Chapter 21
Chapter 21: An Zijin: Then is she a fox spirit?
“Then when are we getting married?”
When this earth-shattering line came out of An Zijin’s mouth without any warning, Su Ming’s entire body froze.
“Huh?”
This simple word perfectly described Su Ming’s dumbfounded state of mind.
Su Ming stared at An Zijin in shock, his head buzzing.
But An Zijin seemed to be saying something completely normal as she continued, “I’m Big Brother Su Ming’s person, right?”
An Zijin’s meaning was clear. She was telling Su Ming that this was basically the same as a marriage proposal.
“No, no.”
Su Ming was panicking. The corner of his eyes were twitching, and he felt a mess inside.
There was nothing he could do about it. It was just…so sudden!
How did they end up talking about marriage after chatting for a while?
Was it him? Or was it this little neighbour of his?
“What?” An Zijin stared at Su Ming’s face, watching his confused expression. A layer of mist suddenly appeared in her beautiful eyes. “So Big Brother Su Ming still doesn’t like me?”
Seeing An Zijin on the verge of tears, Su Ming desperately shook his head.
“I’m not! I didn’t! Don’t say that!”
His three-part response did nothing to calm An Zijin’s sadness.
“Then does Big Brother Su Ming not like me?”
An Zijin looked at Su Ming with tears in her eyes, ready to cry her heart out.
“I didn’t say that either?” Su Ming didn’t know what to say. He only felt his scalp go numb.
“If Big Brother Su Ming doesn’t dislike me and isn’t disgusted by me, then why does it seem like he doesn’t want to marry me?”
As An Zijin spoke, something seemed to occur to her. The tears in the corner of her eyes disappeared.
“I get it now. It’s because of Xu Qianqian, right?” An Zijin mumbled. “A lot of people said Xu Qianqian is very pretty and beautiful. She came to see Big Brother Su Ming yesterday too, so Big Brother Su Ming likes that Xu Qianqian.”
An Zijin’s tone of voice was inexplicably frightening as she said this. That emotionless voice made Su Ming’s heart skip a beat.
That wasn’t all.
The most frightening thing was An Zijin’s charming face becoming expressionless. Her eyes, which were usually full of life, had completely lost their glow.
She was like a lifeless mannequin muttering to herself. “Xu Qianqian, Xu Qianqian. Looks like she’s someone I can’t ignore.”
“If I’d known earlier, I would have come to find Big Brother Su Ming sooner. That way she wouldn’t have had the chance to get close to him.”
“How could she do this?”
“I came first, and Big Brother Su Ming and I promised each other when we were little. She suddenly showed up and is meddling with us. Is she trying to destroy my relationship with Big Brother Su Ming?”
“She must be a fox spirit, right? Right?”
An Zijin kept going on like this, her eyes devoid of light. It was like she was chanting some sort of curse, making it especially terrifying.
Su Ming couldn’t help but take a step back, his face full of fear.
Su Ming unconsciously swallowed and, as if he was trying to stop some terrifying existence from being unleashed, shakily placed a hand on An Zijin’s shoulder.
“Xiao Zijin, what’s wrong? Wake up! Your persona is about to collapse!”
Su Ming shook An Zijin.
“Big Brother Su Ming?”
An Zijin seemed to have heard Su Ming’s voice. After being shaken for a while, she came back to her senses and looked at Su Ming. Her eyes, which had lost their lustre, regained their brightness.
“What is it? Big Brother Su Ming?”
An Zijin looked at Su Ming in a slightly strange manner, as if nothing had happened. Her head tilted, as cute as always.
“N-nothing”
Su Ming didn’t seem to be happy to see the normal An Zijin. Instead, he swallowed another mouthful of saliva.
“Strange Big Brother Su Ming.”
An Zijin seemed to really think Su Ming was very strange and odd. She smiled with her eyes curved.
Unfortunately, no matter how cute her smile was, it couldn’t dispel the strange feeling in Su Ming’s heart.
Now, there was only one thought in Su Ming’s mind.
What exactly did this child go through during these ten years?!
How did she become so scary?
Su Ming quickly changed the topic. “Um, Xiao Jin, why don’t you go back to your dormitory first?”
Su Ming hurriedly suggested this.
“Why?” An Zijin was taken aback at first, but then her eyes began to swell up with tears. “We’ve just reunited, and you’re already trying to chase me away?”
“That’s not it.” The corner of Su Ming’s mouth twitched as he patiently explained himself. “It’s just that I need to hide from the people in the academy properly. It won’t be easy for me to run if you’re with me.”
“I see.” Only then did An Zijin’s expression brighten up like the sky after a rainstorm. “It’s fine. I’ll explain everything properly to everyone, so don’t worry, Big Brother Su Ming.”
Su Ming was speechless.
Don’t you still not understand? That’s what worries me the most!
Su Ming wanted to say this, but he managed to stop himself just in time.
He had already realised that this little neighbour sister who was incredibly sweet and obedient when she was little might have grown up a little crooked. She was no longer the little darling who could speak freely with him without any reservations, but rather a little troublemaker who could drag him into a ditch at any moment.
Her threat to him might even be greater than Xu Qianqian’s.
At least Xu Qianqian would only cause Su Ming trouble, not bring him death. But this little sister of his had threatened Su Ming’s personal safety within the first few minutes of their reunion.
These two so-called campus beauties were both nothing but trouble.
One was an ignorant female vampire, the other a hidden danger waiting to explode.
Zhang Wuji’s mother was right. The prettier the woman, the less you could trust them!
Having realised this, Su Ming could only exhaust himself with words, trying to persuade An Zijin back to her dorm while begging her not to say “I’m Big Brother Su Ming’s” if anyone asked about this matter.
It wasn’t for any other reason; it was for his own safety.
Although An Zijin was somewhat unwilling, Su Ming’s words seemed to be quite effective on her.
Thus, under the persuasion of Su Ming’s silver tongue, An Zijin could only obediently agree to everything. After exchanging contact information and promising to stay in touch, she turned around and left, looking back every few steps.
Su Ming watched An Zijin leave, a smile on his face as he held his phone. However, that smile looked forced no matter how you looked at it.
Once An Zijin’s figure disappeared completely from Su Ming’s sight, he turned his head and ran out of the academy without hesitation.
This world isn’t worth it. I shouldn’t stay here anymore.
Su Ming quietly left the academy while calling his teacher to ask for his first vacation of the year.
“My perfect attendance is gone.”
Su Ming stood at the entrance of the academy and watched the still bustling campus. He was speechless for a long time.
Who would have thought that something so ridiculous would be the thing to break his perfect streak?
“I hope those guys will have calmed down by the time I get back.”
Otherwise, Su Ming would have no choice but to sleep on the streets.
On the other hand,
After parting with Su Ming, An Zijin didn’t return to the dorms. Instead, she continued to hide in a corner and stare at the contact information she had just saved on her phone. A dazed expression appeared on her impossibly cute face.
A few seconds later, An Zijin smiled.
She laughed foolishly.
“I can finally be with Big Brother Su Ming again!”
“And I even got Big Brother Su Ming’s contact information!”
“Heh heh. Heh heh heh.”
As An Zijin laughed, she even unconsciously drooled.
If the fans who admired An Zijin had seen this sight, their worldview would have shattered, and their eyes would have been blinded.
Fortunately, only one person had seen this version of An Zijin.
“Who are you?”
An Zijin jolted and shot up from her seat in a sudden and surprised voice.
Only then did she realise that someone had appeared in front of her without her noticing.
The person was tall, slender, and had snow-white skin. They had an ethereal air about them, like a young lady from a wealthy family who had gone out incognito. They were elegant and noble, making An Zijin feel stunned for a moment.
But very quickly, An Zijin recognized this person.
“Are you Senior Sister Xu Qianqian?”
An Zijin’s eyes flickered.
Yes, the person who had appeared was indeed Xu Qianqian.
And of course, Xu Qianqian had also recognized An Zijin, who had been making a name for herself recently.
“Are you the Warlock Division’s An Zijin?” Xu Qianqian asked.
“I am,” An Zijin nodded and admitted it.
However, An Zijin’s attitude was somewhat cold, even carrying a hint of hostility.
This was quite surprising.
Normally, An Zijin would always act polite and well-mannered in front of others. Countless seniors and juniors alike had fallen in love with her because of this.
But now, not only had An Zijin changed her usual mannerisms, she had become aggressive.
“Why is my Senior Sister here?” An Zijin asked quietly.
“Nothing.” Perhaps Xu Qianqian sensed something. She gave An Zijin a deep look. “I don’t know why, but the school seems to be in a bit of an uproar lately. Some small-time characters have been targeting me again, so naturally I don’t want to get caught up in some random commotion and give them an opportunity to strike.”
Xu Qianqian was avoiding being targeted by those with ulterior motives, so she’d been hiding in some obscure corner of the school.
Meeting An Zijin here was purely coincidental.
However, An Zijin didn’t think so.
“Senior Sister is here for Big Brother Su Ming, right?”
An Zijin actually said such words.
“Su Ming?”
Xu Qianqian frowned.
