The Players And The Protagonist Want To Kill Me

Chapter 34

Chapter 34: Where Did the Dead Dog Barking Come From?

“Tax… tax… tax revenue?”

Zoe stood up from her seat abruptly, with a swift motion akin to a cat stepping on its own tail.

“Yes, tax revenue.” Sivey leaned back in his chair, one hand crossed over his chest, the other feeling his chin, his deep blue eyes filled with mockery.

“You are the mayor of Dawn Town, and Dawn Town belongs to Eagle Territory. It’s reasonable for me to collect taxes from Dawn Town. Even the Goddess Of Order wouldn’t punish me for it.”

“But…” Zoe gritted her teeth, her pretty face flushed red with anger. She argued, “But the ownership of Dawn Town is clearly mine!”

“I didn’t say it wasn’t yours.” Sivey shrugged, spreading his hands and smiling. “In my name as Eagle Lord, you did indeed obtain the power over Dawn Town that Megil once had. I am the witness and guarantor of this process, but the power you obtained belongs to Megil, not me.”

“I don’t know if I’m making myself clear.”

“You… you!”

Zoe was baffled by Sivey’s words, feeling completely lost. She had grown up in the Temple, learning how to serve the Goddess and spread faith. After the demi-humans were exterminated, she had wandered around, never understanding such twisted matters.

The Players were also confused.

They didn’t understand the Cain Continent, let alone the Cologne Empire. They had never imagined that an NPC in a game would set them up, even pressing their intelligence to the ground and rubbing it repeatedly.

“Damn! We’ve been played!”

“So, does this mean we have to pay taxes to the Eagle Lord, like a tribute?”

“…seems like it.”

“We’ve been duped? By an NPC? Is this really a game and not the real world? Damn it! I’m here to play games, not to be played by games.”

“Lord, you’re so bad, but I love it~”

“Eagle Lord, a true gentleman, is open and honest. Your behavior lacks any sense of righteousness and morality, let alone the demeanor and breadth of a lord.”

“You’re just a despicable scoundrel!”

At this moment, Ye Hao squeezed out from among the Players.

He raised his head high, his eyes sharp, speaking neither humbly nor arrogantly, but with righteous indignation.

Sivey looked at the sudden appearance of the big-tailed wolf Ye Hao, wondering why he was lecturing him on righteousness and morality when he was a major villain.

He could still smile at the charming and lovely fox-eared girl, but he had no good expression for Ye Hao. His eyes turned cold, and he retorted,

“Where did this dead dog come from, barking like crazy in front of me!”

Ye Hao was almost choked by Sivey’s words, his handsome face visibly turning ashen.

Imagine him, the pampered son of the emperor, raised in luxury since childhood, surrounded by stars, when had he ever been scolded like a dead dog?

“You… Eagle Lord, don’t be so arrogant here. Dare you duel with me without relying on others? If you lose, you will hand Dawn Town over to Zoe intact, without any interference in the future, it should be completely independent.”

“Sure! But you seem to be avoiding using your dramatically increased skills,” Sivey sneered.

“I think you’re afraid,” Ye Hao taunted, taking a step forward. His icy, proud eyes locked onto Sivey.

“I never imagined the mighty Eagle Lord would be nothing more than a coward hiding behind his subordinates,” he said slowly.

Sivey couldn’t be bothered to deal with Ye Hao. He was just about to slap him to teach him a lesson when a notification sound rang in Sivey’s mind.

“Ding! Daily Quest updated:

Villain Mission 1: Beat up Ye Hao in a one-on-one fight.

Villain Mission 2: Make Demi-Human Saintess cry.

Villain Mission 3: Forcefully kiss Demi-Human Saintess.”

Upon completion of this Quest, in addition to receiving daily rewards, a new system function will be unlocked. Please continue to work hard, host, and become the strongest villain as soon as possible.”

“Well, this blasted system seems to have it out for Saintess, doesn’t it?” Sivey thought to himself, though outwardly he expressed that the system should continue to bring on more challenging quests in the future.

It shouldn’t go easy on him just because he was a handsome lord.

Since the system had issued the quest, Sivey reluctantly agreed to Ye Hao’s request. He glanced at his information panel.

After numerous deadly battles, his level had finally reached 48.

No wonder he, the scum lord, was called the star of the empire. The talent of this body was indeed a bit abnormal, otherwise he wouldn’t have been accepted as a disciple by the Legendary Sword Saintess.

Previously, he had seen that Ye Hao’s level was 47, and since he didn’t use his full strength the first time he fought Ye Hao, this duel should be easy.

But Sivey not only had to fight, but also had to take advantage, otherwise it wouldn’t fit his style as a major villain.

So, Sivey deliberately pretended to hesitate, and after considering for a while, he hesitantly said,

“Okay, I agree to your duel. But what if I win? It can’t be that if I lose, I have to fulfill your request, but if I win, I get nothing, right?”

Ye Hao saw through Sivey’s hesitation and couldn’t help but show a confident smile. He thought Sivey was worried and guilty.

Previously, he had been able to suppress Sivey in fights, but now, just a few days later, he didn’t believe Sivey could Breakthrough to Sky Knight.

Ye Hao didn’t think he would lose at all, so he readily agreed, “Whatever you want, as long as it’s not too much, I can agree.”

Looking at the penniless Ye Hao, Sivey thought, “You can’t give me what I want, can you? Can you kill yourself if I want your life?”

So he cast his gaze on the charming fox-eared girl, revealing an aggressive smile like a big bad wolf.

Zoe was stunned by Sivey’s gaze, a hint of alertness appearing in her eyes. She nervously took two steps back, holding her chest.

Sivey found Zoe’s nervous appearance amusing. He pointed at the fox-eared girl and turned to Ye Hao, saying, “If I win, I want her.”

“No!”

Ye Hao and Zoe rejected loudly in unison, one with an ugly expression and seething with anger, the other blushing and embarrassed.

“This request is unacceptable. Come up with another one.”

Ye Hao’s face collapsed, his voice unquestionable.

Sivey frowned, feeling he was offering Ye Hao some face. “Have you put on weight and started panting?” he thought, but he restrained his temper, mindful of the system’s quest. Concealing a subtle cunningness in his deep blue eyes, he maintained composure.

He smiled slightly and said, “Then how about this, if I win, let me and Saintess spend five minutes alone.”

Ye Hao gritted his teeth, about to refuse, but Zoe beside him tugged at his sleeve and shook her head gently.

With her gentle eyes fixed on Ye Hao, full of trust, she said, “Agree to him, Brother Ye Hao. I believe in you.”

Ye Hao looked at the girl in front of him, who trusted him deeply, then glanced at the smiling Eagle Lord, pursed his lips, and nodded.

“Okay, I’ll bet!”
