I Obviously Just Want to be a Minor Character CH.39
Chapter 39
Without a doubt, Li Wei wasn’t as magnanimous and gentle as he seemed.
At the very least, he definitely wasn’t indifferent to Xu Qianqian’s attitude toward Su Ming, nor was he indifferent to Xu Qianqian’s relationship with Su Ming.
Su Ming didn’t find this strange at all.
Everyone in the academy knew that this Hunter Division’s top dog was pursuing Xu Qianqian. He never hid or concealed it, and even after countless rejections, he still persevered.
If a man like this truly didn’t care about his beloved woman being intimate with another man, then this man must have been ready to turn his home into a grassland.
At the very least, Su Ming didn’t believe Li Wei was such a man.
And Li Wei’s reaction told Su Ming that his thoughts were correct.
Well, it wasn’t a waste of effort to test him out.
Su Ming secretly added another layer of caution in his heart.
The countless melodramatic plots in novels from his previous life told him how far these so-called young masters would go for a woman.
As the saying went, beauty was the source of calamity. A character like Xu Qianqian would be a guaranteed love rival in a novel, someone who would exist to give the protagonist an opportunity to show off and humiliate them. There were plenty of flags that could be triggered by a woman like this.
Just like now, Su Ming was certain that Li Wei had his eyes on him.
And once he was targeted, it would be normal for conflict to arise, and even for them to become mortal enemies.
But Su Ming didn’t want to show off and humiliate him. He didn’t want to make a scene in front of others, and he definitely didn’t want to fight over a woman and break his own development plan.
Therefore, Su Ming absolutely didn’t want to get into any sort of conflict with Li Wei in the future. He didn’t want to be forced into a situation where he had to show off and humiliate him, make a scene in front of others, or even trigger some sort of melodramatic plot line where he fought the Li Clan as a whole.
At this thought, Su Ming’s eyes rolled slightly, and he withdrew his hand.
“It was just a joke. I’m also a little excited to be able to converse with the Hunter Division’s top student, so I hope Senior Li Wei doesn’t take it seriously.”
Su Ming gave Li Wei a pure and innocent smile. “Since your team is ready to gather, we won’t disturb you. See you later.”
He took An Zijin’s hand and bowed to Li Wei, then led the still shocked An Zijin away.
“Wait, wait for us!”
Yao Beibei and Jiang Wanyu quickly chased after them.
“Then, then we’re leaving too! Senior!”
Lei Hao also quickly bid Li Wei farewell and grabbed Ye Bai, who let out a small gasp, and ran off.
“Ah…”
Li Wei was still in shock from Su Ming’s sudden joke earlier and hadn’t expected Su Ming to leave so suddenly. Even the bystanders were stunned.
A few moments later, a soft laugh woke everyone up.
Xu Qianqian had been cold and distant earlier, but now she was laughing as if she had just heard some good news.
The smile was faint, and the laughter was soft, but Xu Daxianhua’s rare smile still made many people lose their minds.
Xu Qianqian mumbled to herself, “It’s just like him.”
As she spoke, she retracted her smile and looked at Li Wei. “Let’s go too, Senior.”
“Okay.” Li Wei could only blankly nod.
Su Ming and Li Wei’s confrontation was but a trivial event in the midst of a looming war in Hua Ming District.
The students who liked to post on forums had no more interest in making big news on the forums after arriving here. They all began to tense up under the atmosphere.
The instructors led the way at the front, passing through checkpoints and passing by military vehicles and soldiers until they finally led the students to a camp.
This camp would be the Demon-Hunting Academy’s students’ residence during the Hua Ming District battle.
Though it was called a camp, it wasn’t a place where tents were set up for people to live in. Instead, several large buildings were enclosed together to form a campus, which was provided to the students for rest and activities.
The headmaster of the Demon-Hunting Academy had arrived with the vice-headmaster, the directors of the Hunter Division and Warlock Division, as well as the other members of the faculty. They had been waiting for the tardy students for a long time.
After all the students had arrived, he gave a speech first, praising the fearless and unyielding spirit of humans in the face of spirit demons and their determination to fight to the end. Only then did he get down to business.
“This campus has three buildings: one is a dormitory building, one is a living building, and one is an office building.
“The dormitory building is where you will be staying. We have allocated a suite for each team in the academy. It’s best if members of the same team stay together for convenience, but there are many single rooms inside the suites. Everyone can live alone if they want. The Base City will not let you worry about your living conditions while you are working hard for humanity.”
“The residential building is used for daily chores. For example, the dining hall is located in the residential building. All food there is free of charge, and there are no restrictions on the number of meals served. You can order food and eat at any time of the day. No matter how late you return from a mission, you can always have a warm meal.”
“As for the office building, it is used specifically for missions. Its function is no different from our academy’s Missions Office. All missions assigned by the Base City are received from there. The students can choose the missions they want to complete based on their own needs and earn merit points.”
“I must clarify that, aside from some special missions that we will assign to specific students, we also have requirements for all students.”
The principal sternly explained to all the students.
“Our requirements are very simple: before the end of the Hua Ming District campaign, all students must obtain at least 10,000 merit points.”
This was a requirement that had to be met.
Otherwise, if a student came to this place but didn’t work hard and only idled in the residential area of the academy, what would they do?
The base city had transferred the entire Demon-Hunting Academy’s students to help because of a lack of manpower. If some students were afraid of death and only idled through this period of time, no one would forgive them.
Therefore, the academy set up this requirement, making every student earn ten thousand merit points before the end of the Hua Ming District battle.
If they couldn’t do it, that would prove that they hadn’t gone on many missions and hadn’t contributed much to this battle.
People like that…
“We will only give one punishment, and that is expulsion.”
The headmaster’s words made many people’s hearts tighten.
Even Su Ming’s mouth curled up. He knew he might not be able to slack off this time.
“Then I’ll explain the necessary details here. The rest of the time will be left for you to arrange as you please.”
Seeing how tense the students were, the headmaster nodded in satisfaction and said this.
“I hope that our Longyao Base City can win this battle, and I also hope that we can still see you in the academy when you return.”
After leaving such a melancholy sentence, the headmaster announced the dismissal.
Su Ming and his teammates exchanged a glance.
“Let’s go.”
Lei Hao picked up his backpack and laughed as he took the lead.
Everyone nodded.
The dormitory building, fourth floor.
Su Ming stood in front of Room 404 with his backpack, staring at the room number on the door. The corner of his lips twitched.
“This number feels so malicious.”
Su Ming didn’t dare walk in.
But the rest of the team had already rushed into the room and started to cheer.
“Wow!”
“It’s so big!”
Yao Beibei and Jiang Wanyu cheered.
“This is where we’re staying?”
“This is way too luxurious!”
Lei Hao and Ye Bai were also shocked.
Even An Zijin’s eyes lit up as she showed an expression of surprise.
What appeared before everyone was a very luxurious suite. Not only did it have a spacious main hall, side hall, dining room, and even a large balcony, there were also six rooms placed in different corners of the suite, creating a grandiose layout.
“Look! We can see the ocean from the balcony!”
Jiang Wanyu had already run over to the balcony.
“It’s so pretty!”
Yao Beibei was pressed against the giant panoramic window, watching the people walking by below. Her whole body was pressed against the glass.
“This is even fancier than a presidential suite!”
Ye Bai walked around the room, his face filled with joy.
“Holy shit!”
Lei Hao wasn’t well-read and could only use the words he used when he travelled around the world to describe his current mood.
Only Su Ming stood in front of the door, looking at the “404” signboard on the door, his expression conflicted.
“What’s wrong? Big Brother Su Ming?” An Zijin asked quietly, seeing Su Ming’s strange expression.
“No, nothing.” Su Ming shook his head. His expression was stern as he said, “I’m just worried that we might suddenly disappear while we’re staying here.”
An Zijin was confused.
The rest of the group was also confused.
The group had question marks on their faces; clearly, they didn’t understand Su Ming’s wild concern.
“Never mind. You guys wouldn’t understand anyway.”
Su Ming gave up on explaining how serious this matter was to these ignorant people and walked inside with his eyes rolled up.
“I feel like you’re insulting us.”
Ye Bai raised his hand to ask a question.
But Su Ming’s answer was powerful.
“I don’t care about your feelings. I care about mine.” Su Ming tossed out this line before saying, “Let’s pick our rooms. I’ll take this one.”
As he spoke, Su Ming very consciously walked toward the biggest room.
“Hold it!”
“You shameless bastard!”
Lei Hao and Ye Bai’s eyes widened. After realising what was happening, they rushed over.
However, Su Ming seemed to have already predicted their actions. He ran into the room and locked the door.
Lei Hao and Ye Bai could only wail outside the door in anger.
“How childish.”
“Seniors.”
Jiang Wanyu and Yao Beibei looked on with disdain.
Only An Zijin stared at Su Ming’s room, her head lowered. It was unclear what she was thinking.
