Chapter 67
Chapter 67: The System Has Updated Again
Life was becoming increasingly torturous.
There was no telling if one day he might lose control and end up with a criminal record.
At this moment, the little maid was humming an unknown tune while tidying up the bed.
Sivey had just changed into a new pair of pants. He stood beside the bed, calm and composed, looking down at his nose and meditating, ignoring her fluffy tail and small butt wiggling around.
“Lori… actually, you don’t need to…”
“Master~”
Before Sivey could finish his sentence, the little maid, who had just changed the sheets, pressed herself against him, her two soft hands wrapped around his neck, gently pushing him onto the bed.
The little maid’s eyes were misty, her passionate gaze was enchanting, and she leaned close to his ear, her breath warm as she asked:
“Master… are you satisfied?”
Sivey, feeling a bit uneasy, turned his face to the side, trying to maintain a calm facade as he argued:
“Satisfied… ahem, it’s not about being satisfied or not, it’s mainly about…”
“Master~”
The little maid moved her face closer, her lips almost touching his ear, and softly asked again:
“Then master… Do you prefer Lori wearing stockings or not wearing them?”
“…”
“Tell me~”
“How about wearing them?” Sivey hesitated, his mind buzzing and his entire body’s blood circulation seeming to come to a halt.
“Hehe~” Lori squinted and smiled, her face blushing. Her tail behind her wagged back and forth until it wrapped around Sivey’s leg.
“Then… what kind does the master want?”
“Black, white, lacy… or… fishnet?”
“Lori, it’s late. Let’s sleep…”
“Master, just say it~”
“…How about trying the black ones first…”
“Alright~ Lori listens to master~”
Having received the answer she wanted, the little maid smiled contentedly.
She lifted her light, tender leg onto Sivey’s waist and wrapped her small hands tightly around his neck. Then, she buried her face in his neck and gave two quick kisses before obediently closing her eyes to sleep.
The little maid fell asleep, but Sivey could only stare blankly at the crystal chandelier above.
This little girl had become more and more difficult to deal with. The key was her soft and persistent approach, like a martial art that erodes one’s resistance. He didn’t know how much longer he could hold out.
Unable to sleep, Sivey pulled up the system panel. Earlier, while they were on the bed, system notifications had been popping up continuously, but he hadn’t been in the right state of mind to check them.
[Ding! The host has abducted the Saintess, gaining 20,000 Villain Points.]
[Ding! …zzzz… Due to unknown reasons… detected that the second beta test of 《Cain Continent》 has started early…]
[zzzz… repair failed…]
[Ding! zzzz…]
[Ding! System update in progress… System update complete, Villain Store has added a barracks module, please check it out.]
[Ding! Host, please check it out immediately!]
[Ding! Check it out immediately!]
[Ding! Quick, look!]
[Look!!!]
……
“The trash system has updated again?”
“Player beta test? So soon?”
Sivey was stunned. There were 10,000 players in the second beta test. If they attacked Winterfell…
Although he could escape, could he run away with Winterfell?
As a lord, what kind of lord would he be if he lost his main city?
Moreover, the system has become increasingly urgent since the last time.
So, did the system actually have emotions?
Could it really be the reincarnation of the trash lord from the previous game? The more Sivey thought about it, the more likely it seemed. After all, the quests issued by the system were very strange and perverse.
Although he did enjoy some of the quests.
He just didn’t understand why the system had such low intelligence, being mostly rigid and inflexible, like an old computer that lagged all the time.
“System, can you see what I’m doing usually?”
System: “…”
“Hey? System, I know you’re there, don’t play dead!”
[Ding! The system cannot share the host’s vision, it can only use @#%content%amp;% energy to analyze the host’s surrounding environment. Please rest assured, your privacy is regarded as paramount within the system’s permissions.]
So that’s how it was, Sivey thought, deep in contemplation.
“Stupid system?”
“Idiot system?”
“Ha ha, trash system, you have no balls!”
The system had no reaction.
Sivey felt relieved. It turned out that when he cursed the system in his mind and thought about exploiting its loopholes, it wasn’t pretending to be dead—it simply didn’t know.
“Other people’s systems are masterminds, skilled at manipulating the host, usurping power, even replacing them.”
“My system is like an AI idiot forcibly conscripted to do my bidding.”
“The key is, it’s pathetically powerless.”
Sivey grinned, feeling very pleased, and the urgency brought by the second beta test of the players lessened considerably.
“Now let me take a look at the new features of this pathetic system.”
“Barracks module?”
Curious, Sivey opened the barracks section in the Villain Points Store in his mind. A string of various buildings appeared before his eyes.
Current permissions only unlocked first-level troop buildings:
[Outpost] Can recruit troops: Crusader, Sharpshooter. (Cost: 20,000 Villain Points) [More details]
[Beast Pen] Can recruit troops: Orc Infantry, Orc Spearman. (Cost: 20,000 Villain Points) [More details]
[Shadow Guild] Can recruit troops: Shadow Assassin, Shadow Crossbowman. (Cost: 25,000 Villain Points) [More details]
[Rock Cave] Can recruit troops: Golem, Fire Elemental. (Cost: 20,000 Villain Points) [More details]
[Graveyard] Can recruit troops: Skeleton Soldier, Skeleton Archer. (Cost: 15,000 Villain Points) [More details]
[Mystic Forest] Can recruit troops: Dryad, Black Panther. (Cost: 15,000 Villain Points) [More details]
“What the hell is this?”
Sivey looked at the string of so-called “first-level barracks” with a bewildered expression.
He understood Crusaders and Sharpshooters, but what were the others?
Did it mean that as long as he exchanged for the corresponding barracks, he could recruit these troops?
With curiosity, Sivey opened the detailed information of the outpost.
[Outpost]: Human troop recruitment building for Crusader and Sharpshooter. Can recruit a Crusader for 50 Villain Points plus 2 Gold coins, and a Sharpshooter for 100 Villain Points plus 2 Gold coins. (Providing enough iron ore can halve the recruitment cost.)
Note: Recruited troops are system troops, fully loyal to the host, with a certain level of intelligence.
Troops start at level 15. Their level can be increased through training and combat, which also enhances their intelligence. They need daily food supplies (one-fourth that of common soldiers).
After reading the description of the outpost, Sivey felt a surge of excitement. The appearance of the barracks meant that his situation could gradually shift from passive to active.
System soldiers were cheap, their food consumption was only a quarter that of normal people, and more importantly, it saved time on training soldiers, as they came with armor and equipment.
It seemed he could let go of his worries and start mass-producing troops!
