Chapter 79
Chapter 79: Taking the Initiative
Sivey stood on the city wall, nearly laughing to death at the Players’ antics.
However, the Warrior Players with Magic shields did indeed become much more powerful, quickly reaching the base of the wall despite the raining arrows.
They tossed their grappling hooks onto the crenellations of the wall and began to climb at breakneck speed.
Compared to knights who possessed Qi and explosive power, Warriors, although lacking Qi, had robust physiques and stable output. Thus, their climbing speed was not slow. In just a breath or two, they had climbed to a height half the city wall.
And just then, scalding and foul-smelling juices mixed with filth suddenly poured down from the head of a Warrior Player.
Most Players had tuned their pain receptors to zero, but they still had taste and vision. This sudden golden shower made them feel nauseous.
Many Warrior Players vomited and fell off the wall on the spot.
However, a small number of Warrior Players turned a blind eye and continued to climb upwards.
As long as there’s no filth in their hearts, what’s on their heads isn’t filth.
“Release the rolling stones!”
With Sivey’s command, the system soldiers behind immediately lifted the rolling stones piled up at the edge of the wall and hurled them at the Players below the wall.
The Warrior Players were immediately smashed by the rolling stones, blood flowing from their heads.
More Players were directly smashed off the wall to their deaths. Occasionally, a few lucky ones who didn’t die lay on the ground, cursing loudly alongside the golden liquid at the foot of the wall:
“Damn, Eagle Lord, you’re a dog, you’re really despicable!”
“I really can’t eat today… vomit“.
“Eagle Lord, if you have the guts, let us come up!”
…
Sivey sneered.
He wouldn’t talk about righteousness and morality with these Players.
Whatever method worked, that’s what he would use. And although he currently had the upper hand, it was only temporary.
His golden liquid and rolling stones would eventually run out, while the Players could continuously resurrect.
At this rate, it was only a matter of time before these Players captured Winterfell.
Most importantly, it was difficult to deal with the Player’s mage legion.
They were no longer the Mage Apprentices below level ten; most of them were legitimate mages now.
The old Players from the first test were already Archmages at level twenty or above.
Mages above level ten could learn a crucial life saving Skill, which was the spell shield. This shield could not only be cast on oneself but also on teammates.
Mage was a rare Class on the Cain Continent.
In the Eagle Territory on the border, few mages were willing to stay in this remote place. Most mages either received offerings in the royal capital, established academies, or conducted research in their own mage towers.
Even the Legion Mages of the army were not a force that Sivey could possess; they belonged to the royal family of the Cologne Empire.
But among Players, mage was just a very common choice.
“All Magic Cannons, concentrate fire on the enemy mage legion.”
Sivey observed the densely packed mage legion of the Players and gave the order.
If arrows couldn’t reach them, then Magic Cannons could.
The Players also noticed the Magic Cannons turning towards them on the city wall. Avatar immediately reminded them:
“Mage legion, spread out quickly, watch out for that strange cannon.”
However, the speed of the Magic Cannons was still too fast. Only a few Players reacted and dodged.
Most Players were in a panic, not knowing where to hide. After four shots from the Magic Cannons, a small area of the mage legion had been cleared.
“Resurrection mages, quickly come up to continue casting shields, don’t run around!”
“Don’t gather together, disperse!”
After all, this was their first time commanding such a city battle, and it was a completely different experience from other games for the Player representatives. Even though they had commanded in other games, it felt completely different here.
There were too many things to consider here, and the outcome of a situation couldn’t be determined by just a few simple procedures.
Sivey looked at the mages below who were reapplying shields to the Warriors, feeling somewhat helpless.
There were just too many Player mages, at least three thousand or more. Although the Magic Cannons were powerful, they were just a drop in the bucket in the face of so many people.
As he continued to command the Magic Cannons to attack, Sivey began to ponder countermeasures.
Indeed, breaking the Players’ crystal was still necessary, but after breaking it, they must immediately retreat. Once entangled by over eight thousand Players, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Defending the city walls was the safest choice, but it was a slow death.
He couldn’t rely on wearing down the Players to level zero; the Gold coins and iron ore in the castle were limited, and it was impossible to continuously produce system soldiers.
He couldn’t outlast the Players, so he planned to take the initiative to attack.
After pondering for a moment, Sivey called Clement and Hellfire Lord Salaken.
“Clement, I plan to lead a proactive attack outside the city. Help me keep an eye on Ye Hao.”
After speaking, Sivey turned his gaze to Hellfire Lord and instructed:
“Salaken, have you seen the three crystal-like buildings behind those alien legions?”
Sivey pointed to the rear of the Player legion, and Salaken followed his direction, nodding affirmatively at the brain burning with green flames.
“I remember you have a Skill called ‘Hellfire Descent,’ which can descend directly from a designated position above the enemy within a certain range.”
“So your Quest is to descend from above the crystal buildings and then help me destroy them. Kill as many aliens around the crystals as possible. After destroying them, you must return within ten minutes of fighting.”
“Destroy! Annihilate! Death!”
“Hehehe, Salaken is the best at this! Respected worm… uh, Lord.”
Salaken grinned widely, pounding his chest with a “clang,” shaking off some residual sparks from the stones.
“So…”
Sivey nodded and turned to pat the fair and tender face of the young maid beside him, advising the Tauren Chieftain beside him:
“Baine Bloodhoof, after we leave, the defense of the city walls will be up to you. The walls can be lost, but help me protect Lori.”
“Lord, rest assured, I swear to the great Mother Earth that I will protect your female beast!”
Sivey: “…”
“Ma… Master…”
The young maid looked at Sivey worriedly, hesitating to speak.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon.”
Sivey smiled gently, bent down, and hugged Lori tenderly, pressing his chin against her small face, softly coaxing:
“Lori, these aliens won’t stop attacking the city. Once they reach the city wall, the soldiers will soon suffer casualties. They’ll be counting on you.”
The young maid knew that her help was needed more on the city wall at this time. She obediently nodded, then tiptoed to peck Sivey on the neck, looking into Sivey’s eyes with determination, softly saying:
“Master… Master, you should know, Lori will always be with you… wherever you go… even if…”
The young maid didn’t finish her sentence. She thought it was ominous to say so, but she knew her master would understand her meaning.
