I Obviously Just Want to be a Minor Character CH.3

Chapter 3: The Path of the Sword God of Ten Li Slope

At the Demon-Hunting Academy, boys dormitory.

Su Ming, Lei Hao, and Ye Bai returned to the dormitory. They immediately went to take a shower and got on their asses. It didn’t take long before they all laid on their beds and started to snore.

Su Ming also laid down onto his bed and closed his eyes. At first glance, it looked like he had fallen asleep, but in truth, he was browsing through the interface in his mind.

This wasn’t something Su Ming had imagined, nor was it an illusion within his mind.

As a transmigrator, even if he had only crossed over to a parallel world and didn’t know if he had replaced himself in this world or if his consciousness in this world had awakened the memories of his alternate self from the other world, Su Ming still received the golden finger he had.

His golden finger was simple: interface.

The interface was very simple. At a glance, it looked like some sort of game catalogue. Not only were there goods, but there were also prices marked below them.

However, the goods provided in this market weren’t diverse or had any variety. There were only a few packages.

Yes, just a few packages.

“I completed another C-class mission today. I should have enough chips to open a package now.”

As Su Ming thought this, his attention shifted to the bottom corner of the shopping interface.

On either side of the bottom corner were two small icons.

The icon on the left was a backpack.

As the name implied, it was a backpack that could be used to store Su Ming’s belongings. As long as the item wasn’t alive and there was enough space in the backpack, any item could be stored within it.

The icon on the right was a diamond-shaped crystal.

To the right of the crystal was a line of numbers: “1000.”

“I’ve saved up to a thousand chips.”

Su Ming’s mood became a bit ecstatic.

These chips were the only form of currency that the market recognized.

Only by using these chips could Su Ming purchase the corresponding packages.

Within those packages were three to five items that would be drawn at random.

None of these items were ordinary. The worst would be extraordinary-quality materials, and there would never be anything that was common or average.

If Su Ming was extremely lucky and drew a rare and super-rare item from one of these packages, he would have an opportunity to compete for the top of the world.

Therefore, after coming to this world a year ago and learning of the golden finger’s effects, Su Ming had made his decision.

“I’ll quietly save up chips and open them. I won’t step out into the front until I have the strength to ensure my own safety in any crisis.”

This was a decision that Su Ming had made after learning how dangerous this world was and how dangerous it would be to show off too much, which would result in him being given even more dangerous missions and battles.

However, before the golden finger appeared, Su Ming hadn’t dared to make such a decision.

The reason was very simple.

Just as Lei Hao and Ye Bai had said, it wasn’t a bad thing to lurk and grow in secret. The scary thing was that you might never reach the point where you could stand out from the crowd.

How could you be sure that your strength would always increase, could you even be sure that your talent would be strong enough?

Furthermore, if you wanted to improve your strength, didn’t you need someone to guide you?

What if you didn’t have any resources?

What if you didn’t have any connections?

If you lurked without any support, could you really develop?

It wasn’t realistic at all.

In this dangerous world, if you wanted to avoid becoming a blood meal by a spirit demon then dying a sudden death, or if you wanted to protect the people around you, then you could only climb higher and higher, and do your best to show your worth to the higher ups so that they would be willing to invest in you.

Only then could you obtain resources and guidance, allowing you to become stronger faster.

This was everyone’s consensus.

Unless you were willing to accept your current situation and accept that you might die in some disaster caused by a spirit demon at any time.

Otherwise, you could only climb higher.

Su Ming had also thought this way until the appearance of this golden finger.

“As long as I have enough chips, I can open all kinds of rare items from countless packages.”

“High-level spirit demon bloodline.”

“High-level spiritual techniques.”

“Even high-level weapons, high-level materials, and high-level alchemy medicine.”

“The resources others dream of having will all be mine sooner or later.”

Only after realising this did Su Ming officially begin his journey to become the Sword God of Ten Li Slope.

To others, Su Ming was just an ordinary student in the Academy. His grades were average. While he couldn’t be said to have no merits, he also had no outstanding features.

This was the image Su Ming had carefully maintained.

In secret, Su Ming had also been quietly gathering chips.

The method of obtaining chips was simple: exchange other items for them at the market.

Naturally, ordinary items were not enough. Only extraordinary items from the Spiritual Demon Prison would do, including but not limited to materials dropped by spirit demons.

This year, Su Ming had been quietly maintaining his image while hiding his own extraordinariness, not allowing himself to be pushed to the forefront of the situation and face danger, while doing multiple tasks and extracting some extra income to exchange for chips.

Just like today, Su Ming, Lei Hao, and Ye Bai’s team had obtained the wings of a screaming demon and delivered them to the academy. However screaming demons didn’t just drop a pair of wings.

There were so many materials on a spirit demon. Would Su Ming really burn it to ashes?

That was impossible.

When Su Ming burned the screaming demon with [Spiral Fire], he had actually secretly taken the rest of the materials from the demon’s body and tossed them into the market to exchange for chips.

“It’s time for a happy unboxing.”

Su Ming didn’t hesitate and spent all one thousand chips in an instant.

“Clunk.”

As the number on the chip decreased from 1,000 to 0, a large package popped up from the shopping interface and fell into Su Ming’s backpack.

The price of the package was exactly a thousand chips.

Su Ming immediately sank his consciousness into his backpack and opened it, then took out the package.

“Hope I have some good luck today.”

Su Ming’s excited mood started to become anxious.

Although he had already opened multiple packages this year, he still couldn’t help but feel nervous every time.

After all, what came out of the packages weren’t just paper dolls that could only be looked at and not licked, but things that could actually affect Su Ming’s development and improve his strength.

At this moment, Su Ming couldn’t help but lick his chapped lips, then started to open the package.

Soon, Su Ming pulled out the first item from the package.

Small amount of spiritual energy: extremely pure and unowned spiritual energy. When absorbed into the body, it can increase the amount of spiritual energy with no side effects.

“Not bad.”

Su Ming muttered in slight annoyance.

Mainly because he had also pulled out quite a few of these things in this year.

However, something that could increase spiritual energy without having any side effects would be valuable if put outside.

“Spiritual energy is energy that warlocks use to cast spiritual techniques. The stronger the spiritual energy is, the stronger the spiritual technique. The number and quality of spiritual techniques that can be casted will also increase.”

Therefore, there was no such thing as too much of this sort of thing.

Su Ming immediately swallowed the spiritual energy that was like a cloud into his stomach, allowing it to fuse into his body.

Su Ming pulled out the second item.

Spirit Demon Blood (Low Grade): Unknown low-grade spirit demon blood that can be used to refine illusionary potions.

“Spirit demon blood?”

Su Ming frowned.

This item was just as valuable as the first one, depending on the situation it might even be more so.

Because once it was refined into an illusionary potion, there was a chance that a human could have the blood of a spirit demon and obtain its power.

After the Spiritual Demon Prison appeared, only a small number of humans had developed a spiritual physique and could generate spiritual energy. They could use a power called “spiritual techniques” to eliminate spirit demons. The rest had no such opportunity.

To them, the appearance of illusionary potion was undoubtedly good news.

With the blood of a spirit demon and its power, even ordinary people could fight against spirit demons.

And that was the origin of the hunters.

The spirit demon blood in Su Ming’s hand could transform a human into a powerful hunter with a completely new body.

However, the illusionary potion wasn’t something that could be taken lightly. If one couldn’t adapt to the power within the potion, the result would be no different from a body self combusting.

Because of this, most who valued their lives didn’t dare to take such a risk. They wouldn’t gamble their bodies or lives away for power.

Of course, if the spirit demon blood used to refine the illusionary potion was high enough in quality, many would still be willing to take such a risk for the sake of power.

Unfortunately…

“Low-level spirit demons are just fish in the Spiritual Demon Prison. Even if one succeeds in consuming and adapting to the potion made from their blood, the greatest achievement would only be equivalent to a low-level fish among spirit demons.”

To many people, such a low-potential item was undoubtedly at least worth it .

“Forget it. At least to ordinary people, it’s still a very precious thing.”

After some thought, Su Ming decided to store the bottle of spirit demon blood in his backpack.

Whether he would toss it to someone he liked or use it for an exchange with others was something he would need to decide later.

[Mr. Su Ming’s opening of chests had not yet concluded.]

“Don’t tell me this bag only has three items in it.”

Su Ming prayed as he pulled out the third item.

Heaven and Earth Reversal (Eighty-Eighth Form): A high-level spiritual technique that could instantly reverse the boundary between heaven and earth, making countless kinetic energy, including gravity, into destructive forces. It could cause a devastating blow to anything within a certain range. It was extremely powerful.

When Su Ming pulled out a book like this from the bag, his body trembled.

“Nice!”

Such thoughts circled in Su Ming’s mind, leaving him in awe.
