Lin Shuwei felt a sharp pain in her heart. Looking at Huo Yu’s appearance, although dazed and cute, blushing and cute, throwing a cute tantrum, and pouting in a cute way, the words she said were not cute at all; they were like needles.
From speculating that Huo Yu liked her to being certain that she liked Huo Yu, she thought Huo Yu was just being shy, having some psychological defenses. But now, she realized it was all her imagination.
The joy she felt when she confirmed Huo Yu’s feelings for her was now replaced with heartache.
Lin Shuwei lowered her gaze and didn’t look at Huo Yu anymore. She placed her hands on Huo Yu’s arms, intending to push her away, but she only applied a little force. Unexpectedly, the next second, her hands were empty, and then she heard a cat’s meow.
“Meow, meow, meow…” Huo Yu was still talking, unaware that her words had turned into meows.
As her body turned into a cat, the allure of catnip became stronger. Her body stretched out, lying on top of Lin Shuwei. Her front paws embraced Lin Shuwei’s neck, and she began vigorously rubbing and licking Lin Shuwei’s face with meows.
Lin Shuwei widened her eyes. She had just heard Huo Yu mention turning into a cat, but she didn’t expect her to become a cat in an instant.
The appearance of Little Kitty, after several months of growth, although slower than kittens of the same age, now had the characteristics of an adult cat. Fluffy cheeks, round face, round blue eyes, and a beautiful white collar that appeared after the fur fluffed up. Its quality was outstanding, surpassing many pedigreed cats.
Lin Shuwei sat up, and Huo Yu was still hanging on to her, enjoying the catnip.
Lin Shuwei felt a mix of emotions in her heart.
She had a general idea of the logic behind Huo Yu’s transformation into a cat.
It seemed that there was a mysterious power that made her fluctuating mood the determining factor for whether Huo Yu would transform into a cat or not.
No wonder when Huo Yu was drunk that time, she kept pleading for Lin Shuwei’s happiness.
If she wasn’t happy, Huo Yu would suffer the consequence of becoming a cat.
Due to her childhood experiences, Huo Yu didn’t like cats at all.
Mustn’t it be very uncomfortable to turn into a cat?
She had done so much to avoid turning into a cat, truly pitiful.
Lin Shuwei reached out and held onto Huo Yu, who was hanging on her neck. Her expression didn’t reveal any joy or anger. She walked to the window and opened it.
The scent dissipated as time passed second by second.
The effectiveness of catnip was limited. Huo Yu held onto Lin Shuwei for a while, acting infatuated. Gradually, her head cleared, and the jumbled logic in her mind pieced together.
“I’ve turned into a cat again!” Huo Yu saw her furry paws going crazy and then looked at Lin Shuwei right in front of her. What she said and did earlier rushed into her mind.
Huo Yu jumped off Lin Shuwei and landed on the bedside table beside them, widening her eyes as she looked at Lin Shuwei.
Unlike the fragmented memories from drinking alcohol, Huo Yu remembered clearly what she had done and said before, everything.
She remembered what she had said to Lin Shuwei just now.
Drinking alcohol caused trouble, no, it was the catnip!
Lin Shuwei saw her transform into a cat!
Lin Shuwei’s happiness points dropped into the negatives! All the happiness points she had accumulated, relying on daily affection from Lin Shuwei, were now completely lost. -8000, this was like a death sentence!
Through Huo Yu’s cat eyes, Lin Shuwei saw terror…
“President Huo, I’m sorry. I can’t make myself happy.” Lin Shuwei said.
With that one sentence, she created a rift between the two of them.
As Lin Shuwei looked at her, there was no longer the same joy and tenderness as before. Her eyes were filled with loneliness and sorrow.
Huo Yu looked at Lin Shuwei’s expression, heard her words, and felt inexplicably upset.
What had she said just now?
She didn’t like Lin Shuwei and even called her scum, lascivious, and troublesome!
Huo Yu wanted to smack herself in the face. Why couldn’t she control her mouth at that time?
The drop in happiness points must have made Lin Shuwei very upset.
“Sorry, I was wrong. I don’t dislike you, there’s still… a little bit of liking, just a tiny bit that can be ignored…” Huo Yu meowed a few times towards Lin Shuwei, but she remained expressionless.
Huo Yu suddenly remembered that she was a cat, and Lin Shuwei couldn’t understand her at all.
Huo Yu hesitated, scratched the bedside table, clenched her teeth, and opened the drawer. She took out a phone, her backup phone.
With proficiency, Huo Yu sent a message to Lin Shuwei.
Lin Shuwei watched as Huo Yu leaned over, used her little paws to press on the phone, and her tiny butt stuck up a bit. It was still cute.
Unfortunately, this adorable little creature didn’t like her. Even when she was Little Kitty, she was probably forced to please herself.
“Ding, Lin Shuwei is charmed by the host, happiness points +100.”
“Ding, Lin Shuwei realizes that the host doesn’t like her, happiness points -1000.”
Huo Yu’s little paw trembled. This was too harsh!
After sending the message, Huo Yu looked in Lin Shuwei’s direction.
“Lin Shuwei, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said those things about you. You’re great. Actually, I do like you. Don’t believe the nonsense I said earlier!”
Lin Shuwei heard the sound of a message coming in and opened her phone to read it.
“President Huo, you don’t have to force yourself. I really appreciate what you’ve done for me before, but I can’t cheer up right now. However, I will try to improve my mood. I’m truly sorry for making you become like this.” Lin Shuwei looked at the message sent by Huo Yu and spoke slowly to Huo Yu.
Huo Yu cried on top of the phone.
Even though this woman was scum, lascivious, and troublesome, she still had some liking for her. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have paid attention to her.
It was true that they had decided to date each other.
She had shattered her arrogance and admitted a truth she didn’t even want to acknowledge, but she wasn’t trusted!
Ahhhhhhhhhh!
“Damn woman, Lin Shuwei, I want to scratch you to death!” Huo Yu said in her heart, but her gaze towards Lin Shuwei seemed very aggrieved.
“What I said earlier was out of anger. What I’m saying now is truly genuine!” Huo Yu sent another message to express her sincerity.
Lin Shuwei’s mood remained unaffected.
“Lin Shuwei, what do I have to do for you to believe me!” Huo Yu exploded in anger.
It was really difficult to stir up Lin Shuwei’s emotions now.
She completely stopped trusting her!
Fine, if she didn’t believe her, then she, she would ignore her!
Huo Yu was so furious that her fur stood on end.
Seeing her own fur, she became deflated again.
Huo Yu stopped typing and jumped directly onto the bed. She elegantly walked with cat-like steps onto Lin Shuwei’s legs, lifted her head, meowed at her, scratched at her clothes with her paws, and nuzzled her head against her. There was a hint of coquettishness, expressing her fondness for her.
“President Huo, you don’t have to do this. Just be yourself.” Lin Shuwei gently said as she moved Huo Yu aside.
Huo Yu crawled back over and wrapped her tail around Lin Shuwei’s arm, her paws embracing Lin Shuwei’s waist.
“Even if you do this, I still can’t cheer up. I’m truly sorry.” Lin Shuwei said.
Huo Yu pouted, resolutely refusing to leave Lin Shuwei’s side. When Lin Shuwei tried to move her away, she couldn’t, as Huo Yu’s claws dug into her clothes.
Lin Shuwei looked at Huo Yu’s pair of blue eyes, soft and cuddly, nestled in her embrace. Her hand resting on Huo Yu trembled slightly, her gaze seemed to be restraining something.
Huo Yu innocently looked at Lin Shuwei, meowing repeatedly. Then there was a knocking sound at the door.
“Lin Shuwei, we’re leaving. What’s wrong with Huo Xiao Yu?” Gu Nanzhen’s voice rang out.
Lin Shuwei stood up, but Huo Yu clung to her and looked at her with widened eyes, shaking her head.
Lin Shuwei embraced Huo Yu and they stood up together, going to open the door.
“She’s asleep and not feeling well. It’s nothing. Are you leaving? Let me see you off.” Lin Shuwei said.
Huo Yu was afraid that Lin Shuwei would reveal her secret, so she breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Lin Shuwei’s words.
“I haven’t seen this cat in a long time. It’s getting more beautiful as it grows.” Gu Nanzhen said, seeing Huo Yu and rubbing her head.
Huo Yu avoided his touch, feeling infuriated.
If it weren’t for Gu Nanzhen’s meddling and buying a bunch of catnip products, she wouldn’t have ended up turning into a cat!
“And she still has an attitude!” Gu Nanzhen laughed and said, reaching out to touch her.
“Let’s go downstairs.” Lin Shuwei held Huo Yu and moved away from Gu Nanzhen, heading downstairs.
“We’ve discussed the matter. Take some time to consider. You’ve received your share of the profits, so money shouldn’t be a problem. You can also consider investing and share the risks with me.” Lan Xin smiled and said.
“Mhm. I’ve read the script. I’ll give you an answer tomorrow.” Lin Shuwei said.
“This cat is quite cute.” Lan Xin nodded and looked at Huo Yu.
“Yeah, it’s really cute.” Lin Shuwei said.
Huo Yu didn’t know what Lin Shuwei was thinking. When she was talking to Lan Xin and the others, there was no trace of the previous profound sadness.
If it weren’t for the happiness points not increasing, she would have thought she had recovered.
After seeing off Lan Xin and the others, Lin Shuwei didn’t forcefully move Huo Yu away. She just held Huo Yu and sat on the sofa, reading the script.
Lin Shuwei attentively read the script, and Huo Yu accompanied her on the side.
After finishing the script, Lin Shuwei leaned back on the sofa, closed her eyes, and contemplated.
Huo Yu watched Lin Shuwei from the side.
In the evening, Lin Shuwei went to her room to sleep, and Huo Yu followed along.
Now that she was a cat, Huo Yu didn’t have any reservations. She wanted to increase her happiness points, increase it!
At night, when Lin Shuwei lay down, Huo Yu burrowed into the covers and nestled in Lin Shuwei’s arms like a warm baby.
Lin Shuwei didn’t move her away. Until Huo Yu fell asleep, Lin Shuwei’s expression softened slightly. She gently sighed, stroked Huo Yu’s soft fur on her back, and held Huo Yu in her arms.
Lin Shuwei finished reading the script given by Lan Xin. The story in the script was excellent, and with such a great production team, Lin Shuwei wanted to give it a try.
The next day, Lin Shuwei replied to Lan Xin, confirming her participation in the investment.
They began the preparations for the filming of this movie.
Huo Yu stuck to Lin Shuwei. Wherever Lin Shuwei went, she followed.
Lin Shuwei didn’t shoo her away and even brought her cat food.
However, she wouldn’t actively get close to her anymore.
Every day, Huo Yu stayed by Lin Shuwei’s side like an obedient and clingy little wife.
Lin Shuwei could still be charmed by her cuteness, but sometimes she would instantly recall the past, and her happiness points would drop again.
As the Lunar New Year approached, the crew of 《Overgrown Grass and Fragrant Orchid》 notified Lin Shuwei to watch the completed film, and Huo Yu instinctively followed along.
This film had been kept a secret all along, and no one outside knew that Lin Shuwei had made such a movie. They were waiting to submit it to film festivals and release it domestically after winning awards.
After the editing of the film was completed, the director invited the main cast to watch it, as well as a few other filmmakers, to get some feedback.
Of course, everything was kept confidential.
If it weren’t for Huo Yu turning into a cat, she wouldn’t have had the chance to see it.
The location was at the director’s house. As soon as Lin Shuwei arrived with Huo Yu in her arms, a beautiful and petite woman came over to embrace Lin Shuwei.
“Long time no see. I missed you so much. Why didn’t you contact me? What have you been busy with lately?” the woman complained while speaking in a sweet tone with a hint of coquetry.
Huo Yu recognized this woman.
It was the award-winning actress, Lu Feiyu!
How could she be here?!

When you stop and think about it this is a really horrible thing to happen to Huo Yu - her very humanity bound to the emotional state of effectively a random stranger, and to top that off she's going to turn into an animal she finds traumatic to be around, let alone actually /be/. Yes she was being mean to Lin Shuwei, but in no way does that justify this kind of thing. Particularly when she's proceeded to do her utmost to help her erstwhile victim - she's done everything she could, short of somehow forcing herself to fall in love, and now she's being punished for failing that one thing.
I mean, we know that she's basically in denial and she does actually have feelings for Lin Shuwei, but it's still a truly horrible situation for her. If it wasn't so funny and cute it'd be a tragedy....
