Chapter 38: Lori’s Calculations

Three days later, Sivey finally led his soldiers back to Winterfell.

He looked at the familiar city, the familiar streets, and even the smell of horse dung floating in the air seemed unusually fresh.

“It’s really comfortable on my own turf.” Sivey couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

He glanced at the soldiers behind him and found that they also looked comfortable and relaxed, probably feeling the same way as himself.

The group slowly returned to Winterkeep, and Sivey could see a figure sitting on a small stool from afar.

She looked quaint next to the tall soldiers guarding the castle, appearing even more petite and lovely.

That figure was none other than his little maid, Lori.

Sivey saw Lori standing behind her, a kindly middle-aged woman, Mrs. Chris.

“Why are these two guarding the door?” Sivey was puzzled as he rode to the front of the group.

Lori rested her chin on her hand, her two small ears drooping, looking gloomy.

Suddenly, a group of figures riding on warhorses appeared in her field of vision. They bypassed the moat outside the castle and arrived at the drawbridge of the castle.

The knight walking at the front was dressed in gorgeous dragon crystal armor, stained with dried and blackened blood.

He rode a tall bloodhoof horse, his figure magnificent, and his golden hair shimmered in the afternoon sun.

“Master… Master?”

Lori rubbed her eyes in disbelief.

At first, she murmured softly, but as the figure approached, her eyes became brighter.

Her furry ears stood up, and Lori could hardly restrain her inner longing and excitement, shouting loudly, “Master!”

As Lori shouted, she bounced and ran to Sivey, who had already dismounted.

Her big eyes narrowed slightly, and a happy smile hung on her lips.

She wanted to reach out and hug the man in front of her, but hindered by her identity and surrounded by so many soldiers watching, one of her hands retreated.

In the end, she just pinched a corner of Sivey’s cloak.

Lori stared at Sivey, who was holding the horse, without blinking, carefully looking for any injuries on him.

At this moment, Mrs. Chris also approached, she looked affectionately at Lori, smiled at Sivey and said:

“Master Sivey, little Lori here, waits for you here everyday after school, waiting until the castle rings the bell in the evening before going back. No matter how I persuade her, she doesn’t listen.”

Mrs. Chris’s words made Lori blush, but she still raised her head to look at Sivey, stubbornly pinching his cloak in her hand, as if Sivey would disappear from her sight the next second.

“Is that so? I didn’t expect that while I was out fighting, my little maid would still be thinking of me in the castle.”

Sivey felt warm at the words, his gaze softened as he looked at the sparkling eyes of the little maid. In her expectant look, he gently placed his big hand on her head and stroked it tenderly.

Lori tiptoed, squinting her eyes, looking very happy and enjoying herself, with a cute smile on her lips.

Some knights around were counting the bricks on the castle, chatting with their horses, seemingly peaceful but actually tormented inside.

Sivey quickly sensed the atmosphere full of resentment around him. He pinched Lori’s cheek, then turned to the knights around him and said, “Alright, everyone, don’t stand here. It’s too hot.”

“Everyone can take a day off today, and there’s no need to guard the castle tonight.”

After giving the instructions, Sivey took out a bag of gold coins from the carriage and handed it to Clement, instructing him solemnly, “Distribute these gold coins to the families of the deceased soldiers. From now on, let them come to the government office to collect their pensions every month.”

“By the way,” Sivey added, “Investigate their family information well, and make sure to prevent the pensions from being collected by proxy or fraudulently.”

Then Sivey called Gudbay over and arranged for him to lead the castle servants to organize the goods brought from the Black River Territory and categorize them into the castle warehouse.

After all the tasks were completed, Sivey finally took the little maid back to his room.

He hadn’t taken a bath for several days. Although due to practicing Qi, there were fewer impurities in his body than in a common person, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t sweat.

He felt sticky all over and couldn’t wait to take a good bath.

But as soon as he took off his armor and only had his inner lining left on his body…

The little maid, who had been standing obediently on the side, suddenly rushed into his arms like a swallow returning to its nest.

Lori had been waiting for a long, long time.

She reached out her soft little hand and hugged Sivey’s waist tightly, burying her pink face in Sivey’s chest, rubbing it back and forth, murmuring indistinctly.

“Um… Master…”

“I missed you so much…”

Lori smelled the familiar scent on Sivey’s body, feeling herself completely softened, a blush slowly creeping up from her neck to her face.

In fact, she deliberately played a little trick, waiting for Sivey to take off his armor before rushing over to hug him because only then could she fully feel the warmth of her master and his broad chest.
