The Players And The Protagonist Want To Kill Me – Volume 1, Chapter 42

Chapter 42: What to Do When Caught Stealing Stockings by the Maid?

“So, Lord, are we going to start preparing for battle now?” Gudbay asked, somewhat excited at the prospect.

He liked seeing his lord take on the appearance of a bandit.

Seeing Gudbay’s eager expression, Sivey couldn’t help but laugh, thinking this guy might also have a taste for conflict.

“Why the rush? We just came back from the Black River Territory. Let everyone rest for a couple of days and see what the Button Family does.”

“All right, if there’s nothing else, you can leave,” Sivey said, starting to usher Gudbay out. He had been back for so long and hadn’t had time to take a bath.

“Oh, and hang up all the oil paintings Talrand found in the corridor. Winterkeep looks like a dungeon without them.”

Gudbay nodded and was about to leave the room when Sivey’s voice came from behind him, light and airy:

“Remember to wash your underwear and socks, add it to the yearly routine~”

Gudbay: “……(?_?)”

After seeing off Gudbay, Sivey quickly went to the castle bathroom, stripped naked, and immersed himself in the water. Instantly, he felt healed inside and out.

It had been three days now, and Sivey felt that the potency of the dragon blood potion had essentially worn off. He looked at his body and noticed he had grown taller again, probably around 1.9 meters now. His body was muscular and explosive, yet without appearing bulky.

Even his “Cannon” had been enhanced, both in caliber and in the number of rounds it could hold, as well as its ability to sustain combat. Before, he could probably take out four or five with one shot; now, he could easily triple that.

Deep down, he sensed that his entire membrane had been strengthened. Any common blade without Qi infusion would struggle to injure him.

If one day he found himself deeply entrenched in enemy ranks, with his Qi completely depleted, this strengthened membrane might just save his life.

Externally, the dragon blood potion had already proven very effective, but this was just the tip of the iceberg.

What truly made Sivey appreciate the power of the dragon blood potion was the change in his Qi level.

[Name: Sivey Golden Lion]

[Identity: Eagle Lord, Count]

[Strength: Sky Knight level 51 (51-60)]

[Skills: Intermediate Magic Immunity, Dragon Vein Power (Strength Boost), Radiant Bastion, Fearless Charge, Savage Lion Strike, Resolute Will, Legendary Heavy Sword Mastery]

[Equipment: Triumphant Paladin Hero Plate Armor (Heroic, Unique), Golden Lion Glorious Greatsword (Master)]

[Cologne Empire reputation: 283149↑ (Your deeds are widely known in the Golden Lion Duke’s territory, and your legend is spreading in the Black River Territory and Eagle Territory)]

[Orc Empire reputation: 5784↑ (Thorne Bloodfang swears to lead the Orc army to flatten Eagle Territory)]

[Demi-human faction reputation: 734↑ (You are the existence feared by all demi-humans)]

[Button Territory reputation: 12 (They have been very vigilant since discovering the iron mine)]

“So, I’ve acquired two more passive skills: Intermediate Magic Immunity and Dragon Vein Power. I’ve finally become a Sky Knight!” Sivey clenched his fist in excitement, feeling the surge of Qi within him. The increase in strength brought him a newfound sense of security. Now, he was likely the youngest Sky Knight in the entire Cologne Empire.

The primary difference between a Sky Knight and an Earth Knight lies in the quantity of Qi and the ability for sustained output.

Upon reaching the rank of Sky Knight, the Qi in one’s body increases exponentially, becoming dense enough to lift a person and even enable flight. However, this ability is not typically used for long-distance travel due to its high Qi consumption and limited sustainability.

In other aspects, Sky Knights possess stronger Qi conduction levels, greater explosiveness, and more resilient bodies compared to Earth Knights.

The latter two are straightforward, while the former is a fundamental factor in a knight’s strength.

For instance, a common knight using Cross Slash might only be able to split a wooden stake, but a Sky Knight using the same skill could cleave through a city wall.

After a moment of exhilaration, Sivey checked his information panel and noticed something troubling.

“Who is this Thorne Bloodfang? And leading an orc army to flatten Eagle Territory?” Sivey frowned. Occasionally, his reputation panel would deliver unexpected news.

From the name, Thorne Bloodfang seemed related to Bayden Bloodfang—perhaps as his father or brother.

Thorne was more likely Bayden’s father, given the grand statement of flattening Eagle Territory, which would require a substantial army.

Sivey despised being targeted.

But once he was, he preferred to deal with the threat proactively, whether it was a player or Talrand. “It seems we need to start reinforcing the border defenses. If the orc army plans to attack Eagle Territory directly, they’ll probably cross the Toronta Mountains. Otherwise, they might target Black River Territory again.”

With this thought, Sivey promptly wrote letters to several towns on the border, including Dawn Town. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for the newly appointed Baron of Black River Territory.

It was likely that this Baron, whom Sivey had never met, would face an orc invasion shortly after taking office.

When Sivey returned to his room, it was already late at night. The little maid Lori was awake, diligently wiping his armor.

She had nearly finished cleaning the breastplate, leaving only its lining untouched.

Lori had a sweet smile on her face, imagining how imposing her master would look in his armor, which filled her with a tingly sense of pride.

Just as she reached into the pocket of the breastplate lining, she heard Sivey’s anxious shout from behind. “Hey! Don’t—!”

But it was too late.

The maid’s hand had already reached in and pulled out a pair of white stockings.

It was the one she couldn’t find three days ago…
