My Childhood Sweetheart Gradually Puffed Up CH.140

Chapter 140: Have you ever dated Qiao’er?

On the evening when Teacher Chen’s home visit ended, the parents of Wen and Fu’s families understood the spirit of the homeroom teacher and prepared to have a chat with their own children.

These parents didn’t say it explicitly, but they could also sense quite a bit.

At the Fu residence.

After Mr. and Mrs. Fu discussed their respective thoughts, they decided that Mrs. Fu would go and talk to her daughter.

Mrs. Fu felt complicated. She took some milk from the refrigerator, heated it up, and knocked on her daughter’s bedroom door with the cup in hand.

“Qiao’er, are you asleep?”

“Huh? Mom? I’m not asleep. What’s up?”

“I’ve come to have a chat with you.”

With a click, the door opened, and Fu Chengque, wearing pajamas, moved aside. “Hey, sure!”

Mrs. Fu entered the bedroom, placed the milk on the desk, and said, “I’ve warmed up some milk; drink it quickly.” Then she noticed the neatly made bed and said sternly, “Wearing so little and wandering around outside the blanket, what if you catch a cold!”

Fu Chengque hurried over to grab the milk, took a big gulp, and exclaimed, “It’s fine, Mom. Don’t you feel it? It’s getting warmer now!”

“Don’t ‘warm’ me.” Mrs. Fu clicked her tongue, then sat on the edge of the bed, looking around the room with a nostalgic expression.

“I always feel like you’re still a child. But in fact, you’ve grown up all of a sudden. You’re a big kid now.”

“I’m not that big; I’m not even an adult yet.”

“You’ll be an adult next year!”

“That’s not really big. Besides, no matter how old I am, I’m still Mom’s daughter.”

Mrs. Fu looked at her daughter’s playful expression and chuckled softly. She reached out and patted her cheek, asking softly, “Qiao’er, what kind of university do you want to attend in the future?”

Fu Chengque sat on the chair in front of the desk, rocking the chair with her milk in hand, her eyes staring at the ceiling. “I haven’t thought about it…”

“You used to say you wanted to be an actor, a star. Do you still want that now?”

Fu Chengque hesitated for a moment, then said after a while, “I don’t seem to have any ideas now. Acting, being a star, it all seems ordinary. They’re not big ambitions!”

“What are you talking about…” Mrs. Fu shook her head, then asked again, “Is there anything Mom and Dad can help you with in your studies?”

The girl shook her head.

Mrs. Fu nodded and changed the subject, “The teacher praised you for your recent progress in studies. As long as you can perform steadily in the university entrance examination, you can definitely get into a prestigious university. Dad and Mom are really happy to hear that. My daughter is sensible and hardworking. I believe you’ll have no problem with the university entrance examination!” As she spoke, she smiled.

Fu Chengque also chuckled happily.

“But the teacher also said that this last half of the semester is the most important. You can’t be distracted by other things. You have to focus all your attention on your studies…”

“I know, Mom!”

“What do you know, you silly child,” Mrs. Fu scolded, “You’re a big kid now, and you have your own thoughts about everything. But you need to understand that the most important thing in your current stage of life is to study hard, do well in the university entrance examination, and nothing else matters as much.”

“Mmhm!” Fu Chengque nodded vigorously.

Mrs. Fu got up, pulled Fu Chengque from the chair to sit beside her, and said:

“Qiao’er, are you still getting along well with your classmates in the class?”

“Of course! Xiao Gua and the others get along well with me. The classmates who came to play before are all good friends!”

“And your relationship with Wen Yu is still good lately, right?”

“Huh? Uh… yeah…”

“That’s good. When you go to university, you’ll meet even more different people and make more new friends.” Mrs. Fu paused, reached out to tuck her daughter’s hair behind her ear, and said, “Life is like a journey, with different scenery at every turn. Only by keeping the direction forward can you avoid getting lost and see even more beautiful scenery. There’s no need to rush in choosing your future, but once you’ve made a decision, don’t regret it. Whatever happens, Mom will always support you.”

The girl blinked, her eyes seeming to understand.

After Mrs. Fu finished speaking, she paused, looked into her daughter’s eyes, thought for a moment, and couldn’t help adding, “Right now, you need to focus on the university entrance examination to enter a better stage of life. You can put aside other thoughts for now; there’s time to consider those things slowly.”

“It’s good to progress together with friends, but you also need to be careful not to spread yourself too thin on these matters. Those who share the same direction will naturally continue together in the future, understand?”

“Mmhm, I’ll remember, Mom.”

The serious conversation ended here. Mrs. Fu then talked to her daughter about some trivial matters, and as the night deepened, strange chirps suddenly sounded outside. Mrs. Fu, upon hearing this, looked down at the cup of milk in her daughter’s hand and complained, “You’ve just been talking; the milk has gotten cold.”

Fu Chengque looked and exclaimed, then raised her hand to drink.

Mrs. Fu hurriedly stopped her, saying, “What are you drinking? It’s already cold.”

Taking the cup, she said, “Go to bed early,” and left the bedroom.

At the door of the bedroom, Mrs. Fu recalled her conversation with her daughter just now, smiled gently, looked down at the half cup of milk in her hand, and then drank it up…

A similar situation occurred in the Wen family.

But with slight differences.

Wen Yu watched as his dad brought a small table from the living room to his bedroom, then made two trips to get a chessboard and a teapot, feeling quite puzzled.

“Dad, what are you doing?”

“Come on, son, let’s play another round.”

“Dad, it’s almost 11 o’clock… You’re calling me to play chess and drink tea again. This chess game is not just about chess, right?” Wen Yu walked over and stopped his father’s hand from placing the chess piece, and said directly, “If you have something to say, just say it. I can understand. Did Mr. Chen talk to you this afternoon? Is he asking you to keep an eye on me and prevent me from dating early?”

Mr. Wen was stunned for a moment, then threw the “general” in his hand onto the center of the chessboard, pretending to be dejected, “No wonder your mom says our son is smarter and more sensible than I am now…”

The old father clicked his tongue, feeling a bit disappointed.

His son’s mind was getting agile now, making him feel a bit dull as a father.

It was better when he was young, holding him and calling him “Dad”, and then asking this and that.

Seeing the disappointed expression on his old father’s face, Wen Yu laughed, “Haha, it’s just a small matter. I’m doing well in my studies now, and the teacher is worried about other things affecting me.”

“Yes, your homeroom teacher did mention that.”

Mr. Wen touched his sparse beard and suddenly leaned forward, asking, “Son, Dad has something to ask you.”

“Go ahead.”

“Have you ever dated Qiao’er?”

That was really sudden.

Wen Yu pondered for a moment and asked back, “Dad, how far do you want my relationship with Fu Chengque to go?”

Mr. Wen was stunned.

Oh!

What’s going on?

The kid was really slick. Could he really ask his dad that kind of question?

Mr. Wen suddenly felt a little choked up, opened and closed his mouth several times without saying anything, and finally pretended to be angry, waving his sleeve, “I don’t understand the affairs of you young people, I just wanted to ask more. But…”

He became serious, staring into his son’s eyes, “Xiao Yu, let me tell you something as a man. You have to understand where a person’s value lies. You have to attract others with your charm, and not become an empty person. Do you know what charm is?”

Wen Yu didn’t move, just stared at his father.

The old father continued, “Are you young? No, men also get old. When men are your father’s age, they rely only on the accumulation from their youth. So, you must seize the time to improve yourself, study hard, get into a good university, and pursue your own career. In the future, speak responsibly, do responsible things, and become a responsible person. That’s what it means to be a man, understand?”

Wen Yu nodded, “Dad means I should focus on my studies and get into a good university next.”

“That’s right!”

“Okay, I understand some things now. Please continue.”

“I’m done,” Mr. Wen stared with his eyes.

“…”

“Alright… I’ve noted it all down,” Father Wen nodded, quite satisfied.

Just as he was pondering what to say next, suddenly his son spoke up again, “Dad, what do you think of Chengque?”

“…”

“Dad’s tired, go to sleep!”
