Chapter 13
Chapter 13: Chengque’s Close Combat Plan
Over the weekend, everyone woke up early.
Wen Yu was pulled out of bed by Fu Chengque, an experience he had never had in his past life.
Fu Chengque dressed very differently today. Wearing a beige dress and sandals, with a white handbag slung over her shoulder, she looked fresh and natural. Her fair arms and legs were the most eye-catching.
Wen Yu couldn’t take his eyes off her.
It took him a while to regain his composure and turn to wash up, while the girl rushed to greet Banben.
“Wow, Banben has recovered really well. He’s gotten fatter. The white spots on his body have become lighter~”
“Yeah, with enough food these days, if it were just a pig, it would be ready for market by now.”
“Banben, Banben, little kitty, hehehe…”
By the time Wen Yu finished washing up, Fu Chengque was covered in cat hair again.
All the way there, she struggled with the cat hair that made her itch on her face and neck but couldn’t find it.
Wen Yu could only buy water to wipe her off and then check everywhere for cat hair.
If there was cat hair, her face would turn red.
“Why is your face so red?”
“I… I also have cat hair on my face, it’s itchy.”
“Really? Let me see.”
“I’ll do it myself! Let me do it!”
The girl turned away in a panic and wiped her face with water. When she turned back, most of the redness on her face had subsided.
She exclaimed in distress, “I won’t touch it anymore…”
“Chengque, what are you touching?”
When Fu Chengque regretted her actions and looked up at the sky, Xiao Gua arrived with Fang Ling and Lu Min.
Seeing Xiao Gua, Fu Chengque hugged her and began to complain bitterly. She got covered in cat hair from petting the cat in the morning and now she’s itching all over.
Peng Hui comforted her and then asked about the cat.
“I found it, and then let me tell you guys…” She recounted Banben’s miserable condition and concluded, “Its name is ‘Banben,’ given by Wen Yu.”
Several girls burst into laughter.
Wen Yu thought to himself, you all don’t understand the meaning of this name.
Following Team Leader Fu’s plan, they first went to the recently opened shopping mall for a stroll.
Lu Min was attracted to the claw machine and insisted on trying it.
“I must catch the green doll, all of you come and help me.”
With a wave of her hand, she produced two crisp fifty-dollar bills.
“Wow, rich lady!”
“A rich lady with good grades and good looks.”
Fu Chengque and Fang Ling’s eyes lit up. They exchanged the bills for coins and started playing the machine with clinking sounds.
Xiao Gua said, “The green doll is not auspicious, I prefer the small paired dolls next to it.”
Then she went to catch the paired dolls.
Wen Yu also received coins, but after one failed attempt, he threw them all into the nearby game character machine and sank without success.
Unfortunately, no one caught the green doll.
Xiao Gua successfully caught the paired dolls, but there was only one left.
She was so annoyed that she angrily complained to the air and eventually called for assistance from the staff.
So, each person received a green doll, and Xiao Gua successfully got the other half of the paired dolls.
They looked at each other’s green dolls, and everyone burst into laughter.
“Haha. Now everyone has one.”
“Today is suitable for getting closer to nature!”
After playing for a while, they ate hot pot nearby. In the afternoon, Fu Chengque made an outrageous suggestion—
Mountain climbing.
The girls were full of enthusiasm.
Wen Yu sighed, shopping in the morning and mountain climbing in the afternoon, what energy they had!
And it’s hard to imagine why Fu Chengque would wear a dress and sandals if she had planned to go mountain climbing earlier. It seems more like a sudden decision.
Fu Chengque is so arrogant, thinking the mountain is easy to climb?
***
The team set off for Qingcheng Peak, the highest mountain in Jiangcheng.
On the way, Fu Chengque felt the drumbeat in her heart.
Great, the plan is going smoothly!
She had planned it perfectly: setting the stage in the first half of the day, and the crucial part of completing the task with one burst of effort in the second half.
They walked tiredly in the morning, and now they’re climbing in the afternoon. It’s okay to go slow, right? And she’s wearing sandals, it must be uncomfortable to climb, so when the time comes, she’ll let Wen Yu help her. Wouldn’t that bring them closer?
So slowly climbing up, then slowly climbing down, forget about five hours, climbing until tomorrow is possible!
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!
Approaching the foot of Qingcheng Peak, Fu Chengque became even more excited.
“The first conquest plan of the team to conquer the world, starts now! Come, let’s distribute water,”
“Long live the leader!”
“Hail Chengque!”
“The first step to conquering the world is to conquer the highest mountain in Jiangcheng! Let’s go!”
[Star Group of World Conquest Strategies] started to conquer the world with difficulty.
Qingcheng Peak is the tallest mountain in Jiangcheng, but it’s not actually very high. Here, there’s an advanced concept “Green Path,” with gentle slopes and long roads, climbing to the top takes at least an hour and a half, specifically for walking.
Team status: Loud slogans, high morale, but dragging in strength.
After climbing for more than ten minutes, Lu Min and Fang Ling were the first to collapse, panting and saying that the road ahead was difficult, so they abandoned the idea and lay down flat under a small pavilion. Xiao Gua was also tired and sat down to rest.
Wen Yu didn’t even break a sweat.
Fu Chengque was somewhat surprised that he was fine.
After discussing it, they decided to continue the conquest plan.
But after only two or three minutes, Wen Yu heard a cry of pain from behind. Turning around, he saw Fu Chengque squatting on the ground, looking… in pain?
“What’s wrong, are you injured?”
“The sandals are not suitable for mountain climbing, they’re rubbing my feet.”
“Then shall we go back?”
“No, I, the Empress, cannot fall in such a place. Let me hold on to you, let’s continue, but walk slower.”
“You’re already very impressive, getting this far.”
“Huh? I haven’t even exerted myself yet! Let’s go, stop blabbering.”
Wen Yu felt a strange feeling in his heart, but couldn’t figure out what it meant.
But with such a close opportunity, he was secretly happy too.
“Okay, let’s walk slowly then.”
In the lush forest, amidst the mottled time, the girl in a dress gently pulled the hem of the boy’s clothes, stepping up slowly.
It was quiet and pleasant.
Slower, it could be even slower.
After crawling at a snail’s pace for two hours, when the two turned a corner, suddenly the scenery opened up before them.
On the mountaintop stood a pavilion called “Overlooking Jiang Pavilion.” From here, you could see the entire view of Jiangcheng.
“Wow, the scenery here is amazing! Wen Yu, let’s go over and sit for a while.”
As she spoke, she took out her phone to take a video to show off their climb to Xiao Gua and the others.
Xiao Gua and her friends were counter-showing off, eating ice cream on the lawn.
As soon as the two sat in the pavilion, the weather changed dramatically. A cloud suddenly appeared in the clear sky, and unexpectedly, it started drizzling.
“It’s so unexpected. I checked the weather forecast, and there shouldn’t be any rain today,” Fu Chengque exclaimed.
“It’s a good thing we got into this pavilion; otherwise, we’d be soaked,” Wen Yu remarked.
The wind picked up, and Fu Chengque, wearing a dress, had her lips turned slightly pale from the blowing wind.
Wen Yu took off his jacket and handed it to Fu Chengque.
A faint sense of pleasure arose in Fu Chengque’s heart; she felt that Wen Yu’s attentiveness to the future Empress was very timely.
It’s not cold anymore.
So the rain, it’ll stop in a while, and the wind will die down.
That’s what she thought.
But the weather didn’t comply with her wishes; instead, the rain intensified.
That’s fine too; they could sit a little longer. What if the task at the mountaintop was completed directly?
What they needed to do now was to get closer.
All because of the cold.
***
Though Wen Yu didn’t know what Fu Chengque was thinking, he vaguely felt that Fu Chengque seemed to want to stick close to him.
Was it really like that? Was it true?
He dared not confirm.
Compared to Fu Chengque, he was now more worried about the rain.
“It’ll be troublesome if the rain doesn’t stop.”
“What’s wrong?”
“If we descend in the dark later, in dimness and dampness, it’ll be too dangerous.”
Fu Chengque was unconcerned.
“Give Xiao Gua and the others a call; when I went up the mountain, I saw them resting at the Qingcheng Peak management office. They should be able to arrange for someone to pick us up.”
“Ah… there’s no need for that.”
“Your feet are rubbed red all over; you’re not thinking of having me carry you down, are you?”
“I’m fine…”
Wen Yu didn’t have time to think too much and urged Fu Chengque to notify them quickly.
The girl couldn’t resist in the end and reluctantly made the call.
Ten minutes later, Xiao Gua and the others called back, saying that the management office was currently busy transporting visitors down the mountain, but there were quite a few people, and it might take a while longer due to the heavy rain.
Wen Yu felt a bit anxious.
Fu Chengque felt somewhat happy.
Waiting a little longer would be fine too.
But the conflicting expressions on their faces instantly changed when they saw Xiao Gua and the others waving happily as a minibus with the words “Qingcheng Peak Management Office” appeared.
Wen Yu was very happy.
Fu Chengque’s expression completely collapsed.
***
As they boarded the minibus down the mountain, Fu Chengque, with a gloomy face, looked back at the Overlooking Jiang Pavilion.
They still had a long way to go; this task was too difficult.
The dark clouds above the pavilion had already begun to disperse, allowing sunlight to penetrate through the clouds, and the setting sun seized the last opportunity to reveal its presence.
Xiao Gua took out her phone and excitedly filmed a video to send to her boyfriend during the gap, while Lu Min and Fang Ling quietly chatted about today’s adventures.
Fu Chengque gazed at the scenery on the mountaintop, lost in thought…
She felt somewhat relieved.
Forget it, even if the task failed, it didn’t matter.
There would be other tasks, and attributes could slowly increase after they dropped, but some things couldn’t be replicated.
Let’s go back, regardless of wind or rain or sunshine.
