Chapter 29.2
Lost in her random thoughts, Xu Heran followed Xin Nuo’s strength and lowered her body, her face coming into contact with Xin Nuo’s. She turned her head slightly as their faces met, her chin resting on Xin Nuo’s slender shoulder, and her nose gently bumped against Xin Nuo’s cheek.
She simply pressed herself onto Xin Nuo.
The summer clothing was thin, and a continuous stream of warmth flowed through the points where their bodies pressed against each other, sending a deep warmth to their skin. The central air conditioning in the ceiling sent out a cool breeze, blowing over their exposed skin. Having eaten her fill, Xu Heran felt a hint of drowsiness. She caught a whiff of the fragrance of Xin Nuo’s perfume at her neck and was tempted to close her eyes, maintaining this position and taking a satisfying nap.
“Heavy,” Xin Nuo complained, murmuring as her eyelids grew heavy.
In the gaps between her breaths, Xu Heran caught a whiff of a sweet fruity scent.
“Oh, right.”
Xu Heran suddenly remembered that Sister Cui had opened a bottle of low-alcohol fruit wine to stay awake. As for Xin Nuo, she usually abstained from alcohol, but tonight, in a good mood and upon Sister Cui’s recommendation, she had tasted a small glass.
The culprit responsible for making Nuo Nuo act strangely had been found.
The one behind Nuo Nuo’s odd behavior.
Could it really be because of this?
Xu Heran smiled upon discovering Xin Nuo’s “weakness,” her chest trembling, causing Xin Nuo’s body to tremble slightly as well. Xin Nuo raised her hand and lightly patted Xu Heran’s back.
“Don’t move,” her voice was almost a murmur, a dissatisfied complaint.
Xu Heran was also sleepy. She asked, “Should we sleep here?”
Xin Nuo thought to say why they should not, they had to wake up early for recording in the morning, but she really didn’t want to move. However, she struggled for a while, but her throat couldn’t produce any sound.
Forget it.
She thought and sank into deep darkness.
Xu Heran made an effort to open her eyelids, sliding to the side. With one hand, she unbuttoned her coat, draped it over Xin Nuo, then lifted a corner of the coat and slipped inside, hugging Xin Nuo’s body.
Her thoughts began to blur, her chin pressed tightly against Xin Nuo’s shoulder. The two of them were like two pieces of a tightly stitched puzzle, pressed closely together. Xu Heran made an effort to open her eyelids, looking at Xin Nuo’s profile with a sense of contentment, like a child who had received a sweet reward, satisfied and happy.
Xin Nuo’s breath was shallow, her lips tinted with a moist red from the wine, like a red velvet cake covered in cream, emitting a hint of tempting sweetness.
“…”
In Xu Heran’s drowsy mind, thoughts of the kiss through the blanket in the car suddenly surfaced, along with the question that had been lingering and bothering her.
Did the kiss through the blanket count as a kiss?
The girl lying obediently beside Xin Nuo stared absentmindedly, her gaze fixed on the source of the sweet scent.
If it didn’t count… should it be made up for?
Perhaps it was due to the reliance on a friend, or maybe it was the comfortable room temperature, or perhaps it was the gentle arrival of the night. The courage hidden within someone quietly grew and expanded as its owner slightly moved.
In the subtly luxurious room, the wall sconces emitted a soft light that wasn’t glaring, casting a straight beam of light. Thus, when the girl on the floor rose, her slender shadow followed the light and fell on the wall.
The person enticed lowered her head, gently brushing against the soft spot.
That shadow followed, leaning down.
A kiss.
Two shadows turning into one.
On the internet, discussions about Xu Heran and Xin Nuo gradually surfaced, and a blogger started a dedicated Weibo hashtag: #StarlightGirlsBreakingOutCollage#.
“Having some free time, I decided to review the past moments of Starlight Girls, and I stumbled upon something interesting. Has anyone collected photos of Starlight Girls breaking out so far? I did a bit of research to see if it matches, according to the airing episodes.
Xu Heran’s first proud expression—At that time, due to her divine looks and mesmerizing eye color, she instantly boosted the show’s popularity. Although people didn’t quite like Little Pearl’s personality back then, we have to admit that when this photo first appeared, many were amazed.
Xin Nuo’s performance on stage, smiling at her reflection in the mirror—This performance directly pushed Nuo Nuo to the fourth-place throne. Need I explain more about our Nuo Nuo? She’s undoubtedly one of the divine faces of Starlight Girls!
Lin Weining’s stage performance, an angel descending to earth—The trainees from Angel Entertainment are all angelic characters, and our precious angel is truly the epitome of angels. With her gentle personality, the selection standards of a big company are truly outstanding!”
After the apology incident involving Xu Heran, she smiles radiantly during the recording—The photo that went viral on various social media platforms, let’s just say that the camera was almost melting!
《Follow Me》 ending photo of the seven girls—A treasure combination, a single song propels the entire team to the next round. This makes the blogger suspect that the show’s producers buried many beautiful girls! Daily rant against the show’s producers!
Xinran Sisters’ “kiss” photo from 《Follow Me》—The divine image that led so many people into the Xinran Sisters pit! Every screen of the blogger’s electronic devices is filled with it! We really hope these two divine faces can stand together forever! Did you hear that, dog director? Make it clear that no reckless editing or mischief is allowed in advance!!
So, did anyone notice anything? Dog head.
Also, I want to complete the Nine Palaces Grid! Starlight Girls, let’s go! (Baby Goose1, charge ahead, Mama!!!)”
“I counted twice! Our precious Little Pearl occupies three and a half of them! Little Pearl, you rock! And at the time, the first princess was a real pain… But what relation does that old Xu Heran have with our Xu Little Pearl? / Dog head”
“Ah… can Xu Heran really join? I’m a bit worried…”
“Don’t worry! We have the Pearl-Slaying Knife! Feel free to join! If she dares to act stupid again, we’ll all step in together! Feasting on meat for the New Year!”
“She can really join. I suspect the former little princess was deliberately portrayed. But with Little Pearl’s intelligence, she can only come off that way. The current her is the real deal! Just in a different kind of silly way!”
“…The ones before, are they really Xu Heran’s fans?”
“Hahaha, my little girl is really silly and carefree. Onstage, it’s all a façade, but offstage, she’s a little devil. And she even has the guts to confront people she doesn’t like head-on. In the past, I’d get angry when I saw her roll her eyes, but now, seeing my little girl roll her eyes at that person from the Xing family, she rolls them so well! Do it again for Mama! In short, Xu Heran has looks, skills, and lots of mana-ni-ni. Whether you’re a face fan, a mom fan, or a career fan, you can all have high expectations. As for boyfriend and girlfriend fans… take a look at the number of mom fans. Maybe you should reconsider?”
“Yes, as a mom fan, I only recognize one daughter-in-law now, and it’s our Little Pearl who chose her herself. Our obedient goose is amazing. She knows it’s hard to find the right person, so she set it early for herself. It’s such a relief for Mama!”
“Nuo Nuo fans came uninvited. Although I really want to explain, seeing Nuo Nuo’s willing expression leaves me speechless and teary-eyed. Damn it, if only those two wouldn’t stick together in every shot, Nuo Nuo fans wouldn’t feel so insecure when talking!”
“Dear in-law~”
“Dear in-law, please accept this hardware, it’s a done deal. Please take a seat and have some tea. From now on, call me Pearl’s ‘Mom.’ We’ll be as close as family, no need to argue about where to spend the New Year. We’ll just wait to hold the baby in the future, and we’ll be all smiles.”
“………………”
“It’s you! Big Wet Person!”
“Cough, getting off track. Anyway, speaking of it, isn’t Nuo Nuo’s breakout moments a bit rare? That shouldn’t be the case.”
“Nuo Nuo usually has fewer expressions, she’s calm and quiet. The charm she displays on stage is completely different from her usual self. I think Nuo Nuo is a stage-type idol. If she appears on stage more times, her breakout moments should increase.”
“The frequency of Xu Heran’s appearances makes it seem like she’s breaking out easily. But when you think about it, among so many outstanding girls, it’s Xu Heran who stands out. Even if she dropped to 59 and subtracted a whopping 420,000 votes, she still managed to break a million votes during the fourth ranking! She soared to the fifth place in the rankings. Her popularity is unquestionable!”
“Little Pearl also has her own princess now. Please call me Captain of the Little Pearl Dragon Guard. I’ve seen Nuo Nuo’s fans considering changing their fan name from ‘Nuomi’ to ‘Dragon Guard’ because they feel ‘Dragon Guard’ sounds more domineering!”
“And there’s this matter too?”
“Wuwuwu, Mama just hopes that Little Pearl can be well-behaved and not anger her sister, and have a successful debut!”
“What will happen if you anger your sister?”
“Wuwuwu, I’ll get beaten.”
“…”
Xu Heran felt a pain in her cheek, and she raised her hand to pat the source of the pain. With a “smack,” her palm landed on her own face.
A light laughter drifted through the air.
Her Little Pearl, who was hitting herself, let out a humph, stretched her arms and yawned, her eyes following suit, struggling to open a narrow gap.
“What’s wrong?” she slowly asked, then curled up again. After curling up for a while, she felt something was off. The bed today is so hard!
Drowsy Xu Heran lay on the ground for a moment, her movements suddenly froze.
In her mind, certain fragments of memories rushed in.
“…” Her face turned red, and she pretended to calmly open her eyes, looking under the sofa.
Well, underneath seems quite clean, ha, hahaha…
Hugging her arms and sitting cross-legged, Xin Nuo noticed Xu Heran waking up, so she tilted her head and looked at her face.
Xin Nuo: Stares.
Xu Heran felt increasingly guilty, maintaining her side-sleeping posture. Her bright eyes, now awake, turned around in their sockets. She sensed a “dangerous” atmosphere and even thought that Xin Nuo had discovered the “naughty things” she had done. So she intentionally used a sweet and just-woke-up, slightly refined tone to ask, “What’s wrong? Sister Nuo Nuo~”
Xu Heran’s voice was really pleasant. When Xin Nuo had nothing to do, she would loop Xu Heran’s stage songs. She never said it, but in her heart, Xu Heran’s vocal tones definitely ranked at the top.
Even though the girl was still immature, when she intentionally used a soft tone to elongate her words, it was too much to handle.
Xin Nuo paused for a moment. The tone she intended to use for questioning softened involuntarily. She hugged her arms, lowered her head, and a hint of a smile flickered in her eyes.
“Xu Heran, why were you sleeping on top of me?”
“Really?” Xu Heran innocently said. She immediately felt relieved in her heart, quickly got up, and sat back.
As long as it’s not about that thing, everything is fine!
The “culprit” who had put down her guilty conscience suddenly felt a bit proud. She looked around, deliberately asking, “Hey, how did we end up sleeping on the floor?”
Xin Nuo continued to stare at her.
Xu Heran continued to feign innocence, “I don’t know!”
“How could I be on top of you if I fell asleep?” she shook her head, rejecting Xin Nuo’s accusation. “Did Sister Nuo Nuo feel cold at night, so you snuggled up to me?”
She tilted her head and looked at the air conditioning vent hidden in the ceiling. “There’s only one truth, and it’s the real culprit!”
Xin Nuo: “…”
Just as she reached out, Xu Heran immediately pulled her head back warily.
“Hmm?” Xin Nuo raised an eyebrow and opened her palm.
“Hehe.” Xu Heran scooted over, placing her chin in Xin Nuo’s palm, her eyes narrowing, sweetly smiling.
“Get ready, change your clothes, and let’s go have breakfast.” Xin Nuo held both sides of Xu Heran’s face with her hands, gently kneading. “Silly goose.”
While kneading the silly goose’s cheek, she didn’t catch the fleeting glint in the silly goose’s eyes, a light that couldn’t be captured.
Both of them freshened up and changed clothes, then headed to the hospital after having breakfast at the hotel. Today, Xin Nuo would accompany her mother for a health check-up and discuss further recovery plans.
She had gone to bed early last night, woke up refreshed, and the hotel’s carpet was soft. After a night’s sleep, her body was a bit stiff, but a little movement was enough. It was only when she turned on her phone that she realized it was out of battery. After charging it and restarting, she saw two missed calls from her mother.
Xin Nuo dialed back, and the call was connected shortly.
“Nuo Nuo, why did you change my room, dear?” Xin Nuo’s mother gently asked, “Didn’t we agree on leaving the hospital today? How come I’m in a single room now?”
A single room?
Xin Nuo was puzzled, and in an instant, she understood. She smiled and said, “Well, I was worried, so I thought I’d wait until after my competition to take you out of the hospital.”
She had already been looking into recovery facilities, though her progress wasn’t as swift as someone’s.
As Xin Nuo talked on the phone, she raised her hand and reached over the aisle, twisting the ear of Xu Heran who was playing a game with her phone. Xu Heran was shouting, “Heal me! Heal me quickly!”
Then, with a “splat,” she was killed by the opposing Marksman A.
“This support is no good, too noob, what’s going on!” Xu Heran rubbed her ear and yelled at her phone.
Jiang Qiong’s voice came through the headphones, “What’s wrong with this Marksman? Always using their face to take hits!”
“Don’t be noisy, I’ll carry the team!” Haya shouted, and soon she, Xu Heran, and Jiang Qiong were sitting side by side on the floor, watching as Laurel dominated the game.
“What time is everyone coming back?” Haya pretended nothing had happened and asked, “Do we want to have a meal together before going in?”
As if they were going into prison, not a training camp.
“No thanks, we have the performance in ten days, and I’ll gain three pounds from one meal!” Jiang Qiong yelled, “Xu Heran, get out of that crystal quickly!”
Xu Heran was tilting her ear, eavesdropping on Xin Nuo’s conversation. Upon hearing Jiang Qiong’s angry shout of “Someone is snitching!” She immediately operated the character on her screen to run away, then lay down again amid Jiang Qiong’s frustration.
Laurel sighed, “Aren’t we playing against bots?”
“I don’t know how to play, let me learn.” Xu Heran didn’t admit she was spacing out. Besides studying hard for scholarships, she used to work as a tutor to earn a living. She had never played games before. “Once I learn, can I carry the team?”
“Mhm mhm mhm, you’re really amazing,” Jiang Qiong replied absentmindedly, then asked, “Haya, has your group finalized the song? Don’t you want to discuss it with your former teammates?”
“Don’t want to!” Haya retorted, “Does Little Pearl still want to sing a sexy song? Don’t you want to avoid seeing Xin Nuo’s sexy side again?”
“A little bit~” Xu Heran said with a playful smile, “Nuo Nuo and I have arrived at our destination. See you all tonight! Bye-bye!”
“Take care.”
After they finished their conversation, Xin Nuo watched Xu Heran exit the game and asked, “How did you come up with the idea to change my mother’s room? Little Pearl, you’re so considerate.”
Xu Heran immediately raised her chin proudly, “Of course!”
“So, how much is the hospital bill? Tell me first, and I’ll write you an IOU.” Xin Nuo narrowed her eyes.
Xu Heran’s raised chin slowly dropped, and she looked bewildered, “What are you saying? I’m not quite sure.”
Xin Nuo chuckled in exasperation, reaching out to pinch her cheek, but Xu Heran playfully caught her hand, saying, “I really don’t know. This was handled by Sister Cui. If you want an IOU, ask her.”
“Getting smarter, I see.” Xin Nuo looked at Xu Heran, taking her time to say it.
Cui Qi had been navigating the entertainment industry for many years and was more worldly-wise than the seemingly innocent Xu Heran. She had the intention of recruiting Xin Nuo into the company and would naturally help Xin Nuo without harming Xu Heran’s interests. If Xin Nuo owed Xu Heran a favor, from Cui Qi’s perspective, it would be beneficial for Xu Heran.
Xu Heran was emotionally pure, but Cui Qi wasn’t. She was Xu Heran’s manager, a high-level agent employed by Universal Entertainment, naturally acting in Xu Heran’s and the company’s best interests.
This money, there was no need to think too much, it was Xu Heran’s offer. Since it was Xu Heran’s intention, Cui Qi wouldn’t easily let Xin Nuo repay it.
Xin Nuo didn’t feel any other emotions. She understood Cui Qi, but she wanted to keep her interactions with Xu Heran simple.
Xu Heran was proud again.
Of course, I’m brilliant!
“Brilliant, when we pass by the electronics store, please have the driver stop the car. I need to buy something,” Xin Nuo said.
Before long, the car stopped at the entrance of the electronics store.
“You’re not allowed to come along,” Xin Nuo pointed at Xu Heran.
Xu Heran looked at her displeased, but obediently stayed in the car, even though she didn’t get out, two bodyguards from the previous car still got out and followed behind Xin Nuo, prepared for any unexpected situation.
After a while, Xu Heran’s phone rang, it was Xin Nuo on WeChat, asking if she brought her laptop.
Xu Heran happily said, “Nuo Nuo, you don’t need to buy a laptop, I can lend you mine!”
Xin Nuo declined her offer, and not long after, she returned to the car with a small notebook and a pen in her hand.
Nuo Nuo at an electronics store, buying a notebook?
This notebook?
Xu Heran’s brain stopped for a moment, she looked puzzled, then her expression became tangled.
Is it really this notebook?
So she cautiously asked, “Nuo Nuo, did you buy this notebook? How much did you spend?”
Xin Nuo was unwrapping the plastic wrap, she stuffed the removed wrap into Xu Heran’s clenched fist, then raised her hand and made a gesture of five.
Xu Heran gasped, “Five thousand?”
“…” Xin Nuo looked at her with a gaze as if she were looking at a little fool, then she looked at her affectionately, “Your Pearl family’s currency is too inflated, it’s five yuan.”
And it was bought from a stationery store next to the electronics store.
Xu Heran silently berated herself for her stupidity, obediently threw the trash that Xin Nuo handed her into the trash bin, and turned to see her writing on a piece of paper.
“Little Pearl’s treat: Fifty thousand.”
“Little Pearl helped Mom switch rooms: Five hundred thousand (tentative).”
Xin Nuo finished writing, then immediately grabbed Xu Heran’s hand, using a red pen to scribble on Xu Heran’s fingers and pressed her hand against the paper.
“Well, the IOU is completed.”
Xu Heran: “!!!”
“How can there be so much! Why didn’t you go rob someone?” the creditor incredulously yelled at the debtor.
Xin Nuo smiled faintly and snapped the notebook shut. Surprisingly, there was even a password lock on the cover of her notebook!
“Who made a certain pearl dishonest, I can only resort to this.” She raised her densely lashed eyes, the calm eyes rippled like a lake, gentle and serene. “Did you see, Little Pearl? Sister always has a way to deal with you.”
“Will you behave from now on?”
Xu Heran had been sulking all the way, and it wasn’t easy to complain to Xin Nuo’s mother. So, she followed behind Xin Nuo, accompanying her mother for the examination. The morning quickly passed by, they had a simple lunch, and in the afternoon, they received the examination results. Xin Nuo’s mother was fine, she still needed to rest well and avoid exertion.
Only then did Xin Nuo breathe a sigh of relief.
Equally relieved in her heart, Xu Heran seemed even happier than Xin Nuo. She happily accompanied Xin Nuo’s mother back to the hospital room, telling her to rest well and eat more, and if she had nothing to do, she could watch the 《Starlight Girls》 program. Xu Heran even brought a tablet and helped Xin Nuo’s mother register an official website account, so she could watch past episodes and behind-the-scenes content that wasn’t shown on TV, and she taught her how to vote.
“Please support us, with Nuo Nuo!” Xu Heran enthusiastically promoted to Xin Nuo’s mother.
Xin Nuo’s mother couldn’t help but smile and cry. Seeing that she had a tiring day, she let Xin Nuo take her out to have fun and not waste time in the hospital.
“Well then, we’ll take our leave.” Xin Nuo glanced at the time, her voice gentle. “We’ll come to visit you again when you’re resting.”
“Go ahead, don’t worry about me, I’m doing well.”
“Goodbye, Auntie!” Xu Heran waved with reluctance.
It was already a little after three in the afternoon now, still some time before they were required to return to the camp by the program team. Xin Nuo had the driver find a quiet café where they served milk tea and snacks. She treated Xu Heran to an afternoon tea.
Xu Heran had a habit of taking afternoon naps. Even after a full meal, she would feel drowsy. Today, due to accompanying Xin Nuo’s mother for the examination, she hadn’t had the chance to take a nap. After having a bit of dessert, her eyelids started to droop, and she leaned against Xin Nuo’s shoulder, resting her eyes.
When the breathing of the person beside her became steady, Xin Nuo smiled gently, delicately picked up the laptop she had brought down from the car, and slowly opened it.
Powering on.
The evening sunlight streamed through the blinds, casting mottled patterns on the green plants standing. The verdant shadows swayed on the wooden table, a vivid play of colors that couldn’t disturb Xin Nuo’s dark eyes.
Her expression was blank, and she calmly took out the SD card that Jiang Qiong had given her from her pocket, along with the card reader she had bought from the electronics store.
White earbuds connected to the laptop, slipping the rest into Xin Nuo’s ears. Her expression remained subdued as she dragged the video back, releasing her grip only when she reached the crucial part she wanted to see.
On the screen, a pale-faced girl smirked with a mocking smile, plopping down on a chair and speaking into her phone with an imperious tone.
“Think of a way to boost my vote count for me.”
“If you can’t do it, why not go beg my dad? He owes me this!”
“And also, I want to use that incident… The illegitimate daughter is innocent too. I didn’t want to ruin Xu Heran’s perfect image, but she looked down on me.”
“Why does she get all the good things in this world?”
“Calculate, she owes me too. After all, she’s my blood-related sister.”
“Sigh, Mom, it’s partly your fault too. If you had endured a bit back then, maybe there would still be a place for me in the Xu family. Blame yourself for being too impatient back then. And that old woman from the Xu family, she’s so cunning, playing those tricks of loving me and not my money.”
Xin Nuo couldn’t hold back a slight smirk, curling her lips. Her gaze grew colder.
In the video, the people in the frame were shamelessly chatting with her mother about what might have happened if they had taken a step back back then, as if everything they did was completely right.
At the end of the video, she sighed, “This sister of mine, her eyes are on top of her head, cold and arrogant. If I don’t teach her a lesson, she’ll never realize her mistakes.”
In the footage, a seemingly young girl spoke threatening words, a smug and triumphant smile on her face. She seemed confident that no one had discovered her secret, so when she turned to face the camera, the fierceness in her eyes didn’t dissipate for a moment, completely exposed.
Then, Xu Yanran’s face, a mix of fear and annoyance, magnified in the frame. The camera flipped and tumbled in her angry laughter, and the trainee’s clothing flashed briefly on screen.
Only a “bang” sound, and the screen went black.
Xin Nuo’s expression remained subdued as she edited the video, leaving only Xu Yanran’s segment. After logging into her alternate Weibo account, she waited for the video to upload. While waiting, she pondered over which attention-grabbing words to use. She wondered if the marketing accounts she was familiar with from her previous life still existed, and whether she should ask Manager Cui about a reliable navy.2
Using her alternate account, she contacted the marketing accounts from her memory to inquire about the prices.
She proceeded systematically according to her plan. Just as her finger was about to press the “publish” button, a hand suddenly reached over from the side. It was gentle but impossible to resist, pressing against the back of her hand.
Xin Nuo’s hand felt like it had been scalded and she quickly pulled it away.
“You don’t have to do it this way,” Xu Heran’s voice sounded somewhat drowsy, as if she had just woken up not long ago. She firmly held Xin Nuo’s fingers, squeezing them in her palm. She lowered her head and nuzzled her face against Xin Nuo’s shoulder.
Xin Nuo’s expression remained unchanged as she stared fixedly at the screen, where her own image was reflected.
When did Xu Heran wake up?
Did she see everything?
What is she thinking?
Does she think that what she’s currently doing is… shameless?
A sense of annoyance inexplicably surged within Xin Nuo.
What does it mean not to do it this way? Does Xu Heran still want to let Xu Yanran off?
She furrowed her brows.
Beside her, Xu Heran lazily sat up, raising the palm that was holding Xin Nuo’s fingers. She rubbed the fair joints of Xin Nuo’s fingers, then lowered her head and planted a deep kiss on the back of Xin Nuo’s hand.
“Don’t let yourself be stained by her actions, Sister Nuo Nuo,” Xu Heran lightly chuckled. She leaned in and embraced Xin Nuo, her lips brushing against Xin Nuo’s ear, her voice even softer than her actions, “Don’t dirty your hands for someone like her. She’s not worth it.”
“Let me handle it.”
Xu Heran said with a smiling squint, “I have a better plan.”
Her fingers pointed downward, accidentally touching the hard notebook in Xin Nuo’s pocket. The girl with clear blue-purple eyes blinked as she looked up and down, her tone resolute.
“The key is to save money!”
She hadn’t been fully asleep; when Xin Nuo played the video, she was resting against her shoulder. She heard it vaguely and when she opened her eyes, she saw Xin Nuo discussing prices with the marketing account.
Hmm, Nuo Nuo still needs to pay for her mother’s medical treatment, can’t spend recklessly!
Xin Nuo’s tense shoulders slowly relaxed. Leaning back in the soft seat, Xu Heran’s arm was against her back. She cast a sidelong glance at Xu Heran, her expression a half-smile, half-not, “You want to save money too?”
“Originally, I didn’t plan to,” Xu Heran hesitated, “but Nuo Nuo, you reminded me. Looking at the amount written on your ‘IOU,’ it seems our Pearl family is suffering from a bit of inflation.”
“In that case, we have no choice but to increase income and reduce expenses. The most crucial part is, I’m already sixteen, and in two more years, I’ll have to consider major life decisions!”
Xu Heran smiled with narrow eyes, under her pitch-black eyelashes, revealing a faint glimmer of starlight.
“Building up a dowry for my future wife.”
The author has something to say:
Xin Nuo: ????
Oh my, when I wrote about Xin Nuo not drinking, my mind was already filled with scenes of Xu Heran deliberately enticing Xin Nuo to drink and then all sorts of situations… Ah—
Ah—
Ah—
Well, I thought of it, so let’s just consider that I wrote it, hahaha.
