Chapter 48

Jiang Ci had a dream where she was pressed down on the bed and kissed by Lu Xingxue, the kind of feeling that made her dizzy with ecstasy. She woke up with a hot face, her heart still pounding.

Under the covers, she tossed and turned, and a voice with a smile came from the nearby dressing table, “Are you awake?”

Jiang Ci froze immediately.

The carpet was thick, and she couldn’t hear any footsteps, but she felt the mattress sink down beside her, and she knew that Lu Xingxue had sat down.

She had drunk too much last night, and of course, she had forgotten what had happened. But the fact that Lu Xingxue was in her room meant that she had taken care of her all night.

While Lu Xingxue was taking care of her, she was having all sorts of dreams… Jiang Ci lay there motionless, feeling embarrassed.

Lu Xingxue smiled at the blanket, “Aren’t you feeling stuffy?”

After about ten seconds, two slender and white fingers stretched out from under the blanket like the tentacles of a snail, slowly pushing the blanket down to reveal a pair of beautiful glass-like eyes.

“I know I drank too much again.” Jiang Ci turned her eyes, awkwardly trying to break the tension, “You don’t have to go to work today?”

Lu Xingxue found her cute, “It’s a day off.”

Jiang Ci’s work schedule had also been suspended starting today. She made a soft sound and wondered what else to say. Suddenly, she noticed that there was something on her left ring finger.

“This!” The sudden surprise overcame the awkwardness. Jiang Ci sat up, turned her palm over, and looked at the ring. “Assistant Yao said that you personally made a ring to give to me.”

She knew about this ring, but only asked for it after getting drunk. She didn’t know how long she had been keeping this in her heart. Lu Xingxue propped herself up on the bed and gave a smirk, “You already got the ring, can I exchange it for a good morning kiss?”

Lu Xingxue was wearing pajamas with a slightly open collar. When she leaned over, her black hair fell and covered the spring scenery that was vaguely visible on her chest.

The scene from her dream suddenly replayed in Jiang Ci’s mind. Her gaze darted away and fell on the makeup table.

There were a few bottles and jars that didn’t belong to her on it, and one of the essence bottles was open. Jiang Ci realized that Lu Xingxue had probably been doing skincare there before.

Lu Xingxue had moved her personal items to her room. She invaded her territory and even asked for a kiss in her bed.

“…” Jiang Ci swiftly jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom in a flash.

Lu Xingxue looked at her back with amusement.

Lu Xingxue’s toothpaste and toothbrush were standing upright on the sink. Jiang Ci covered her eyes as soon as she entered, but a few seconds later, she opened her fingers and glanced at herself in the mirror with her head tilted.

She had changed into clean pajamas and there was no trace of the smell of alcohol on her body. Lu Xingxue took good care of her.

On her finger was a cat paw ring with a sparkling ruby. Even with half of her face covered by her hand, Jiang Ci could still see that her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes and brows were filled with an irresistible charm.

Lu Xingxue sat in front of the dressing table, organizing the used skin care products neatly. As she looked into the mirror, the bathroom door opened, and Jiang Ci walked out. Without hesitation, she walked up to Lu Xingxue and kissed her.

“… ” Lu Xingxue accepted her kiss.

Their soft lips met and Jiang Ci clumsily kissed her twice, saying, “… G-good morning.”

Looking up at her, Lu Xingxue smiled and said, “So sweet.”

Every pore on Jiang Ci’s body screamed with shyness. She turned and buried her face in the sheets.

Lu Xingxue moved over to her side and asked, “Now that we’re free, do you want to go anywhere?”

Jiang Ci shook her head under the covers.

Playing with her hair, Lu Xingxue asked, “Is it because we haven’t made plans, or because you don’t want to go?”

Jiang Ci protected her hair and turned to look at Lu Xingxue quietly, her delicate eyelashes falling and her ears turning red.

One second, two seconds… Lu Xingxue leaned in and Jiang Ci closed her eyes.

Their kisses were fine and sweet, like a dream. Lu Xingxue’s nose touched hers and the next kiss landed on Jiang Ci’s earlobe.

Lu Xingxue’s kisses were gentle, but Jiang Ci clutched the sheets, her heart pounding.

“There’s a little mole here,” Lu Xingxue whispered intentionally in her ear.

She was on fire, flames spreading from her ear, and Jiang Ci’s heart beat like a drum. “… Only that one,” she managed to say.

“Is that so? … Let me check,” Lu Xingxue said.

No one knew what time it was, and no one cared about the passing of time.

Jiang Ci indulged in Lu Xingxue’s teasing inspection. At first she was able to hold back any strange sounds, but eventually lost control.

“Ah-Ci,” Lu Xingxue kissed her sweaty forehead.

It took Jiang Ci a while to realize that Lu Xingxue was calling her.

“… Um, um,” she responded, lost in a daze, but trying to reply.

“Good girl,” Lu Xingxue said.

The sun went down, and the sky wasn’t completely dark yet. The sound of water in the shower gradually stopped, and the sliding door opened. Jiang Ci wrapped herself in a towel to dry her damp body.

The hot water had turned her skin into a beautiful shade of pink. Jiang Ci turned her neck, revealing deep and shallow love bites, reminding her of the indulgent day she had spent with Lu Xingxue.

Too embarrassed to look any longer, she hurriedly put on her clothes. In the room, Lu Xingxue was changing the sheets. When she saw her come out, she said, “Your phone rang.”

Jiang Ci hadn’t touched her phone all day. “Where is it?”

Lu Xingxue said, “I fished it out from under the bed, it’s over there on the nightstand.”

Jiang Ci walked over to check. “It’s from Huo Zhenzhen,” she told Lu Xingxue.

Just then, Huo Zhenzhen’s phone rang again. Jiang Ci answered, “Zhenzhen, are you looking for me?”

Huo Zhenzhen could hear that her voice was hoarse, and her heart ached for her. “Where are you, baby? Don’t be alone, come eat hot pot with us, your sisters care about you.”

“…I’m at home, hot pot?” Jiang Ci looked at Lu Xingxue.

Huo Zhenzhen continued, “You must not have any appetite lately, let’s have something heavy to stimulate your appetite. You look so listless; it worries me all day.”

Jiang Ci covered the phone and asked Lu Xingxue in a low voice, “Zhenzhen invited us to go eat hot pot, do you want to go?”

Lu Xingxue cooperatively lowered her voice, “Do you want to go?”

Jiang Ci said, “It’s up to you.”

Lu Xingxue nodded, “Okay.”

So, Jiang Ci asked Huo Zhenzhen, “Which place? Lu Xingxue and I will go with you.”

The hot pot restaurant was bustling with people, and the server led Jiang Ci and her group to Huo Zhenzhen’s table.

Huo Zhenzhen was wearing a pair of glasses and focused on playing games with Xiao A. She didn’t notice their arrival until Xiao A pulled her and she looked up.

“Oh, you’re here!” Huo Zhenzhen put down her phone and pointed to a pot of soup on the table, “This is the seafood hot pot without beef tallow that Ah-Ci specially prepared for President Lu. Can’t eat beef or lamb? Isn’t that going to make life less enjoyable?”

Lu Xingxue smiled and said, “It’s fine.”

There were three people sitting on three sides of the small private room. Huo Zhenzhen pulled Jiang Ci to sit beside her, leaving Lu Xingxue and Xiao A on the other side.

Jiang Ci turned to Lu Xingxue and smiled softly, “I’ll eat the seafood hot pot with you.”

Huo Zhenzhen continued, “What’s wrong? You’re not allergic to beef, are you? Aren’t you a big beef lover?”

Jiang Ci remained silent.

After Lu Xingxue’s last allergic reaction, Jiang Ci had specifically searched the internet and came across some severe allergy cases. If a partner eats food containing allergens, even kissing can lead to shock.

Although Lu Xingxue’s beef allergy was not so severe, it was enough to make Jiang Ci worried. However, she couldn’t reveal her thoughts in public.

Jiang Ci picked up her water glass and pretended to take a sip.

Huo Zhenzhen asked casually, “Is President Lu busy today?”

Lu Xingxue replied, “Somewhat.”

Jiang Ci almost choked on her water, and Huo Zhenzhen gave her a strange look. She continued to chat with Lu Xingxue, “The annual meeting is over, and you should be on holiday soon, right?”

Lu Xingxue smiled, “Yes.”

Huo Zhenzhen asked, “What about Ah-Ci? When will you take a break?”

Jiang Ci replied, “Today.”

Huo Zhenzhen clicked her tongue, “You disappear as soon as you take a break. I have to take the initiative to find you. What have you been busy with all day?”

Jiang Ci hesitated, and lowered her head, tucking her hair behind her ear. Her high-necked sweater loosened a bit, and Huo Zhenzhen noticed a mark on her neck.

After thinking for three seconds, Huo Zhenzhen was not entirely sure. She leaned in to get a closer look, but was surprised to find a strawberry mark on Jiang Ci’s ear.

Huo Zhenzhen was fuming inside.

Jiang Ci looked at her as she suddenly approached, not saying anything, and asked in confusion, “What’s wrong?”

Under the table, Huo Zhenzhen kicked Xiao A and said, “Didn’t you say you wanted to smoke? If you want to smoke, go ahead.”

Xiao A was guarding the pot of soup, which was about to boil. “Huh?”

Huo Zhenzhen gestured at him.

Xiao A said, “Uh, I’ll be right back.”

Xiao A went out to smoke. As soon as he left, Huo Zhenzhen moved to his spot and rubbed her neck in front of Jiang Ci as if nothing had happened.

Jiang Ci: “…”

Jiang Ci suddenly reacted and quickly covered her neck with both hands. Lu Xingxue was puzzled, “What’s wrong?”

Jiang Ci shook her head, “Nothing, nothing.”

“Is there something wrong with your neck?” Lu Xingxue naturally tried to move Jiang Ci’s chin to one side to look at her neck, but Jiang Ci pulled her hand down and blushed, “It’s okay!”

Their intimacy was so obvious that if someone still couldn’t understand it, they would be stupid. Huo Zhenzhen was so excited that she almost jumped up. After restraining her excitement, she looked at Jiang Ci and then at Lu Xingxue, raising her hand, “Can I ask a question?”

She was probably going to ask about the kiss marks. Jiang Ci said, “…Zhenzhen!”

Lu Xingxue said, “Sure.”

Huo Zhenzhen slapped the table and pointed at Lu Xingxue, saying to Jiang Ci, “See, my bestie is so considerate. So, I’ll ask my bestie.”

Lu Xingxue smiled and said, “Go ahead and ask.”

“Do you remember? Last time we were eating crawfish at my restaurant, we played a small game. And I’ve been thinking about the question that you two didn’t answer. I’ve been dying to know the answer.” Huo Zhenzhen tried to hold back her laughter. “Where was your first kiss? I mean, your very first kiss.”

“…………” Jiang Ci was speechless.

Lu Xingxue asked Jiang Ci, “Can I tell her?”

Jiang Ci forced a calm expression and said, “If we don’t say anything, I’m afraid she won’t let it go tonight.”

“Hahaha!” Huo Zhenzhen laughed so hard that she was afraid she might get kicked out by the waiters who came over to check on them.

Lu Xingxue paused for a moment before saying, “It was when Jiang Ci was drunk, and I kissed her secretly.”

Jiang Ci had been holding back her frustration for the entire duration of the hotpot meal. After parting ways with Huo Zhenzhen and the others outside the restaurant, she grabbed Lu Xingxue’s hand and asked her while they walked towards the outdoor parking lot, “…… Why didn’t you tell me?”

Lu Xingxue replied, “Tell you what?”

“About our first kiss,” said Jiang Ci.

Holding hands, Lu Xingxue turned her face away, her voice accompanied by the night wind blowing past Jiang Ci’s ear, “You weren’t sober at the time…”

Jiang Ci walked around to face Lu Xingxue, walking backwards, her watery eyes flashing at her.

Lu Xingxue smiled at the corners of her mouth and whispered, “Taking advantage of someone’s weakness, I can be embarrassed too.”
