heran, am innocent! I won’t be falsely accused!” Xu Heran stood defiantly with her hands on her hips behind the tightly closed door, swaggering, “Don’t blame everything on me, whether it’s black or white. I’m well-behaved!”

“Hmph.” Xin Nuo put on her cap, sneered, and without hesitation, unlatched the inserted door bolt.

Xu Heran: “!!!”

Help, there’s a mole!

“Thank you, Nuo Nuo. You can go ahead. I’ll have a word with Ran Ran,” Cui Qi said softly upon seeing Xin Nuo, her tone gentle. After stepping aside and letting Xin Nuo leave, she immediately blocked Xu Heran, who seemed ready to rush out.

“Xu Heran…” Cui Qi’s sinister voice echoed like the call of an underworld judge. Xu Heran shrugged her shoulders, trembling, but when Cui Qi’s gaze fell on her face, her expression changed. Cui Qi was shocked and exclaimed, “What happened to your face?”

“Hahaha!”

“Hahahaha… Bro, come over here, film this way!”

Inside the practice room, Jiang Qiong tugged at the cameraman’s clothes, pulling him in front of Xu Heran and pointing at her face. “Make sure to capture it in high definition, 4000k high-resolution images!”

Xu Heran crossed her arms, sat with her legs crossed, and rolled her eyes at the dark camera.

On the left side of her cheek, where there was the most flesh, a neat set of teeth marks were imprinted as if stamped onto the flesh.

“Xin Nuo has good dental hygiene,” Haya commented.

Xu Heran rolled her eyes again. Throughout the morning, she had already been the center of attention for everyone. Fortunately, the director had confiscated their phones; otherwise, these people might have dragged her into taking photos!

“Why are you here? This is Team One! Get out, get out,” Xu Heran dismissed with a disgusted wave of her hand.

“Don’t be like that. I’ll stay for a bit longer. I want to see when this teeth mark of yours will fade,” Haya said cheerfully. Watching a fake pearl shed tears couldn’t be as entertaining as teasing a real pearl.

“Nuo Nuo!” Xu Heran called for backup.

Xin Nuo didn’t even raise her head, engrossed in examining the gauze in the first aid kit. When Xu Heran called her, she pretended not to hear.

Xu Heran pouted in exasperation.

“Hey, look, you caused trouble, and Xin Nuo’s ignoring you now, right?” Haya added fuel to the fire, enjoying the commotion.

“You’re so annoying!” Xu Heran said with frustration. She looked left and right and, in the end, it was kind-hearted Lin Weining who took action. She grabbed Haya’s arm and pushed her out.

“Finally, some peace and quiet.” Xu Heran feigned a loud voice. She lifted her bottom, pushed off the ground with her feet, and slid backward with a “whoosh.” Her backside hit the mirror, and her head drooped down.

“Sister Nuo Nuo…” she sweetly called out, “What are you doing?”

“Hmph,” Xin Nuo’s expression remained neutral as she applied a bandage onto the gauze.

Xu Heran lowered her gaze, tilted her head, and looked at Xin Nuo. “Look at me, you ignored me all morning.”

“Oh,” Xin Nuo responded concisely.

Since last night, she hadn’t been paying attention to Xu Heran.

“I really messed up, I’ll let you pinch me back, sister, Sister Nuo Nuo,” Xu Heran buried her head in Xin Nuo’s shoulder, rubbing against her while acting coquettishly.

Xin Nuo bought into her nonsense. “Haha.”

Xu Heran: “…”

“Xu Xu, your manager is looking for you.” Lin Weining, standing in the corridor, shouted, then covered her mouth in surprise.

Xu Heran’s eyes lit up, and she immediately got up, patting her bottom as she ran out.

Xin Nuo, who was applying the last piece of bandage onto the well-prepared gauze, paused. She furrowed her brow tightly, her previously calm mood now disrupted by irritation, annoyance, mingled with a hint of resentment and gloominess.

A surprised “Wow” came from a girl in the hallway. Perhaps the program team was setting up a special segment, but all of this failed to pique Xin Nuo’s interest. She looked at the gauze in her hand and suddenly felt the urge to stuff it into Xu Heran’s mouth and make her swallow it.

A figure happily dashed in. Xu Heran cheerfully called out, “Nuo Nuo.”

Xin Nuo’s inner frustration hadn’t subsided yet. The moment Xu Heran called her name, she immediately lifted her gaze, ready to glare at her. However, a bundle of brightly colored flowers came into her view.

“Ta-da~”

Xu Heran knelt on the ground, holding the flowers and said to Xin Nuo, “I really messed up. This is the apology gift I offer to Sister Nuo Nuo. Please don’t be angry, Sister Nuo Nuo.”

The flowers were sunflowers and baby’s breath, vibrant and tightly arranged in a kraft paper.

“And a cup of low-sugar milk tea!” Xu Heran raised another bag, “With extra pearls!”

“Sister Nuo Nuo, I can’t let you bite right now, but I’ve brought you plenty of pearls. You can bite them however you want!”

The girl’s blue-purple eyes were bright, harboring sincerity and a touch of caution.

Xin Nuo looked at her for a moment, the corners of her mouth, which had been stiff all morning, finally lifted slowly.

“Fool,” Xin Nuo whispered softly, pressing the gauze in her hand onto Xu Heran’s face, covering the area with the teeth marks.

“Isn’t this against the rules?”

“Nope! Sister Cui helped me apply to the director specially, for all the staff and trainees to have milk tea. I bought it only after the director approved!” Xu Heran handed both the bouquet and the milk tea to Xin Nuo, opened her arms, and hugged her.

“Nuo Nuo, can you not be angry anymore, okay?”

Xin Nuo pinched the sunflower petal between her fingers, pursed her lips, her tone subdued.

“Mhm.”

“Hehe!” Xu Heran became happy, unable to resist hugging Xin Nuo. This time, she could finally rub against Xin Nuo without worries!

The girl in the mirror smiled with joy, her expression as if she possessed the whole world.

So, Nuo Nuo was setting this up for me just now.

Looking at the gauze on her face, Xu Heran realized. Her gaze shifted to the mirror, her face, and the gauze…

“Hey, I have an idea!” She let go of Xin Nuo, snapped her fingers, and said, “About the stage makeup for this performance!”

Anybody else not like the trope of characters being violent like Nuo? Like, I’m all for punishing misbehaving people like Heran, but keep it reasonable and non-physical? Intentionally causing pain for someone you claim to care about is pretty f*cked in any situation. I’m also kinda bothered by Heran’s complete disregard of Nuo’s boundaries, but that’s a story for another comment

For me, I actually don’t mind. I have seen stories who are unnecessarily violent like the anime tropes but this one seems more like roughhousing. It’s playfully rough but that comes from my experience where I have friends in the past (we got really distant because of studies and never got back) who slap people when laughing and some who slap my butt playfully.

Xin Nuo seems to be the type who can stand up for herself even if it is Xu Heran. The relationship is very implicit where she just allows it.

This just comes from my experience as a Filipino. Around that age, I have been surrounded by some affectionate people so I may interpret their relationship similarly to what I have experienced.
