Chapter 42.2
The nanny car drove through the vast park and soon stopped in front of a spacious villa.
In front of the villa was a garden, surrounded by a fence. Outside the fence, a group of staff stood on the clean road. The woman at the front wore a megaphone around her neck and was waiting.
The nanny car slowly came to a stop, and all the staff immediately became alert. The leading woman quickly looked up.
“Bang.”
Xu Heran closed the door of the nanny car and burst into laughter. “Sister Liu!”
She rushed over and grabbed the woman’s hand, “Why are you here? Could it be, our director for the variety show is Sister Liu?”
The woman smiled warmly. “I’m not Sister Liu, I’m Little Liu.”
Xu Heran immediately exclaimed, “Wow!”
“Sister Liu is Director Liu’s daughter,” the accompanying director told Xu Heran as they got out of the car.
Xu Heran’s eyes widened.
“Wow—”
“Keep it low-key, it’s just a case of following in her father’s footsteps.” The assistant director of 《Starlight Girls》, now SGS variety show director Little Liu, humbly waved her hand.
“We’re really so fortunate!” Xu Heran immediately hugged her shoulders, “Treat us well!”
The new director Liu smiled warmly, looking very gentle.
“Please wait here, for your teammates. You will enter your new home together,” the director said, instructing Xu Heran to sit on the white bench at the entrance and rest.
“Okay.” Xu Heran sat down immediately and moved her bag to the side.
“You brought so few belongings?” the director asked in surprise.
Xu Heran scratched her head. “I had too many things, and Sister Cui helped me pack. They should be all at home.”
She glanced at the villa behind her.
“Unless something unexpected happens, I’ll be living here in Huacheng. I still have many things I love in the Blue Country, so I had my younger brother pack them and bring them over.”
The director nodded.
The air in the forest park was fresh, with clear bird calls and a distant lake. This park used to be a mountainous area, backed by a large mountain and near a big river, overlooking the city. It was in the newly developed area of Haicheng.
“Ah, so comfortable~”
Xu Heran opened her arms, stretched out her long legs, and yawned lazily.
The staff’s eyes kept glancing at her, sighing in their hearts each time. How could someone grow up so well? Why were there people in the world who looked good from every angle?
Xu Heran didn’t have to wait long. A nanny car stopped by the side of the road not far away. She quickly got up, but as soon as she saw who got out of the car, she sat back down.
“Xu Pearl!!” Jiang Qiong shouted excitedly, “This place is way too big!”
While shouting, she grabbed a bag from the car and went to the trunk to retrieve a suitcase.
Xu Heran: “… Are you moving?”
With a sigh, she got up and walked over to help Jiang Qiong with the suitcase. Jiang Qiong was all smiles, carrying one on her shoulder, dragging a suitcase in her hand, another suitcase on top of that one, and holding a big bag with a certain down jacket logo on it.
“Aren’t we going to live here from now on? I had to bring everything,” Jiang Qiong arranged her things, picked up the bag, and whispered, “I had my mom prepare some delicious food specifically. Let me tell you, I’ve noticed in variety shows that they often don’t provide meals or they have to eat buns if they fail a mission. We need to be prepared in advance.”
What? They don’t provide meals?
Xu Heran immediately looked at the director.
The director still had a smile on her face, as if she hadn’t heard anything.
As Jian Yueyin’s and Haya’s cars arrived at the same time, both of them had fewer belongings. However, the one who arrived later, Song Fenghua, surprisingly had quite a few bags. Xu Heran genuinely asked, “What do you all have?”
“Did you guys bring blankets? Sister Cui will prepare blankets for us.”
Song Fenghua blushed a bit, “It’s just that they piled up while packing.”
Jiang Qiong immediately nodded.
I don’t want to overpack, but I think this stuff could come in handy!
Xu Heran stood up and started counting heads—six people. Her eyes lit up.
Before long, another black nanny car arrived, and the six girls sitting neatly on the bench turned their heads together to look. The car door opened, and Lin Weining sat inside, surprised, “Hmm, is this the place?”
“Sister Weining!”
Xu Heran quickly waved, “Come over, come over.”
“Am I going to live with you, Little Pearl? But I’m not a member of SGS…” Lin Weining repeatedly confirmed with the accompanying director.
“That’s right, Sister Cui had us bring you here,” the accompanying director said.
“What are you saying? Get out of the car.” Haya peeked her head out and went to the trunk to help Lin Weining with her luggage.
“Thank you.” Lin Weining said with embarrassment, gripping Haya’s sleeve and whispering, “Am I here to shoot the variety show with you guys today, or…”
“I think this house is pretty big, there’s room for one more.” Haya said with a giggling smile.
Lin Weining was a bit confused and surprised. She was afraid she was overthinking things and planned to ask Cui Qi later.
“It’s only Nuo Nuo left!” Xu Heran cheerfully raised her arm, “Nuo Nuo is too slow!”
“You don’t understand, this is called stealing the spotlight.” Jiang Qiong said with a playful smile.
Xu Heran immediately nodded, “Yes, yes, yes, Nuo Nuo is stealing the spotlight. And I’m stealing Nuo Nuo. We all have a bright future!”
Everyone: “…”
Where’s Sister Cui!
Xin Nuo, Xin Nuo, hurry up!
As Xin Nuo was late to arrive, Xu Heran kept looking at her watch. Just as everyone was getting worried if something went wrong, a black nanny car drove through the forest path and stopped amidst everyone’s cheers.
From the house, Cui Qi walked out through a side door, standing behind the program staff, arms crossed, looking at the nanny car.
“Bang.”
The door of the nanny car opened, and a tall, slender girl extended her smooth legs. Her clean sneakers touched the green road surface. She was wearing a white shirt and a blue low-waisted suspender skirt. The shirt was loose, and the bubble sleeves fluttered lightly. The hem of the shirt was tucked into the suspender skirt. The suspender skirt’s waist was cinched, revealing the girl’s delicate waist completely.
Xu Heran shouted happily, “Nuo Nuo!”
“Yeah.”
Xin Nuo had her back turned to them, packing her bag. Upon hearing Xu Heran’s voice, she responded and turned around with a smile.
In that moment, just like in a slow-motion scene from an idol drama, everything seemed to slow down. The girl’s smooth black hair swayed behind her, her fair and beautiful face adorned with a gentle smile. Her pitch-black eyes met Xu Heran’s gaze, and she instinctively squinted her eyes.
“Wow—”
Everyone who witnessed this scene exclaimed.
Jian Yueyin said with a smile, “Great, the first exciting shot has appeared.”
“I’m getting moved.” Jiang Qiong covered her heart, “So captivating, with that first love look back and smile. I wonder how many hearts of young boys and girls she’s captured!”
Haya patted Jiang Qiong’s head, stopping her from getting carried away, “It depends on who Xin Nuo wants to capture. I think this Little Pearl is not bad.”
“Does the Little Pearl need to be captured?” Laurel asked.
Everyone fell silent.
“Does the Little Pearl even have a heart? Hasn’t it been carried to Xin Nuo’s palm a long time ago?”
Jian Yueyin nodded in agreement.
Song Fenghua silently propped her chin, quietly watching the two in the distance.
“You’re late!” Xu Heran said, looking for Xin Nuo’s luggage, “Is this the only bag you have?”
“Yeah, not much stuff.” Xin Nuo whispered.
“You can borrow mine.” Xu Heran suggested, “I can lend you anything. Oh, by the way, do you want to borrow my bed?”
Xin Nuo smiled gently, “No, thanks.”
They walked forward, and Xin Nuo exchanged a glance with the accompanying director. The director smiled and walked over to Cui Qi to speak.
“It’s you! Sister!” Xu Heran recognized Xin Nuo as the young camerawoman from the last two episodes of 《Starlight Girls》.
Xu Heran quickly shook hands with her.
With all eight girls gathered, the director raised the megaphone.
“SGS’s first season reality show officially begins filming. Our theme for this episode is moving into a new home. Please take your luggage, and we will enter your future homes. Here, you will walk hand in hand through the precious two years of your lives.”
“Yay!”
Xu Heran tilted her head back and looked at the villa behind the garden.
The villa was quite large, with light-colored exterior walls. The front garden was lush with a carefully curated arrangement of flowers.
“Don’t let my mom see it. If she does, she’ll definitely pull out the vegetable plants for you.” Haya pulled Lin Weining’s suitcase and said with a laugh.
“We don’t have anyone who can plant vegetables…” Lin Weining said softly, then exclaimed, “Ah!” and looked at Laurel.
With seven pairs of eyes simultaneously looking at her, Laurel rolled her eyes, “I’m not capable of going that far.”
“Hehehe, but you’re our Flower Empress!” Jiang Qiong laughed mischievously.
Xu Heran chimed in, “Yeah, Flower Empress and garden, a good match, both surnamed ‘Flower’.”
“Thanks, but I’m not surnamed ‘Flower’.”
“Yeah, yeah, your surname is Gui.” Xu Heran nodded.
Laurel: “…”
Today’s a good day.
Oh well.
The group arrived at the door, and Jian Yueyin, who was in the front, cautiously placed her hand on the door and tried turning it, but it didn’t budge.
“This is your first test. Please figure out a way to enter your new home on your own!” the director announced, holding up the megaphone.
Everyone: “???”
“Climb through a window?” Laurel suggested.
Haya immediately went to push the window, but it was tightly shut.
“Let’s take a look around,” Jian Yueyin commanded.
Everyone sprang into action, setting down their luggage and circling the villa. Meanwhile, Xin Nuo and Xu Heran stood at the door trying to guess the password.
“Debut date?” Xin Nuo asked.
Xu Heran replied, “Give it a try.”
The two of them tried various combinations, including the formation night, debut date, and the filming and broadcasting dates of the reality show.
“Eight digits, so long?” Xu Heran remarked.
As they were trying the password, the remaining six members returned.
“Wow, it’s huge! There’s a huge floor-to-ceiling window on the side, but the curtains are drawn, so I can’t see inside,” Jiang Qiong said.
Song Fenghua walked over, her voice cool, “All the doors and windows are locked.”
“Seems like they want us to guess the password,” Lin Weining said.
All eight of them stared at the silver door lock. This futuristic-looking lock was about the size of two palms, and the screen reflected their faces. Next to the buttons, there was also a fingerprint unlocking area.
“What’s the password?” Xu Heran said in frustration. She raised her hand and pressed her thumb against the fingerprint area.
“Chime.”
“Unlock successful, welcome home.”
Xu Heran: “…”
Others: “…”
Director: “…”
“What the heck!”
Haya grabbed Xu Heran’s hand and exclaimed, “Our home looks like this?”
“I have no idea!” Xu Heran shouted in agreement.
“Wait, can we try others’ fingerprints?”
Everyone immediately pressed their hands onto the door, trying one after another, but none worked.
“It seems like only Pearl’s fingerprint will work,” Xin Nuo said, “So the password must be Pearl’s birthday.”
Everyone suddenly realized.
“Of course, this is our Ranran’s birthday gift,” Jian Yueyin laughed.
Xin Nuo placed her finger on the buttons, “Pearl, what’s your birthday? Which day in June?”
Xu Heran replied seriously, “May 31, xx year.”
Xin Nuo entered the password, but it was incorrect.
“Hmm?”
Xin Nuo glanced at Xu Heran.
Coughing, Xu Heran said, “Then try June 2. How could it be wrong?”
“Okay.”
Xin Nuo nodded and entered the password.
“Chime.”
“Unlock successful, welcome home.”
Xu Heran widened her eyes.
“So the password is xx0602?” Jiang Qiong mentally noted the password.
“No,” Xin Nuo calmly opened the door, walking into the room first. Her composed voice reached everyone’s ears, “It’s 0601.”
“…”
“Hahaha!”
“Hahahahaha!”
Jiang Qiong laughed so hard she almost flung herself out.
“You were born on Children’s Day?”
Xu Heran was frustrated, slinging her bag and catching up to Xin Nuo.
Others laughed too.
“No wonder Little Pearl is so cute.”
The cute Little Pearl rolled her eyes.
“What’s wrong with being born on Children’s Day? There are so many people born on Children’s Day around the world. You’re discriminating against us!”
“We dare not!” Jiang Qiong pleaded, “We’re just discriminating against you.”
Seeing that the two were about to start a battle, Xin Nuo grabbed Xu Heran’s collar, “They’re praising you for being cute.”
Xu Heran huffed angrily, using her skills across the aisle against Jiang Qiong.
“With this move, you’re already done for!”
“Heh, I have a resurrection item!”
The director quickly raised the megaphone, “Congratulations, everyone, on successfully entering your new home. Now, please gather in the living room.”
Xu Heran was pulled by Xin Nuo’s collar, retreating and engaging in a pretend battle with Jiang Qiong from a distance.
The group took off their shoes and stepped onto the light marble floor with pale patterns.
“Hum—”
The curtains of the French windows slowly opened, allowing the September morning sunlight to pour in. The entire living room was bright, with a high ceiling adorned with a modern-style chandelier.
“Wow!” Jiang Qiong almost dropped her bag.
“Wow—”
Everyone marveled.
The modern-style living room was infused with the girls’ aesthetics, from the curtain colors and sofa styles to the decor and wall lamps, all reflecting a feminine touch.
The living room was spacious, designed with future filming in mind.
“Ah, our children have grown up!”
Jian Yueyin’s mouth slightly agape, she looked around and said with a smile, “It’s wonderful.”
“Yes.”
The sofa in the living room was spacious, wide enough for two Xu Herans to lie side by side. The smaller sofas on the sides were also large, accommodating all eight of them with room to spare.
In front of the sofas was a snow-white table, and a soft carpet covered the floor, providing a cozy spot for the girls to sit and chat. Directly facing the sofa was a large LCD TV hanging on the wall, and to their left was the full-length window that dominated the living room.
The garden and the distant forest were all within their sight.
Among the eight people, except for Xu Heran, Xin Nuo, and Haya, the others sat somewhat restrained on the sofa.
“This is your future home, and you’re all family,” the director said gently.
Xu Heran clapped, “We’re family! I want to be a dad!”
She pulled Xin Nuo close, “This is my wife!”
Xin Nuo: “…”
Others: “…”
There’s no need to hold back laughter; just laugh it off.
“Are you done? Climbing the ranks isn’t that easy!” Jiang Qiong retorted, “Besides, aren’t you the youngest here? No matter how you calculate it, you’re still the youngest.”
Xu Heran: “!”
“I’m tall!”
Haya remained composed, “If family hierarchy were based on height, I think I’d have a place too.”
Xu Heran immediately remarked, “Don’t you only have 173?”
“Or are you admitting you’re five centimeters taller than 173?” Xu Heran asked with a mischievous grin. Although everyone knew she was five centimeters taller than 173, Haya refused to acknowledge it: “…”
“Ahem.” Haya gave up participating in the parent competition.
Laurel lazily raised her hand, “For me, it’s about cooking skills. If someone surpasses me in cooking, I’ll admit she’s the mom.”
“Clothing is the father, food is the mother, so you should be the mother,” Jian Yueyin chuckled.
Laurel thought for a moment, “That works too.”
The main thing is the hierarchy being set.
Song Fenghua raised an eyebrow, “Strict father, kind mother.”
“You’re a stern father, but I can be a warm mother. Yueyin and Weining, do you want a strict father or do you want to be embraced from both sides?” Jiang Qiong said with a playful smile.
Song Fenghua: “…”
She leaned back on the sofa, glanced at the radiant smile of Xu Heran from the corner of her eye, chuckled softly, shook her head.
“I withdraw.”
Haya breathed a sigh of relief and immediately raised her hand, “I can try the strict father role!”
“Weren’t you just withdrawing?” Lin Weining said with a smile.
Haya spread her hands and leaned on the sofa, “I mainly wanted to experience being embraced from both sides, hehe.”
Jian Yueyin immediately said, “I like someone dedicated. Who’s dedicated?”
Xu Heran spoke earnestly, “I am a Pearl.”
“Hahaha, Yueyin, Xu Pearl rejects you! She doesn’t want you as her wife! Can you endure that?” Jiang Qiong sowed discord.
“Alas, it’s heartbreaking.” Jian Yueyin said, “But Pearl’s heart is set on Nuo Nuo.”
In this battle for family roles, the hidden Xin Nuo was pointed out by Haya, “Let Xin Nuo choose.”
“Xin Nuo is very fair.”
The impartial Xin Nuo calmly said, “I choose to be the neighbor next door.”
Please don’t involve me in your complicated emotional dynamics, thank you.
Xu Heran immediately raised her hand, “Then I’ll be the secretly admiring neighbor next door…”
Everyone held back their laughter, waiting for her to finish her sentence.
Realizing she had fallen into a trap, Xu Heran quickly lowered her hand, “Forget it, hmph!”
The director sat on the floor, laughing as she watched them naturally create comedic moments without any guidance. As Xu Heran’s voice fell, she quickly jumped in to change the topic, temporarily diverting their attention from the family hierarchy.
“We’ve arrived at our new home. Before touring the house, let me introduce the layout of the new place.”
“To welcome our eight idols, the house has been pre-arranged. This villa is the tower of the Global Forest Villa Area, with two floors underground and four floors above, totaling 1,200 square meters.”
“How much?” Jiang Qiong rubbed her ear.
Jian Yueyin and Lin Weining exchanged a glance, seeing the shock in each other’s eyes. Laurel held her trembling hand, and Song Fenghua’s expression… Song Fenghua’s expression conveyed her astonishment.
“So spacious.” Xin Nuo suddenly smiled, holding Xu Heran’s hand, “Quick, secretly admire me, neighbor.”
Xu Heran exaggerated her distress, “You’ve changed, you’re actually bowing to the house. Speak up, do you like me or the house!”
“Ah…” Xin Nuo frowned, “That’s a tough choice.”
“I choose the house.” Xin Nuo’s tone playfully rose as she deliberately spoke.
Lin Weining chuckled, “Well, I choose the house.”
“Who wouldn’t like Little Pearl?….. I also choose the house.”
“The house!”
“…”
Little Pearl laid down on the sofa in sorrow, expressing her disappointment with the world. If no one apologized to her, she wouldn’t get up!
The director smiled warmly and continued, “The villa has a total of 8 bedrooms, 3 living rooms, 8 bathrooms, and other functional rooms. The second underground floor is a parking lot and swimming pool. The first underground floor has a family theater, a walk-in closet room, and a game room. The first above-ground floor includes two living rooms, a kitchen, dining room, and gym. The top floor has a music room, practice room, sunroom, and terrace.”
“As for the second and third floors, they consist of 8 bedrooms and 4 small dressing rooms. Every two bedrooms share one dressing room, and the dressing rooms connect two bedrooms. Now, here comes the key part,” the director smiled slightly, “Next, please choose your future roommate who will share the dressing room with you.”
On the sofa, a certain Pearl stood up abruptly.
She felt that she could do it again!
