Grab The Heroine and Run Away Ch. 99

Of course, Xu Heran was just joking with Xu Jiamu. She put down her phone and briefly talked to Xin Nuo.

“Sure.” Xin Nuo told Xu Heran, “In any case, let’s keep our distance from them.”

“You’re the one who wants to stay away from these unscrupulous people.” Xu Heran pondered for a moment, “Why not come to Beijing with me for classes? Do you have any acting roles this year?”

Xin Nuo smiled, “Of course, I’d love to accompany you, but I need Sister Cui’s approval as well.”

Speaking of Sister Cui, Xu Heran sighed, “Alright.”

Xin Nuo, who played Assassin Ah Qing in 《Rustling in the Wind》, won the Golden Deer Award for Best Supporting Actress and Best Newcomer. Many directors began to pay attention to this female star who emerged from Universal Entertainment’s girl group. Her performances in this year’s movie Moonlight on Willow Twig and TV drama Deep Palace were equally impressive. To focus on just the film, she was the one who performed the best and had the most outstanding acting in the series.

At her age, possessing such exquisite acting skills, many in the film industry secretly marveled. Xin Nuo might become a leading figure of the new generation.

In Province D, at a director’s home, a man with slightly white hair took a drag of his cigarette and said to the screenwriter, “Look again. The young girl is too handsome, not suitable.”

“Don’t say that. I think the assassin in 《Rustling in the Wind》 is quite good. Those eyes are truly captivating,” the screenwriter smoked alongside him. “Give it a try.”

“What if the young girl isn’t willing to make herself look ugly?”

“Why are you being so troublesome? Just see if she’s willing to do your movie first!” The screenwriter extinguished his cigarette. “Here’s the plan. I’ll contact Universal first. If there’s a chance to discuss, the investment might already be secured.”

“The investment isn’t urgent. I can just fund it myself if needed,” the director said. “Go ahead and ask.”

Although the director said this, his hands excitedly rubbed together. Seeing the screenwriter not moving, he urged, “Hurry up and go!”

“Tsk… I didn’t say I’m going right now. Do you realize what time it is?” the screenwriter said exasperatedly.

“And you accuse me of being troublesome. Looks like the real troublemaker is you!” The screenwriter picked up the phone, “Fine, I’ll have Li You help me with this.”

In a forest villa, Xin Nuo sat on the living room sofa, chatting with everyone while eating fruit. She had a tablet nearby, and Xu Heran’s face occasionally appeared on the screen.

“I’m really dying of laughter. Mu Yeyan, seriously, such a big actor, how old is he, playing around with a girl in her twenties like this? He’s been publicly criticized by the authorities, right?” Jiang Qiong excitedly shared the latest gossip with everyone.

“What?” Xu Heran had just sat down. “Who got criticized?”

“Emperor Mu,” Xin Nuo said, picking up a piece of apple.

“Ah—” Xu Jiamu’s mouth fell open.

Xin Nuo then moved the apple piece towards Xu Heran and stuffed it into her own mouth. “Crunch, crunch,” she bit, “It’s so sweet.”

“I’ve written a breakup song recently,” Jian Yueyin, lying on the couch, said lazily. “Ranran hasn’t released a new song in so long. Do you want to sing it?”

“No!” Xu Heran vehemently refused.

“Pearl is releasing a new album in January,” Xin Nuo said.

“Oh~” Everyone nodded.

“Tell us what’s going on,” Xu Heran lowered her head and asked.

“I’ll explain!” Jiang Qiong immediately drove the toy car she had snatched from Director Liu’s program crew over. “Xu Pearl! Mu Yeyan is supposed to be on a variety show at Dream Entertainment, where he’s the host. However, that show’s backed by Xing Corporation. Recently, Xing has been retracting its investments, cutting down on promotions. They’re now looking for external investors for the show again.”

“But you see, the ratings for this variety show have always been mediocre. Nobody wants to be a scapegoat! Mu Yeyan is obviously anxious about it. He doesn’t even hide it on the show. To attract more viewership, he often does all sorts of messy things, just like the episode that aired yesterday! They invited the ‘famous’ fruit group!”

Jiang Qiong raised her hand and made an ‘eight’ sign towards Xu Heran, “Everyone knows the style of the fruit group, you know.”

“Anyway, it’s a group of more than ten young girls who acted ambiguously with Mu Yeyan on the show, like a talent competition. Their team’s leader, Main C Peach, and another one who’s Grape or maybe Orange, they posed seductively during games, asking Mu Yeyan if he wanted to eat peach or wanted to eat…” Jiang Qiong’s face twisted. “The key is that Mu Yeyan played along! He said something like he wants to eat peach first and then grape. The other girls even cheered him on, dear God!”

“Anyway, the impact is really bad.”

Xin Nuo glanced at the fruit plate, pursed her lips, and put down the fork in her hand.

“Ugh—”

“And then today, it became a hot topic, criticized for correction. I guess this show is done~” Jiang Qiong pulled Xin Nuo’s fruit plate over and picked up her own fork.

“You can still eat,” Haya raised her hand, pinched Jiang Qiong’s belly, “Gaining ten pounds!”

“Let me tell you all, I’m tormented by the Lius every week, running up and down. Now, the ‘woof woof’ isn’t the same as before!” Jiang Qiong proudly lifted her shirt, “Look, I even have two abs now!”

Xu Heran laughed, “The top one and the bottom one, it’s just the fat squeezed into one.”

“Ugh!” Jiang Qiong shoved a piece of apple into her mouth, lifting her chin, “You’re just jealous of me!”

Xu Heran and Haya immediately lifted their shirts, revealing their well-defined muscles. Xin Nuo didn’t lift her shirt but ran her hand smoothly over her abdomen, which was toned and smooth. Song Fenghua lifted her long leg, and Laurel rolled up her sleeves, flexing their muscles.

Jiang Qiong: “…”

“Hmph, it’s just like that.”

Everyone’s gaze gradually fell on Jian Yueyin, lying on the couch.

Jian Yueyin: “Hmm.”

“Speaking of which…” Haya leaned forward, carefully observing Jian Yueyin’s face.

“Captain eats and sleeps, sleeps and eats, gained a circle compared to before,” Laurel said without reservation.

Jian Yueyin said calmly, “Writing songs requires brainpower, and brainpower exercise is still exercise.”

Jiang Qiong giggled, “Anyway, you’re at home all day. I’ll have Sister Cui add you to 《As You Wish》 Consider it a weight loss plan.”

“Save me, I’m so tired.” Jian Yueyin lay flat.

Song Fenghua couldn’t believe it, “Tired?”

“Tired even lying down,” Jian Yueyin smiled.

Everyone: “…”

Jian Yueyin thought about her recent decadent days and sighed, “Okay, then I’ll find something to do.”

“Who wants to do chores?” Cui Qi’s voice came.

Jiang Qiong whispered, “Sister Cui’s ears are sharp at this time!”

Everyone felt sympathetic and nodded.

“Never mind, we were talking about losing weight,” Jian Yueyin smiled.

Cui Qi walked in holding something and heard her words, immediately saying, “Lose weight? Knock you all thin, no permission for weight loss—huh?”

Her gaze fell on Jian Yueyin, who was discreetly sucking in her stomach.

“Hmm?”

“I was wrong, I’ll start losing weight tomorrow!” Jian Yueyin laughed.

“It’s fine, this is actually good for you. You were too skinny before. You didn’t like eating back then,” Sister Cui said. “Think of it this way, Sister Cui hasn’t treated you unfairly.”

“That’s true.”

“Now it’s Sister Yueyin looking for food,” Laurel chimed in.

Jian Yueyin immediately told Cui Qi, “Sis, Flower Song is recorded and done. She’s not returning to school to study, I’m reporting her.”

The gaze of Empress Hua fell discreetly on Jian Yueyin. She raised her hand and poked Jian Yueyin’s belly.

Seeing that the atmosphere in the living room was about to become cheerful and lively, Cui Qi immediately raised her hand and said, “Hold on, stop that. Wait until I leave before you start.”

Cui Qi handed stacks of sorted scripts to Xin Nuo and Song Fenghua. “See if there’s anything you like. It’s time to work.”

Song Fenghua looked at the script that was three times thicker than Xin Nuo’s and asked in surprise, “Is this a mistake?”

“No mistake,” Cui Qi smiled slyly. “Nuo Nuo, you have two scripts in total. One is Yuan’s ‘Endless Sky,’ and the other is…”

“Mu’s ‘Distant Mountain,'” Cui Qi’s heart raced with excitement. “Do you want to give it a try?”

On the sofa, Xin Nuo, who had been lying comfortably, had a change in expression. “Mu? Director Mu? Mu Hengzhi?”

“Distant Mountain…”

It was actually “Distant Mountain”?

Xin Nuo’s heart tightened suddenly, as if held tightly in a grip, a mixture of wanting to laugh and excitement. She raised her hand, not even bothering to look, and directly took out the thinner script among the two. The brown cover had Distant Mountain handwritten on it, with bold and powerful strokes—familiar handwriting, the handwriting of her mentor.

“Nuo Nuo is going to act in a movie again?” Xu Heran’s voice came from the tablet.

Cui Qi jumped in surprise. “Ranran is here too.”

“I’ve been here all along! I’ve been looking at you so much!” Xu Heran’s voice rang out loudly. “I’m not just the precious little pearl in Sister Cui’s heart anymore.”

Cui Qi replied nonchalantly, “Yes, yes.”

“Nuo Nuo, do you want to act?” Xu Heran asked.

Xin Nuo’s hand caressed the cover of the script and she nodded firmly, “I want to.”

It was this movie that she spent two years working with Director Mu on. Just for her acting, she was honed by the Mu couple for eight months. Without Director Mu and his wife, there wouldn’t be the present Xin Nuo.

“Distant Mountain,” the film that earned her a Golden Cup, had appeared before her eyes so soon.

Back then, because of this film, Director Mu sold his house and car, and the couple lived with her in a simple guesthouse for two years. Yet, after completing the film, it was held back for three more years before it was released.

Cui Qi chuckled, “You really like Director Mu’s films that much?”

Xin Nuo smiled, “I really do.”

“Huh?” Xu Heran immediately chimed in, “Please say it properly.”

“Repeat after me, I really, really like Director Mu’s films.”

“Get lost,” Xin Nuo immediately reached out her hand and tapped Xu Heran’s forehead through the screen.

Looking at these two, Cui Qi sighed inwardly, but couldn’t help but laugh.

“But Mu said that this film will be tough. You know his style—his films can take a year or more to shoot from start to finish. It’s not like before, where they could be short, lasting two to three months, or long, lasting four to five months. And before shooting, Mu said he’ll need to work on the script with you. If the collaboration doesn’t go smoothly, it might not work out.”

Xin Nuo nodded firmly, “No problem.”

“There’s a problem!” Xu Heran interjected, “And what about me?”

Xu Heran widened her eyes, “You have a family, please be mindful!”

In front of everyone, Xin Nuo’s face immediately turned red. Her fingers trembled as she whispered, “You’re not allowed to speak.”

Xu Heran justified herself, “I’m about to cry.”

“Cry!” Jiang Qiong immediately exclaimed.

“Cry louder!” Haya took out her phone, “Do you want me to record it for you?”

Xu Heran clutched her chest, slumped down weakly, and murmured, “No, you all aren’t my dear teammates. They wouldn’t treat me like this. Who are you? What have you done to my friends!”

“We are!” Laurel followed by raising her phone.

Song Fenghua chuckled softly, “Good acting.”

“After all, I learned from you,” Cui Qi waved her hand. “Although Director Mu’s films are few in number and some are critically acclaimed but not commercially successful, each one is a masterpiece. He managed to find us, and our colleagues in the film and television department were all pleasantly surprised.”

Cui Qi sincerely said to Xin Nuo, “This is a great opportunity.”

Xin Nuo nodded, holding onto the script tightly. “I understand, I’ll do it!”

“Hey?” Xu Heran tilted her head and crazily pointed at herself, “Isn’t anyone concerned about the poor little pearl?”

Song Fenghua immediately advised her, “Final exams are coming up, focus on your studies.”

Next to her, Laurel silently covered her heart.

Xu Heran, “… Fenghua, you’ve changed.”

Song Fenghua lowered her gaze and smiled softly.

Haya chimed in, “Aren’t you going to prepare your thesis next year? You’re studying so hard, can you become an outstanding graduate?”

“What’s your GPA? Did you get a scholarship?” Jiang Qiong asked.

“But I got a scholarship to treat you all to a meal during the summer vacation!” Xu Heran said loudly.

Jiang Qiong shouted even louder, “Bullshit, didn’t you donate your scholarship to impoverished mountain areas?”

“I treated you to a meal!”

“You did not!”

“Did too!”

“Was it tasty?”

“Very tasty!”

Xu Heran snorted coldly.

“Let’s settle it during the winter break,” Jiang Qiong rubbed her hands together.

Xu Heran immediately responded, “Then you send Nuo Nuo over by mail, and I’ll treat you to a meal every day.”

Jiang Qiong sneakily looked at Xin Nuo, and the girl raised an eyebrow at her.

“Uh…” Jiang Qiong plopped down, “I ate Nuo Nuo’s apple, I can’t do this!”

Xin Nuo laughed and said, “Don’t tease. I promise you’ll see me very soon, okay?”

How soon is “very soon”?

Xu Heran thought gloomily.

The next afternoon, Xu Heran was attentively sitting in the classroom, listening to the sounds from the corridor outside. She perked up and saw a red figure “whoosh” by.

A certain photographer sister she had met during 《Starlight Girls》 waved at her with a smile. Another pink figure slowly approached, standing by the window, raising her hand and pointing to the podium, speaking silently.

“Listen well in class.”

Xu Heran pinched her face and blinked in pain.

…That was, really fast.

The author has something to say:

Xu Heran: Awesome!
