Grab The Heroine and Run Away Ch. 36.2

At some point, Xu Heran, who had come over, crouched down. Her right hand blocked Song Fenghua from leaning over the basket, while her left hand forcefully pulled the basket outward.

“No way!” Xin Nuo shouted, trying to stop Xu Heran. Her previous joy turned into anxiety, pressing against Xu Heran’s shoulder, trying to pry away her hand from snatching the basket.

“We clearly made a deal!” Xin Nuo exclaimed, pinching Xu Heran’s face.

“Mm mm mm.”

Xu Heran squinted her eyes, completely ignoring Xin Nuo, giving a perfunctory response. She gripped Song Fenghua’s wrist, using skillful force. With two quick motions, Song Fenghua hadn’t even realized what had happened before she was lying on her back on the soft mat, facing the puzzled expressions of Team Two members.

“?”

“Thirty seconds left!” Ning Yunfei pressed the stopwatch.

“Quick, stop Xu Heran!”

“Go, Xin Nuo! Hang on!”

The anxious shouts of Team Two echoed, while Team Three rushed over to snatch the fallen milk.

“Little Pearl, go for it!” Team One’s members cheered, waving their flags.

Xin Nuo tightly held onto Xu Heran’s shoulders with both hands, her legs gripping her waist, exerting effort to pull her down.

“Don’t even think about it!” Xin Nuo whispered in Xu Heran’s ear, “Deceiver.”

Warm breath brushed against Xu Heran’s fair earlobe, and her skin there instantly reddened. She licked her lips, suddenly dropping to her knees, releasing the basket in her hands, using her foot to hold it down. Then she grabbed the feet entwined around her waist and exerted force.

“Ah…” Xin Nuo exclaimed.

Xu Heran unexpectedly managed to spread apart her legs.

The pink-haired girl clenched her back teeth, squinting her eyes. Just as Xin Nuo relaxed her grip, she suddenly stood up, exerted force with her hips, and tightly held Xin Nuo’s waist with her hands, flinging her legs away.

“Ah ah ah ah!!”

Onlookers shouted in shock.

Xin Nuo stood there in a daze on the ground. The sensation of weightlessness hadn’t even faded yet, and the girl in front of her had a mischievous smile in her eyes. She leaned down, her hands grabbing Xin Nuo’s legs and exerting force.

“Snatched away~” Xu Heran giggled playfully, her left shoulder carrying Xin Nuo, her right hand holding the basket high. Amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd, she joyfully dashed toward Team One.

“Beep!”

“Game over!” Ning Yunfei waved her hand, and Team One erupted in cheers.

In front of their team were placed two baskets, visibly filled with milk cartons!

“We won!”

“Yeah yeah yeah! Thanks, Little Pearl!”

“Where’s Little Pearl?”

“Ah—”

Amidst the crowd, came Little Pearl’s painful shout.

The person who had snatched Xin Nuo back knelt on the ground, gasping for breath as they set the basket down, panting over Xin Nuo.

“Sis Xin Nuo, you’re so heavy!” Xu Heran skillfully began to shovel back.

Xin Nuo slowly closed her eyes, clenched her fists, gritted her teeth, and took a deep breath.

“Xu Heran!”

With Xu Heran’s legs sandwiched between her own, Xin Nuo wrapped her arms around Xu Heran’s neck, tilted her head back, and opened her mouth.

“Roar!”

“Haha, hahaha!”

“Serves you right, Little Pearl!”

“Hahaha, you just couldn’t snatch properly, could you?” Jiang Qiong held her belly, “You had to pick on Xin Nuo, didn’t you?”

Xu Heran felt wronged, “I didn’t pick on her, I even helped her snatch milk!”

“Mm mm mm.” Jiang Qiong nodded.

It’s just that the milk you helped Xin Nuo snatch is now in our team.

“Nicely done.” Haya smiled leisurely, patting Xu Heran’s shoulder heavily, “I finally understand how the bandit bride kidnapping scene came about. Truly, Little Pearl, fans have a feast with you! You’re like a culinary god among mortals!”

She couldn’t even imagine the reactions of the Peng Ran fans after this episode airs! Yes, after seeing the bandit bride kidnapping scene, Haya quickly moved one leg from the Peng Ran pit to another, enjoying both sides of the feast, happily munching away without a care.

When the future situation was settled, she wouldn’t hesitate to sell off what she bought. As long as she keeps feasting like this, she’ll never run out of sweets!

Xu Heran: ??

“What’s this?” Xu Heran rubbed her face in confusion, her fingers touching the teeth marks on her face, and pouted.

“Sigh.” Nearby, Lin Weining let out a soft sigh, “Some people win the game but lose their wife.”

But it smells so good, wuwuwu, being cute is fragrant, running while carrying is fragrant, hugging on the ground is fragrant, even being bitten is fragrant!

Little Pearl temporarily doesn’t have a wife, so be it, anyway, she bumped into something!

Beside her, Song Fenghua stood confused, “???”

What? Whose wife?

Huh?

Ning Yunfei, who had just been sitting on a stool, enjoying the trainees’ back-and-forth struggle in the game, laughing heartily, now that the game was over, returned to the camera to host.

“Congratulations to Team One for the victory. Everyone saw that Xu Heran worked very hard and turned the tide to bring victory to the team! So, trainee Xin Nuo, is there anything you want to say to Xu Heran?” Ning Yunfei, enjoying the spectacle, asked Xin Nuo with a smile.

For a moment, the hidden excitement-filled gazes all fell on Xin Nuo’s face.

Among Team Two, the black-haired girl remained cold, arms crossed, taking the microphone handed over by her teammate.

Xu Heran’s sparkling blue-purple eyes immediately landed on Xin Nuo. She stood at the edge of Team One, with Xin Nuo right next to her. Xin Nuo stared straight ahead, not turning her head.

Xin Nuo said coldly.

Xu Heran immediately cried out, “Wuwu,” and even reached out, wanting to hold Xin Nuo’s hand, but Xin Nuo slapped it away.

“Go away, you’re annoying.” Xin Nuo felt inexplicably embarrassed. Who was it that made her act cute just now?

A swindler like Xu Heran, don’t let her find out.

Hehe.

“Hahaha!”

The trainees laughed even louder, especially Haya, laughing while rubbing her arms. For some reason, she felt a bit chilly.

Ning Yunfei covered her mouth and chuckled softly. She spoke gently, “It seems everyone has no objections to the victory of Team One. So, let the trainees from Team One decide the performance order.”

As her words fell, many pairs of eyes all landed on Xu Heran.

Xu Heran raised her hand, “I want Team Two for the third performance!”

“Is that okay?” She turned her head and looked at her teammates.

Team One nodded, no objections. With only three teams performing, the order of appearance wasn’t as intense as when they competed in larger groups before. Now, they were thinking about the individual stages after the team competition.

They didn’t know if there would be individual stages this time, or if the show’s producers were going to introduce something new. However, they needed to be prepared in advance, not caught off guard like last time.

This time was incredibly important.

With all the votes reset, this was their rare opportunity!

“Is it decided that Team Two will be the third to perform?” After getting confirmation from Team One, Ning Yunfei placed Team Two’s sign at the very end of the lineup.

Xu Heran immediately looked at Xin Nuo. Xin Nuo hooked the corner of her lip and then cast a disdainful glance at Xu Heran. But for some reason, Xu Heran felt that Xin Nuo’s mood had suddenly improved.

Nino often said she was easy to please, but it seemed like Nino herself was also easy to please.

Xu Heran smiled, extending her pinky finger and hooking it with Xin Nuo’s pinky.

They lightly swayed their hands, silently making amends.

In the end, Team Three went first, Team One second, and Team Two third. The order was set.

In Team Two, Liu Yueming raised her hand, “Sister Feifei, may I ask if there will be solo performances this time?”

Ning Yunfei glanced at her cue card and smiled, “That’s a good question. I’m very sorry to inform everyone that there won’t be solo performances in this competition.”

All the trainees expressed disappointment, “Ah…”

“So, does that mean the competition ends after the three performances?” someone unwillingly asked.

Ning Yunfei smiled playfully, “Of course not. While there won’t be solo performances, there will be duo and group performances~”

The trainees: “???”

They looked at Ning Yunfei’s mischievous smile and quickly patted their chests.

“Sister Feifei, you scared us! How could you learn bad things too!”

“Don’t learn from Little Pearl!”

Xu Heran: “?”

What’s it got to do with me! Don’t just throw everything onto me!

“In the next seven days of training, each trainee team will not only practice the group song but also prepare two individual stages. Each stage must be performed by two or more trainees, and no trainee can perform on multiple stages.”

On the performance day, there will be a total of nine stages.

“The upcoming time is up to all of you. Please give it your all and work hard for the final victory!” Ning Yunfei encouraged.

All the trainees raised their hands and cheered, “Let’s go!”

“What do you think?” Jiang Qiong tapped the lyrics on the floor. “The song was chosen by the directors, so we don’t need to worry about repeats. Should we consult with Sister Yueyin?”

“Do you want to adapt it?” Sasa said, “It’s pretty difficult to change.”

“We could ask Sister Yueyin to help us with dividing the lines and give some input,” Jiang Qiong suggested, turning her head. “Speaking of dividing lines, where’s Xu Pearl?”

Team Two, consisting of seven trainees.

1 Xin Nuo, 5 Lin Weining, 9 Liu Yueming, 11 Sang Shiyi, 16 Shu Yuemeng, 19 Song Fenghua, and 20 Ke Yan, plus a certain Pearl who had somehow slipped in.

“What are you doing here?” Xin Nuo asked her.

Xu Heran pretended not to hear, “This song is really charming and graceful. Can we all wear cheongsams for the stage?”

Pearl’s eyes sparkled as if she saw Xin Nuo dancing in front of her. She gestured with excitement, waving her hands and feet, “And then take a folding fan, and dance classical dance! Oh my.”

Xin Nuo pinched Xu Heran’s ear, “So, why are you here?”

“I thought I’d offer some advice to everyone,” Xu Heran’s hand rested on the lyrics. “Do you need me to help with dividing the lines? Cheongsams, cheongsams!”

Lin Weining nodded, “I think it’s a good idea, improved cheongsams.”

“Exactly! It’ll make the waist look slender and the chest look ample—ouch!” Xu Heran rubbed her head after a pinch. She insisted, “That kind!”

“Hehe.”

Others: “…”

Xin Nuo—

“Say something that can be aired,” Song Fenghua suggested. “Cheongsams aren’t great for dancing.”

Xu Heran immediately chimed in, “We can make the side slits higher!”

She stood up promptly, gestured above her waist, then thought for a moment and adjusted downwards, then upwards again, going even higher than the initial gesture. “Both sides open! Then wear a hairpin with a bun, Xin Nuo can have big black wavy hair, wearing a beige cheongsam! Or blue, or green…”

“Whatever Xin Nuo wears will look great. Wahh, I want to see Xin Nuo in a cheongsam!”

Suddenly realizing why she appeared among these people: “…”

“Do you need me to contact the costume designer for everyone? I can have the master come over to measure everyone! Handmade, ready in seven days!” Xu Heran enthusiastically offered. “Guaranteed quality!”

“Does Sister Weining want to wear white?” Xu Heran asked cheerfully.

Lin Weining felt a bit tempted. She wasn’t keen on contacting her manager for her previous stage outfits. It seemed like the manager had gone through several changes, making him quite impatient. The clothes he eventually sent didn’t fit right, so Xu Heran’s costume designer lent her an outfit.

She wouldn’t take advantage of Xu Heran. She would pay Xu Heran for making the clothes.

“Go, go find Jiang Qiong to play,” Xin Nuo raised her hand, pinching Xu Heran’s ear to usher her away.

“Practice singing for me.”

“I want to make clothes for everyone!” Xu Heran clung to the door frame, not letting go.

“You?” Xin Nuo retorted.

Xu Heran held her hand, “I’ll have the costume designer make them, which is pretty much me making them! Let me do it, I want to make clothes for you.”

“Sister Xin Nuo~” Xu Heran playfully swung their linked hands, “It’s settled, I’ll contact Sister Cui.”

“Okay.”

Xin Nuo nodded. She had already decided to sign a contract with Universal Entertainment. She hadn’t mentioned it, but Xu Heran’s team had taken the initiative to prepare her performance outfit, treating her completely as an artist under their own company.

Some naive trainees thought she had a good relationship with Xu Heran and was being taken care of by her. However, on the day when Cui Qi personally drove them back, these trainees realized that Xin Nuo was probably joining Universal Entertainment.

“At that time, we’ll all choose together. We only have seven days, so we should focus our main energy on the song!” Xu Heran said solemnly, only to be pinched on the ear by Xin Nuo.

“Got it, Manager Xu. Go put your energy into the song!” Xin Nuo playfully retorted.

“Ah!” Xu Heran waved reluctantly.

“Wait, Xu Heran.” Song Fenghua suddenly stood up. “I have something to discuss with you.”

Xin Nuo at the doorway stepped back, their gazes collided in the air. “Then let’s practice singing first.”

“Okay.”

Xu Heran stood in the empty corridor, smiling at Song Fenghua. “What’s up, Xiao Fenghua?”

Song Fenghua lifted her gaze slightly and realized, “You’re so tall?”

Xu Heran rubbed her head.

Song Fenghua’s lips curled slightly. The icy indifference in her eyes melted like layers of ice, and a faint shimmer cascaded down, like ripples in a river. Xu Heran paused, looking at Song Fenghua, suddenly reminded of her own sister. She felt that Song Fenghua and her sister were the same kind of people—cold on the surface but soft-hearted and kind inside. She remembered what Haya had said, about how Song Fenghua had stood up for Xu Heran against Xu Yanran.

“I want to ask for your help.” Song Fenghua felt a bit embarrassed, her fingers awkwardly gripping the sheet of lyrics in her hand. She had never asked for help from an outsider before. Growing up with her sister, she had only shown weakness in front of her biological sibling. She hesitated, her voice sounding unfamiliar and dry. “I’ll repay you.”

“Sure!” Xu Heran nodded, her eyes crinkling.

Song Fenghua was taken aback by her unexpected response, choking slightly. She looked at Xu Heran’s clear face and couldn’t help but smile ruefully. “You don’t ask what help I need or what the reward is?”

“You can tell me.” Xu Heran’s hands were in her pockets. “Besides, if I can’t do it, you won’t come to me. Little Fenghua, you’re not someone who finds it hard to speak out or goes back on your word.”

Xu Heran smiled and said, “I trust you.”

“…”

The light in her eyes flowed slowly, causing Song Fenghua, who was looking straight at her, to quickly avert her gaze, her ears turning slightly red.

“Well… I’d like to ask you if you could teach me how to sing this song.” Song Fenghua lowered her eyes and whispered, “I won’t take up too much of your time. Just a little bit every night after training, if you can spare some time to teach me.”

This matter!

Xu Heran quickly nodded, “Sure, sure!”

“I’ll teach you how to sing, and as a reward, after the performance is over, you treat me to a meal. Let’s settle it like that!”

Xu Heran raised her palm.

Song Fenghua quickly lifted her hand.

“Smack.”

The warm palm of the pink-haired girl firmly met Xu Heran’s, and in that moment, Song Fenghua felt her heart being gently tapped.

“Okay, I’m off. See you tonight.”

Xu Heran turned around, her left hand in her pocket and her right hand raised, striking a cool pose before waving.

Song Fenghua watched her figure, and after a moment, she smiled gently.

In the evening, at eight o’clock.

“The dance and song are basically set. Tomorrow, we’ll have the instructor take a look, and if there are no issues, we’ll practice like that.” Team Two’s leader Lin Weining spoke warmly to everyone, “Go back and rest well. We’ll continue tomorrow morning.”

“I’d like to practice a bit more. I haven’t quite mastered my part yet,” Shu Yuemu whispered.

“Sure, sure, I’ll accompany you.” Lin Weining smiled and patted her head.

A shy and embarrassed smile appeared on Shu Yuemu’s face. “Thank you, Sister Weining.”

Xin Nuo bent down, picked up her hat and water bottle, “I’m heading out first.”

The other trainees quickly bid farewell, “Goodbye!”

Xin Nuo gave a faint smile to the people in the practice room.

On this long summer day, the nights were short. The night sky had just turned dark around eight o’clock, and the vegetation swayed gently in the breeze under the streetlights. Many trainees in the practice room were reluctant to leave and voluntarily extended their training time.

Thinking about Xu Heran’s legs, Xin Nuo quickly walked up to an open door, raised her hand and knocked, glancing inside the room.

“Where’s Xu Xu?” She asked in a warm tone.

Jiang Qiong, who was being stretched by Haya, let out a miserable cry and said with a twisted expression, “She left!”

“?”

Xin Nuo furrowed her brows, “Where did she go?”

They used to be in the same team, and they would go back together after training every day.

“Oh!” Haya clapped her hands, and Jiang Qiong, who had nothing to support her, fell to the ground with a crash. “Xiao Pearl asked me to tell you that she’s teaching Xiao Fenghua how to sing. She told you to go back first, and she’ll catch up with you later in the dorm.”

Xin Nuo: “…”

“Don’t add strange words.” Xin Nuo laughed and said, “Well then, I’ll go find her.”

It turns out that Song Fenghua left first to learn singing from Xiao Pearl.

Xin Nuo thought to herself, gently squeezing the half-filled water bottle.

With only three teams left, there were only three rooms in use in the training room. Xin Nuo walked slowly along the corridor and soon heard a familiar voice. She smirked and lightened her footsteps.

“When singing, you must put your emotions into the lyrics… When you sang that line just now, your pronunciation was off, you should use this position…” Xu Heran’s voice echoed in the spacious training room.

The spacious room only had one overhead light on. The pink-haired girl relaxed, curling one leg up while the other foot rested on the smooth floor. Her hand, holding a piece of white paper, rested on her knee as she tapped out the rhythm.

Another girl sat opposite her, their legs slightly touching at the knees. Following Xu Heran’s guidance, Song Fenghua sang the sentence she had been corrected on.

“Um, not right.” Xu Heran frowned, raised her hand, and her index finger tapped the center of Song Fenghua’s slender neck. “Don’t use this place.”

Xin Nuo’s eyesight was quite good, so she clearly saw that after Xu Heran’s finger fell, Song Fenghua’s tense body suddenly moved, and her throat slid up and down.

Someone’s finger followed with a slight movement.

Xin Nuo’s smile gradually faded, like sand being gently brushed away by the wind, dissipating slowly.

“Thud, thud.” She raised her finger, and the knuckle landed on the white door.

“Haya said you’re teaching Fenghua to sing.” Xin Nuo took off her hat, walked into the room with a gentle smile, and sat down beside Xu Heran, who was bright with joy.

“Aren’t you supposed to be resting?” Xu Heran said in surprise, “Did you come specifically to find me?”

“Oh, I just can’t leave you~” Xin Nuo said playfully.

Xu Heran beamed with delight, “You’re so inseparable from me~”

Xin Nuo laughed and lifted her hand, pinching her cheek. She then turned her gaze to the calmly expressioned Song Fenghua. “Why didn’t you tell me? I also wanted Xu Xu to teach me how to sing.”

Xu Heran widened her eyes.

“This song is really difficult, Xu Xu.”

Xin Nuo slightly frowned, resting her chin on Xu Heran’s shoulder, and raised her eyelashes. Her voice was soft, like an ordinary girl seeking help when facing difficulties, with a hint of coquetry in her tone.

“Teach me too.”

We found the bottom everyone! Xu Heran, control yourself, alright?!

  • Влажный's avatar Влажный says:

    >Nuo: fakes pain and tricks Heran to take advantage of her concern

    >Heran: Returns the deception

    >Nuo: Yells and gets angry, and only calms down when Heran gives her team the prime slot, even though Nuo started it

The further I get in this story, the more I realize how messed up her attitude towards Heran is. Heran will bend over backwards to give her everything, but Nuo responds with domestic violence, coldness, and uses a combination of the two to force Heran to behave exactly how Nuo wants her to, even in cases where Nuo is in the wrong. I know it’s meant to be comedic, but if you look at it rationally, it’s anything but funny. I honestly don’t ship the two, unless Nuo gets her shit together and learns how to treat others as people.
