Chapter 47

Chapter 47: I’ve Prepared the Noose for You

Today, a special guest arrived at the Winter’s End Tavern. Cloaked in a black robe with a hood covering his head, he sat alone in a corner, a stark contrast to the lively atmosphere around him.

Though his presence was unusual, the tavern’s patrons were accustomed to seeing a variety of characters and barely gave him a second glance.

“Um, sir? What would you like to drink?” A scantily clad tavern girl with a curvaceous figure approached Sivey, her voice tinged with hesitation.

“I’ll have the best drink you have here,” Sivey replied, producing two silver coins and expertly tossing them into the girl’s cleavage.

Surprised by his generosity, the tavern girl smiled coquettishly. “You’re so generous, please wait a moment~ If you need anything else, just let me know. My name is Vina~”.

She swayed her hips and threw a flirtatious glance at Sivey as she walked away to fetch his drink.

However, that flirtatious look was destined to be thrown at thin air.

With Lori, the cute and gentle maid, warming his bed every day, and having kissed Zoe, the noble and pure fox-eared girl, these wildflowers and weeds outside couldn’t catch his eye.

He had been waiting in the tavern for quite some time, waiting for Bolt to fall into the trap.

Ultimately, he decided to take matters into his own hands. It would be easy to alert others by going back to the castle to call for assistance. After all, he wasn’t sure which knight was behind Bolt, and if Bolt were silenced beforehand, it would complicate matters.

As time passed by, Sivey had already drunk three cups of wine while the tavern girl had thrown him flirtatious glances over a dozen times.

Just as he was beginning to grow impatient, a young man clad in leather armor with a dagger hanging from his waist and a carefree demeanor entered the Winter’s End Tavern.

This person was Bolt.

The moment Sivey spotted Bolt, his calm demeanor suddenly erupted into a powerful aura. His body surged forward like a raging dragon, his hand clamping down on Bolt’s neck like iron tongs.

His majestic Qi surged, making the robes on his body flutter loudly. In an instant, the two of them arrived in an empty alley.

Bolt was already petrified. The man gripping his neck felt like an enraged dragon, ready to devour him at any moment.

His pupils dilated with extreme fear, and foul-smelling liquid flowed from his pants onto the ground.

“Now, I ask, you answer.”

“If you say anything else, you die.”

Sivey stared coldly at Bolt, his voice icy and devoid of emotion, but the fury in his words was evident.

Bolt nodded in fear.

He had a premonition that if he said one more word of nonsense or begged for mercy, the man in front of him would immediately snap his neck.

“Did you rob the Critter family’s compensation?”

“Yes…”

“Besides that, whose else did you rob?”

“And… also the Dick family, the Abel family, and the Barrow family. Besides… besides them, there were no others, only these people lived in the shantytown.”

“Who instructed you to do this?”

Bolt hesitated at the question, but he immediately felt the iron grip on his neck tightening. He hurriedly cried out:

“It was Gal, Knight Gal… he forced me to do this… please spare me… oh god—!”

Before Bolt could finish his sentence, his neck had already been twisted into a mess of flesh.

Sivey coldly wiped the bloodstains from his hands with Bolt’s leather armor, memories of the knight named Gal surfacing in his mind.

Gal was one of the earliest knights to follow him, becoming one of his subordinates when he was still just a Great Knight.

Today, Gal’s strength still ranked among the top few Great Knights, second only to Clement.

In Sivey’s impression, he was a dashing blond man, humble in his dealings, keeping his promises, a standard, faithful knight.

He simply couldn’t imagine such a person doing such despicable things.

He decided to personally visit Gal’s home, to see how this former follower had fallen into such a despicable state.

Gal’s home was located in the Inner City area of Winterkeep, one of the better residences under his command.

Sivey had never mistreated his subordinates. It was Gudbay’s choice to wash his underwear and socks that year. Besides, it helped improve the relationship between Gudbay and his soldiers.

Standing at Gal’s doorstep, looking at the sturdy and beautiful Gothic-style cottage, listening to the intense panting of men and women inside, Sivey thought of the miserable situation of the Bern family.

An uncontrollable anger burned in his heart, prompting Sivey to kick the door violently.

The shattered door not only interrupted the illicit affair inside but also crashed through two walls with unabated force, embedding itself in the innermost wall.

“Having fun spending money? Going two against one?”

Sivey sneered at Gal and the woman shrinking in his arms on the bed, contemplating why he didn’t just kick the bed and kill all three of them.

“Now that I’m here, you must know why,” Sivey said.

Gal’s face turned pale, his expression shifting from initial astonishment to fear, and finally settling into a resigned calmness after hearing Sivey’s words.

“Sorry, my lord, I have failed your trust.”

“Are you going to execute me?”

“Execute you?” Sivey chuckled in anger, “You’re thinking too simply. Can the crimes you committed be washed away with a simple execution?”

“My lord, I don’t understand!”

Gal’s emotions gradually became frantic, and he said fiercely, “They’re just a bunch of dead people, why do they need compensation? Do those scum deserve it?”

“I, a Great Knight, receive a monthly payment of 3 gold coins. Yet, when those dead men die, their families immediately receive 10 gold coins in compensation. Why?”

Gal questioned, his voice dripping with disdain. “Are their lives worth that much? And their families, those scum, can still go to the treasury and collect 5 silver coins every month, even though they haven’t done anything!”

“My lord, look, with 10 gold coins, I can live more comfortably!” Gal frantically opened his arms, hitting the woman next to him. He stammered, “My lord, are you going to kill me, a Great knight who has followed you for many years for such a small matter, for a few insignificant scum?”

Gal looked up, staring at Sivey, his eyes full of pleading and hope.

But what made him despair was that the usually gentle and smiling lord now had an expressionless face.

His eyes were full of disgust and hatred, as if looking at a piece of excrement crawling with maggots.

“Do you think you just stole some compensation? Inciting ruffians, this is still Winterfell. If I’m not here, are you going to sit in my place?”

“You’re not even worthy of calling yourself a knight.”

“If you had stolen the compensation of the Inner City soldiers, I might have thought better of you. Unfortunately, you just steal from whoever’s struggling.”

“You’re done.”

Sivey coldly refuted.

He walked slowly to Gal, grabbed his collar, and dragged him forward.

“Now I will take you back to Winterkeep. You will be sent to the Citizens’ Square this afternoon, accompanied by the bells of Winterkeep.”

“There, I have prepared a noose for you. You will atone for your crimes in front of all the Winterfell citizens.”
