My Wife Pretends To Be Poor Every Day Ch.8

In the end, Yu Siling came up with a plan. She quietly followed behind some aunties and copied their haggling techniques, which allowed her to get a few extra scallions and garlic sprouts.

Yu Siling proudly showed off her results, “See, how’s that?”

Li Yueyun clapped softly, “Impressive, impressive. As expected of Lingling.”

“Of course!”

Yu Siling lifted her chin proudly, glanced at the time, and hurriedly urged, “Oh, it’s getting late. You should hurry to work. I don’t have class this morning, so you don’t need to take me.”

“Alright, then I won’t go upstairs. Be careful when you go to school this afternoon.”

“No problem.” Yu Siling stood on her tiptoes and watched as Li Yueyun rode her bike into the distance. Then she immediately ran home, put the groceries in the small fridge, and dashed out the door in the opposite direction. She hailed a taxi, “Driver, to New Oriental.”

It was time to learn some real skills!

New Oriental was located on the outskirts of the university town, right across from Lanxiang.

Yesterday, she had posted on the university town forum, offering to pay a high price to attend a class at New Oriental. Soon, a student took the offer.

She waited at the entrance for a while before a girl in red approached her and gave the code: “Zero One Zero One, I’m Zero Zero Three. What’s our code?”

Yu Siling, looking at the girl who was fully covered with a hat and mask, swallowed and replied, “Zero Zero Three, I’m Zero One Zero One. Our code is—Learn cooking, come to New Oriental.”

“Bingo.” The girl took off her sunglasses, pulled out a pair of high-prescription glasses from her bag, and squinted. “Wow! Aren’t you that person?”

“Xiao Fang!” Yu Siling looked at her excitedly, pulling her into a spin. “Xiao Fang, is it really you?”

“I’ve told you, my name isn’t Xiao Fang. It’s Chu Yuxun.” Chu Yuxun clicked her tongue and spun Yu Siling back. “I don’t even know your name yet.”

“I’m Yu Siling.”

“Got it.” Chu Yuxun took out her phone and opened the payment code. “Pay the deposit first, and the rest after the class.”

“Alright.” After scanning and paying, Yu Siling followed her into New Oriental, curious. “Aren’t you a student at Lanxiang? How did you become a student at New Oriental too?”

“I’m pursuing a double degree.” Chu Yuxun adjusted her glasses, and the sunlight reflected off her honest face, a flash of wisdom gleaming through the lenses. “The world of top students is beyond your understanding.”

“My apologies, my apologies.” Yu Siling was in awe.

Chu Yuxun led her sneakily to the classroom door, gave her a once-over, and plopped a hat on her head, then put on a pair of bat-shaped sunglasses. She clicked her tongue, “What a waste of such a pretty face if you can’t even cook. You need to disguise yourself, or with your looks, people will figure out you’re not a student here as soon as class is over.”

“Xiao Fang, you’re so clever.” Yu Siling gave her a thumbs-up.

Chu Yuxun glared at Yu Siling, pulled her sleeve, and led her inside, whispering, “Since you’re a beginner, I’ve arranged a beginner’s class for you. This is a class for newbies, so you’re all on the same level. You’ll learn faster.”

“What level are you at?” Yu Siling asked quietly.

“Chef God level.”

Yu Siling entered the classroom and realized it was actually a kitchen. Each person had a variety of seasonings and a large wok in front of them.

Chu Yuxun led her to the corner seat, shoved her inside, and the other students couldn’t help but glance over, their eyes landing on the oddly dressed Yu Siling.

Chu Yuxun stood with her hands on her hips, blocking their view. “What are you looking at? Can’t she wear sunglasses? My little sister just went through a breakup last night, cried her eyes out. What if the smoke irritates her eyes?”

The classmates cast sympathetic glances and turned their attention to the dark, heavy wok.

Not long after, the teacher entered to begin the lesson.

Yu Siling mustered all her focus, holding her breath to listen intently to the teacher’s instructions. To her surprise, after a lengthy lecture, the essence of the lesson boiled down to just two words: “tossing the wok.”

After demonstrating once, the teacher let the students practice freely.

“How do you toss it?” Yu Siling timidly asked Chu Yuxun.

Chu Yuxun gripped the wok’s handle with one hand and gave it a vigorous shake: “So easy.”

But it was anything but simple!

Yu Siling thought to herself, yet her body obediently followed suit.

She was determined to learn, all for the sake of cooking delicious meals for her wife!

After half an hour of relentless tossing, the class finally ended.

The next class was also about tossing the wok! However, this time the teacher provided individual guidance, and Yu Siling realized that what she had been doing in the previous class wasn’t tossing the wok—it was more like smashing it.

So, with tears in her eyes, she practiced for another entire class.

After class, Chu Yuxun opened her payment QR code: “Come on, the final payment.”

Yu Siling’s hands trembled as she completed the payment, tears streaming down her face.

Chu Yuxun was startled: “What’s wrong? Can’t even afford the final ten yuan?”

“No, it’s just that I remembered something really sad,” Yu Siling said, her eyes welling up.

Her hands were so sore; she probably wouldn’t be able to cuddle with her wife tonight. QAQ

“Don’t cry,” Chu Yuxun said, glancing around before grabbing Yu Siling’s arm and pulling her toward the rooftop. Once there, she leaned against the wall, placed her hands on the ground, and executed a perfect handstand. “If you want to cry, just do a handstand like me. That way, the tears won’t fall from your eyes!”

Yu Siling was deeply moved: “Thank you, but you’re wearing a skirt.”

“Huh? Oh, sorry. No wonder I felt a bit of a breeze,” Chu Yuxun said nonchalantly, standing up and patting her bottom. “No big deal, we’re all girls here, and it’s just the two of us.”

Yu Siling pursed her lips: “But I like girls.”

“Are you sure?” Chu Yuxun gave her a skeptical look.

“Yes, very sure.”

After receiving a confirming glance, Chu Yuxun leaped three feet away, shielding her chest with her hands: “Please keep your distance. My charm is too overwhelming; I might intimidate you.”

Yu Siling burst out laughing: “Relax, I have a girlfriend.”

“Really?”

“Yes, really.”

“Alright then,” Chu Yuxun moved closer again, curious. “Is your girlfriend the woman who dropped you off at school the other day?”

“Yes, that’s her.”

Chu Yuxun thought about the beautiful sister on the bicycle and mused: “You two seem really well-matched.”

Yu Siling looked at her in surprise, a hint of joy in her eyes. This was the first time someone had commented on their compatibility without first asking about Li Yueyun’s family background.

“Really?”

“Yeah, I can feel it,” Chu Yuxun leaned against the wall, looking up at her. The girl was slender and graceful, with delicate features and a radiant smile, clearly head over heels in love.

The perpetually single Chu Yuxun suddenly grew curious: “How did you two meet?”

For some reason, Yu Siling didn’t feel the urge to share everything with Tao Shuqin and her classmates, but with this new friend she’d only known for a few days, she felt a stronger desire to open up.

She sat down beside Chu Yuxun and looked up at the drifting clouds: “The day we met, the weather was… oh, sorry, I can’t remember what the weather was like. Let me start over. Her name is Li Yueyun…”

Li Yueyun suddenly sneezed.

Everyone in the meeting room turned to look at her.

“Sorry, let’s continue,” Li Yueyun apologized with a smile and proceeded to share her thoughts. “The ‘Spider Web’ project is quite challenging and requires extensive discussion before decisions can be made.”

The meeting lasted until noon, and only then did everyone agree on the plan. After assigning tasks, Li Yueyun returned to her office for lunch.

The lunch was ordered by the front desk. As she ate, she opened a drawing software and stared at the lines for a while. Suddenly, a shadow loomed over her.

She looked up to see Si Yutong sneaking up on her desk.

“What’s up?”

“Master, you, who’s never late, was five minutes late this morning,” Si Yutong smirked mischievously. “Was it because of traffic? Oh, wait, you ride a bike to work. How could you get stuck in traffic?”

Hearing this, Li Yueyun propped her forehead with one hand, awkwardly asking: “What are people saying outside?”

For the past few days, she had been dropping Yu Siling off at school, parking her bike near Lanxiang and then taking a taxi to the office. That route had little traffic, so she could manage her time well.

But today, without needing to drop anyone off, she encountered the morning rush hour in the city center. Taking a taxi was out of the question, so she pedaled faster. In the end, she parked her bike right in front of all the employees, locking it in one smooth motion.

When she entered the office, she was sweating, smelling faintly of seafood from the market, and had two chicken feathers sticking out of the back pocket of her jeans.

The employees: “…”

Is this still the refined and elegant princess they knew?

“They suspect your family has gone bankrupt,” Si Yutong chuckled. “Some are even speculating that you’re caught up in some wealthy family drama, kicked out by Old Master Li. And of course, there are the more outrageous theories, like you being a time traveler—a Cinderella who crossed into the body of a rich heiress. That one’s particularly popular.”

Li Yueyun: “…”

Li Yueyun pressed: “What else do they know?”

The little spy Si Yutong sat down across from her, amused: “Master, do you really think we’re blind? These past few days, you’ve been taking empty bottles, old magazines, and even the office’s pothos plants home. Does that sound like something a normal rich heiress would do?”

Li Yueyun sighed and continued to rub her forehead, “I have no choice, it’s just convenient. Otherwise, would I go directly to the recycling station to buy some and carry it home… Hmm, that’s actually a good idea.”

“…” Si Yutong knocked on the table, “Is that the point now? I’m asking you, how long do you plan to play this ‘dress up game’?”

Li Yueyun was silent for a moment, then let out a long sigh, “I haven’t figured out how to tell her yet. What if she gets angry and wants to break up with me?”

“Who would refuse to date a rich person?” Si Yutong asked incredulously.

“Lingling would,” Li Yueyun said firmly.

Si Yutong was becoming more and more curious and couldn’t help but ask again, “Are you sure she really doesn’t like rich people?”

“Yes, she told me herself,” Li Yueyun said, “The first time we met, she told me that.”

“You talked about that the first time you met?”

“Yes.”

Si Yutong carefully recalled, “I’m with you all the time, how come I don’t remember when you met her?”

Hearing this, Li Yueyun leaned back, stretched, and glanced out the floor-to-ceiling window where clouds were gathering and the sunlight was warm.

“It was when the government project just started construction. I went to the site and met Lingling on my way back.”

As she spoke, her thoughts drifted back to more than half a year ago, “The weather that day was just like today… Hmm? Was it the same?”

“I forgot, but it’s not important.”

“What’s important is that we met that day!”
