My Childhood Sweetheart Gradually Puffed Up CH.87

Chapter 87: Settling Yesterday’s Deep Hatred, Let’s Give it a Try Today!

On the second day of January, the sky was slightly overcast, and yesterday’s snow was melting, bone-chilling cold.

Before leaving, Wen Yu added another scarf.

Fu Chengque rubbed her hands as she left, dressed warmly with a scarf around her neck.

Wen Yu’s eyes gleamed. “Manager Fu, did you buy a new scarf? It looks pretty…”

Fu Chengque glared back fiercely. “Don’t even think about it!”

“I’m just praising it, look how scared you got.”

Wen Yu proudly rubbed the checkered woolen scarf around his neck. “Mine looks better and warmer.”

With a toss of his head, he headed downstairs.

Too arrogant!

Too domineering!

Too inflated!

Fu Chengque glared at Wen Yu’s retreating figure, but when she saw her former scarf around his neck, a strange feeling arose in her heart.

Ah, yes, it must be because Wen Yu snatched it away!

She felt resentful.

This grudge was noted by the Empress and would be avenged immediately!

With gritted teeth, she followed behind.

As for the possibility of classmates noticing her former scarf around Wen Yu’s neck, haha, she didn’t even bother to think about it—

It didn’t matter at all! —

Class Four.

The classroom was slightly cold, but it was much better than outside.

As more and more people entered, talking and breathing would continue to raise the temperature.

Today, the students’ enthusiasm for discussion seemed particularly high. When Wen Yu and Fu Chengque entered the classroom, they were pushed forward by the rush of hot air from the door.

Rare holidays and the New Year brought different topics for everyone to discuss. Today’s morning self-study period, in the absence of Teacher Chen, was particularly lively.

“Did anyone go out for New Year’s Eve? I stayed home and saw fireworks; they were really beautiful!”

“I heard there was a big concert in Jiangcheng? Who performed?”

“They organized a big one! I saw some stars on my friend’s social media, and there’s a small star called Xu Song, who’s been popular online these past few years.”

“What are you talking about? The concert? Hmm, actually, I was there in person… Hey hey, isn’t the scarf Wen Yu’s wearing the one Fu Chengque had before?”

“The scarf? Haven’t seen it, never mind that, tell us more about the concert!”

The break after the morning self-study period was longer. Fu Chengque took out a bag of candy from her bag, ready to share it.

She gave the first one to her desk mate.

Then, when she saw Wen Yu’s expression of “just one?”, she pretended not to notice and called Xiao Gua, Lu Min, and Fang Ling together, sharing some with them, then chatting with them.

“This milk candy smells really good!”

“Chengque, thanks for the candy!”

“So delicious, feels even better than the ones I usually eat.”

“Hehehe…”

They chatted while eating.

Xiao Gua remembered something important and asked, “Did everything go smoothly for you two on your way back that day?”

Lu Min and Fang Ling both answered that everything was fine, but Fu Chengque remained silent.

Xiao Gua looked at her. “Chengque?”

Fu Chengque frowned. “I… I got caught. My dad saw it at a glance.”

“Ah, then…”

“He didn’t say anything about me!” she said gleefully. “He even made me some sobering soup. I was really scared at that moment; his face was so dark.”

“Your dad is really nice…” Xiao Gua said leisurely, then added, “When Wen Yu escorted you back that day, remember to thank him.”

Fu Chengque nodded, thinking to herself: I’ve already thanked him, so today counts as a new debt.

After chatting with a few people, she grabbed some more candy and let everyone pass it around freely.

After a round of passing, most people were delighted, some were indifferent, but when they looked at this group of cheerful faces, there was always some envy.

With everything settled, Fu Chengque’s gaze fell back on Wen Yu’s face.

There were still some candies left in the bag, so she pulled out another one and handed it over.

“Wen Yu, here’s another one for you,” Fu Chengque said with a smile, softly.

Wen Yu glanced at her. “No thanks.”

“Huh? Don’t want it? Yesterday you said you’ve been wanting to eat it.”

“It’s too cold today.”

“Then can I take it?”

“Just these two; if others see, they might think I can’t afford it!”

“Haha!”

The girl took out another candy, smiling, “Wen, how about we play a little game? If you can say a nice New Year’s idiom related to numbers, and the number must be bigger than the previous one, I’ll give you a candy. If you can’t think of one in 30 seconds…”

She suddenly pulled out a mysterious candy wrapped in the same White Rabbit candy wrapper from her pocket.

She held it up and showed it off.

Then proudly said, “If you can’t think of one in 30 seconds, you have to eat this candy, deal?”

Wen Yu looked at Fu Chengque’s openly scheming face, and without hesitation, nodded.

“Sure, but it’s not fair if only I lose. How about we take turns? I have 10 seconds, you have 30 seconds. Whoever can’t come up with one or exceeds the time limit has to eat that candy. Of course, if I say one, you have to give me your candy too, and if you run out of candy, you lose.”

“This…”

Fu Chengque hesitated on the surface but was overjoyed in her heart.

That darn Wen Yu—

So arrogant!

So presumptuous!

So full of himself!

Pride comes before a fall, hmph, but isn’t this a perfect opportunity for revenge?

“Come on! Let’s compare!”

“Not eating is being a coward!”

“A coward is a coward.”

She immediately grabbed a candy from the bag and said, “Smooth sailing!”

Wen Yu didn’t hesitate. “Killing two birds with one stone.”

“Prosperity in three suns!”

“Four blessings at the doorstep!”

After a few rounds, Fu Chengque suddenly got stuck at “nine.”

It was that feeling when there seemed to be something in your head, but you couldn’t remember anything! She suddenly became flustered, looking around, but the more she panicked, the less she could remember!

Wen Yu was cheering her on from the side, “Hey hey hey, Empress, can’t think of one? Counting down! 30… 24… 18…”

Fu Chengque covered her ears, clutching her head, racked her brain.

What’s with nine!

“10… 7… 4…”

Nine nine nine!

Darn it! Couldn’t think of anything with nine, but remembered a bunch of “liquors” she saw at the supermarket last week.

Oh no!

Seeing her like this, Wen Yu became even more excited as he counted down.

“… 2… 1!” He clapped happily. “Haha, concede, concede! Fu Chengque, you lost.”

Fu Chengque looked depressed.

“Eat, eat, eat! Hurry up and eat!”

Fu Chengque’s face immediately turned bitter.

Eat?

But that was the candy she rolled in salt with a slightly melted surface from last night, and she even dropped a few drops of fresh lemon juice in the morning, meticulously creating the “candy bomb”!

It might as well be a “salted lemon juice candy bomb” by now!

How could she eat that!

She glanced pitifully at Wen Yu, hoping to garner sympathy and get out of this.

They were neighbors, after all, she hoped he would relent…

But Wen Yu completely ignored her gaze, instead, he waved the candy in front of her eyes.

Infuriating!

Absolutely infuriating!

What should she do!

Just as she was torn, someone from the podium called out, “Monitor, come and clean the blackboard.”

Fu Chengque immediately jumped up, “I’m coming! I’m coming!!”

Then she briskly walked up to the podium and slowly, painstakingly started to clean the blackboard until the bell rang for class.

Back at her seat, Fu Chengque didn’t look around.

Wen Yu glanced at her profile for a while, seeing her pretending like nothing happened, decided not to let her off.

He leaned closer and whispered, “You’re being unfair, aren’t you!”

“What? I don’t understand.” Her face was already starting to turn red as she spoke.

“Fu Chengque, being a person of integrity, you can’t be unfair.”

Fu Chengque looked up at the ceiling and replied in a decreasingly small voice, “That’s not true at all, I have no idea what you’re talking about…”

“Not eating is being a coward, you said it yourself,” Wen Yu provoked her.

“…”

“Not eating makes you a coward!”

“…”

“Is that so?”

“…”

“Woof.”

Wen Yu was immediately stunned.
