Grab The Heroine and Run Away Ch. 88

Photos and videos from Ji Songyu’s wedding circulated on various entertainment websites for a long time. The two beautiful women in every picture were filled with smiles of happiness, leaving many people sighing in admiration.

It was truly beautiful. The longing for love, but feeling alone.

A certain pearl who wasn’t alone also felt envious, but envy was of no use. In broad daylight, standing in front of everyone, holding Xin Nuo’s hand and saying, “This is my girlfriend, my beloved,” there were only two things she had to do.

Work and study.

After the final three episodes of “Next Stop: King of Songs” were recorded, Jian Yueyin flew back to Haicheng, while she stayed in Beijing to continue her classes.

Peking University, aside from winter and summer breaks, isn’t open to the public. The school has good security, a strong academic atmosphere, and although Xu Heran’s appearance in the classroom caused some ripples at first, students gradually got used to it. Except for occasionally being struck by her beauty.

It’s not that there weren’t people who wanted to get close to Xu Heran, for fame or gain, but Xu Heran didn’t even spare them a glance. These people were asking for trouble and only dared to complain without naming names in private, causing no ripples at all.

In the afternoon, Xu Heran had no classes. Carrying her backpack, she left the dormitory and went to the library with Xu Junran, who came to find her.

Her identity was somewhat special. Due to various considerations, the school arranged her to stay in the doctoral student dormitory, a single room for a single person.

The winter solstice had just passed, and Beijing was getting colder. Everywhere you looked, people were bundled up in thick down jackets, along with handsome men and beautiful women pretending not to be cold, their shoulders trembling slightly. Xu Heran never skipped her training every day, so her physical condition was excellent, like an agile and beautiful deer, lightly walking along the forest path.

The winter sky was bright and sunny, the sun using its brilliant light to deceive people’s vision. The moment people stepped outside, thinking it wasn’t so cold today and dressed beautifully, they shivered.

Xu Heran lifted her head, glanced at the sky through the bare branches, and subconsciously took her phone out of her pocket. Taking a photo, she sent it.

Her hands weren’t idle, and neither was her mouth. She let out a sigh.

“Ah, at a time like this, you should be holding your girlfriend’s hand or embracing her, walking slowly through the campus paths, admiring the winter scenery together.” She finished speaking and glanced at the person beside her. “It’s a good time, yet, I have to study with you. Tsk.”

Xu Junran coldly chuckled. “You’re quite something.”

“As long as you know.”

The siblings exchanged glances, stared at each other, then turned their heads away.

Arriving at the library, the two took their usual seats, taking out their books. Xu Heran glanced at her phone and smiled faintly. Sitting across from her, Xu Junran’s expression changed to a “here we go again,” look.

A certain pearl with headphones tapped the video button. The person on the other end answered quickly.

On the screen, the girl with black hair narrowed her eyes.

Xu Heran started laughing, pointed at her textbook, and pouted.

“Study well,” Xin Nuo said softly, “so you won’t struggle during exams.”

Xin Nuo and Song Fenghua’s drama was more than halfway through filming. Besides the movie, the two of them spent the rest of their time preparing for their graduation thesis and next year’s dance performance. When the two girls majoring in the same field chatted, they discussed more about their specialization than they did with Xu Heran.

To make Xin Nuo agree to come find her right after finishing the movie’s filming, Xu Heran used all sorts of methods, pretending to be pitiful and coquettish.

The library wasn’t a convenient place to talk. The two of them, engrossed in reading and analyzing scripts, placed their phones in front of them, lowering their heads, their expressions gradually becoming serious. Xu Heran looked up, causing Xu Junran to glance over and think that being in love looked decent and wouldn’t waste time studying.

Just as his thoughts passed, he saw his older sister, who was usually serious, suddenly puff her cheeks, raise her hand, and make a “mwah” sound, blowing a kiss toward the girl on the screen.

Xu Junran: “…”

Never mind, no need.

The new year passed in the blink of an eye. When Xin Nuo’s filming was done, Xu Heran finished her exams and flew back to Haicheng directly.

“Villagers, come take a look! Our wanderer has returned!” Jiang Qiong stood at the doorway, holding a cymbal in her hand and knocking it with a “clang clang clang.”

Xu Heran’s ears hurt from the noise. She mocked, “You really look like that toy, have you seen it? A monkey banging cymbals.”

It was a long time no see, and the first thing upon meeting was being mocked. How could the barking dog endure this?

A fierce and intense battle erupted in the forest villa in an instant! It was extremely brutal! Too gruesome to behold!

According to a passerby named Haya, she said, “It looks like the real thing.”

The people in the living room immediately showed expressions of “Oh my god, this is too intense.”

“Yueyin, Xu Zhuzhu bullied me! Aren’t you going to do something?” Jian Yueyin was happily watching TV. Hearing Jiang Qiong’s plea for help, she immediately replied loudly, “No, deal with it yourself.”

Not long after, Jiang Qiong crawled into the living room and lay on the floor playing dead.

Xu Heran drove a small car leisurely into the entrance from outside, with a proud expression on her face. She looked around and puzzledly asked, “Hey, why is it just you guys?”

“A few of us?” Jian Yueyin raised an eyebrow.

She, Song Fenghua, Haya, and Jiang Qiong were all there. Even the exam-preparing student Laurel came out from the study room to welcome Zhuzhu, preparing to have a welcoming feast with Auntie for Xu Heran.

“Ning Ning is still busy with her schedule.” Haya explained to Xu Heran.

Jiang Qiong, who was still playing dead on the floor, moved her lips. “Do you think Xu Zhuzhu wanted to ask Lin Weining?”

Jian Yueyin leaned back a bit, tuned the TV to a children’s channel on purpose, and said, “Don’t tell her, let her worry.”

“Hehe.” Jiang Qiong hadn’t finished laughing yet when she felt the floor vibrating. She opened her eyes and saw Xu Heran driving the small car from behind the couch toward her. The barking dog immediately jumped up and shouted, “Police officer!”

“Tell the truth.” Xu Heran looked at them distrustfully. “You didn’t secretly hide my beloved Nuo, did you?”

Jiang Qiong patted her clothes and sneered, “With your intelligence, how did you get into Peking University. Help! Police officer!”

Xu Heran drove a small car chasing Jiang Qiong, and the two of them circled around the couch.

Jian Yueyin, who couldn’t even watch an animation in peace, sighed deeply.

“Jiang’er, don’t bring these props home in the future.”

“But that’s not okay, whoever brings them is theirs!” Jiang Qiong said proudly, “I’m exercising by driving!”

The expressions of the group of people were hard to describe.

Song Fenghua looked at Xu Heran, who started rolling up her sleeves, a smile flashing through her phoenix eyes.

“Nuo Nuo went to buy groceries with Auntie.”

Xu Heran immediately got up from the small car and squeezed onto the couch, her tone overflowing with pride. “I told you, how could Nuo Nuo miss the chance to welcome me? Sigh, you guys don’t understand the feelings between us at all.”

The people were squeezed and skewed by her sighed.

You can show off all you want.

Xu Heran leaned on her chin, her eyes on the TV, but her focus on the door. When the doorbell rang, she quickly got up and rushed out.

“Nuo Nuo!”

In the corridor, a gentle female voice sounded.

“You’re back.”

“Quick, say you missed me!”

Auntie, who had returned from grocery shopping, smiled and directed BallBall toward the kitchen. Seeing a crowd of heads poking out in the living room, Auntie’s smile deepened, and she pointed her finger outside the door. “These two kids, they’re like a little couple, so sweet!”

“Yeah, hahaha,” Jian Yueyin echoed with a laugh.

Behind her, a group of people burst into laughter.

“Are you cold?” Xu Heran touched Xin Nuo’s face. After several months of not seeing her, Xin Nuo’s face had become thinner and paler. She looked fragile, like a delicate vase.

“What happened?” Xu Heran asked with concern.

Xin Nuo took off her gloves and intentionally slipped her hand into Xu Heran’s clothes. Xu Heran chuckled lightly and hugged her.

“It was for the movie. I lost a few pounds in the middle and never gained them back.” Xin Nuo whispered.

“Tsk.” Xu Heran furrowed her brow, lifting Xin Nuo with a playful jolt. “Wearing such thick clothes and still being so light.”

“It’s because you’re too strong!” Xin Nuo pushed her away intentionally. She took off her down jacket and hung it up, then headed to the living room. Xu Heran stood behind her, giving her a quick glance. Xin Nuo was wearing a form-fitting thin sweater, her waist slender, exuding a graceful charm.

Xu Heran touched her chin and suddenly felt like watching Xin Nuo’s new movie.

“Ran Ran, how long will you be staying at home?” Jian Yueyin asked.

The Lunar New Year was coming soon, and Xu Heran would be spending some time with her family in Blue Nation.

With less than a month for winter vacation, Xu Heran thought for a moment and said, “It depends on whether Sister Cui has any arrangements.”

In terms of Xu Heran’s recent years’ plans, Cui Qi had shifted her focus towards academics, which was also the wish of Xu Heran’s elders. Plus, there were still two and a half years until Xu Heran graduated. During these two and a half years, she would release one album a year and participate in variety shows during breaks, which Xu Heran agreed to.

“Nuo Nuo, Fenghua, when will your movie be released?” Xu Heran asked.

“We just finished filming it.” Xin Nuo sat down to drink water and smiled, “Why are you more anxious than the director?”

Song Fenghua thought for a moment, “It should be released during the summer season.”

Xu Heran stood behind the couch, counting on her fingers, “So, I need to send Laurel off for the college entrance exams first, attend your graduation performance, and then watch the movie. Is that the plan?”

Jiang Qiong, sitting next to Jian Yueyin, immediately asked Xu Heran, “Have you bought Yueyin’s album? Have you listened to Laurel’s single?”

Jian Yueyin released a new album in winter, and its style wasn’t quite aligned with Xu Heran’s romantic mood. Xu Heran calmly responded, “Of course, I bought it. Yueyin is Yueyin!”

“Can I interview you? How did you manage to write so many sad love songs while being single?”

Jian Yueyin smiled faintly, “I just imagined the scene of Ranran being abandoned…”

“Phew, phew, phew!” Xu Heran immediately raised her hand in front of her like a cross. “I’ve misjudged you! Yueyin!”

Jian Yueyin burst into hearty laughter, “Just kidding.”

In the living room, only Jian Yueyin’s laughter echoed.

Three seconds later, Jian Yueyin’s laughter abruptly ceased. The usually composed girl picked up her water glass with a guilty conscience, taking a sip to evade the astonished gazes from the others.

Laurel, Haya: “???”

“Abandoned?”

“By whom?”

“Is Little Pearl in a relationship?” Laurel asked in astonishment.

“With whom?” Haya was even more shocked than Laurel. She turned to Xu Heran, suddenly realizing something, and her gaze landed on Xin Nuo.

Xin Nuo was engrossed in watching an anime, seemingly indifferent to their conversation and utterly unconcerned about the person Xu Heran referred to as her love interest. Her expression remained calm and serene, without any signs of shyness or blushing.

“Hissss… It’s not—”

Haya pointed her finger at Xin Nuo, then at Xu Heran, and took a deep breath.

“Did I fall for a nonexistent couple?”

“It’s not about you two, huh?”

“Calm down.” Song Fenghua grabbed Haya’s wrist and directed it towards the composed girl, making Haya’s index finger point at Xin Nuo.

Facing Haya’s horrified gaze, the composed girl nodded.

“Believe in yourself.”

“Uh… what?”

Laurel held her forehead in shock. “When did this happen?”

Everyone shrugged.

Jian Yueyin whispered, “It was probably during late September or early October when we were recording the ‘King of Songs’ music variety show.”

“I thought you had just had a little peach blossom luck at that time, but Little Pearl went ahead and plucked the peach?” Haya suddenly slumped back onto the couch, losing her energy, and let out a long sigh.

“In the end, I lost.”

Darn it!

But Jiang Qiong suddenly burst into laughter, “You’re all wrong!”

“Earlier than that!”

Jian Yueyin raised an eyebrow, Haya turned her head in a daze, Laurel’s neck twisted with a creak, and Song Fenghua frowned in confusion.

“When did it happen?” Jian Yueyin asked.

Jiang Qiong’s triumphant laughter was cut short as the dark-haired girl sitting a distance away cleared her throat.

Xin Nuo’s expression remained calm as she bent down, her snow-white fingers gripping a transparent glass near her lips. The water was slightly warm, and she sipped it slowly, lifting her lashes to sweep her gaze gently past the others.

Jiang Qiong: “…Uh.”

Others: “Well…”

“Anyway, figure it out yourselves.” Dog Woof Woof cowered behind Jian Yueyin.

Haya sounded even more mournful. “So, apart from me and Laurel, all of you knew?”

“And Ning Ning,” Jiang Qiong consoled her. “I only thought I knew, but I didn’t know that you guys didn’t know. Only those two knew!”

Haya: “?”

What’s with the Dog Woof Woof’s remarks!

Jian Yueyin said, “I thought only Fenghua and I knew.”

After all, a certain Little Pearl was far from discreet in her actions toward her.

Song Fenghua lowered her eyelashes. “Pearl kissed Nuo Nuoin front of me and the captain, and Nuo Nuo didn’t refuse.”

In that moment, she understood.

“Xu Heran!” Laurel shouted.

Haya followed suit. “Xu Heran!”

“You ruined the surprise banquet!”

“Why should you be faster than me!”

Both of them shouted simultaneously.

Laurel: “?”

She narrowed her eyes and looked at Haya.

“What’s going on, Your Highness? You’ve been through all that and yet you didn’t notice the ‘beauty’ in her eyes!” Jiang Qiong taunted Laurel.

“Heh.” Laurel shook her head, grabbed a cushion, and stuffed it into her arms, letting out a sigh.

Xu Heran spread her arms, an air of grandeur about her, her tone calm but tinged with arrogance.

“Because this pearl is charming, graceful, and well-liked!”

The crowd expressed their disdain, Laurel turned her head, pointing at the proud Xu Heran, and asked Xin Nuo, “What did you see in her?”

Xin Nuo held the cup in her hand, gazing at her reflection in the water, and chuckled softly.

“Fallen for her, endearing.”

Laurel: “…”

Xu Heran: “Hahaha! Hahahaha!”

Haya got up, turned around, and walked away. “I need to calm down.”

Jiang Qiong immediately stood up, kneeling on the couch, shouting after her, “Don’t tell Ning Ning! You have to let Ning Ning figure it out herself!”

Her intentions were exposed, and Haya stopped in her tracks. After a moment of thought, she suddenly relaxed her brow.

Well, this might be even more interesting.

Haya immediately turned around, giving Jiang Qiong a thumbs up.

The relationship between Xu Heran and Xin Nuo was now officially on the table within SGS. Although everyone knew there was something between them, they didn’t expect the relationship to be confirmed so quickly. Laurel was shocked and went to the kitchen to cook, while others pitched in to help.

Cooking for seven people was not easy, but thankfully, the aunt had prepared in advance. Many of the meat dishes were half-cooked in advance, making the final preparation faster. With everyone working together, they soon set up a sumptuous dinner table.

“To love!” Xu Heran raised her glass and proclaimed.

Around the table, the seven individuals, five of them single, turned their heads, coldly snorted, rolled their eyes, but still raised their glasses and clinked them.

“Ding,” a sound rang out as the pink wine swayed in the glass. Xin Nuo whispered, “To love.”

“In accordance with the three articles of agreement, please refrain from hurting the hearts of single doggies in public places. Thank you,” Jiang Qiong said to Xu Heran during the meal. “The other two articles are unexpectedly being saved for later.”

Xu Heran chuckled. “No problem. Xu Pearl is a forgiving and caring little pearl.”

“Isn’t that right, Nuo Nuo?” She turned to Xin Nuo.

“Look at her!” Jiang Qiong immediately tattled to Xin Nuo.

“Focus on your meal. Aren’t you tired from the flight?” Xin Nuo said to Xu Heran.

Xu Heran was about to say she wasn’t tired, that she still had plenty of energy. But then she suddenly thought of something, smiled, and remained silent.

Everyone chatted and laughed, showing off to Lin Weining on video chat. After being full and content from the meal, they all returned to their respective rooms to freshen up.

Xu Heran returned to her room, the familiar scent enveloping her. The feeling of home immediately relaxed her, and she started packing her clothes before heading to the bathroom to freshen up. After she left, a light figure slowly walked in and placed a card on her bed.

When Xu Heran came out wearing her pajamas, she quickly spotted the card on the bed. The familiar handwriting read, “In your room slumbers a treasure.”

Xu Heran’s gaze first fell on the bed. She noticed the flat, undisturbed sheets and raised an eyebrow in disappointment.

“I hope that this treasure can let me kiss and hold it.”

Of course, there was no response in the room. The tall girl searched the room, lifting the sheets, pillows, checking the desk, and when her eyes fell on the small wardrobe in the room, a white card leaned against it.

“Not inside here.”

Then who was inside?

In an instant, Xu Heran smiled. She shook her head, rarely seeing this cute side of Xin Nuo. Her heart felt a bit tender and itchy.

The girl’s obedient gaze moved from the wardrobe, passed around, and landed on the bedside table. She pulled open a drawer and saw a pink box.

The box wasn’t large, and from its appearance, it was easy to imagine what was inside.

Xu Heran’s eyes lit up in an instant, her heart pounding. Her fingers trembled with excitement as she picked up the box and gently opened it.

The other half of the silver ring that Xin Nuo had casually mentioned lay quietly in the box.

Xu Heran took a deep breath, turned around, and with determined steps, she swung open the closet.

Expecting to see Xin Nuo’s clothes, Xu Heran found herself face to face with her own wardrobe, momentarily stunned.

Behind the closet door came a soft laughter.

Xu Heran lowered her head, joined in the laughter, and walked slowly towards the sound. She opened the door.

The girl in white pajamas stood with her arms crossed, leaning against the doorframe. Her dark eyes fixed on Xu Heran.

“Fool,” the girl’s voice was low.

“I love you,” Xu Heran suddenly said, leaning down and placing a kiss on Xin Nuo’s lips.

“That’s foolish too,” Xin Nuo lowered her gaze, and softly replied.

Xu Heran opened her arms, lifted her up, and walked to the open closet. She had Xin Nuo sit on the horizontal board about a meter above the ground. The girl leaned back, pressing against the clothes hanging there. Her fair feet lightly rested on Xu Heran’s thigh.

“Little fool, what do you want to do?” Xu Heran asked, bending down, her hands pressed against Xin Nuo’s sides. They chased each other’s breath, their noses almost touching. Xin Nuo heard Xu Heran’s deep voice.

“Of course, I want to be your sister.”

What did she want to do?

Sister.

An overwhelming sensation surged through Xin Nuo’s mind, her body involuntarily growing soft. Her foot, which had been resting on Xu Heran, slipped down, hanging on either side of her body.

“Random nonsense,” she slightly tilted her head, evading Xu Heran’s warm breath.

However, Xu Heran reached out, pinching her chin, forcing the girl to face her.

“Sister, why did you suddenly give me a ring?” Xu Heran asked in a low voice, slowly pressing Xin Nuo downward.

Xin Nuo’s subconscious hand rested against Xu Heran’s chest, at the collarbone.

The villa was quite warm, and wearing a thin undershirt in winter wasn’t cold at all. Beneath her palm, the girl’s body was feverish, carrying the familiar scent of shower gel. Xin Nuo couldn’t resist it.

“Because someone saw others with envious eyes,” Xu Heran said.

Xin Nuo was referring to the way Xu Heran had looked at the couple exchanging rings at Ji Songyu’s wedding, her eyes sparkling with envy. She originally intended for Xu Heran to find a gift on her own. But on the first day Xu Heran returned, she couldn’t help but show up personally, providing a clue.

“I see.” Xu Heran placed the ring box on Xin Nuo’s chest, lying half-reclined. She extended her hand with a chuckle. “Sister, help me put it on.”

Xin Nuo lifted her gaze, her eyes leisurely holding a playful mockery. Eventually, she sighed and opened the box. She pulled Xu Heran’s finger over and placed the ring on her middle finger.

“It looks nice,” Xu Heran raised her hand, happily saying.

A faint smile tugged at Xin Nuo’s lips, her gaze gradually growing tender, like melting ice bathed in the warmth of a spring sun, delightful and heartwarming. Xin Nuo revealed a faint smile, her gaze gradually growing tender, like melting ice bathed in the warmth of a spring sun, gentle and warm, bringing joy.

“Hiss.”

The girl who was admiring her own fingers suddenly took a breath.

“What’s wrong?”

“The ring feels a bit cold,” Xu Heran looked at her own finger and smiled, “but it’s okay, it can be warmed up.”

She lowered her hand and drew herself closer.

The closet wasn’t large, a bit deep, and their upper bodies were almost pressed against it. The soft fabric hanging in the closet clung to their bodies. In the dim light, Xin Nuo could only see Xu Heran’s face, somewhat blurry. Only her eyes were bright, like eternal stars.

The girl’s smile was radiant, her voice gentle and bright. She calmly raised the hand adorned with the ring and pressed it against her lower abdomen.

“Then I’ll trouble my sister.”
