I Obviously Just Want to be a Minor Character CH.40
Chapter 40: Who made her fight me for a man?
In the largest room of the No. 404 suite in the residential building of the academy district.
Su Ming, who had successfully occupied this room, first settled his luggage and then collapsed on the bed.
It must be said that the living conditions here were indeed very good. The environment was not to be mentioned, and even the furniture was very high-end. The large and soft bed made Su Ming feel so comfortable that he wanted to roll around, but if he did so, it would be too shameful, so he might have already exploded with his girlish heart.
“Are these living conditions only prepared for this period of time or have they always been like this?”
Su Ming had heard that, in order to prepare for this battle, the Base City had carried out a significant renovation in Hua Ming District. Not only had they built up defences in all directions, but they had also carried out massive construction projects in both military and civilian areas.
Such construction may have even made the original residents of Hua Ming District think that they had found the wrong way home when they came back to take a look.
The living conditions in this camp where the academy district was located were so perfect and complete that it was hard not to suspect whether it was newly built by the Base City.
“Although the entrance to the Spiritual Demon Prison in Hua Ming District was discovered only three days ago, it would be difficult to build such a residential area within such a short period of time even if the entire Base City’s manpower and resources were used. But this world has alchemy tools and various extraordinary items, so it can’t be measured by common sense.”
Su Ming thought about these things while doing nothing.
This was also a way for him to relax.
In this situation, Su Ming suddenly heard someone knocking on his door.
“Who is it?”
Su Ming assumed it was Lei Hao and Ye Bai, who hadn’t given up on harassing him, so his tone of voice was very casual and lazy.
Unexpectedly, the voice that came from outside the door wasn’t that of those two rough men but a sweet and cute timid voice.
“Big Brother Su Ming, are you resting?”
The owner of the voice was An Zijin.
“Little Sister Xiao Jin?” Su Ming’s dazed mind finally returned a little. He got up from the bed and looked in the direction of the door. “Come in.”
After he spoke, the beauty outside the door seemed hesitant to push the door open.
“Big Brother Su Ming.”
An Zijin was still a little cautious as she pushed open Su Ming’s door and looked at the boy sitting on the bed, looking timid.
Ever since Su Ming had lost his temper on the train, both Xu Qianqian and An Zijin had become a little more cautious around him.
An Zijin was especially so, as if she was constantly watching Su Ming’s face, looking very careful.
Su Ming scratched his cheek. “If you have something to say, come in. What are you doing standing at the door?”
At these words, An Zijin blinked her large eyes and studied Su Ming’s expression before hesitantly walking into the room.
As he watched An Zijin like this, Su Ming suddenly felt a little dazed.
He remembered some things from when he was younger.
He remembered that whenever he got angry, his neighbour who was only a year younger than him would always do this—she would hold her plushie and carefully observe his expression, as if trying to determine whether he was still angry.
Especially when they had first met, Su Ming had been so jealous of An Zijin because of his parents’ bias that he had given An Zijin a cold shoulder the entire day. An Zijin was just like this back then, carefully observing him from beside him and timidly following him.
Now, ten years have passed.
In those ten years, Su Ming and An Zijin had both changed a lot, but some things seemed to have remained the same.
Even though he had transmigrated to a dangerous parallel world with a different atmosphere from his previous life, the bond between himself and this little neighbour of his seemed to still be there.
At this thought, Su Ming began to reflect on whether he had gone too far today.
Thus, Su Ming’s tone unconsciously softened quite a bit.
“What is it?”
Su Ming asked An Zijin.
“Nothing.” An Zijin lowered her head and twisted her fingers, looking very nervous as she snuck glances at Su Ming. She said timidly, “Everyone says that on the first day of moving into a new dormitory, you should have a hot pot. What does Big Brother Su Ming think?”
Su Ming knew that this girl was purposely trying to find a topic of conversation.
After all, the topic was a little too forced.
But Su Ming didn’t expose her.
“I think it’s not bad,” Su Ming said as if he were purposely agreeing with An Zijin’s topic. “The weather is getting colder now, so hotpot isn’t a bad choice.”
“Is that so?” An Zijin’s expression brightened. “Then let’s go to the dining hall and get some ingredients and borrow some tools.”
“Us?” Su Ming raised an eyebrow. “What about those guys? What are they doing?”
“They.” An Zijin’s eyes began to avoid Su Ming’s gaze. “They’re still tidying up their rooms, so they probably don’t have time.”
At this point, Su Ming had more or less figured out what was going on.
“So you came up with the idea of eating hotpot on the spot, and those guys don’t know yet?”
Su Ming didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
He knew that An Zijin’s topic was forced, but he never expected it to be this forced.
Perhaps this girl had thought hard about how to strike up a conversation with him?
An Zijin didn’t realise that she was full of holes and said, “Although, the entrance to the Demon Prison in Huaming District was discovered only three days ago. It would be difficult for even the entire city to build such a community in such a short time.
“It’s fine, it’s fine! Beibei and Wanyu will definitely agree with me. Senior Ye Bai will probably agree too, and Senior Lei Hao doesn’t seem to care what we eat as long as there’s food.”
An Zijin counted on her fingers one by one, looking very serious. It was a little funny.
But in a way, An Zijin wasn’t wrong.
It was obvious that Yao Beibei and Jiang Wanyu would never disagree with An Zijin’s suggestion. Ye Bai was a standard example of a lickspittle, so if An Zijin said they should eat shit, he would be the first to run over. Lei Hao was a man of few cares and a bit of a brash person; as long as there was food, he would be happy to eat anything.
Thinking about this, although the topic was a little forced, An Zijin had indeed accurately grasped the personality and style of each member of the team. This girl was unexpectedly not someone to underestimate.
At this thought, Su Ming smiled and looked at An Zijin.
He stared at this little sister who was just as cute as she had been when they were little, a smile in his eyes.
“What are you staring at me for?”
An Zijin blushed a little under Su Ming’s gaze and shyly tapped her fingers together.
“No.” Su Ming sighed. “It’s just that you’re still the same as you were when you were little.”
Su Ming’s words, filled with nostalgia, made An Zijin feel dissatisfied.
“I’m not!” An Zijin protested. “I’m already grown up, okay?”
It seemed that this girl didn’t like Su Ming treating her like a child.
In order to prove herself, An Zijin puffed out her chest, making her uniform look a little more prominent.
“Ahem.”
Su Ming choked and coughed twice, then shot a glare at An Zijin.
“Hee hee.”
An Zijin seemed happy with Su Ming’s reaction, and a cute smile finally returned to her face, as if the rain had cleared up.
“Big Brother Su Ming, don’t be mad anymore, okay?” An Zijin reached out and grabbed Su Ming’s sleeve, pleading pitifully.
“I’m not mad anymore.”
Su Ming’s expression was still gloomy.
“Really?”
An Zijin stared at Su Ming with bright eyes.
“Really.” Su Ming shot An Zijin a glance, as if he didn’t want her to get too pleased with herself. “But there won’t be a next time, okay?”
Being used as a tool by two girls and completely ignored still stung Su Ming’s ego.
So he warned her.
“Okay! ^o^/~”
An Zijin responded with a smile and threw herself into Su Ming’s arms, hugging him around the waist with ease.
The atmosphere between the two became much more relaxed. An Zijin seemed to be quite satisfied.
Su Ming, on the other hand, took this chance to ask An Zijin a question.
“To be honest, why do you seem to be competing with that woman Xu Qianqian?”
Su Ming asked this question.
An Zijin’s smile froze slightly before it disappeared completely.
“Who made her steal my man?” An Zijin mumbled.
“Steal your man?”
Su Ming’s expression became strange.
“That’s right!” An Zijin said without hesitation. “I feel like that person has some sort of ulterior motive with Big Brother Su Ming, so I really don’t like her!”
Su Ming was speechless at this explanation.
Has some sort of ulterior motive with me? What kind of good fortune is that? What kind of thing is that?
The only person who has ever had ulterior motives with me is you, my incompetent little sister!
And…
“Could Xu Qianqian have her eye on me?” Su Ming rolled his eyes. “I think you’re mistaken.”
That female vampire was at most just craving his body (blood).
Unfortunately, An Zijin didn’t seem to think the same.
“Even though she’s clearly a cold and aloof Senior Sister in everyone’s eyes, only in front of Big Brother Su Ming does that person’s gaze and expression completely differ from what was mentioned in the rumours,” An Zijin said very seriously. “A woman only shows a different side of herself to a certain specific man. This only proves that this person is special to her in her heart.”
An Zijin spoke as if it were the truth.
Su Ming couldn’t explain his “love-hate relationship” with Xu Qianqian, so he could only say to An Zijin, “I don’t know how to explain it to you, but you’re definitely misunderstanding. Don’t react so strongly next time, okay?”
Su Ming lectured An Zijin in a very sincere manner.
But this made An Zijin very upset.
“I’m not misunderstanding at all!” An Zijin said angrily. “Big Brother Su Ming is such a dummy.”
After leaving this sentence behind, An Zijin jumped off the bed and ran out of Su Ming’s room.
“Ai, wait, I haven’t finished yet!”
Su Ming’s shocked attempts to stop her failed to keep An Zijin from leaving.
An Zijin stuck her tongue out at Su Ming and whispered.
“Such a dummy.”
