Chapter 39

Chapter 39: Secrets of Breath of the Wild

Sivey looked at the little maid in his arms, a bit somewhat puzzled.

He was sweating all over now, but seeing Lori like this, he couldn’t bear to push her away.

He could only smile helplessly, put his hand on Lori’s back, and, like coaxing a cat, gently pat her back, saying:

“Lori, how about waiting for me to finish bathing before you hug me? I’m all sweaty now…”

However, the little maid seemed unmoved as if she hadn’t heard his words at all. Instead, she hugged his waist tighter and tighter, as if she wanted to completely squeeze herself in.

After a moment, perhaps feeling she had hugged him enough or sensing she couldn’t affect Sivey this way, Lori released her grip voluntarily.

She blinked, her eyes misty, and murmured softly, “Master smells so good, so warm. I just want to keep hugging Master…”

“Um… Lori can’t resist,” she added, burying herself in Sivey’s arms again, sniffing and rubbing contentedly, emitting satisfied hums.

“Smells good? Feels warm to you?” Sivey touched Lori’s little face and asked puzzledly.

Lori didn’t lift her head, she hid herself in Sivey’s arms, unwilling to leave for a moment, and responded in a muffled voice:

“Yes, Master, just like when I was a child, when my mother hugged me counting stars outside, it felt like the wind blowing across the fields.”

Sivey was stunned at her words, and a bold conjecture arose in his mind—could it be the Breath of the Wild?

Could Lori sense the Breath of the Wild?

To verify his thoughts, Sivey asked Lori if she had heard of the demi-human Awakening bloodline power.

Lori tilted her head and thought seriously, a hint of reminiscence and sadness flickering in her eyes.

After a moment, she organized her words and said to Sivey, “When Lori was a child, her father once mentioned that the demi-humans were also a very powerful race more than ten years ago.”

“Although we couldn’t cultivate Qi and had no magical talents, we could awaken the hidden power in our bloodline through insight into nature.”

“However, the conditions for awakening this power are very harsh. It not only requires talent but also needs one’s own insight to resonate with the power hidden in the bloodline.”

“Some people were fortunate enough to awaken the power of water flow under the waterfall, some encountered tornadoes and felt the power of the wind in the tornado, and some lived with beasts every day and felt the power of beasts.”

“We don’t know what is hidden in our bloodline, so we can only try one by one, but only a few people can succeed. However, once successful, some of them can become powerful like, Master with just one Awakening.”

Lori spoke slowly, her gaze finally stopping on Sivey’s face, a blush rising on her pretty face, and then she buried herself in Sivey’s arms again.

Sivey didn’t notice the girl’s little movements, his mind was all occupied with sorting out the information from Lori’s words, lost in thought.

From it, he realized two points. First, the waterfalls, tornadoes, and beasts described by Lori are all very unique natural landscapes, so it’s normal for the Breath of the Wild to exist in these places.

Second, he finally confirmed that the holy blood ritual of the Temple knights used the power hidden in the demi-human bloodline, which explained why that Temple knight turned into a werewolf in the end. It’s very likely that it’s a kind of Awakening that comprehends the power of beasts.

Now Sivey is the source of the wild. Theoretically, there are all kinds of Breath of the Wild on his body.

As long as the talent is sufficient, any demi-human can find Breath of the Wild resonating with their own bloodline on him.

So when Lori said she felt warm, it should be resonating with some kind of Breath of the Wild in his body.

In other words, Lori may have the potential of Awakening bloodline ability!

Sivey was surprised by this and quickly helped up Lori in his arms, asking in the girl’s confused eyes:

“Lori, do you still remember how your people perceive nature?”

Lori didn’t understand why Sivey would ask that, but she obediently nodded and replied:

“Lori remembers. This is the innate ability of us demi-humans, it’s memories engraved in our bloodline. When perceiving, if we resonate with nature, we will see scenes related to the power of our bloodline. Afterward, we can continue to find similar scenes, and after multiple perceptions, we can Awaken.”

Speaking of this, Lori shook her head with some melancholy and continued, “From birth until now, while wandering around with my brother, Lori occasionally tries to perceive the natural scenery, but it all ended in failure. Lori probably doesn’t have much talent.”

Sivey held the girl’s hand, comforting her, and smiled, saying:

“Perhaps it’s not that you lack talent, but that you haven’t found the feeling resonating with your bloodline. How about you try perceiving the scent on me now, the one that makes you feel so fragrant and warm.”

Sivey smiled mysteriously and added, “Maybe there will be a surprise.”

Lori looked at her master with confusion but still obediently folded her hands in front of her chest, using her innate ability to perceive the scent on his body.

A familiar, warm feeling began to entwine around her, gradually enveloping her entire being.

And at that moment, a soft white light emerged from the girl’s body.

She saw it.

She saw a quiet wheat field, the chirping of insects, the growth of all things; she saw the wild grass, reborn under the spring breeze; she saw the setting sun, the towering pines, and the geese falling on the vast plain.

She saw life.
