My Childhood Sweetheart Gradually Puffed Up CH.132

Chapter 132: You—Did—It—On—Purpose!

After visiting friends and returning home, the Wen family started bustling around again, preparing to welcome their neighbors.

In the kitchen, Mother Wen and Father Wen were chatting enthusiastically. Wen Yu sat alone in the living room with only the TV for company, feeling quite lonely. Banben transformed into a warm-hearted little male cat, snuggling into his arms, bringing waves of warmth. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, they found solace in each other’s company.

After a while, it suddenly stuck its head out from the blanket, looking towards the direction of the door, its ears twitching slightly.

When Wen Yu also heard footsteps in the hallway, Banben let out a soft “meow” and jumped out of his arms, crouching behind the door.

Although Banben was not afraid of strangers, it still didn’t want to see outsiders.

It was probably Fu Chengque’s family coming back.

As the voices grew louder, Wen Yu got up and peeked through the cat’s eye…

Eyes!

Wow! There was an eye in the cat’s eye!

That eye was looking inside through their cat’s eye from the outside, and it happened to meet Wen Yu’s gaze!

Wen Yu was startled and took two steps back, but quickly calmed down and felt that those eyes were somewhat familiar.

Fu Chengque?

It must be her!

Xiao Qingmei, she’s back!

As Wen Yu opened the door, Fu Chengque, who was tilting her body and peeking inside, froze instantly.

As their eyes met, Fu Chengque was stunned. Her eyes first showed panic, then they darted around, her face suddenly turned red, she began to feel shy, then awkward for a few seconds, followed by a hint of anger.

Just as she was about to get angry, Wen Yu smiled and said, “Uncle Fu, Auntie! Welcome back!”

Fu Chengque’s father was opening the door opposite, and her mother was standing beside him. Both turned around upon hearing the sound of the door opening and saw their daughter being caught red-handed in a mischievous act.

Fu Chengque’s mother walked over, patted her head, pulled her aside, and scolded her softly, “What are you doing, embarrassing yourself.”

Then she turned and smiled, “Welcome back, Xiao Yu, happy New Year.”

“Happy New Year, Uncle, Auntie! My family is preparing dinner, so you can come over after freshening up.”

“Alright, we’ll come over in a bit.”

Wen Yu smiled back.

As Fu Chengque turned to leave, she glared back fiercely. She moved her lips but made no sound, yet her mouth formed the words—

“You—did—it—on—purpose!”

Wen Yu grinned and nodded slightly.

Fu Chengque was furious on the spot.

But her anger dissipated once she stepped into the Wen family’s home.

The joy of the New Year was enough to dispel any lingering resentment, especially since Fu Chengque was only pretending. As soon as she entered, she saw the little decorations in the room. The Wen family had made some small embellishments, all done by Wen Yu. They hung some lanterns and put up some red decorations, creating a festive atmosphere.

“These decorations are so beautiful!” Fu Chengque’s mother pointed at the lanterns and praised.

Wen Yu’s mother happily added, “Xiao Yu did it. He even bought a pot of plum blossoms, and they suddenly bloomed these past few days.”

Everyone looked towards the potted landscape in the living room. On the plum tree, which resembled dry branches, clusters of yellow wax plum blossoms bloomed.

It was incredibly beautiful!

With the blooming of these plum blossoms, the room seemed to come to life, and the atmosphere became much warmer.

Fu Chengque exclaimed, “Wow,” and leaned over to take a look. After looking, she sniffed and exclaimed again, “It smells so good!” She took out her phone and started taking pictures.

After watching for a while, the two mothers turned and went into the kitchen together to prepare for the slightly special family dinner tonight.

Initially, Wen Yu’s father didn’t think much of it, but seeing the excitement of the Fu family over the wax plum blossoms, he also felt that the scene was quite rare. He said, “Old Fu, come, let’s have a few rounds under the plum tree?”

Mr. Fu raised his eyebrows, “It’s been a long time since I played, but I’m feeling a bit itchy now.”

“Haha, come on!”

The two fathers moved a small table next to the wax plum blossoms, brewed a pot of tea, set up an old chessboard, and focused on playing chess.

Fu Chengque took several sets of photos, browsing through them satisfactorily as she slowly walked over to sit on the sofa. As soon as her bottom touched the sofa, she couldn’t help but take a deep breath and closed her eyes in ecstasy.

“You can even smell the fragrance of plum blossoms here!”

The scent of the flowers was faint and elegant, refreshing the senses.

Fu Chengque felt relaxed, and she glanced sideways at Wen Yu, catching him staring at her unabashedly, straight and unreserved.

Just looking, without saying a word.

Her heart suddenly raced a bit faster.

In her mind, confusion arose, mingling with both embarrassment and anger. She was annoyed that Wen Yu was just staring at her without saying anything; he didn’t find this atmosphere a bit awkward?

After feeling a little numb for a while, the young girl remembered the photos she took in the morning.

She had promised to show him.

He probably couldn’t find where the birds were perched!

A sense of joy surged within her instantly. She quickly opened her photo album and found the picture.

Tilting her head, she smiled.

“President Wen, I took a photo this morning and wanted to show you!”

Seeing Fu Chengque’s smile, Wen Yu felt even more comfortable:

Xiao Qingmei, the feeling beside her was really nice!

He felt relaxed all over.

That sweet smile was delightful.

But although her smile at the moment was beautiful, it carried a hint of cunning, knowing that she had other intentions. Nevertheless, Wen Yu accepted, “Let me see.”

The phone was handed over, and Wen Yu took a look. Above the bushes, two birds stood on a short tree, their figures blurry, with one of them so blurred that it was hard to tell if it was a bird or just a shadow.

Wen Yu pinched his chin and looked for a while, muttering, “Your photography skills are really not good.”

Fu Chengque retorted angrily, “That’s because you didn’t see the key point!”

“What’s the key point?”

“Look closely!”

“The bird’s nest?”

“Yeah!” The girl’s eyes suddenly brightened, “You figured it out!”

Then, she extended her slender white finger, pointing at a certain spot on the screen, excitedly saying, “Here! There’s a bird’s nest here. I noticed it at a glance. It’s the home of these two little birds…”

Wen Yu nodded, his mind partly processing Fu Chengque’s words, while the other half remained fixed on her fair and delicate fingers.

Indeed, her fingers were beautiful too, long, fair, with clean nail beds, exuding a translucent texture, resembling a kind of sheep tallow jade.

Fu Chengque, pleased with herself, began to share what she had heard and seen:

“Let me tell you, I met a child on the way, crying hard on the stairs… Little monk went over to take a look, turns out the child wanted his broom… Haha… Then… In the end, everyone watched the child and the little monk sweeping together, haha, isn’t it fun?”

“Very fun!”

“Right?”

“Anything else?”

“Plenty!”

Fu Chengque’s smile grew even broader, like the wax plum blossoms in the living room, blossoming freely.

She rummaged in her pocket for a while, pulled out a reddish-orange circular leaf, twirled it by the stem, and proudly displayed it.

“Isn’t it beautiful?”

“Beautiful, this leaf…”

“Do you recognize this leaf?”

“It’s the leaf of the Chinese pistachio tree, quite common.”

“Oh…” The girl lowered her eyes, feeling a bit disappointed.

She had thought that the leaf she found was very special, very unique. If it was just an ordinary leaf from an ordinary tree, what was there to share?

Just as she was unsure how to proceed, Wen Yu spoke up:

“But, the color of this leaf is very vibrant, the red is very uniform, and the leaf shape is uncommon, usually not this shape.”

“Really?!”

“Of course, you’re lucky.”

“Hehehe…”

She lifted the leaf slightly, holding it up to the light.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”

Wen Yu nodded, smiling, “Very beautiful.”
