Chapter 7: The Police Station Incident
The morning in Locke City was quite pleasant and sunny.
At least, that’s what Officer Weber at the West City Police Department headquarters thought. After walking into his office right on time as usual, he stood by the window with a cup of coffee, enjoying the morning sunlight.
It was a bit strange. There seemed to be fewer colleagues at work this morning, nearly a third missing.
But Officer Weber was only puzzled for a few seconds before putting it out of his mind.
The police force in this city had long been rotten to the core. Who knew where those people had gone to have a good time last night? Maybe they had thrown their backs out from being too vigorous and were still in some pleasure girl’s bed, unable to get up. Of course, they could also have drunk themselves into a stupor.
This sort of thing was completely normal—Officer Weber himself often did the same—and there was nothing worth worrying about at all.
Sipping the coffee, which cost over thirty luns a cup, by the rim with his lips, Officer Weber looked out the window again, only to find nearly a hundred people walking toward the police station.
For a moment, he felt a slight tension and his hand reached for the weapon at his waist, but after recognizing the newcomers, he immediately relaxed.
It was just those people from the Black Sand Gang—no problem.
Normally, the police and gangs were supposed to be enemies, but the true masters of the Allen Federation were capital and the chaebols. Both the police and the gangs were their lapdogs, and in most places, they had long since mixed and mingled together as snakes and rats in the same nest.
Officer Weber often drank and had a good time with the people of the Black Sand Gang. Last time a girl came to report that the Black Sand Gang’s thugs had assaulted her, Officer Weber had joined in and ruthlessly bullied the girl together with the Black Sand Gang, even threatening her afterward.
Although it was quite strange for so many members of the Black Sand Gang to come to the police station so early in the morning, Officer Weber didn’t think the worst of it at all. He even walked out of his office with his coffee, intending to greet his acquaintances.
However, just as Officer Weber raised his hand, before he could even wave, a Black Sand Gang thug walking straight at him pulled out a black metal tube longer than an adult’s arm and aimed it at him.
After that, Officer Weber only felt a pain in his heart and his vision went black. His whole body gradually lost all strength, and finally, he fell asleep on the spot, knowing nothing.
The same thing was happening at other places at the police station entrance. Many officers had wanted to come out and greet the Black Sand Gang members they knew, only to be shot dead without warning.
The black metal tubes used by these Black Sand Gang thugs were the equipment provided by Emelite, a type of military magic pistol.
The magic pistol, as a weapon, could be said to have reached the same goal as the guns of Blue Star, just that the bullets fired and the method of imparting kinetic energy to the bullets were different.
The bullets of the magic pistol were basically steel nails ranging from 1 to 3 centimeters in length. These steel nails would be accelerated multiple times in the barrel of the magic pistol by coil-shaped magic inscriptions, just like an electromagnetic railgun, and finally be shot from the muzzle at a power of 2 to 5 times the speed of sound, causing damage to the target with kinetic energy.
“Fuck! Are these bastards crazy?”
Only after losing over ten men all at once did the police station side finally react. The remaining officers cursed furiously, drawing their own magic pistols to fight back while searching for cover.
Unfortunately, it had little effect.
The magic pistols used by these officers were all short-barreled pistols, equivalent to Blue Star’s handguns; their power, range, and accuracy were only suitable for bullying ordinary people.
The magic pistols used by the Black Sand Gang thugs, however, were all military-grade equipment, capable of even penetrating the walls of the police station building to directly kill the officers hiding behind them.
Furthermore, these Black Sand Gang thugs were actually corpses controlled by Emelite’s necromancy. They could continue fighting even if shot two or three times in non-vital areas, which further widened the gap in strength between the two sides.
In just over ten minutes, the Locke City Police Department was running with blood. Many officers died at the hands of gang members they had once called brothers and played with.
Just as the people on the entire first floor of the police station were about to be killed off, the expert who held the fort for the police station finally made a move.
It was a female officer with a rather fiery figure. Her upper body was dressed in a police uniform shirt, but her lower body didn’t even have a pair of pants, only a pair of fishnet stockings full of holes, and her eyes still held a hint of charm.
Emelite knew this person. The Black Sand Gang’s boss and Fatty Vi had both mentioned her. She was the Police Chief’s lover and also the strongest combatant of the Locke City Police Department.
Clearly, this Police Chief’s lover had been in the Police Chief’s office on the second floor with the Chief, engaging in their morning exercise. She hadn’t expected the Black Sand Gang to suddenly burst in, leaving her no choice but to jump down from upstairs to fight without even having time to put on her clothes.
“Magical Attire, equip!”
After landing and spinning gracefully, Miss Lover’s appearance changed completely. She now wore a gorgeous dress that had a magical girl style but still bore the police emblem, and a long spear appeared in her hand.
The ability to use Magical Attire that covered her entire body indicated that she was already a Control-level Mage. This level of strength was absolutely top-tier in a third-tier small city, something ordinary people could not possibly resist… even if those ordinary people had been turned into corpses by necromancy and were well-equipped.
And that was exactly the case. As Miss Lover charged forward, four Black Sand Gang thugs were immediately sent flying by her spear. The steel nails fired at her from the magic pistols were mostly thrown behind her, and the few that did hit failed to penetrate the defense of her Magical Attire, falling to the ground after striking sparks against her body.
A Control-level Mage’s eyesight was far superior to that of an ordinary person. Even though Emelite was controlling the Black Sand Gang thugs’ corpses to act convincingly, Miss Lover still judged within two moves that these Black Sand Gang thugs were nothing more than corpses.
“These people have been dead for a long time! The real culprit is the necromancer hiding in the shadows!”
Miss Lover swept her long spear again, knocking several thug corpses away, and immediately gave orders to the police officers who were still alive:
“Hold on a little longer! I’m going to find that bastard and kill him!”
After saying this, she leaped again, ignoring the entanglement of the thug corpses, and followed the magical traces on their bodies to chase after Emelite’s hiding place.
Miss Lover seemed very confident, but her lover, Mr. Police Chief, did not think so.
“Necromancy… and military-grade magic pistols… Could it be?”
Mr. Police Chief, who was observing from the window on the second floor of the police station, muttered a few words, then frowned and abandoned his subordinates and lover without hesitation, choosing to escape through the secret passage in the police station.
On the other side, Miss Lover followed the magical traces and soon found Emelite in an empty courtyard near the police station.
“Hmm?”
Seeing that the enemy hiding in the shadows was actually a beautiful young girl, Miss Lover was a bit surprised, but she quickly turned vicious, revealing a cruel smile.
Among women, those who could truly get along were in the minority. For most women, when they saw a woman more beautiful than themselves, their first reaction was not admiration, but jealousy.
The long spear shot out again. Without saying a word, Miss Lover directly aimed the spear’s tip at Emelite’s face and stabbed viciously, only to become a mosquito caught in a spiderweb.
