I Obviously Just Want to be a Minor Character

Chapter 22

Chapter 22: Xu Qianqian: Do you and Su Ming have a marriage contract?

Xu Qianqian was quite surprised.

She was really quite surprised.

She didn’t know about the hottest news of the day, so she never expected to hear Su Ming’s name from this popular and new school beauty.

Furthermore, from the sounds of it, An Zijin seemed to have a very special relationship with Su Ming.

After all, if their relationship was normal, how could An Zijin call Su Ming “Big Brother”?

So, Xu Qianqian’s first thought upon hearing An Zijin’s words was not anything else but surprise.

“Do you know Su Ming?” Xu Qianqian asked curiously.

According to Xu Qianqian’s knowledge, Su Ming was extremely low-key in the academy. He had been hiding his strength since he enrolled and had never received much attention. His presence was as low as an ordinary student’s.

If Xu Qianqian hadn’t gone to visit Su Ming and caused him to be noticed by many people, when someone asked about Su Ming, most people in the academy would only respond with “Who?”

Xu Qianqian was suddenly quite interested in this Su Ming. She had heard that he was someone who could not be matched in popularity, even more so than herself. Countless people viewed her as a princess.

Little did she know that her interest was another sign that would make An Zijin unhappy.

Just as Xu Qianqian had heard of An Zijin, An Zijin had also heard of this goddess Senior Sister with her bright halo.

Unlike Xu Qianqian, who didn’t like to pay attention to unimportant news and rarely even visited the school forums, An Zijin was no different from any other gossiping girl. She often paid attention to things on the internet.

On top of that, everyone had compared Xu Qianqian to her since the beginning of school, so it would have been impossible for An Zijin to not know about her.

And while most of what An Zijin knew about Xu Qianqian came from others’ mouths, the thing that left the deepest impression on her was Xu Qianqian’s famous aloofness.

Not many people had confessed to this goddess Senior Sister, but every single one of them had been shot down so hard that they’d questioned their own existence. As a result, although many people admired her, very few dared to confess to her. No one dared to pursue her outright.

The Demon-Hunting Academy’s top student, Li Wei-xiansheng, was a fourth-year student. He was handsome and had an extraordinary family background, and his strength was enough to earn him the first place spot in the entire academy. Even professional hunters who had just started out could not compare to him. Yet this young man had openly declared his pursuit of Xu Qianqian, but Xu Qianqian had never even given him a glance, much less a direct response.

Even the girls couldn’t get any better treatment than the boys.

At least, since her enrollment, no one other than her servants, assistants, or maids had ever been able to get close to Xu Qianqian and go in and out with her.

This goddess Senior Sister didn’t have many friends, let alone best friends. It seemed that only a handful of people had any sort of relationship with her.

Because of this, all sorts of rumours about Xu Qianqian flew around the Demon-Hunting Academy. Even rumours about her being cold-hearted had appeared.

Yet this goddess Senior Sister, who was as cold as they came, seemed to have taken an interest in Su Ming. How could An Zijin be happy about that?

On top of that, this person had even rushed over to find Big Brother Su Ming before An Zijin did. She had flirted with him and even given him a little note.

These past two days, An Zijin had been thinking about what was written on that little slip of paper.

A phone number? Home address? Or the hotel’s location?

At this thought, An Zijin felt her blood run cold.

A fox spirit!

An Zijin immediately wanted to say her catchphrase, which she had been saying for ten years: “I’m Big Brother Su Ming’s.”

But as soon as she thought of Su Ming’s warning, An Zijin couldn’t open her mouth.

An Zijin had never disobeyed Su Ming’s words. Whether it was when they were young or now, even during the ten years they were apart, An Zijin had never broken an agreement with Su Ming, nor had she ever done anything that might make him dislike her.

If that weren’t the case, An Zijin wouldn’t have made that line her catchphrase.

It was because Su Ming had told An Zijin that if anyone tried to get close to her or play with her, she could say that line. That was why An Zijin did it, and she’d been doing it for ten years.

Now that Su Ming didn’t want An Zijin to say it anymore and she’d already agreed to it, she definitely wouldn’t do it again.

After pondering for a while, An Zijin decided to change her line.

“Big Brother Su Ming and I have been in a lifelong relationship since we were young. We’re not just friends!”

An Zijin was extremely satisfied with herself after saying this. This way, she wouldn’t have to break her promise with Big Brother Su Ming, and she could better assert her authority to others. It was the perfect way to explain her relationship with Big Brother Su Ming. It was simply too perfect.

She decided! From now on, this would be her new catchphrase!

Xu Qianqian, who didn’t know An Zijin’s thoughts, was surprised.

“Lifelong relationship?” Xu Qianqian said in shock. “You and Su Ming are engaged?”

To Xu Qianqian, having an engagement since childhood wasn’t something worth being surprised about.

As the daughter of the Xu Family, Xu Qianqian had seen countless cases of arranged marriage, from childhood betrothal to marriage by proxy. She had also seen many cases of family marriage alliances. In this kind of environment, Xu Qianqian didn’t doubt that Su Ming and An Zijin had made a lifelong commitment to each other.

What surprised Xu Qianqian was that the low-key Su Ming actually had such a pretty fiancée.

His fiancée had become the most popular person in the academy and the new campus beauty, yet Su Ming hadn’t shown any signs of appearing. Was he going to just watch as so many people called his fiancée “wife” every day?

This is a little too much of a Minor character, don’t you think?

“I’ve never heard him mention that.” Xu Qianqian turned to An Zijin and suddenly asked, “Then has he ever mentioned anything about me and him to you?”

Xu Qianqian wanted to know if An Zijin knew about her transaction with Su Ming.

Her mission and current situation were not things she could speak of to just anyone.

If Su Ming had told An Zijin about these things, Xu Qianqian felt she needed to pay more attention to An Zijin’s actions.

Xu Qianqian didn’t realise how serious her words sounded to An Zijin.

“What’s going on between you and Big Brother Su Ming?”

An Zijin’s heart sank. Could it be that this fox really had some sort of unspeakable relationship with Brother Su Ming?

This thought made An Zijin grit her teeth and glare at Xu Qianqian.

Xu Qianqian raised an eyebrow at the sight. It seemed that this new goddess didn’t know about her transaction with Su Ming.

Knowing this, Xu Qianqian relaxed.

“If you’re interested, you can ask Su Ming yourself.” Xu Qianqian said to An Zijin. “Of course, I suggest you don’t. The things between us are not something you can just intervene in.”

No matter what, An Zijin was only a new student. Even if she was the top student among the new students, as a first-year student, her strength couldn’t be that high.

If such an An Zijin carelessly intervened in Su Ming and Xu Qianqian’s missions, she would undoubtedly be courting death.

Based on this thought, Xu Qianqian gave this piece of advice.

But Xu Qianqian’s blunt and cold mannerisms, which she didn’t hesitate to speak without considering others’ feelings, had a very bad effect on An Zijin.

“Senior Sister, are you declaring war on me?”

An Zijin was silent for a moment before she slowly spoke.

Xu Qianqian’s expression changed slightly.

At this moment, not only was there no emotion in An Zijin’s voice, there was no expression on her face either. Even her eyes were unfocused, and a chilling aura spread out from her.

Of course, this wasn’t the reason why Xu Qianqian’s expression changed.

The real reason why Xu Qianqian’s expression suddenly changed was because of the changes that had appeared on An Zijin’s body.

A series of faint, strange lines suddenly appeared on An Zijin’s body, then vanished just as quickly.

The lines appeared for only a brief moment.

But in that brief moment, Xu Qianqian felt as if her blood was boiling, and her entire body trembled with heat.

Xu Qianqian was no stranger to this feeling.

Although it was rare, she had felt the same thing on a very few people before.

Xu Qianqian knew exactly what this feeling meant.

And when it appeared on An Zijin’s body, she knew exactly what it meant.

“So you’re actually.”

Xu Qianqian’s gaze toward An Zijin had already changed. It became stern, serious, and incomparably sharp.

An Zijin acted as if she hadn’t heard anything. She only coldly looked at Xu Qianqian, and the terrifying aura emanating from her grew stronger and stronger.

This made Xu Qianqian unconsciously activate the illusion magic within her body, and her eyes glowed with a scarlet light.

The atmosphere between the two became more and more heavy and oppressive, like a powder keg about to explode. Even the air around them trembled.

Just as the two were about to explode, a few voices came from the other side of the path.

“Let’s go search over here.”

“Maybe Su Ming is hiding over here.”

“Hurry up and search. We’ll dig up the earth if we have to.”

“Damn, I don’t know where Su Ming took Junior Sister An to.”

“But she better not do anything stupid! Junior Sister An!”

“Junior Sister An isn’t that kind of person!”

As soon as these voices came from afar, Xu Qianqian and An Zijin both snapped out of it and looked at each other.

They glanced at the figures walking toward them from afar, then looked back at each other. Without any warning, they parted ways and left.

As they brushed past each other, a short conversation occurred.

“You hid pretty well, Junior Sister.”

“We’ll meet again, Senior Sister.”

With this exchange, the two parted ways and disappeared.

Nobody knew that the two goddesses of the academy had already crossed paths.

And we’re now on the opposite sides.
